Motor city royalty Floorplan, aka Detroit techno pioneer and creator of minimal techno Robert Hood and his DJ/producer daughter Lyric Hood, announce their forthcoming inclusion in the deeply respected ‘fabric presents’ mix series with the release of their new single ‘You’re A Shining Star’, out now. The full mix drops on digital/vinyl/CD via fabric records on 28th November. Robert has been a long-standing fabric favourite since the institution's earliest years, clocking up over 20 sets in Room 2, including a live session on New Year's Eve, 2012. In 2008, he'd turn in Fabric 39 which is among the most revered contributions to the fabric mix canon. Now, with the forthcoming ‘fabric presents Floorplan’ mix, the story comes full circle - marking both the duo’s debut on the iconic mix series and a monumental moment for the family project. About Floorplan: Emerging from a musically rich Detroit upbringing steeped in Motown and vinyl culture, Robert Hood became an early member of the seminal ’90s collective Underground Resistance, helping to spearhead the rise of techno. Going solo, Hood created minimal techno with his Minimal Nation LP. Groundbreaking productions, acclaimed performances, and his own M-plant label followed, until in ’96 he formed Floorplan - an alter ego to expand beyond minimal techno into gospel, soul and house-infused techno. Immersed in music from an early age, Lyric eventually caught the same electronic spark that’s driven her father for decades. In 2014, after the release of Hood’s debut Floorplan album Paradise, the project evolved as the then-16-year-old Lyric joined him to perform as Floorplan, including a supreme closing set at Dekmantel’s Boiler Room stage. Two years later, Lyric officially became a full member of Floorplan, cementing their father–daughter collaboration, and they’d release their co-produced album Victorious on M-Plant that same year.

Debuting on Classic Music Company earlier in 2021 with ‘Right There / Holy Ghost’, Floorplan return to Luke Solomon’s imprint to deliver another divine two-tracker ‘Get My Mansion Ready / Out Of Control’ to close out the year. Created as an outlet for Robert Hood’s soulful, spiritual influences, the techno pioneer welcomed his daughter Lyric into the group in 2014 where it has since gone from strength to strength, as they consistently deliver evergreen cuts under the moniker. Opening the release with ‘Get My Mansion Ready’, Floorplan’s signature big chords and bigger vocal hooks are underlined with a ferocious techno bassline ready to pump the dancefloor with life. ‘Out Of Control’ goes deeper and darker, a hypnotic looped vocal and menacing builds employed to almost theatrical effect. Combining to make an EP bursting with club appeal, it’s time to get to know these cuts, as you’ll be hearing them across dancefloors for some time to come.

Following the re-mastered re-release of Robert Hood's 'Underestimated EP' in March, we continue the Perpetual Masters series on M-Plant with a vintage Floorplan double-header. 'On The Case / The Deal' was originally released on M-Plant's subsidiary label, Duet back in 2001. At the time Floorplan was still in its infancy with just a handful of releases on Drama in the '90s, the seminal 'Paradise' album had yet to be conceived and Robert's daughter Lyric Hood hadn't joined the party.

Not content with defining the sound of minimal techno in the nineties, Robert Hood has more recently fine tuned his own gospel tinged take on the genre. It comes under the Floorplan moniker, the genesis of which is said to have come to him when awakened by a late night vision. Since 2016, it has been a collaborative duo between Hood and daughter Lyric, and never fails to lead to religious experiences on the dance floor.
With roots in the Detroit techno scene in which Hood first emerged, Floorplan’s sound is embellished with the heartfelt emotions and unbridled passions of Chicago house music. It is heavy and analogue and filled with vigour thanks to the expert drum programming and ever rising sense of euphoria that comes from the well sculpted synths. But it also speaks to the heart and soul and has done since first standout cut ‘We Magnify His Name.’ The pair’s endless quest for the perfect groove continued through albums like 2013’s Paradise - which spawned anthemic singles like ‘Let’s Ride, ‘Baby Baby’ and the massive ‘Never Grow Old’ - and 2016’s Victorious.
The same year saw Hood’s daughter Lyric officially become part of the project. Since then they have taken Floorplan to endless headline shows at high profile clubs and festivals everywhere from New York City to Ibiza, London to Amsterdam. Their electric sets leave crowds feeling uplifted, spiritually awakening and totally in awe. Part of the success of Floorplan is the combination of Robert’s old school excellence and Lyric’s new school innovation: their music, with its big chords and even bigger vocal samples, could be 30 years old or fresh from the pressing plant, such is its universal sense of appeal.
Another new album is due on Aus Music in winter 2019 and once again distills the power of techno and feelings of house music with a certain sense of studio magic that emerges when this iconic father-daughter duo come together. It is rare to make music as stripped back yet emotionally enriched as Floorplan, but this pair do it with ease and a firm focus on durable grooves. Functional but full of form, tense but atmospheric, loopy but ever evolving, Floorplan truly transcend the dance music spectrum.

Manfredi Romano, founder and A&R of Life and Death Records, has been a pivotal figure in electronic music for over two decades. This year marks an important milestone as he is invited to curate the upcoming fabric presents mix for fabric Records, a release that highlights his instinctive storytelling and the distinct musical identity he has cultivated throughout his career.Manfredi’s journey began in Italy around the turn of the millennium, tour-managing punk bands and organizing left-field music events before completing his studies in computer science at the University of Pisa. He went on to form DAZE, Italy’s first booking agency dedicated exclusively to electronic music, laying the groundwork for what would become a globally influential presence in the scene.In 2010, he shifted focus to his own artistic project, DJ Tennis, which quickly gained international recognition for its emotive blend of house, techno, and disco. Renowned for creating intimate atmospheres in even the largest spaces, DJ Tennis has performed at leading clubs such as Circoloco Ibiza, Fabric London, and Panorama Bar Berlin, and at major festivals including Sonar, Timewarp, Primavera Sound, and Coachella. His 2022 residency at Phonox in London further showcased his ability to shape dancefloors with nuance and depth. Since 2017, he has also co-founded and curated Rakastella, the celebrated Art Basel Miami festival created in partnership with Life and Death and Innervisions.As a producer, DJ Tennis draws from early relationships with post-rock pioneers such as Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Tortoise, and Fugazi, channelling their influence into intricately layered electronic compositions. His work has appeared on respected labels including Kompakt, Rhythm Assault, Running Back, !K7, Cercle Records, Aus Music, and Circoloco Records, alongside frequent releases on Life and Death. His remix portfolio includes collaborations with Diplo, Boys Noize, Loco Dice, WhoMadeWho, and Acid Pauli, among many others. He has also previously contributed a DJ-Kicks mix, bringing his eclectic sensibilities to one of electronic music’s most beloved series.After extended periods living in Miami, Berlin, and Barcelona, DJ Tennis now resides in Paris. To celebrate the release, salute will headline fabric’s Room 2 on 10th October, joined by a handpicked lineup (TBA), bringing their vision full circle from mix to dancefloor. Lead single ‘double luxury’ sets the tone for the project, capturing salute’s signature blend of soulful energy, deep groove, and euphoric release. Built on spacious low-end and an undercurrent of euphoria, warped vocals twist through sleek, propulsive drums to form a house cut that channels the emotional intensity and groove at the heart of their sound. Arriving off the back of a huge summer, with standout sets at Coachella, Glastonbury, a North American tour and All Points East, ‘double luxury’ provides a fitting entry into a milestone chapter for one of the most vital voices in club culture. salute says: “my contribution to the fabric presents compilation series is my way of contextualising the music i've been writing over the last couple of years. i wanted to include bits of all the things that make up the salute sonic palette: loopy, sample based house music, dense and soulful chords and beautiful synths, slick and groovy drum work. it's an exercise in beautiful house and techno music, or my definition of it anyway.”

To celebrate the release, salute will headline fabric’s Room 2 on 10th October, joined by a handpicked lineup (TBA), bringing their vision full circle from mix to dancefloor. Lead single ‘double luxury’ sets the tone for the project, capturing salute’s signature blend of soulful energy, deep groove, and euphoric release. Laurent Garnier is joining the ‘fabric presents’ mix series, and details are now out on this bespoke milestone release. The trailblazing DJ and producer is doing not one but four mixes as he embraces an opportunity to go even bigger for the London institution in its 25th groundbreaking year. A full-spectrum and multi-genre release, there’s a UK-focus, house, techno and downtempo mix. In his words, “diversity makes it richer, makes it better.” Eager to pay homage to the vitality of club culture, his vision is to take us through a rapturous weekend at fabric from Friday through to the afters. Making it even more unique, he’s also dropping an original four-track EP - one track per genre. Garnier: “Clubs have been my second home since the start of my career. Once you’ve witnessed that unique connection you can create in a club with a crowd, once you’ve experienced it from behind the decks, you just know you are where you’re meant to be. This special journey with fabric is of course a tribute to the legendary London club - a place that’s been a home to so many clubbers, DJs and music-lovers for so many years - but most of all, a tribute to all the dancefloors and all the clubs around the world.” Ploughing through hundreds of records a day, it’s no surprise to hear Garnier describe the track selection process as being “complicated”. His enriching trip through fabric spans over five hours with each mix coming in at 1 hour 20 minutes. Across all four, it’s clear that he’s immersed in the present and future-focussed with a majority of the chosen records dropping only in the last three years. The House Odyssey mix kicks off with afro house via South African producer Mr. Blasé, and the vibrancy continues through cuts from Cape Verde to Chicago as newer faces Culoe De Song, Neinzer and Tal Fussman meet linchpins DJ Spen, DJ Lady D and Mike Dunn. In techno, his Rhythmic Resonance mix is searing with high impact moments from Red Axes, John Tejada, Electric Rescue, Works of Intent, and himself as three of his own epic productions feature. A UK-focus underpins Garnier’s nod to fabric’s fervent bass devotees with the Into The Low-End session featuring Skrillex, MC GQ, Sami Virji and Martin Badder. On The Way Home sidles up to clubbers for a downtempo dust down with stunning explorations from Daudi Matsiko, Adriano Koch, Richie Culver and Melody Gardot, among others. His EP further showcases his mastery of genres. Luminous house cut ‘Odyssée Maison’ is in for spirited dancefloor grabs with Dan Diamond on vocals, while ‘Resonances From The D’ is for techno heads, glued together with tumbling rhythms, soaring synths and scattering hi-hats. ‘Playing With The Low-End’ is the bass-doused maze that looms large before ‘On The Way Home’ brings a shower of orbiting synths. One for collectors, especially as the uniquely-packaged deluxe vinyl and CD are limited editions, it drops as physical-only on 29th November. The deluxe LP includes a bespoke box, coloured vinyl of the mixes and 12” EP and a picture booklet of Garnier. The CD comes with embossed ‘25 Years of fabric’ aluminium cases and the booklet. While the preceding volumes laid out the duo‘s ongoing investigation into the numinous aspects of sound and texture, this chapter can be conceived as a clearing of sonic space. The compositions appear more deliberate, their architecture more explicit. Yet beneath the surface, the familiar tension between disorder and clarity shapes the record’s structural framework.
What emerges is an album of uncanny cinematic melancholia, the traces of which were already present in the earlier volumes, now coming to full bloom. The evoked landscapes appear widescreen in scope, although the record’s feel remains oddly intimate. It is never clear whether one expands into the furthest realms of outer-space loneliness or navigates through the densest of earthly topographies.
The heightened presence of acoustic instruments and human voice expands the project’s sonic spectrum. In the convergence of the organic and the synthethic, esoteric melodies rise and vanish, as obscured rhythms break into precision, resonating motion-picture nostalgia while remaining uniquely modern and anticipatory. What we encounter is OOPA‘s true aesthetic nature: a deeply human sense of playfulness and curiosity fused with a strangely alien and otherworldly detachment.

A rising and genre-defying figure in the French electronic scene, Goldie B continues her
ascent with Who Says Night’s For Sleeping?, a five-track EP that asserts her distinctive
signature: an instinctive blend of club energy, cinematic storytelling and UK rave influences.
Conceived as the soundtrack to a night lived in full intensity, the record moves through the fire
of the dancefloor, the collective trance, and those suspended moments where one floats
between dream and wakefulness.
“I imagined this EP as the soundtrack to a night experienced in its entirety. From the first rush of
adrenaline on the dancefloor to that floating walk home, still carried by the music. My influences range
from Moby and Air to Floating Points and Joy Orbison, artists who know how to combine power and
emotion. I love connecting the raw energy of the club with more dreamlike textures, because you can
absolutely dream while dancing. Each track is an instinctive snapshot of my inner world.” Goldie B
The EP’s opening act, “The Space Between” blends ethereal pads, organic strings and a steady
crescendo, recalling the elegance of Air or Moby. It opens a suspended space, equally suited to inner
drift or physical release. “I wanted it to feel like a threshold, a gentle hand pulling you into a trance
state.”
On “U Make Me Feel So Good”, a sensual and narrative breakbeat track, a flowing bassline gradually
tightens into trancier energy. Seductive female vocals weave through broken rhythms, creating a
piece that is as tactile as it is hypnotic. “It’s about contrast, the softness and caress at the start, then a
tension that rises and electrifies.”

euphoric central break and voices urging to move your feet. Urgent and liberating, it embodies the
dreamlike essence of the rave. “It’s how I imagine the rave: a lucid dream where joy and collective
energy feel almost unreal.”
Next comes the most incisive cut of the EP, “Purple FX”, driven by a grating central bassline that
evolves relentlessly until its explosive drop. Minimalist yet implacable, it captures the sheer force of a
peak-time track. “I wanted a track purely designed for the club, where the tension just keeps rising
until it explodes.”
Closing in chiaroscuro, “Snake Waves” shifts from breakbeat into a half-house, half-techno 4/4
groove, carried by a sinuous, hypnotic bassline. The track plays on tension and release, with a rich
harmonic break before fading like a suspended farewell, where the party recedes but the energy
lingers. “It’s a farewell piece that keeps the intoxication alive, like a final vertigo before slipping back
into the night.”
Goldie B is a multifaceted force on the French electronic scene. A producer, multi-instrumentalist,
singer, MC, DJ, and co-founder of the label Omakase Recordings, her sets blend bass, jungle, UKG,
and breakbeat, captivating audiences with their contagious energy. Based in Marseille, she has
released music on renowned labels such as D.KO, Banoffee Pies, and YUKU, and has performed on
some of the biggest French stages and festivals: Peacock Society, Astropolis, NDK, Marsatac, Delta,
Le Bon Air, and even the Festival d’Avignon. In 2024, she was selected by Apple Music for its

A rising and genre-defying figure in the French electronic scene, Goldie B continues her
ascent with Who Says Night’s For Sleeping?, a five-track EP that asserts her distinctive
signature: an instinctive blend of club energy, cinematic storytelling and UK rave influences.
Conceived as the soundtrack to a night lived in full intensity, the record moves through the fire
of the dancefloor, the collective trance, and those suspended moments where one floats
between dream and wakefulness.
“I imagined this EP as the soundtrack to a night experienced in its entirety. From the first rush of
adrenaline on the dancefloor to that floating walk home, still carried by the music. My influences range
from Moby and Air to Floating Points and Joy Orbison, artists who know how to combine power and
emotion. I love connecting the raw energy of the club with more dreamlike textures, because you can
absolutely dream while dancing. Each track is an instinctive snapshot of my inner world.” Goldie B
The EP’s opening act, “The Space Between” blends ethereal pads, organic strings and a steady
crescendo, recalling the elegance of Air or Moby. It opens a suspended space, equally suited to inner
drift or physical release. “I wanted it to feel like a threshold, a gentle hand pulling you into a trance
state.”
On “U Make Me Feel So Good”, a sensual and narrative breakbeat track, a flowing bassline gradually
tightens into trancier energy. Seductive female vocals weave through broken rhythms, creating a
piece that is as tactile as it is hypnotic. “It’s about contrast, the softness and caress at the start, then a
tension that rises and electrifies.”

euphoric central break and voices urging to move your feet. Urgent and liberating, it embodies the
dreamlike essence of the rave. “It’s how I imagine the rave: a lucid dream where joy and collective
energy feel almost unreal.”
Next comes the most incisive cut of the EP, “Purple FX”, driven by a grating central bassline that
evolves relentlessly until its explosive drop. Minimalist yet implacable, it captures the sheer force of a
peak-time track. “I wanted a track purely designed for the club, where the tension just keeps rising
until it explodes.”
Closing in chiaroscuro, “Snake Waves” shifts from breakbeat into a half-house, half-techno 4/4
groove, carried by a sinuous, hypnotic bassline. The track plays on tension and release, with a rich
harmonic break before fading like a suspended farewell, where the party recedes but the energy
lingers. “It’s a farewell piece that keeps the intoxication alive, like a final vertigo before slipping back
into the night.”
Goldie B is a multifaceted force on the French electronic scene. A producer, multi-instrumentalist,
singer, MC, DJ, and co-founder of the label Omakase Recordings, her sets blend bass, jungle, UKG,
and breakbeat, captivating audiences with their contagious energy. Based in Marseille, she has
released music on renowned labels such as D.KO, Banoffee Pies, and YUKU, and has performed on
some of the biggest French stages and festivals: Peacock Society, Astropolis, NDK, Marsatac, Delta,
Le Bon Air, and even the Festival d’Avignon. In 2024, she was selected by Apple Music for its
Women In Electronic series. Her new Who Says Night’s For Sleeping? EP confirms her status as an
instinctive and distinctive artist to watch on the French electronic scene.

Second Phase (aka Joey Beltram and Mundo Muzique) are 2 legendary producers whose output shaped an entire generation of ravers, DJs and producers minds. 'Mentasm / Mind To Mind' is one such influential release, literally creating new styles, new directions and impacting on dance music for decades to come. Unique programming and fresh sounds made their records stand out head and shoulders above everyone else's output. 'Mentasm' particularly broke ground with it's now infamous 'hoover sound', influencing house, techno and trance music to come and even spilling over into the nascent hardcore, jungle and D&B scenes where it was often imitated or sampled by producers who wanted that ruff, visceral feel for their own tracks, but didn't know how to create it themselves. New Jersey-born Ali Berger is a drum machine specialist and low-key US electronic music standby, now based in Pittsburgh after spending the 2010s in Boston and Detroit. His catalog of original music runs deep, with over 60 releases on his Trackland label and EPs on imprints like Spectral Sound and Sequencias, all resulting from a lovingly-cultivated studio approach which respects improvisation as a spiritual practice.
Here with this sublime release on Scissors and Thread, Ali shares a multitude of sounds and atmospheres across the five tracks. As Ali himself puts it "This record collects tracks from the last three years, plus 0221 (Serious Mix) which is from 2018. There's a full cross-section of production techniques represented here, from one-take jams to multi-tracked compositions, but through it all there's a deep melancholy which (I hope) is tempered by enough groove to be uplifting. Maintaining emotional balance takes constant, caring attention; music is a part of that process for me and these tracks reflect that."
This balancing of melancholic atmospheres and groove is evident throughout - Rhythm & Simplicity is a low key thoughtful banger for the more discerning dancefloors, while A New World To Forget also exhibits a deep love of cultured house music and analog drum machines. Tape Jam Pt 2 is the perfect mix of improvisation and pure groove, put down in a rough and gritty fashion. 0221 (Serious Mix) merges a breakbeat with pads and synths that give off a balearic sunrise vibe, while Motion Anthem wraps up the EP with a tougher groove coupled with wistful melodies and oceans of feeling.
