Following the completion of the Pulse EP series, Peverelist invites four producers to present their own refreshing takes on choice cuts from his most recent phase of club exploration.
Fadi Mohem channels the bright angles of 'Pulse IX' into a buoyant, sleek run of uptempo dub techno with an unmistakable Berlin focus. Huey Mnemonic takes the crafty, curious swerve of 'Pulse XX' and sets it to a 4/4 rush of exuberant, steady-climbing techno informed by his Detroit surroundings. Munich-based artist Polygonia's snaking electronica response to 'Pulse VII' capitalises on the swooning melody of the original's second half and matches it with vibrant sound design. Rounding off an especially invigorating round of remixes, the stark jack of 'Pulse V' becomes a twinkling, dreamy Motor City reverie in the hands of the legendary Optic Nerve, aka Keith Tucker.
The end result is a collection of remixes bursting with the same vibrant, uplifting energy that courses throughout the Pulse series.

Drawing a line under his Pulse series, Pev brings a fifth and final dose of positivity to the dance with a distinctly techno-oriented focus and space for the odd curveball.
Strident opener 'Pulse XVII" bookends a lean, subtly stepped mid-section workout with pearlescent synth strings and chord stabs patched in for maximum Motor City uplift. 'Pulse XVIII' operates within a taut house framework, stirring up a forthright jack track with the sparsest of ingredients drawn from the palette of bassweight 4/4 that has run throughout the Pulse series. The tempo noticeably nudges up on 'Pulse XIX' - a nagging dub techno variation where the genre's usual blown-out dreaminess is replaced with snappy urgency. On this third release he underlines the broader approach to tempos and styles he's taken across this latest period of his output, soon to be coalesced into a new live set.
If there's been a nostalgic streak detectable amongst the crisp modernism of the Pulse series, it comes through clearer than ever in the looped-up house jack and starry-eyed techno synth hooks of 'Pulse IX'. Pev swiftly follows up the Pulse EP with another four tracks of sprightly club gear that continue to shape out his current areas of exploration in the studio. As ever, there are no fixed concepts or approaches - just an instinct for energising, inventive tracks taking in a range of tempos and rhythms.
The first half of Pulse Modulation EP is marked out by linear rhythms which showcase the most techno aspects of Pev's sound. Five years on from her debut on the label, Surgeons Girl returns to Livity Sound with an EP of explorative, synth-rich techno. In the time since A Violet Sleep announced Sinead McMillan's fulsome analogue sound, she's maintained a considered presence with live, hardware-rooted performance and a select handful of releases.
On A Moment To Machine EP, McMillan showcases a widescreen strain of techno that leans into the expressive, emotional weight of powerful synth composition while maintaining a fierce physicality tuned up for the club. 'Under This Space' and 'Razor's Whip' dart along upwards of 150 without sacrificing depth and subtlety, while 'Steps Right' and 'Silken Place' shelve drums in favour of cascading arpeggios. 'Rested' brings balance to the record with needlepoint rhythmic exploration and pensive pads, rounding out Surgeons Girl's ever-developing, highly personal approach to techno.

Five years on from her debut on the label, Surgeons Girl returns to Livity Sound with an EP of explorative, synth-rich techno. In the time since A Violet Sleep announced Sinead McMillan's fulsome analogue sound, she's maintained a considered presence with live, hardware-rooted performance and a select handful of releases.
On A Moment To Machine EP, McMillan showcases a widescreen strain of techno that leans into the expressive, emotional weight of powerful synth composition while maintaining a fierce physicality tuned up for the club. 'Under This Space' and 'Razor's Whip' dart along upwards of 150 without sacrificing depth and subtlety, while 'Steps Right' and 'Silken Place' shelve drums in favour of cascading arpeggios. 'Rested' brings balance to the record with needlepoint rhythmic exploration and pensive pads, rounding out Surgeons Girl's ever-developing, highly personal approach to techno.

Channeling inventive sound design into incisive, characterful techno variations, Jurango returns to Livity Sound with an eight-track double EP - his longest release to date. Taíno Gold captures a moment in time for Bristol-based Nate Reece's continually evolving sound as it draws on the full spectrum of UK club music.
Following a debut for Livity's reverse label in 2021 and last year's An Amorphous Mass EP, Reece is more assured than ever tackling a variety of club-focused cuts. The tracks on the release all came together before, during and after a two-month visit to Reece's grandparents' home - an idyllic tropical environment in a small community at the top of a hill in the northern part of Jamaica.
Taíno Gold refers to the island's indigenous Taíno community and the legend of a witch luring Spanish settlers into a trap on the Martha Brae river. There are no messages explicitly embedded in the music, but the release is both a personal reflection of Reece's own experiences and family heritage, plus a reminder about the enduring sceptre of colonialism and the continued need to fight against it. From absorbing Jamaica's fraught history through museum and plantation visits to the abundant nature in the garden surrounding his grandparent's house, the double EP marks a place in time for Reece, with eight advanced, ear-catching tracks as the end result.
From the cascading arps of 'Black Torches' to the tunnelling chords of 'Waiting For Trelawny', the melodic dimension of the Jurango sound is more confident than ever. 'Hibiscus' is a shimmering celebration of dub techno and crooked drum pressure and 'Chalk On Trees' basks in aqueous, fathoms-deep pads to close out the EP. Elsewhere, Reece brings new textural and tonal detail to his percussive workouts, splashing acidic noise around the angular experimentation of 'Maybe It's Broken' and firing off double-time rhythms to inject 'Double Sevens' with infectious urgency.
With the space afforded by a longer release, Reece widens out the scope of his artistic identity while absorbing the particular scene and setting that surrounded him while making the tracks. Taíno Gold is a vibrant next step for Jurango and a natural continuation of his work with Livity Sound.

Pev swiftly follows up the Pulse EP with another four tracks of sprightly club gear that continue to shape out his current areas of exploration in the studio. As ever, there are no fixed concepts or approaches - just an instinct for energising, inventive tracks taking in a range of tempos and rhythms.
The first half of Pulse Modulation EP is marked out by linear rhythms which showcase the most techno aspects of Pev's sound. The latest release on Livity Sound features an extensive insight into the work of Seb Uncles, aka Eusebeia. Uncles has been releasing his work prolifically over the past six years, from self-released tapes on Rebellion Electronics through to reams of 12"s and LPs for labels like Earthtrax, Western Lore, Rupture London and re:st. While his sound has often tilted towards drum & bass and jungle, he places atmosphere and composition ahead of genre boundaries and tempo restrictions. Cosmos EP finds Uncles stretching out over eight varied tracks for a broader experience compared to the usual Livity EP. Glacial ambience and richly layered synthesis guides the record overall, at times leaving drums behind altogether, but even at its mellowest you can sense the overbearing bias towards soundsystem music. The melancholic electronica of 'Becoming' gets underpinned by dread bass, and 'Solace' places a haunting steppas-esque refrain in the midst of heavily dubbed downtempo. When he does turn to full-tilt drumfunk edits on the likes of 'Hopes & Dreams' and 'Love + Light', he approaches them with subtlety and finesse, matching rhythmic flair with melodic progressions which lend themselves to introspective listening as much as full dancefloor immersion.

Darren Nye and James Baker have both had a prolific output on some of the coolest underground house and techno labels which reads as a who’s who in the scene - Exalt, Form@ Records, Neo Ouija, Magnonic Signals, Revoke, Yore, Spacetime, Withhold, We’re Going deep, Firescope, Acquit, Nebulae, Nightflight, Analogue Concept, Moatin.
Impossible to ignore each other’s sound, they started up a friendship which had them sending each other tracks, initially just to listen to and get feedback, however it seemed inevitable that they would agree to the idea of remixing each other and subsequently each remixed 5 tracks which accompany the original works on an album.

'Songs for the Mist Forest' is the second album by childhood friends, classical guitarist Morgan Szymanski and artist Tommy Perman. While their first album explored sounds of the Scottish woodland where Tommy's parents live, their new album is inspired by Morgan's ranch in the mist forests of Valle de Bravo, Mexico. The music evolved from a soundtrack Morgan and Tommy produced for the documentary film 'El Dragón de los Bosques de Niebla' (The Dragon of the Mist Forest). The documentary shines a light on the ecocide that's happening in Valle de Bravo. Overdevelopment is destroying the forests that are home to Abronias, beautiful small reptiles native to the region and the 'dragons' of the film's title. Through 11 new compositions Morgan and Tommy expand on the documentary's theme of environmental crisis. Their music fuses Morgan's guitar-playing with numerous field recordings of Valle's local wildlife and habitat using a series of innovative production techniques. The album highlights certain species that are close to disappearing: fireflies, birds, crickets, and Abronias which are now on the red list. Together Morgan and Tommy have crafted a suite of music that celebrates the beauty and vitality of our natural world and provides a call-to-action to save it while we still can.

Ghost Dubs, real name Michael Fiedler, aka Jah Schulz, announces a rebirth with 'Damaged', his first album for The Bug's PRESSURE label. Having recently dropped two criminally overlooked, experimental dub LPs, with his 'Dub Over Science' series, the German producer/bass specialist, now stretches his own parameters of outwardness still further, with these twelve fresh explorations of dub deviance. For those who feel the fusion of dub techno and ambient drone had creatively ended with the demise of the short lived, Berlin based Chain Reaction label. Ghost Dubs now upgrades and extends that legendary blueprint's abstract methodology even further and deeper, floating away upon a wonderfully warm sea of hiss and static bliss. This is dub so atomized that it disintegrates within your eardrums. Its music, where the machines take over and virtually all traces of humanity are erased. But thankfully, the warmest soul still oozes seductively from the pores of Fiedler's robo riddims. Relentlessly hypnotic, seriously sedated, 'Damaged' celebrates the point of departure within its mesmerising low-end grooves. Album opener 'Chemical', provides an opiated slo-mo skank, which sounds like Plastikman's 'Consumed' era pulsations drenched heavily in sub aquatic fx. A triumph of surface noise surfing and sub-woofer testing relentlessness, it provides the perfect intro to this compellingly immersive album. For batty shakers and headtrippers alike, there's added thrills aplenty, as Ghost Dub's richter scale tremor rhythms remain impressively massive, and the atmospheric depths of 'Damaged' appear tantalisingly oceanic. Throughout the duration of the dreamy selection, there is an obsessive balance of bewitching ambience and heavyweight bassbin shaking. The lead single 'Thin Line' itself provides a missing link between African Head Charge's early percussive body probes and Rhythm & Sound's addictive radiance, with the slightest hint of Burial's doomed romantic hauntology added for good taste. Alternately, and no less gracefully, 'Dub Lobotomy' bizarrely resembles Miles Davis 'Get Up with it' chopped, screwed, and relocated to a futuristic Kingston Town. Impressive indeed, Fiedler's mastery of live dubbing on his mixing desk shines across the duration, and gives the album an improvised edge, and sense of peripheral chaos. Elsewhere, spooked steppers ('Hot Wired'), haunting house ('True to life') and 4th World psychogeography ('Undone'), combine to ensure there is a forever changing mixture of flavours percolating within the admirable consistency of the overall sound. With a tip of the cap, and nod of the head to Pole ('Second Thoughts'), it’s no surprise then that PRESSURE would then turn to the great, Berlin based producer Stefan Betke, to master/cut this collection at his infamous Scape mastering room. And a fine job he did too, as high quality sound and levels are definitely maintained throughout.
