Only to find out that it was actually a newly produced cover version by Romain FX -- we can all sleep better at night now (and actually even own a copy of the record without having to give up a kidney!). Here it is, finally, after tumultuous negotiations with the original rights owners, Hong Kong raised Romain FX's skilful efforts to give the absolute classic Italo-disco bomb a new facelift --"Spacer Woman" but now in Cantonese. Subtle but effective, he presents a new rendition with Cantonese lyrics by Cheung Yuen Tung along with a very respectful "Acid Trip Version". Get it while you can because the deal made with the original rights owners only allowed for a very limited pressing. More

The kind of track that makes you want to know what kind of morning routine Apiento has on a weekday, "The Orange Place" is simply an underground dancefloor classic of the 2010's that makes you realise something very special was going on with Paul Byrne's Astrological charts at the time. In his innocent words: "This was made in 2013 in a studio in East London. It was sort of made for like dark clubs that just have that glowing light which is why it was named ‘The Orange Place’. It’s fun to hear in the club as you know what it is from the first conga hits." A galloping chugger known to do serious damage on well oiled dancefloors like Pikes in Ibiza with DJ Harvey at the reins. Pure Sleazy Belgian Indiana Jones vibes, impossible to forget and very timeless, if you didn't get in on the first pressings, don't sleep on another chance. After seeing her cover of Mariya Takeuchi's "Plastic Love" flying off the shelves (earlier on BLESSYOU0021), Xiaolin is back with another cover version, this time a refreshing take on Hong Kong 80's pop starlet icon Prudence Liew's work - "Afterwards" - originally released in 1990. Xiaolin prepares another tasty recipe for the ear, clearly exposing her seasoned studio knowledge which serves as the foundation over which her powerful vocals can shine. If that wasn't enough, this release also comes with a Dub version and two remixes by non other than Tornado Wallace and Androo. A very generous package - hard to go wrong here, buy on sight.

Luca Trentini's 3rd release on Blessyou, further exploring and perfecting his disco sample-based recipe to dancefloor enhancement. A well put together club oriented tool kit put forth by a seasoned DJ himself, Luca shares his club secret weapons with us once again. Coming on strong on the A side at 124 BPM with a driving momentum splashed with acid nuances - peak time main room Cocktail D'Amore material. "So High!" drops down to 120 BPM with a more playful use of his sample pallets. Moving down to low 90s BPM on the B side with a downtempo chugger jungle flavoured cruise as he befriends a few animals with a lot to share, including what sounds like a Kookaburra and a few big cats. What could be interpreted as relatively raw production methods is turned into a refreshing take on this classic Japanese 80's anthem. Originally recorded during golden age of Japanese technology with a highly polished sound, Xiaolin gives it a new twist with a rougher edge established by the drum machines and saturated bass echoing video game soundtracks from a bygone era, beautifully juxtaposed with her dreamy vocals. Anatolian Weapons is back with part two of his remix/studio work for Sound Metaphors, this time a 2 track EP featuring downtempo chuggers high in dubbed out acidity. The A side feels like a perfectly put together composition that grows with a playful industrial beat paving the way for trancey melodies to develop in unison with acid nuances. After his first album on BLESSYOU "Turquoise", Mogwaa aka Seungyoung Lee from Seoul is back with another stellar contribution this time re-visiting his earlier days of musical appreciation in Reggae music. This album is another entirely instrumental work with 8 tracks, effortlessly displaying his confidence in the studio when it comes to dreamy dubbed out ambient sounds intertwined with heavy digi/stepper and even dancehall influences. A refreshing treat to the ear when it comes to contemporary productions as Mogwaa approaches the Jamaican genre with a refined aesthetic of his own. Youcef Debbihi continues to impress and surprise after already his 3rd volume as Sea of Disillusions. This 4 tracker extends what was already started and established in the previous volumes, expanding his studio excellence into more break beat oriented directions, either at high speed in the form of almost Drum'n'Bass with "K2" or slowed down as a more trip-hop tempo with "Break Whale". B-side slows down to upper 90BPM range of driving rhythm under atmospheric dubby hints of humidity "5deF", and, finalizing with a beatless Ambient mix of "Loon River" which sounds like the slow motion intro to an epic trance anthem that never fully takes off, setting the stage for something heavy to be mixed in. Essential for any reasonable DJ record bag.

After the recent Experiments re-issue with 90's off-style unclassifiable tracks composed by the legendary Dub producer - The Disciples - Androo (NS Kroo) sets out to re-create and freely adapt this material. The fact that Sound Metaphors chose Androo to re-construct these works in to new material is not random. Androo has been producing Dub since he was a teenager but he quickly turned to all kinds of musical experiences, mixing styles and influences. Once past the intimidation of working with material from one of his favorite and revered producers, Androo tried to pay homage to the free spirit that this Disciples album contains. Between reference and irreverence, the album is woven with a playful, DIY, and also serious weave. As you listen, a sometimes very harmonious and controlled landscape takes shape, then suddenly steep slopes and raw ridges appear. Almost like an art of sound drawing. A line in permanent oscillation between supposedly antagonistic registers. Danceable pieces cut for dancefloor brush against strange, problematic, and voluntarily irrecoverable elements. Consensual pop chords rub shoulders with sizzling blurred contours and sounds that are sometimes too loud. 4/4 rhythms get jackhammered out of the tempo with opulent delay effects. The “Dubmix” is here, constantly at work. It is, above all, an art of the hands, fingers handling the console which from then on becomes an instrument in its own right - for Androo Dub is experimental music.

Precious Bloom are a music group formed in 2022 in Jakarta, Indonesia by Aradea Barandana and Adinda Dwimadasari. Aradea Barandana is better known as a global record digger and an exploratory dance music producer. He has recorded under the name of Dea or as the group “Zatua”. Adinda Dwimadasari, on the other hand, is a singer-songwriter from Jakarta who dreams of recreating the glory days of 80s Indonesian city pop music which adapted western popular music compositions to Latin jazz influences as well as the repetitive hypnotic beats of Indonesian traditional music. Her expertise in writing unique vocal melodies, cultivating harmonies and prepossessing lyrics has earned her a nomination for the Indonesian AMI awards for the best dance music category through the song “Bersinar Bersama” made in collaboration with the infamous Indonesian musical duo Diskoria and produced by Aradea Barandana. In unison they decided to form the band “Precious Bloom” with a dualistic sonic world steeped in both nostalgia and experimental bliss. Consequences is a collection of beautifully crafted tracks that could be heard playing from the radio of a taxi stuck in Jakarta's rush hour traffic or a sunset dancefloor in Ibiza. Ranging from New-Beat and Proto House to HiNRG and even bossa nova influences, the multitude of styles explored by their compositional and studio prowess is cohesively tied together by the beautiful vocal presence of Adinda. Caribbean-Belgian composer, producer and musician Nala Sinephro announces her debut album Space 1.8 with lead track “Space 3”. Space 1.8 will be released on 3rd September via Warp Records.

The instrumental “Space 3” is a short clip from a 3 hour improvised session with drummer Eddie Hick (Sons of Kemet) and producer/multi-instrumentalist Dwayne Kilvington on synths bass (Wonky Logic, Steam Down) culminating in a synth driven, particle-splitting, rapture. Speaking about the track, Sinephro explains: “We recorded it in the start of spring, it was a magical day. The day after recording I collaged the drums, added fifteen synths, produced and mixed it at home and it was all done.”

Sinephro’s music fuses meditative sounds, jazz sensibilities, folk and field recordings. Her musical practice is rooted in the study of frequency and geometry and guided by the premise that sound moves matter. Her debut album Space 1.8 takes shape as a metaphysical structure, where each curative space is a womb-like cocoon created by Sinephro in service of relief and affirmative, ecstatic freedom. Space 1.8 was composed, produced, performed, engineered, recorded, mixed by Sinephro at age 22. On the album, she plays modular synths and pedal harp alongside her friends James Mollison, Shirley Tetteh, Nubya Garcia, Eddie Hick, Dwayne Kilvington, Jake Long, Lyle Barton, Rudi Creswick and more.

Following electrifying live performances across the London scene, word of Nala Sinephro’s playing quickly spread throughout the UK jazz scene, consequently landing her performances as part of the celebrated jazz night Steam Down, alongside playing with and supporting the likes of Demae, Eun, Coby Sey, Rosie Turton, Robert Ames, London Contemporary Orchestra, Touching Bass, Spitfire Audio, Nadeem Din-Gabisi. She was touted as one of The Guardian’s artists to watch in 2020, has garnered support from the likes of Gilles Peterson; and is a resident DJ on NTS sharing monthly selections of celestial sounds. In 2021, she joined the innovative Warp Records roster where she continues to weave her unique sound world.

In 2000, Leonora Epremian collaborated with Evasive Records' founder Rob Pearson to produce a remarkable three-track EP, marking the fourth vinyl release on the label. Recorded at the renowned Online Studios in Croydon, South London, this EP captures the essence of a pivotal era in London's Tech House scene.

"Remember" and "My Soul" epitomize the quintessential London Tech House sound, their polished production still capable of energizing dance floors 24 years later.
