Worldship Music returns for 2025 with a brand new various artists EP sure to set all soulful dancefloors on fire. The second installation of the Herald Traccs series welcomes back label stalwarts Roberta and Trilaterals while bringing Reelsoul into the fold as well, of course alongside a cut by imprint head Teflon Dons.
Reelsoul kicks proceedings off with a stunningly beautiful version of an all time classic jazz inflected dance jam “La Costa”. Leaning into the sophisticated vocal harmonies, a bed of warm instrumentation carries this familiar joint seamlessly into the modern era. New crowds and veterans alike will be swept away on an unforgettable lover’s holiday to the seashore.
Trilaterals come through in full on party mode on “Flo Jo”. Filtered and chopped samples from a funk staple are twisted into a swinging groove that will have house dancers going off. The stripped back arrangement teases with energy before exploding into dancefloor ecstasy. Adept sample spotters will be sure to get the title reference, a wink and a nod to two legends of black American culture.
Teflon Dons can’t help but put their underground edge into the music, with “DONTWANTU2GO”’s tough drums immediately signaling the late nite intentions of this banger. Pleading vocals and pitched chords add a twinge of that distinctive deep house melancholy before the strings drop in and take the jam to the next level.
Roberta is a perfect choice to end the EP with the smoky jazz club vibes of “Hang Back”. Gritty drums and electric piano riffs provide the hypnotic backbone, while flute and vibes add funky flourishes on top. Having surfaced with a few potted releases in the mid-nineties, My Love Is Underground have taken it upon themselves to call upon LA's Teflon Dons to reissue three punchy lessons in that currently most mined of house music eras. There's no arguing with the authenticity of a track like "Planet Eater", as the subby bass and pounding drums take the lead with just subtle dabs of noise and samples chilling in the background. "Sun Fist Rising" has a more rounded atmosphere, leaning on layers of keys and a classic garage shuffle for a sweet and soulful end result, while "Psycho Ray" gets on a darker tip with creepy vocal samples and moody organ bass.

Worldship Music returns to celebrate a very special anniversary. Twenty-five years is a considerable span in any human scale, and within the realm of dance music, it constitutes an eternity. For a release to maintain enduring appeal over such a prolonged period, there must be something extraordinary about it. "Tomorrow People" is nothing short of extraordinary.
Having released a limited 7" in 2019 featuring two versions, Worldship, in commemoration of its 25th anniversary, has undertaken a remaster and recut of the entire original 12" record, along with the addition of Bonus Beats as an anniversary gift.
"Tomorrow People" marks the recorded debut of the now widely recognized jazz vocalist Gregory Porter, produced by the Teflon Dons. Despite numerous house music remixes of his tracks over the years (many of which are quite good), none surpasses this one, a true garage classic. The Main Mix has not seen a re-release since the original record, but its twisted synth chords and funky bass have not aged a second. The Original Mix is a darker, more minimal affair, allowing Gregory's vocals to take center stage. The Teflon Dub introduces additional percussion for those late-night deep moments. The Bonus Beats, as the name suggests, deliver precisely what's promised.
Whether you were unaware at the time or perhaps not even born yet, you can now finally acquire a copy of this record without resorting to selling off any internal organs. And that is indeed a cause for celebration.

The new Ripen series was inspired by the live, percussive & soulful dance releases from Salsoul records and a curiosity of what Roy Ayers would sound like with a 303 in the band.
All the sounds including string quartet, horns, choir, percussion, flute spoken word, drums and synths were recorded in Sampology’s studio on the south side of Brisbane, Australia.
The 12” EP includes four songs + extra DJ tool creating a lush and live environment, bringing his previous nature themes further onto the dancefloor.

Introducing the first single by modern soul ensemble, Leo Vidal & The Rayvelles with their answer to the west coast oldies sound, 'Haunted By Your Love'. Leo Vidal, 70s soul singer hailing from rural Virginia debuts his flavour of east coast harmonies, crooning about lost love. The Rayvelles a.k.a. Fergal McBride & Tuck Nelson are the inspiration behind Echo Ray Studios, a London based recording studio channeling the soul of Motown to current day. Backing vocals by Los Angeles based singer Cassandra Dali & Londons own, Marietta Smith. The B-Side features a remix by Call Sender, an international multi-instrumentalist duo who shone their distinct light onto this classic take, inviting another entrance to this haunting sound.
