From Japan, Tokio Ono presents a stunning collection of fourth world & ambient dub explorations!

Yokohama multi-instrumentalist Tokio Ono eases into the Accidental Meetings' family with an array of Japanese folk tinged avant-dubs, drenched in beautiful texture.

The elusive artist has spent much of his life in his hometown with a view of the Yokohama waters, before settling into a new environment in Tokyo where Peel gradually took shape. The essence of a given situation emerges as you peel it away, these tracks were inspired by the accumulation of days and flashbacks of memories: layers to peel joyfully from our lives, while offering a slightly shifted and refreshing perspective on one’s surroundings. It's a dreamy journey from open to close, Ono's world engulfs you in a blissful dubbed out wormhole. Featuring a flip from the sound system royalty of Seekers International to top it off, Peel is a unique and exquisite piece of work.

For their first outing of the year, Accidental Meetings deliver the goods once again. This time calling upon Baroque Sunburst's co-founder, Soreab. He's served up three contrasting club tools and finishes it off with a low-slung, bass-heavy drifter. It's a deeper look into Soreab's repertoire and one we have not seen yet, the release demonstrates his multiple styles with Soreab effortlessly weaving between tempos and tones. The record starts with Drunken Ballad, clocking in close to 100bpm with a mutant dembow beat, its rattling percs switching up the techno/dancehall crossover with some squelchy sound design added in for good measure. Maranza Percussion Ensemble takes it up a notch, with dubbed-out rhythmic percussion the theme and a surging sub throughout. Smidges of eerie echos and delayed vocals sprinkled from open to close. sThe B side takes another turn, with Done Everything getting flipped on its head by the MC, Logan. Maximum energy on all accounts with Soreab at the controls throughout. The Sphere closes out this slab of wax, low-slung and moody. A pulsating beat from the start, matched with ghostly drones & sirens. A perfect close to a contrasting and diverse release.

Soundway Records delivers an exciting new compilation, diving ever deeper into South-East Asia. Ayo Ke Disco celebrates the musical identities emerging during the 1970s and 80s from the newly independent countries nestled around the South China Sea.

This time, Soundway’s long-time general manager Alice Whittington (aka DJ Norsicaa) steps into the limelight, embracing her Malaysian heritage and selecting music from her heavy collection of Asian records. Aside from steering the label, she is often found on international stages and radio stations playing an eclectic array of music.

For Ayo Ke Disco (meaning ‘Let’s go to the disco’ in Indonesian), 10 rare tracks of disco-funk, psychedelic funk, synth, city pop, and Hindustani-Arabic rhythms were painstakingly licensed from local labels – forming a snapshot of the vibrant discotheques and live scenes across Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong and the Philippines.

The vinyl release is also accompanied by the Ayo Ke Disco zine from Norsicaa, with extensive research on the history of music in South-East Asia, archival photos and exclusive interviews with some of the region’s most respected collectors.

Part 1 of the Drexciya re-issue series! A new repress of the Journey Of The Deep Sea Dweller series by Drexciya!! It comes with new artwork by critically acclaimed American artist Ellen Gallagher, who created a series of paintings titled Watery Ecstatic, inspired by Drexciya's music - which she discovered while immersed in the mid-'90s New York techno scene. Now partly based in New York and Rotterdam, the connection was easily made. Her Watery Ecstatic series serves as the inspiration for the covers of this new edition of Journey Of The Deep Sea Dweller, with embossed artwork offering a tactile, physical complement to Drexciya's immersive sound world.
Drexciya needs no introduction for most - it's one of the most influential projects in techno history. But for some, this might serve as an entry point into their sonic universe and the broader (Detroit) techno culture. Their music emerged from a harsh environment, and it shows - raw, uncompromising, and boundary-pushing. Drexciya redefined Detroit techno like no one else. Their unique sound and mythical aesthetic made them a true cult phenomenon. Guided by Mad Mike Banks of Underground Resistance, their early releases were works of art in themselves. Drexciya stands for the darker, deeper edges of techno and electro - not just club music, but a profound extension of the mind and spirit. Twenty years after the release of Deep Sea Dweller (their debut), and ten years after Grava 4 (their final album), we've released Journey Of The Deep Sea Dweller - an almost complete collection of their early works, remastered from the original tapes. Since the original releases - on labels like Underground Resistance - had such a strong identity and still stand on their own, this reissue doesn't aim to recreate that magic. Instead, we've stirred up the catalogue, taking the tracks out of their original context to give the 'in-the-know' listener a fresh experience, and the new listener a perfect introduction to Drexciya's sonic universe. After collaborating with Answer Code Request on Delsin early 2024, Amotik now strengthens the relationship with a first solo EP for the Amsterdam based label.
