P.E.A.R.L. returns home with this brand new EP, after some exquisite releases in his very own Falling Ethics label it'
s time for a new adventure in our label. Sergio's sound has a distinctive raw and dry appeal, focusing in sound sculpture and direct grooves, always pushing the edge of his equipment, using just the necessary elements, away from saturation and trendiness.
'Internal Pressure' is the first number in this slice of wax, fat bass drums, hi frequency pulses, metalic components and subtle textures and ambiences all mixed up to create a solid mixing weapon. 'Dissolution' is less bright, more filtered and opaque the groove flows from low frequencies to full spectrum slowly, being almost static, with almost all the elements up from the beginning. The drones and textures evolve and change through the arrangement while drums reach their peak point almost at the end. Great construction tool.
The B-side offers a rework of 'Dissolution' by fellow producer Tensal. The well trained veteran makes his own vision of the track with his trademark style, always keeping the flow going, wisely playing with a few elements to create constant changes and twists in an intelligent techno exercise.
'Exceed By Delicacy' closes the EP, stereo panned synth lines, heavy subbass action and granular textures adding spice to the continuous feel.
A solid four tracker aimed directly to the most transgressive dancefloors around. More

P.E.A.R.L. is no stranger to the Weekend Circuit inner circle. Having released his ‘Desolation’ EP on the London label in 2015, his unique and refreshing productions slot comfortably in to the label's sonic aesthetic. Pulsating, submerged field recordings and natural sounds bristle next to menacingly hewn tones, rhythms and textures, creating a strange and disorientating environment across 4 parts. EP opener 'Body Arched I' encapsulates this alien-esque landscape, beckoning us into the P.E.A.R.L. sound-world. Slowly unwinding drones gradually draw us in, layers of almost synthetic jungle sounds, field recordings and eerie atmospherics create images of unseen landscapes in our minds. One gets the impression that is merely the calm before the storm, it will be a long, dark and revealing night. Second part 'Body Arched II' ups the ante considerably, a blistering assault on the senses. Cavernous kick-drums dance with repeated synth lines and synewaves creating a narcotic, unforgiving and swirling miasma of epic proportions. 'Body Arched III' opens the second side of this formidable slab of vinyl. The energy levels are still high, the mood somewhat foreboding. Unapologetic, urgent and oozing kinetic energy this 3rd movement continues on a journey that will sweep you deeper into the blackest night, all systems failed, flying blind. In the right hands a piece like this can wield colossal power. The fourth and final part of 'Body Arched' taps into a more psychedelic vein, a minimalistic mantra-esque piece that continually spirals to the very outer edges of restraint. Listen closely and you can hear the shamans feet kicking up dust in the clearing. A pensive and sparse piece and the perfect note on which P.E.A.R.L. will leave us bewildered.

There was a time when to die was something slightly different from what it is today. Back in the last days of the middle age, some hidden monk was concerned about how to die properly, according to the catholic standarts of that era, so he wrote a book that was a cornerstone in that period.
This has been the leitmotiv and ispiration in the concept that drives this album, the Ars Moriendi book from 1415, a book that gave some clues about how to die properly, avoiding lack of faith, despair, impatience, avarice or spiritual pride, all those actually track titles in this compendium.

Weekend Circuit stride on with the second part of P.E.A.R.L.’s ‘Desolation’ EP welcoming Francois X, Reeko, I/Y and Jeff Rushin to this series of remixes, servicing the generation with every bit of expansive energy techno music has to offer. Francois X’s remix of ‘In Space' architectures raw, artificial, and flat-out production with gritty realism and brutal drum sequencing. Taking the original and making it his own, externally imposing in on itself, this peak time pattern leaves you energised and hectic. Reeko takes on the title track ’Desolation’, the result is plagued with atmosphere; stripping, capturing and examines you before you have chance to do so to it. The tracks estranged essence and amalgam of sound is immediately apparent. It has you uncertain and poised for more, pulsating with darkness at every turn. I/Y's 'Reduction' reduces nothing of the sort, constantly fluxing between varying percussion types of both hi and low energy. Considering nothing more than to possess you with filter laden drum pads and a stark reality, IY have created a hypnotic vision of creative compulsion that'll have you dance yourself silly. Rushin delivers his sonic canvas of sound; every bit his own, this original piece of production magnifies any opportunity to cause dancefloor commotion. Emphatically crafted, this thought proving and thunderously loud and vivid record will keep you exhilarated from start to finish.

Celebrating all that's ear-piercing and Techno, P.E.A.R.L. surges through with an emanating soundscape of near, far and leftfield embodiment of energy. Following on from the well received Ground Fault Interrupt, P.E.A.R.L. brings his Spanish stamina and Berlin influence to the table in Biblical amounts. Abrasive and dancefloor-focused "DESOLATION" is no stranger to the harder sounds of percussion. With a subtle ghost, and ever tense, this track rides through red traffic lights, and begins at the end of your comfort zone; Techno at its best. Evoking a visceral reaction, "IN SPACE" exerts its crude, unearthly series of paranormal Techno sound from the get go. A long drawn tool of the trade, comprising of little more than drone and percussion, this gives way to be adapted into any mix in the right hands. "FLAME ON EARTH" doffs in salutation to the afterparty. With a constant identity of beep and bleeps - continually growing from somewhere from within itself - this track leaves a trail where no path lies. Cascading between dark and light, this is a release of effectual Techno worthy of any record bag, regardless of your sub-genre preference - a real weapon of profession.

The forthcoming falling ethics effort [FEXLVN003] contains tracks by three stalwarts of modern day techno. UVB's 3000 years of lies is a work of percussive endurance which contains five minutes of thumping drums, a low down synth roar and several squeeks of fx. Kastil's Arcanism is an hypnotic endavour into uncharted territories. The main sounds have a repetitive and clear quality that pierce through eardrums and will grab the attention of crowds. Amsterdam based Dimi Angelis closes down this three track effort. ''Flirting With The Machine'' is a lenghty voyage into pure synthesis. A monotonous sound with razor sharp clarity serves as the spine of this track while the kickdrum dictates the pace. Adventurous music at it's best.

The Scientific Americans - Among Bodge Watt
With this EP, an attempt is made at documenting the vibrant action happening during the late 1970s and early 1980s in the Pioneer Valley area of Western Massachusetts, US. The story is richer than the snapshot we present here, and a more detailed account is to be found in the accompanying book that can be purchased separately.
The Five Colleges in Hampshire County congregated a vast student population that inevitably interacted with the towns in the area. Bars, music and record stores, live music and a lot of experimentation and free thinking. Hampshire College, especially, promoted new approaches to teaching, subjects that might be considered radical by some even today, although a more favourable context would now surely exist for openly debating such topics as American Indians, Kayak Design, Black Oral Tradition, Food Management, etc. And the music? The immediate "punk effect" motivated the creation of numerous bands, many short lived, others evolving into New Wave / Power Pop territory, eventually crossing into Post-Punk experimentation. What is captured in "Noho EP" is a more electronic disposition, favoured by the existence of EMS gear and other equipment at Hampshire College and University of Massachusetts. We chose to focus on a group of musicians who, for a time, played together in different combinations under the loose umbrella of the Tekno Tunes label and the structure around it.
These musicians come from very different backgrounds and the nucleus portrayed here consisted of Christopher Vine, Elliott Sharp, James Whittemore and Nicholas Brown.
Of the several line-up changes The Scientific Americans went through, it was actually only the duo of Chris Vine and Jim Whittemore who recorded "Among Bodge Watt". Never before released, it is a companion piece to their track "El Salvador" available on the 1981 ROIR tape-album "Load & Go!". The Sci Ams were founders of the Tekno Tunes label and also created the Tekno Tours "concert promotion agency", under which name they exposed local audiences to bands such as The Stranglers, The Slits, Pylon, Pere Ubu, The Psychedelic Furs, The Bush Tetras, Steel Pulse, etc. Their own sound kept progressing but at its best there's a solid dub undercurrent, pretty obvious in "Among Bodge Watt".
Human Error was born out of a collective jam by Chris Vine, Elliott Sharp, Jim Whittemore and Nick Brown. Elliott Sharp had moved to Northampton in August of 1978 and naturally became involved in the local music scene, hooking up first with Whittemore at a hi-fi audio store where he worked at the time. Basement jams followed stimulating conversations, and other musicians joined the sessions. "Clandestinator" sounds gorgeously loose, an effortless groove coming from a quasi-dub set-up. Nothing here seems calculated, the music just flows, contagious and irregular as the handclaps in the mix.
The Higher Primates later evolved into a "proper" band but started as Nick Brown's solo project. The Primates only ever released a (now sought-after) 7" single in 1980 (on the Tekno Tunes label, precisely). Both tracks on "Noho EP" were recorded the following year and never released until now. "Auto Music in the Disco Dub Style" is self-explanatory, with a steady, mid-tempo TR808 beat running through, supporting synth squelches, echoes and reverbs, a fat bassline, dissonant melodic lines and odd vocal snippets. Kind of a DJ tool when the concept was barely in place. The more uptempo "Teresa Variations" adds a Fender Jazz bass and Selmer sax to the electronics. It actually sounds more "Disco", even with the robotic, unintelligible vocals. On top of this, the vibe is sealed by the overall Radiophonic Workshop analogue strangeness applied to a dance beat. Red Seal - Spinning Top

Red Seal - Twister

Red Seal - Hula Loop
Only a handful of releases exist from Red Seal, but it's quality over quantity that is on display with these guys.
The 1996 original was released on Rob's Records, a label founded by the legendary Rob Gretton (RIP), former Joy Division
and New Order manager, as well as Factory Records and Hacienda co-owner. Penned by Red Seal and produced by
Martin Moscrop, of A Certain Ratio fame, this 3 tracker would set the World's dancefloors alight and become a much lauded
and bonafide classic. 'Spinning Top' kicks off with flanged hats and dark brooding synths, the breakbeat is tough and delivers a potent punch.
The wam analogue bass keeps the track moving throughout, the distinctive lead line and arpeggios build and drop
in all the right places. 'Twister' continues the vibe, the heavy weight bass and top drawer percussion deliver the funk.
The deft synth programming gives this track a lighter feel, but is no less energetic. Finally 'Hula Loop' heads off into tripped
out acid territory, the break beats roll, and the infectious 303 undulates in a way that both captivates and enthrals.
This EP is packed with peak time heat, an essential rarity sought after by diggers around the globe. Unavailable for decades,
a repress has most definitely been long overdue. 'Spinning Top' has been legitimately re-released with the full involvement
of Red Seal, lovingly remastered by London's Curve Pusher from the original sources especially for Mint Condition. 100% legit,
licensed and released. Dug, remastered, repackaged and brought to you by the caring folks at your favourite reissue label -

A1 Alarico - 0 Kelvin

B1 Alarico - Asma
B2 Alarico - Sunburn
B3 Alarico - Drops Of You
Sales Note
Alarico returns to Mutual Rytm with his 'Drops Of You' EP, packed with his mind-bending signature rhythms while focussing on a more minimal and atemporal approach than before.
Milan-based artist Alarico has firmly arrived on the world stage in recent years. Taking cues from the harder realms of techno of the 90s, he adds his own quirky rhythms and quickened sense of groove to showcase his modern take on the genre. Building on material dropping via his own Katana Records, with high-profile support from bigname DJs across the scene, he breaks new ground again here on this compelling new EP as he returns to SHDW's label Mutual Rytm with 'Drops Of You'.
Excellent opener '0 Kelvin' races out of the blocks with wiry synths and percussion that sounds like knives being sharpened, all over tight, punchy techno drums. 'One More' then gets more twisted with freaky synth line scurrying about the mix while hammering hits and bouncy drum programming races onwards into an unknown future.
'Asma' slips into a deeper but no less impactful groove - the tightly coiled drum funk is overlaid with soulful vocal whispers and militant snares that cannot fail to sweep dancers away. Next, the slick 'Sunburn' keeps the pace high and is another warp-speed techno excursion with bold drum patterns and dry hi-hats cutting up the beats. It's a fulsome sound fleshed out with great synth detail and euphoric vocal cries, before closer 'Drops Of You' layers broken beats, vocal snippets and psychedelic synth colours into an intense and emotional workout.
Alongside the vinyl cuts, three digital-only offerings are also loaded into this one as a trio of treats in the form of 'Sino', 'What For' and 'Erased', with each track harnessing pacy, energetic rhythms, a mix of bright and murky sonics, and tunnelling grooves crafted for maximum impact.

Sales Note
SHDW & Obscure Shape are back with their second EP for 2023, following their debut release on their mothership label From Another Mind. The German duo's latest release, 'Basic Instinct', is a collection of five dancefloor anthems that provide the perfect soundtrack for any moment in a set. The EP features their signature die-cut cover and includes a digital bonus track.
'Basic Instinct' is the 12th installment of their Mutual Rytm label and showcases the pair's exceptional production skills and innovative approach to electronic music, with a mix of old and new school flavors, vivid drum programming, organic percussion and captivating melodic elements. The A-side kicks off with their signature track 'Eraser', which blends crisp drums with warm sub-bass and piercing synth stabs.
"Dancer in the Dark" takes a deeper dive into late-night territory, combining lush dub-influenced synths with a rolling acid bassline. "Disturbing Behaviour" closes the A-side and shows why the 303 has become an iconic tool for producers. Despite the sirens dominating around the breakdowns, the simple two-tone acid stab is the defining element of the track, complemented by amen-break leaning drums that hint at a UK rave direction.
The B-side goes in a different direction, with 'Memories of Nobody' taking a filtered and less aggressive approach, as echoing dub pads gather around a growling bassline and kick drum combination, topped off by brushed hats. The EP concludes with 'The Last Seduction', a track that reveals the full organic breadth of the previously hinted at Amen break. The fusion of said amen break with the warmth and familiarity of waxing and waning pads is reminiscent of the golden days of electronic music. With its expertly crafted soundscapes and diverse range of styles, 'Basic Instinct' is yet another stunning release from SHDW & Obscure Shape, to be released on 5 May 2023.

Release Note
Lars Huismann makes a quick return to SHDW & Obscure Shape's newly minted Mutual Rytm imprint as he delivers a medley of classic, groove-driven techno productions via his "Sounds From The Past I" EP.
With recent releases via labels such as Slam's iconic Soma, Berlin-based DJ and producer Lars Huismann is quickly growing to become a familiar name of note within today's modern techno landscape. Having featured as one of the artists on the label's debut V/A release in February, with the German set to feature as a regular across the imprint in coming months, he unveils fresh shades to his sound palette on his return to Mutual Rytm with a combination of six slick techno cuts across his "Sounds From The Past I" EP.
The powerful, rolling dynamics of "Surge" open proceedings as Huismann quickly sets his stall, while "Collison" veers into slick, looping territories as the energy and tension are kept tight and high. Next, "Echo" ups the pace as tough kicks meet zipping melodies, filtered chords and looping vocal interjections amongst a medley of flurrying percussion licks, before "Funk Shed" takes cues from its title and showcases a classy blend of classic Detroit-influenced sonics guided by sweeping synths. Title cut "Sounds From The Past I" brings with it flashes of serenity and peace, before erupting and spiralling effortlessly into infectious and captivating drum grooves, before closing the show via the rich yet muscular tones of final offering and digital bonus track "Jackin".
Lars Huismann "Sounds From The Past I" EP drops via Mutual Rytm in March 2022.

Sales Note
Lars Huismann drops fourth essential release on Mutual Rytm with 'Catharsis', following his successful 'Sounds From The Past' trilogy.
German producer Lars Huismann has a percussive and groove-driven take on techno that often comes with scintillating melodies and separates him from others amongst the genre. His releases have come on labels such as Dolly and Soma; however, he has also quickly become an essential member of the Mutual Rytm family, having contributed to the label's 'Federation Of Rytm III' VA as well as serving up a trio of forward-thinking EPs in the form of his 'Sounds From The Past' trilogy. Delivering yet more stellar material on SHDW's thriving imprint, his latest EP delivers the newest evolution in his sound while maintaining his signature sonic essence.
The hunched techno funk of 'Divergence' kicks off with plenty of plenty up energy and tight, bouncy synth vamps, while 'Portal' goes deep into a futuristic landscape with static-laced synths and oversized hi-hat ringlets that ramp up the pressure. The mighty 'Neural' is brilliantly functional and linear techno with a playful synth that rides up and down the mix as the sleek and slamming drums race onwards. 'Riot' brings some extra raved-up madness with serrated synths and raw percussive energy, and 'Technician' then slips into a deeper, more paired back sound with liquid synth lashing about the mix as dubby undercurrents power along the punchy rhythms and freaky vocals bring the menace. Digital bonus cuts 'Incognito', a fizzing, busy, textured techno workout, and the machine soul of 'Submerged' close out this high-grade EP in style.
