Common Labour finally returns to the record press with their milestone tenth 12?! The four-tracker by pothOles perfectly balances crisp percussions and bassy grooves with evocative sprinkles of synthetic harmony. His buddy Yaniel joins the party, collaborating on two tracks. The guys go way back to 2003 with their boy band days as the A.M. Specialists trio (comprising Samuli Kemppi, Yaniel, & pothOles). Most renowned for “Polar Zoo”, Danny Tenaglia’s power play at the Vinyl Club back in the day. As you hear, their musical alchemy hasn’t dwindled one bit though. First is the Psychedelic Funk mix of '2001 Disco Party' a hypnotic, sweat inducing slab of frenzied funk-action, did we mention this release brings the funk enough? ‘Dream A Dream’ sees a 1994 Ian Dewhirst re-edit of the glorious ‘Dreaming A Dream’ by Crown Heights Affair respectfully retouched by Ché & Matica, who bring the beats into time, overdub additional elements and create a DJ friendly intro/outro for what is an essential update.

As bassist for dance-punk outfit The Rapture, Mattie Safer cut his teeth in the music scene alongside a wave of now-legendary early 2000s NYC acts like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, LCD Soundsystem and more (a time period recently immortalized in the documentary film ‘Meet Me In The Bathroom.’) Fast-forward nearly 2 decades and Mattie has found the sweeter side of dance music as the current lead vocalist for slo-mo kings Poolside, and now he presents his 2nd solo lovetempo project on Razor-N-Tape.

Championed heavily by Gilles Peterson, lovetempo’s modern soul classic 'But I Do' gets a vinyl release with a trio of remixes. Crackazat delivers in his signature style, weav-ing the organic elements and earworm vocals of the original into a deep and jazzy mix. Lon-doner Daisybelle bumps the BPMs up a few notches and adds pulsing synths to her take, and Brazilian duo From House To Disco turn in a dubby club remix to round out the record.

This time, Vintage Pleasure Boutique is reviving a high-energy Eurobeat classic straight from the vaults of Hotsound Records – the legendary “Say You’ll Be Mine” by the one and only Kim Taylor.

Originally produced by Rob Van Eijk in 1987, this track marked a shift in the Euro Disco sound, paving the way for the Eurobeat explosion in Japan while also becoming a cult anthem in the LGBTQ+ club scenes of the U.S. Its high-speed, melodic energy set dancefloors on fire across the globe. In 1988, a special U.S. remix by Frank Del Rio and Victor Flores pushed it even further into dance music history.

Now, thanks to Vintage Pleasure Boutique, “Say You’ll Be Mine” is back on vinyl – packed with stunning remixes. Alongside the original versions and the rare 1988 remix, this edition features fresh reinterpretations by Electro Potato, Chris Van Buren, A.P. The Saint Wax Edit Service series delivers another superb sonic sermon here with Haverdi at the metaphorical lectern. To get things under way, they lay down the impossible funky basslines of 'Chituna' which is powered by big brass and thudding kicks which only heighten the soul. 'Bamboo' is defined by dazzling disco synth stabs with a funky vocal and endlessly wiggling bsasline that cannot fail to get those hips moving. On the flip, 'Come Inn' brings some Afro vocals and low slung drum sleaze and last of all 'Asi Si' brings some Latin flair, organic percussion and marvellous trumpet work to really set the 'floor ablaze.
