Bedouin aka Tamer Malki and Rami Abousabe are to release their long awaited and adventurous debut album Temple of Dreams on their own label Human By Default this Spring. Over the course of the pandemic, Malki and Abousabe spent a great amount of time finalizing songs created in the past 7 years, composing, song writing, singing, and working on numerous projects including collaborations and new originals. Temple of Dreams was shaped from these sessions and captures the enigmatic sound of the versatile, forward-thinking group. Malki explains that the album looks to “experiment and push the boundaries.” It differs from their previous work, as the album is intended to be a deep listening experience for the fans, rather than a slew of club cuts. The multi-talented artists sought to create a timeless sound in Temple of Dreams. Malki outlines that the album lies between “what we play on stages around the world and what we’re capable of writing and producing as musicians and producers. We wanted to exceed expectations and present something that you might think or feel you’ve heard before, yet it's something completely new and not what might be expected from us.” It starts with the enchanting sounds and candle lit grooves of Rise And Fall then journeys far and wide through the Eastern string sounds of Coldman featuring Nathan Daisy, darkly alluring vocals and mystic rhythms of Voices In My Head and the hypnotic melodic leads of Crazy feat. Iveta Mukuchyan. Elsewhere the richness of Bedouin's sound makes for spellbinding listening on tracks like Hokema Feat. Delaram and Flore Chico feat. Chico Castillo with its alluring Spanish vocals. Love And Hate is a more dynamic and punchier house cut while Fill The Space is an intriguing mix of melodic magic, authentic instrumentation and smooth rolling grooves. The musicians, singer-songwriters, and producers in Bedouin have spent the better part of a decade fine-tuning their sound, which draws as much from their Middle Eastern heritage as it does their world travels as DJs playing iconic venues across the globe. Capoon crafts organic and eclectic soundscapes, inspired by a worldwide musical view and a penchant for emotional storytelling, having collaborated with musicians from all over the globe. Following his lauded ‘April EP’ on Human By Default in 2020, the Antwerp-based artist returns to Bedouin’s essential imprint with a pair of lush productions. Leading the A-side is the title track ‘Mi Mem’, which sees the DJ/producer merge emotive vocal chops, shuffling percussion, and evolving synthesis for a driving and powerful opener. ‘Mano y Mano’ brings rolling drums under soft, gentle instrumentation as swirling soundscapes engulf the stereo spectrum.

Bedouin’s Human By Default recruits Upercent for the four-track ‘Inconformisme EP’ this May. Previously recording for Watergate, Kompakt and Adana Twins’ TAU, the Valencia-based DJ/producer arrives on Bedouin’s imprint for his debut appearance on the label, delivering some of his most accomplished productions to date on vinyl. Across the record, Upercent displays combines his wide range of musical influences into a set of engaging downtempo dancefloor cuts with impeccable attention to detail. Opener ‘Elefants’ twists various acoustic instruments and vocal samples around soft shakers and warm low end, leading into theloose percussion of ‘Fluir’, grounded by a softly thudding kick amongst fluttering and glitched out FX. On the flip, ‘Caduco’ combines the natural and the synthetic as hand percussion meets sharp synth stabs and glowing pads. ‘Hipocresia’ twists mangled horns over a low slung backbeat.

Kamai Music founder Zigan Aldi joins Bedouin’s newly launched Human By Default imprint with an uplifting release entitled ‘Hella EP’. Hailing from Turkey, the Berlin-based artist is renowned for incorporating organic instrumentation into his melodic productions and has released on labels like Underyourskin Records, TrueColors, 3000 Grad Records and Acker Records (dropping an album on the latter). His tracks have been regularly supported by Bedouin and he’s continually performed across the world alongside the label founder’s, notably at their Saga parties in Ibiza and New York. Marking the second release on Human By Default, the tracks on this release have been played by Bedouin for quite some time and their official release has been highly anticipated. Opening with deep, entrancing rhythms and Joy Tyson’s vibrant vocals, ‘Hella’ opens the package in fine style before the percussively driven ‘Henna Beth’ follows with subtle risers, rattling drums and warm basslines. On the flip, ‘Other World’ flows with fluttering beats, soft flutes and synth patterns while vocalist Hakan Vreskala’s echoing voice chants generating a mesmerising atmosphere from start to finish. On “i was put on this earth”, DJ Python - aka Brian Piñeyro - gently forays into uncharted territory as a singer, producer, and collaborator; an evolution all the more impressive in light of his groundbreaking musical projects to date like Mas Amble, Angel, and Club Sentimientos Vol 2. While splitting his time between New York and London, Python has teamed up with a diverse set of collaborators including South London rapper Jawnino, Honduran-born powerhouse Isabella Lovestory, unclassifiable songwriter Organ Tapes, and NYC mainstay Physical Therapy. Across the five-track EP, Python shares bold solo songs alongside these intriguing collaborations.
