Andrea Passenger is an Italian producer, DJ, consultant, creative director and founder of events like Aquario and Better Days and is next up to get things cooking on the Funkyjaws label. 'Disco Love' is a chest-pumping, sliding disco groove with funky licks and florid melodies. 'Get In Touch' then opens its heart with a soaring soul vocal and lavish strings that bring a real sense of elegance. 'Mar De Salvador' then taps into more worldly sounds with funky rhythms and high-speed desert blues style melodies laden with percussion. Last but not least is the more stripped-back and hurried disco funk of 'Tour De Force', which then explodes into life with strings.

been a favourite among soul-funk heads. Now, it’s in the hands of one of Brooklyn’s finest –
Joaquin ‘Joe’ Claussell – who gives it the full treatment. It’s backed with Kon’s ‘Cool Out Remix’
of ‘Chillin’ Out’, which was met with a great response when released as a digital single earlier
this year, and rightly sees a side of wax.
The limited-edition 12” vinyl continues the beautiful design theme of the series, looking as if it
was just sent to a New York DJ pool at the end of the ‘70s

The follow-up to Naya Beat’s seminal Volume 1 release features a lovingly curated selection of deep cuts from an overlooked era of South Asian house, street soul and downtempo originally released between 1988 and 1994. A critics favorite with the likes of Pitchfork (8.0/10), DJ Mag, Mixmag and 4Columns, Volume 2 was a standout release of 2024. Repeating the success of Volume 1, it was The Vinyl Factory’s number one reissue of 2024 and featured on Best Of lists at Phonica Records, Juno, KCRW and In Sheep’s Clothing. While Volume 1 explored early 80s balearic, synth pop and disco, Volume 2 spotlights a unique era in the late 80s and early 90s in diasporic cities like London and New York when South Asian music was infused with acid house, New Beat and dub. There is a true wealth of sounds here, from The Jets Orkhestra’s organ-fuelled house romp ‘X-290’ to the downtempo splendour of the Asha Bhosle fronted West India Company. Lady M lends the Hindi house track and arpeggiated wonder of ‘Kali Raat’ and Mantra’s eponymously titled cut is a hypnotic gem. Featuring other scintillating balearic house, dub and street soul from the likes of Asha Puthli, Bappi Lahiri, Johnny Zee and Kuljit Bhamra, this double album is a treasure trove of never-before-reissued and previously impossible-to-?nd holy grails.

It's time to set those jaws to wobble mode as this funky favourite label is back with more serious sounds for the disco, this time from Hysteric. 'Italo Mystery Theme' is a brilliant timewarp to the 80s with its overtly streamy and seductive vocals over neat guitars and stepping disco drums with lush chords. 'After Dark' is more breezy and hip-swinging with its airy vocals and wet claps, then 'Sugar Daddy Again' brings rugged analogue bass sounds and snappy drums under some erotic vocal work.
