Jimi Tenor & Cold Diamond & Mink - What Are You Doing?
There are certain occasions when you can truly feel the stars align. One of these is when the interstellar voyager of cosmic soul Jimi Tenor finally lands his spaceship at full force on a Timmion recording. In 2024, he will be serving us two spaced out album sessions recorded together with Cold Diamond & Mink. Jimi is no stranger in these space ways as he has operated behind the Timmion scenes for years, furnishing several of the label's artists with his flute and reeds artistry. The first album out is titled "Is There Love In Outer Space?", which begs the question with the force of five extended tracks that are guaranteed to blow your mind to the stratosphere. The pieces are loaded with whooshing and glistening synth noises and span from lofi space funk to cinematic soundscapes. The sweetly floating title track is like some of those galactic ballads that rare soul collectors are spending their pensions on. At the other side of the spectrum, album closer `What Are You Doing?' sounds like Sun Ra sat down at a JBs session, and is straight up meant to get that booty moving. Combined with the raw soul prowess of CD&M, Jimi is able to refine new shades from his already impressive repertoire of talent. Even if you are a friend of his previous work you might not have heard him get down quite like this.

Emilia Sisco With Cold Diamond & Mink - Trouble
2
Emilia Sisco With Cold Diamond & Mink - It'll Get Better
After her debut Timmion single "Don't Believe You Like That", Emilia Sisco is back in the fold with a double sider of the highest order. Emilia seems to feel right at home with the material that she cooks up with Cold Diamond & Mink, filling both songs to the brim with soul.
Despite its title, "Trouble" strolls along with a delicately sweet mid-tempo groove and a nicely abundant arrangement, each of Emilia's lyrical calls getting a response from the background harmonizers and the band steady tightening up while the song builds towards its conclusion. The B-side slows things down to a lush southern soul drawl, coming off like a classy forgotten Hi session.
Both of these tracks present a singer who has paid her dues by studying the craft and polishing it for years in front of live audiences. Now it's time for Emilia to push her voice out there on the wings of her own original songs, a feature that we've come to expect from the Timmion stable.
This release comes with a folded cardboard picture sleeve. More

2
Jonny Benavidez & Cold Diamond & Mink - Tell Me That You Love Me (Instrumental)
This next chapter of Timmion's talent scouting in the US will land home with the Purple Heart of Soul, and turn even the coldest of us to the love side. No prisoners taken. It's time for Jonny Benavidez to lay his falsetto over the ever smooth backing of Cold Diamond & Mink. With the sweet as candy mid-pacer "Tell Me That You Love Me" he should go the whole mile. Those, who have an insatiable thirst for crossover soul sounds by groups such as The Commands and TSU Toronadoes, should snatch up this piece of wax without haste. Texas made and California raised, Jonny has polished his teeth for years in doo wop groups and sung backing harmonies for big names such as Archie Bell and Eugene Pitt from The Jive Five. Currently residing in Austin, Texas he's forming and coating even more sweet tracks for Timmion. It might not break the charts, but for some with the proper ear for beauty, this will undoubtedly be the new soul record of the year. Have a listen, if you are one of those privileged people.

Nicole Willis & The Soul Investigators - One in a Million (Instrumental)
The second single from the Nicole Willis album Happiness in Every Style opens up the promised spectrum of joy into new ecstatic states. One In A Million is an unapologetic love song, which while connecting to this most traditional mode in soul music, also makes it correct for the dancefloor. Connoisseur terms such as 'crossover' or 'modern soul' might prove to be accurate here, but a membership in the soul scene is not mandatory to get down. The main thing is that this up-tempo horn-driven groover, propelled by The Soul Investigators (as the usual suspects), should make things move inside, tickling nerves in scenesters as well as the layman, as their breakthrough hit If This Ain't Love did back in the day.The world and the music business is different for Nicole Willis and the boys from up north. Nevertheless, One In A Million might be the underground hit that nobody saw coming. Or it just as well might not, but this is no excuse for not making quality music

Carlton Jumel Smith & Cold Diamond & Min - Heaven In My Arms (Instrumental)
There is never any doubt that soul is in the house, when you hear the poetic guitar and organ licks from Cold Diamond & Mink starting to twirl together, and out of nowhere Carlton Jumel Smith steps effortlessly inside the groove. "Heaven In My Arms" is the second in line of Carlton's new trio of singles on Timmion, and what a treat it is: deep as Mississippi mud, light as a feather. This time our trans-Atlantic tag team delivers a melodic beat ballad of the highest order, which should sweep fans of lowrider soul off their wheels. Spanish Harlem-bred Carlton has been steadily churning out gems since meeting the Timmion folks some years back and shows no signs of stopping yet. This is a love song with plenty of heart to give everybody. Just take it all in, and enjoy the instrumental on the flipside while you're at it.

Carlton Jumel Smith & Cold Diamond & Min - The Loveliness Of You (Instrumental)
The opening rimshot drums of "Loveliness Of You" by Carlton Jumel Smith and Cold Diamond & Mink have sunday soul written all over them. This easy breezy groover closes Calton's 2022 singles trilogy with a style that echoes classic Hi productions for Al Green from the early 1970's. It's clear that on Timmion Records, Carlton has found a home far away from home. Carlton's soulful demeanor is hard not to like, and if there is any truth to what he's singing here, some even seem to fall in love with it. The recipe is not complicated here, and there is no reason to keep it a secret: just a steady groove by a tight rhythm section, horns that lift the beat off the ground and a voice that wraps itself around your heart. And sometimes that's all you need.

Jeb Loy Nichols - The World Loves A Fool
2
Jeb Loy Nichols - Not There Yet
For the last single release from Jeb Loy Nichols' album, Timmion takes us back to the beginning. Of the recent "Jeb Loy" album that is, since its first track graces the single's A side. If you've not yet hopped onboard with this talented American-born but Welsh-based songwriter/singer, this is a great place to start. The spoken word intro, following on the coattails of Cold Diamond & Mink's guitar licks and horn transition in "The World Loves A Fool", is a classic storytelling move. Through his mother's interesting proverb, Jeb sets the scene for what's to follow, a lesson for the listener about life's complexities. On the B side, we find one of the most beautiful tunes of the album, "Not There Yet". It's a gentle southern-style soul groover where Jeb lets his writing truly shine. Backed with a shimmering organ and CD&M's pulsating rhythm, Jeb recants the experiences of a musician on the road through the eyes of a crow. Jeb Loy Nichols can crank out songs that touch and make things move inside the listener. If you're looking for that personal hit that will fly far over the heads of the masses, you've come to the right place. Double-sided pleasure for your ears, mind and soul.

The Soul Investigators - Vulture's Prayer (feat. Jimi Tenor)
2
The Soul Investigators - Bad Vibrations (feat. Jimi Tenor)
Repress of the funky instrumental 45 by The Soul Investigators featuring Jimi Tenor! For those into sounds from the deep dungeons of the soul jazz underground, the 2nd quarter of 2015 looks promising. Out of its mist come The Soul Investigators in a slick red convertible, featuring a mean flautist riding shotgun, a position we Finns like to call the seat for those in fear. The velvet smooth winds emanate from none other than Jimi Tenor, a person some might even describe as a renaissance man. The sufficiently psychedelic jazzier exercise "Vulture's Prayer" should get your mind wondering into a turn of the 70's London, featuring a hippie gone bad, smacked out in furs in a hedonistic basement bacchanal, just before discovering himself at the opening desert scene of the "Holy Mountain". Flipping the disc over to "Bad Vibrations" we find ourself in a more funkier urban setting, possibly at a Yusuf Lateef inspired bar session in Chicago's South Side. Don't know, why they call them bad, because they sound so good. Better get yourself a slice and why not even a second helping.

2
Nicole Willis & The Soul Investigators - Where Are You Now
Now and then you might find yourself painted in a corner. It is usually the case that you can only blame yourself for ending up there. The painter of shapes and words, Nicole Willis has painted herself for the past ten years into the periphery of Helsinki, Finland, only to sing her soul out. Now she's back at grinding her vocal axe with The Soul Investigators. Approaching the release of their third joint album in late 2015, it's time to test the waters with Paint Me in a Corner b/w Where Are You Now. Neither of the tracks carries much of a humour element. The first one points its pounding existential finger towards us all, urging us to break the chains of normality, while the beautiful melancholia of the second track rocks the listener in a mid-tempo groove paradise. These two tracks might be just the thing to kick you in the chest with enough soul in order to get out of the house. Maybe even dance by yourself in a desolate corner of the bar.

An internet image search of the Welsh countryside looks exactly like you might have pictured it. The grassy knolls, grass-topped rooftops, horses and lambs on the green pasture, the winding roads; beauty that manages to dodge the cliché by a hundred miles. When it comes to the instrumentals of Jeb Loy Nichols' album "Jeb Loy", recorded far away from his Wales home in a Finnish basement studio, modern pastoral soul might as well be the appropriate term. Void of Jeb's raspy vocals, but still featuring his acoustic guitar, an air of serenity emerges from the tracks. The crow has flown away into the grey clouds leaving the misty airwaves for the drums and bass, guitars, organ and horns, the familiar tools of Cold Diamond & Mink. And these fellows know how to build an ambience, just have a listen to the instrumental version of "Living It Up". "Jeb Loy" might be the independent soul album of the year. But as all of the single releases from it are vocal tracks, this release is your only chance to cop these instrumentals. You'll find that they have stories of their own to tell. Some pretty, others joyful and all inspiring.

Release Notes:
More than once Jay Richford and Gary Stevan’s Feelings has been described as the greatest library record ever released. Of course Be With can’t be seen to be playing favourites, but we have to admit, it’s pretty good. Insanely rare and immensely sought-after, it’s a tough funk, street jazz masterpiece coveted for many years by collectors of all musical genres.
Since its original release on Italian label Carosello in 1974, Feelings has appeared on several labels with different sleeves and even under a different artist. Indeed cult library label Conroy put it out in one of their iconic red sleeves in 1976 and yes, Feelings has indeed had more than one modern re-issue since these “original” releases. But a record this special deserves to be kept in press and we think it deserves the Be With treatment.
No, Jay Richford and Gary Stevan aren’t two of the most Italian sounding names. As the story goes these were the pseudonyms adopted by Stefano Torossi and Giancarlo Gazzani who wrote the album but couldn’t use their real names on the original release for legal reasons. But Stefano Torossi himself later both clarified and confused the tale further by explaining that Feelings was the work of four people not just Gazzani and himself. Fellow composers and musicians Sandro Brugnolini and Puccio Roelens also worked on the album and as Torossi himself explained “we all worked together”, with all four gents “dividing the royalties in equal parts… that’s the story.” Right, so, with that all sorted out let’s get back to talking about the music. And what music it is.
Long hailed as a holy grail of library music, Feelings is the epitome of the sort of cinematic orchestral jazzy funk that is “that 70s library music sound”. Infectiously funky, deliciously melodic and with impeccible, elegant production, this record is the showcase for a stunning set of compositions and arrangements and with performances that are nothing short of virtuoso.
The record’s first side lifts off with “Flying High”, soaring brilliant and shimmering. Funk licks, menacing strings and swaggering horns combine for an ice-cold intro groove that Isaac Hayes would surely have envied, before the steady-paced drums deliver the slo-mo TKO. The string-drenched cop-funk of “Going Home” raises the tempo. All funky quick-fire bass lines and killer electric guitar soloing. A real thriller.
“Walking In The Dark” positively drips in blaxploitation-funk drama strings and horn struts, all laced with delicate drums, velvet piano and more filthy wah-wah. “Fighting For Life” is another funk-fuelled workout built around an effortlessly relentless drum track that refuses to give up until even the stiffest-necked head is nodding.
The loping, open drum break that guides the much-loved “Feeling Tense” through its early stages would be good enough on its own. The heavy bass gloss, swirling strings and ominous horns that follow take things to the next level.
The second side opens with another favourite “Running Fast”, and the track does precisely that. This is one fine rollicking chase theme underpinned by frenetic (yet funky) Fender Rhodes and skipping bass and drums. Those sweeping strings are a gorgeous extra. It’s a deliciously feel-good groove that sets the heart racing.
“Loving Tenderly” envelops us in warm, velvety night-time vibes with easy listening horns and slinky strings dialing up the seduction. Definitely one for the lithe lovers out there. The pace picks up on the electrifying “Fearing Much” where strings dart around deep bass, buzzing guitars and another funky drum break. The lush, melancholic “Being Friendly” is another easy beauty, all warm Rhodes and strings. Majestic stuff that puts an aural arm around you. The climactic “Having Fun” rides a pulsating, bass-heavy drum break with snatches of a funky guitar refrain, some luxurious keys, sweeping strings and triumphant horns. Sensational.
“Feelings” is a profoundly appropriate title for such an emotionally funky and genuinely affecting record. Groove-laden bass, irrepressible horns, sweet flute lines, warm Rhodes, lush string arrangements, blaxploitation-styled wah-wah guitars and so, so much more make this one of the finest instrumental soul LPs of the 70s, if not of all time.
The audio for this re-issue of Feelings comes from the original analogue tapes and has been remastered for vinyl by Be With regular Simon Francis and cut by Pete Norman. The same care has been taken by the Be With team to restore that glorious original Carosello sleeve. Feelings is almost too good to be true. Feels good all over.

Julian Anthony - Virtual Reality
Repress!
In dialogue with both past and future, Slapfunk protégé Julian Anthony drops his debut solo EP and touches down with a 4-track invocation of classic 90s house templates.
Tripped out sensibility meets sci-fi tendency as ‘Full Moon Fever’ and ‘Open Minded’ deliver full-bodied exercises in total dance floor immersion. Fractal fuel for the vision quest, they’re sophisticated like the finest dream house while channelling the buoyant, jacking heft of timeless Chi-town material.
Wide eyed but tuff, ‘Stormy Tuesday’ rolls in with more of the groove-forward drive that typifies Anthony’s best work. It’s just the kind of immaculate gear we've come to expect from the Dutchman, and evoking golden era Dream 2 Science, ‘Virtual Reality’ ploughs the same furrow of propulsive, ‘90s-indebted house. Deep space projections radiating togetherness and warmth from the start. More

More

Pete Blaker (NL) has teamed up with Belgium's Rheinzand to re-work tracks from their last Album 'Atlantis Atlantis'. This is by no means your standard 'remix' album!
Pete has sonically re-furbished the tracks getting the band to do new instrumental layers and vocal dubs to enrich his versions to recreate a totally new take on the songs. With Pete leading the way in his production style, showcasing another side to his skills than his traditional disco edits which we know & love. The Album flows through different electronic frequencies taking the listener on an unparalleled journey into another dimension.
Pete says "Back in 2021 I was asked to remix a track for Rheinzand (Strange World). I couldn't imagine that we would have had a whole remix album that would eventually be released on vinyl. This journey was a new, overwhelming, frightening but beautiful experience for me. I had never done something like this. I didn't have the experience and knowledge at that time. I only had one night a week of studio time and 10 months of time. And here we are, I can certainly say - anything is possible.
TRACKLIST:
A1 Love Games
B1. The Gift of Love
B2. Orange Bun.
C1. Ibiza Macht Frei
C2. Facciamo L'Amore
D1. Hotel Cathargo

Repress coming mid september!
The love for Sally C’s sound and burgeoning label shows no sign of slowing down. Last year’s ‘Big Saldo’s Chunkers 002’ was a phenomenon. Led by ‘Downtown’, which became one of the most beloved tracks of the year, it secured over 30 BBC Radio 1 plays and genre-crossing support from Peggy Gou to TSHA and Bradley Zero. Critical acclaim came from Bandcamp, RA and beyond.
Launched in 2020 with ‘Big Saldo’s Chunkers 001’ that’s currently on its fourth repress, the Chunker sound is special to all those who know it. Taking influence from artists including K-Hand and Fast Eddie, Sally draws on the sensibilities of classic US house music, crafting unique dancefloor cuts that don’t compromise on quality.
Active on the release front over the last 12 months with well-received remixes of Obongjayar, LB aka LABAT and a fresh original on Rhythm Section, we witness a noticeable evolution in her sound with BSC003. “I wanted to challenge myself when writing this record. I still haven’t released a full EP on another label, so I wanted to pair straight up Chunkers with something a bit different to shake up the Chunker energy,” she shares.
The four-tracker opens with ‘All Love’, a joyous house banger that swaps out Sally’s trademark Chunker bassline for a sexier groove. When the euphoric piano breakdown kicks in, soon accompanied by the ‘dance’ vocal on repeat, we’re reminded of the exultant power of rave. ‘
Hit It’ follows, a proper Chunker to the core. A hip house-informed jam, it’s packed full of tight drums, stabs, sirens and one of Sally’s monster Chunker b-lines. An absolute tune!
‘Control’ is a low-slung roller, encapsulating her love for simplistic production principles that birth memorable results. A headsy offering ripe for the after-hours.
‘‘Get Up’ is an ice-cool slab born out of a jam on a drum machine that hits at 144bpm. “I wasn’t sure how this would fit on the record being this speed, but it’s exactly what I envisioned when I wanted to challenge myself more. It’s raw and rolling and as soon as I made it, I knew it fitted into the Chunker family,” Sally explains. More

"Something Scary" is probably one of the most representative examples of Belgian New Beat as the genre shifted to Hard Beat, by one of the key figures in the explosion of the early Belgian rave scene Rembert De Smet. Starting with the first few seconds of the track, the listener is presented with what could arguably be one of the most unforgettable New Beat acid bass lines to attack the human ear. Very much in your face, characteristic of a genre that emerges from studio experimentation during a time when Chicago Acid was establishing itself and already contaminating the UK. Although relatively simple in terms of production, the way De Smert employs all the elements at play is ingeniously effective, from the simple vocal sample placement to the bassline, propelling it timelessly throughout decades to follow as an iconic example of the Acid sound in Europe. Re-released with two new remixes by the masterful Anatolian Weapons. Remastered at Manmade Mastering in Berlin.

This whole text about a compilation of legit chill slippers could be over with one quote of drummer Aaron Sterling. The John Mayer band member and studio guru called Basso (our compiler) the „ECM of chill wave“.
As we all know, even if some words may be hollow, good quotes help to tell a story. And that is definitely a great quote and if someone has a good story to tell, it is Basso.
Best known for his label Growing Bin and probably even more so for the online record shop of the same name, he is one of those miraculous figures in music or record culture who can be called a true believer.
Helplessly addicted to collecting music nonstop (hence Growing Bin) from all corners of the spectrum and with an uncanny knack of finding precious little diamonds, where others only assume slop, his shop features everything from original trance tapes to fake reggae and plain private press folly. Much to the pleasure of his devoted customers and even more so to the nickel nursers who use his website for window shopping and go bargain hunting in the dusty canyons and wide plains of the internet. Unfair, you might think, because knowledge like that comes with a commitment. A commitment that is not only financial in nature, but also involves time, dedication, thrift store and flea market visits and hardships (lacerated cuticles especially).
Sitting in Trees for International Feel is a sampling demonstration of this commitment. Devotees of his previous compiling efforts Proper Sunburn (Music For Dreams) and Lucky Are Those Who Hear The Birds Sing (Growing Bin), know what to expect: some of the best songs you have never heard before, some you would probably never hear without this and even some that you did not know you would even like. Even self-proclaimed record diggers might not recognize more than Mystery Voice by smooth jazz new agers Dancing Fantasy. It is a world of merry music that pretty much is boundary- and genre-free and includes sunshine stepper like Beau Michael’s Move Away. Patrick Jahn’s and Erobique’s previously unreleased Moonlight Shuffle (the soundtrack to a lost Schimanski Tatort) and Christian Ch. Kneisel’s impossible-to-find Balearic digi gem Jungle Connection.
All contextualized, explained and wonderfully described with meticulous liner notes by the king
of record descriptions himself: Basso. But what else would you expect from a DJ turned trip-hop-producer turned artiste turned record sommelier? Magic moments galore that won’t make you move away!
Short: Legit chill slippers by the „ECM of chill wave“ by Growing Bin boss and record collector sommelier Basso. A world of merry music, precious little diamonds and impossible to find records. File under Balearic beats, smooth hardcore jazz, new age ambient or fake reggae.

No Smoke - - More
The WD wagon continues to roll, bringing back the sounds of London's streets circa 1992 in all it's gritty glory! This, the latest instalment of reissues, reworks and rediscoveries see's a rare EP featuring cuts from a clutch of artists from the stable including No Smoke, Addis Posse & Gary A'Gaye. As ever, the Warriors sound is a stew of Dub, Hip-Hop breaks, House, Techno and synth sounds all collaged together using minimal gear and the UK warehouse and sound-system mentality. A heady mixture, you might say. Across 4 tracks we are treated to the ruffness, a handful of club ready bombs that will still do the damage right now in the 2019. As a special Record Store Day treat the mighty Jonny Rock has been drafted in via satellite to give us his extended, narcotic re-rub of No Smoke's killer 'Ai Shi Temasu (Japanese Love)' turning it into a winding, after hours DJ tool that will skilfully snake it's way through the dance at silly o'clock at any rave. Pure joy. OG pressings of this EP are sought after, expensive and rarely turn up. Now you can own this seminal piece of UK street music with a 2019 twist, in all the right ways!

Hidden Spheres x Private Joy - Deep Mix Instrumental
After reigniting Fruit Merchant and firing out a string of club-ready releases, Hidden Spheres is back again. This time teaming up with Private Joy for new floor-filler ‘Hold on Me’.
It's a track about being totally under someone's spell despite the relationship starting to turn and show its true colours.
Yearning reflections and hard realisations all served over two different mixes. One blending refined deep house rhythms and textures. The other is fierce, acid laced and driving, aimed at those peak moments in the club. More
