Born and raised in New Jersey, Ardio Zemog delivers the goods for the next Obia Records release. Soulful harmonic percussion filled tracks with a whiff of Latin. Passed on from generation to generation people inherit their ancestral spirits and devotional practices to create vibrations that lift our souls. Ardio Zemog takes on the skin of Obiaman for a sonic trip through connected spirits both young and old. The main cut “Generations” takes the dancer and listener on a wholesome state of well-being. Soothing percussion rhythms with a solid signature bassline drives the listener into a never ending feeling of bliss, the youngest generation has spoken.

Followed by “Yeochu” a deeper more mature arrangement of drums characterizes the unseen spirit from the father figure. A message of analogue synth stabs and pads deliver a blessing followed by hypnotic piano riffs. Instructions and spiritual advice are given for those who are able to open up.

“Nights in Leblon” behold the oldest wisest spirit of them all. A breathtaking deep harmonic pad layered by countless drum percussion. The presence of ever evolving synth stabs and piano chords define the tracks rhythm and timbre.
To finish the EP Wendel Sield takes us on a completely different ancestral path. Flipping the script on “Nights in Leblon Acidic Rework” with a solid tb-303 acid line layered with tr-505 drums. The rework focuses on playful rhythm and minimal usage of elements. Surprisingly the record takes on a different harmony mid tune what makes the track ideal for DJs who like to switch it up during their sets.

Obia Records third instalment has arrived with “sonic movements EP”. This ritual is guided by Caribbean producer Trinidadian Deep who delves deep into the spirit of the cosmos with a highly percussive and spacious chords filled EP.

The main track “sonic movements” quickly evolves from rhythm filled percussion to beautiful pads and infectious piano solos. Accompanied by exceptional synth work this track captures the listener attention from start to finish.

On the B-side you will find “sounds and movement” a more stripped down four to the floor big room cut with a vocal shot on top that sends the dancer a float. Short melodic chords are the backbone of this production. Enhanced by a well-balanced percussion placement and synth layering “sounds and movement” taps into the sunset spirit.

“Slow ya thing” as the names states turns the tempo down and makes this record a steady choice for the versatile DJ or music listener. The track drags through multiple emotions and feelings by means of great pads and laidback drums. Piano chords that open the soul remain throughout the entire track.

Back to the A-side Wendel Sield provides a remix to the main cut of the EP. His “Obi rework” functions as a standalone track that minimalistically mimics sections of the main cut creating a deeper vibe. A dirty and playful synth line hypnotizes the listener towards the point of no return.

" ‘Entity EP’ encounters both a happy spirit and two fathomless spirits who dwell in limbo ready to tell the first tale. On side A Wendel Sield displays two original cuts who embody the label's direction.

‘Missing Chant’ is an uplifting rhythmic track full of liquid Rhodes and layered percussion followed by sonic fm synth line. Where as ‘Obeah Rhythm’ takes the EP to a deeper spectrum with evolving pads and hypnotic percussion. On the B side Trinidadian Deep took a deeper organic take on the main track making an infinite flow of percussion layers accompanied by ever evolving moog synth line.

Obia Records' name is inspired by the Obiaman - a spiritual healer from Surinamese and Caribbean culture, often good, sometimes evil. Obiaman resides in the jungle where he practices magical sessions to heal the mind, body and soul. Rhythm and chanting is his tool to guide those who seek a deeper meaning or healing through a journey of music and dance. "

Filipovich is one of a kind. The Belarus-born, Paris-based artist works in a multitude of media - found footage films, painting, silkscreening and performance to name a few. It's her musical output that has caught the attention of late, though, with Filipovich dropping a run of releases in recent years which began with 2021's Magnificat on Time Released Sound. Filipovich takes as much of a novel approach to her music-making as she does with her other artistic endeavours - Magnificat was centred around treated samples of Sergei Rachmaninov's All-Night Vigil, and she's also combined classical composition with contemporary electronic techniques on her subsequent drops.For Idealized, Filipovich's debut on Sheffield's Central Processing Unit, she maintains the gothic air which characterised her previous releases and applies it to a record of widescreen contemporary techno joints. These tracks represent something of a gear shift for CPU, a label which has long made its name by delivering top-quality electro and machine-funk jams, but such is the quality of Idealized that these superbly-executed techno productions are sure to win over label fans both old and new.Idealized is very much schooled in the German tradition of minimal/dub techno. Tracks like 'Physical', 'Wave' and 'Dance Minor' all anchor themselves on single, steady drum pulses and delay-drenched single-chord loops. Filipovich generally lets the central idea of these tracks play out across several minutes while introducing increasingly disorientating elements into the rest of the mix - wiccan atmospherics, clashing chords, spiralling delays and so forth. It's an approach at once respectful of Filipovich's predecessors - Basic Channel, Deepchord, Ellen Allien and so on - but also full of idiosyncrasies and individuality.Many of the club cuts here hardwire us into the moody, murky environs of the darkest Berlin Basements. 'Ultra Red' rides forward on a crisp drum machine snap, a menacing burble of bassline and an eerie single-note synth whistle in the upper end of the mix; 'Dance Minor' shows off a bit of KiNK in the brain-bending modular loop that waxes and wanes at its centre; the second-half run from 'Wave' to closer 'Small Cave' travels ever-further out into deep space - the kick drums remain insistent, yet the textural elements are delivered with an edge and flair that evidences Filipovich's ability to think outside the box.Filipovich's unusual methods, and the influence of sound art and electroacoustic composition on her music, are drawn out further when Idealized steps away from the dancefloor. 'Hydra' comes off like a more gothic version of Pole - its central pulse draws from dub techno but never quite settles into a danceable groove, and this beat is combined with the kind of unnerving keyboard work that would make John Carpenter proud. Although closer 'Small Cave' eventually locks into another dark-room techno roller, the opening section of the track delivers a weightless soundscape of bright, tinny chords and a scene-setting field recording.Idealized, the first drop on Central Processing Unit from Paris-based Belarusian Lina Filpovich, broadens the label's horizons with a selection of finely crafted minimal/dub techno joints.

After his last single Asset 001 and releasing his ‘Distance’ track on Dogmatik records, Stojche returns with the second release on his own solo ‘Tangible Assets’ imprint delivering another four cuts, whereby we witness his consistency in putting out a must-have quality works. The 1st track on the A side is called ‘You & Me’. Podium techno tune where the 909 drums and the fat baseline interact perfectly with musical theme. Stojche starts off with the pad lines, building them up with various chords, synth swabs and dubby layers that strike in perfect timing. This one is real immersive moody groover. A2 -‘Mechanism’ has an electric piano aspect as key texture that jams along the track, and later the amazing string arrangement creates a lot of space for the drum sequence to bring the mood to another level. This tune could do a lot of damage on the dancefloor if dropped in a right time. B1- ‘Revolt’ kicks off with a storming groove right from the start. Uncompromising drums with the acidic synth keys that rumble in ‘4 on the floor beat’ that showcase Chicago house influences from the past. B2 -‘Podrum’ is the closing track of this single that carries a real strong emotion and deepness. Classic Detroit influenced after hour tune approached in style. The warmth stretches across the entire soundscape, where we witness Stojche’s skills to create an essential spiritual deep house number. Dubbed out new version of a Japanese reggae classic from 1982 by UK-based Tokyo Riddim Band. Recorded and mixed by the legendary Prince Fatty in South London, it's a fusion of past and present, East and West.
Three generations of female musicians from Japan come together, blending reggae drums, funky bass, and the smooth City Pop guitar, all magically dubbed-out live on stage. Tokyo Riddim Band is a culture clash phenomenon unlike anything else.

Championed by Gilles Peterson, and featured on NTS, Pitchfork and Bandcamp Daily, the group was born out of Time Capsule’s wildly popular compilation “Tokyo Riddim 1976-1985”. In just a matter of months they have sold out headline shows across London and supported Kyoto Jazz Massive at Jazz Cafe, conjuring a raucous, dubby dancefloor that brings the classic Japanese reggae sound of the ‘70s and ‘80s to life for a new generation.

Led by the inimitable pianist and composer Izumi ‘Mimi’ Kobayashi who featured on the original compilation, Tokyo Riddim Band are set to release a series of 7” singles in the coming months with more live shows planned throughout the summer 2024.

The first single, 'Denshi Lenzi', reinvents the Natural Mystic riddim of the original Japanese production, infusing it with dubbed-out vocals, sirens, and electrifying e-tom sounds, delivering an authentic reggae/dub experience with a distinct UK flair.

The Remedy is a classic, soulful house bounce with glossy, sultry jazz infusions - peak Summertime vibes. I also pay tribute to my afro-electronic, percussive roots with Ritual which is the complete opposite of The Remedy. In 2021, we welcomed Endrik Schroeder to the Bordello family with his Second Breath 12”. The memorable hooks and attention to detail that characterised his first appearance run deep in his latest. The Hope sees the French producer accompanied by a true legend of electronics, Caroline Hervé aka Kittin. Hervé’s penchant for combining brighter tones with darker shades is evident from the needle. Industrial hiss pierces swirling vocals. Clean claps, warm bass and crystalline chords give way to woe-streaked lyrics, lyrics that ascend into an arc of pulsating synthwave pain. Schroeder takes the reins on the flip. A beam of light is cast over throbbing arpeggios and a slicing snare, notes drifting ever higher as “The Dogs” takes hold. Strings swim as a spread of sounds grow, a palpable energy building under Schroeder’s watchful ear and hand in this seven minute plus odyssey into his machines.
