OVERVIEW:
What started as an experiment, born in the stillness of the early months of 2020, Metalheadz and SB81 are proud to present 'B292'.
The largest body of music ever released by Metalheadz, 'B292' is made up of 29 tracks across 2 defined parts with a strong emphasis on old skool influences. It's SB81's experiences as a youth that give him a real understanding of this era, something that cannot be replicated and where authenticity always stands tall.
Beginning as a small batch of tracks it wasn't long before Goldie encouraged SB81 to explore the idea of an album, and via several trips around Low Hill in Wolverhampton (where SB81 lived until the age of 30), it was here where the nostalgia and drive took hold for good.
SB81 calls this project a 'pre-1994 Metalheadz sound', and although no 29-track album deserves such a brief description it does seem so fitting - even more so with a huge amount of respect and admiration for labels such as Reinforced, Production House and Moving Shadow embodied throughout.
Make no mistake, this is in no way purely an album that tries to recreate the old. The music at its core remains as cutting edge as ever with a fresh on the ears feel and a rave-ready approach.
SB81's 'B292' releases in full on 31st May 2024, including a 4x coloured vinyl package, bespoke full colour sleeve designed by the incredibly talent EPOD and a bonus box set available exclusively via the Metalheadz website and Bandcamp.

Sparked by an invitation from Goldie in 2018, the project developed organically into a statement piece, shaped by shifting environments and a relentless drive to refine his craft. Quartz, also known as Elliot Garvey, has long stood apart from the noise. A Welsh producer with little interest in visibility or self-promotion, he has built a reputation on substance alone. The newly remastered Terminator EP by Goldie's Rufige Kru alias is here. Originally released in 1992, Terminator is widely regarded as one of the most influential tracks in jungle and drum and bass history. Sitting at a pivotal moment in the genre's evolution, the EP marked the beginning of a journey for both Goldie and Metalheadz that is still going strong today. Meticulously restored from the original DAT tapes, this remastered edition brings renewed clarity and low-end weight to a seminal release. The EP's groundbreaking experiments in timestretching and cinematic atmospheres remain as impactful as ever, a reminder of why it inspired an entire generation of producers. Releasing on 2x 12" 180g vinyl with a full artwork sleeve on 1st August.

In a world where individuality can struggle to shine amidst an overwhelming flood of content, Mako's superior production stands out as a beacon, demanding not just recognition, but active listening.
Mako's commitment to his musical community is evident throughout the album, with contributions from long-time collaborators Fields, Hydro, Villem, and Mikal, each bringing their unique expertise to the project. The album also features a special collaboration with the late Marcus Intalex, a friendship that blossomed in the years before Marcus' untimely passing and one that continues to bear fruit.

Bristolian Stephen Redmore, known through his drum & bass alias Mako, is finally set to unleash his forthcoming LP on Metalheadz, something which he's been working on behind the scenes for some time. The label head of Utopia is well known for his slick production and penchant for underground anthems, something which has been seen again and again on his own imprint, as well as across a plethora of labels which have acted as pillars for the drum & bass world. Having already made his presence felt before within the catalogue of Metalheadz, as well as Break's Symmetry Recordings, Dispatch, Soul:R and Samurai Music, he's a valuable part of the genre's make up, which is why the announcement of his forthcoming LP ignited widespread anticipation.
Directly translated to 'a body of art', Mako's LP 'Oeuvre' is representative of his life's work in music production. The grinding bassline of 'Life Cycle' alongside the late Andy Skopes, a testament to the legacy he left behind, sets the tone. 'Flip it' has already been doing the club rounds, as the moody Photek atmospherics of 'One Reality' and more affectional twists of 'Holding You' adds to the tracklist's versatility.
'The Scenic Values' underscores Mako's love of Krust and Doc Scott production grooves, whilst the experimental soundscape of 'Hoxton Home' heralds back to old Lemon D. A Colourful Storm presents the first vinyl edition of Yahho no Potori, a treasured recording by one of the most cherished contemporary Japanese folk outfits, Eddie Marcon.
Comprised of the core duo of Eddie Corman and Jules Marcon, Eddie Marcon was formed in Himeji in 2001, following Corman's involvement in noise-rock duo Coa and Shinsuke Michishita's fabled psychedelic outfit, LSD March. Marking a stylistic shift into delicate, acoustic territories, the duo would release dozens of albums and singles, mostly self-released through their Pong-Kong imprint, that have seen little distribution outside of Japan.
Recorded over a particularly humid summer and autumn, Yahho no Potori sees Eddie Marcon drifting from the delicate psychedelia of their debut EP into traditional song-based structures. A touching document of joy, tenderness and wistfulness, Marcon's deft yet effortless strum sets a stylish backdrop for Corman's voice to ascend. Desirous yet self-assured, Corman breathes life into an intimate space adorned by the elegant instrumentation of Yashuhisa Mizatani, Yoriro Tatekawa, Ran Mizutani and Saya Ueno, whose ingenuous collaborative instinct has been gifted to listeners through collectives such as Tenniscoats, Maher Shalal Hash Baz and Spirit Fest. Here, she also lends her engineering prowess, having produced the album.

Originally released in 1986, Brother Resistance's Rapso Take Over blends calypso, reggae, disco, funk and poetry to create the artist’s signature Rapso sound.

Now for the first time we can hear Brother Resistance’s finest work remastered and repressed. field recordings made by Pedro Vian at the Dia Beacon Foundation in NYC, specifically inside Richard
Serra's sculptures. These recordings are interwoven with the ambient percussion and melodies
