Half Baked Records proudly presents the sixth instalment of their sought after Vinyl Only series. After having being featured on the second release of the label, the Canadian modular man of mystery, aka Mike Shannon, drops another swinging monster to his already extensive list of wax slabs. This EP celebrates Half Baked's 5th birthday and the A side, "Over and Over (Time To Celebrate Mix") is the perfect embodiment of that, a cybernetic-gospel-funk monster that will drag even your grandmother to the middle of the dancefloor, shaking her ass till she faints. On the flip side we find "Just A Glimpse", featuring Mike's
signature elements, crisp drums, a spooky yet playful bass and teasing electric piano jazzy phrases. The B2, "Pleasure Law", is the deeper and more romantic cut of the record, adding some mellow chords in the equation that eventually get picked up by Detroitish wave of filtered epicness, finally unfolding into an uplifting piano solo outro. HB006 will take no prisoners.

haunting modulated bassline. However, this time, we venture into deep house territories rather than techno, with a jazzy delayed chord progression that will no
doubt cause ruckus on the dancefloor. On the flipside, Thomas Melchior, under his “Melchior Productions Ltd.” moniker, delivers his interpretation stripping it down to the essential. A 12 minutes minimal trippy monster that effortlessly locks you in the groove. Needless say more with these two, let the music speak.

Half Baked Records is back with his fifth offering, presenting the solo Ep of French dj & producer Robin Ordell. On top of having released on Eklo, Robin is one of the historical residents of Half Baked, an artist present in the family from day one, growing together with the
project while bringing his own touch to it, a delicate balance between light and darkness, drive and delicateness. Robin infuses power to his tracks via a no compromise formula on drums; tight old school rhythms that are then cleverly fused with expert sound design and minimalist aesthetic, showing a lot of maturity in his productions skills. The A1, Five Majors, is a perfect example of this balance, a dramatic club twister that has all the ingredients to rock a dancefloor, while preserving a touch of elegance. The A2, Nobody Loves Bishopgate, has a an eerie underwater
feeling, slowly numbing you with his bubbly bass and filtered melodies, but still keeping you afloat with his funky swing. On the flipside we find the remix of Vera, a “djs’ dj” and renowned producer for her releases on Perlon and Oslo to name a few. Vera strips it down, emphasizing the drugged out atmospheres and delivering an hypnotic laidback re-interpretation that will no doubt be the highlight of many morning sets this summer. The B2, Kosma, is the “brightest” cut of the record where jazzy chords alternate with playful stabs, teasing you throughout the whole the track.

Half Baked records starts 2014 with a release from one of his most recently signed residents: Enrico Mantini.
Having been part of the deep house movement since its earliest age, djing since 1987 and having released on labels such as UMM or Traxx Underground among many others, we can consider Enrico as one of the European founders of the deep house movement. His signature sound is raw, punchy and deep; a pure analog wave that immediately floods the dancefloor with good energy and euphoria. HB004 is no different. A three tracker sporting the Italian’s recipe for House: gangsta basses, rolling kicks, playful vocals and jazzy synth stabs. HB004 marks a detachment from the micro-house aesthetics of the first three releases, drifting towards an old school sound, while preserving the standard of quality associated with the Half Baked name. The fourth instalment of Half Baked records is born under a good sign…the sign of dancefloor!

DJ Koze exists both above and beyond club culture as we know it - his albums and remixes flying free from genre and trend - and symbiotically woven into its heart. Yes, he always abstracts and weirds out the principles of house, techno, hip hop, pop, psychedelia, exotica and so forth, but he does that because he understands them. And when it comes to club-demolishing tracks, he understands those principles as well as just about anybody on earth.
Thus he could create an enduring club tune like 2015's "XTC" that is strange, contemplative, even disturbing, bore little relation to anything around at the time, yet still got bodies moving and sweating better than way more obvious techno bangers. And thus the Knock Knock album, which melts a million genres and none into one another, can comfortably include "Seeing Aliens".
"Seeing Aliens" unquestionably is a banger, its bass riff snaking around your body like a python, its high-drama strings, pianos and outbursts of noise designed for maximum crowd pressure release. But, again, it sounds like nothing else, and its dynamics and twists unfold over eight and a half minutes in ways that will mess with your head every time no matter how many times you hear it.
The exclusive b-side track, "Nein König Nein" ("No King No"!), meanwhile, is slightly gentler on the face of it: it's less about sonic pressure, more about hip-shaking syncopation. But it too tells strange fairytales in its peculiar and brain-tweaking accumulation of detail, and though you'll hear archetypal sounds from the heart of house and disco in it, every last one of them becomes new and otherworldly.
