This time it's UK brotherly duo Clay & Heath Ostrer, also known as Last Pines who are centre stage. The pair serving up 4 silky smooth, and seductively deep minimalist house tracks. The A-side kicks off with and title cut "Solon" as it delves deeper with its bumping, low slung attitude. A certified bass face initiator featuring a cheeky nod to the Matrix. Followed by A2's "Drift", a hazy, funk infused roller that meanders effortlessly below some echoed brass. A flip to the B-side and we continue with "Nocturnal", a darkly hued, warehouse worthy jam, featuring raspy, robotic vocal samples and tonal overlays. Silat Beksi makes an emphatic return to the fore of his label Modeight, and this time he's in the collaborative company of Moscow's finest Swoy. The pair are a match made in heaven, as they traverse a multitude of sonic destinations on their aptly titled "Starburst" EP.

With their granular approaches to production well established, the pair take off with the deep undulations of "Allophone". A groove that bangs beneath a shimmer of silver tones. "Pro2" continues the journey with it's upbeat bassline swagger, and raucous key strokes.

On the flip side "The Escapist" pours ultra dreamy pads like liquid over powerful rhythmic flow, until at least we finish with the heart warming heights of the title track "Starburst". With an effortlessly refined collab like this, we hope its not their last. More

The A-side kicks off with 'Favourite Past Time', a swooning breakbeat roller that also gets a funked up remix with a signature boogie basseline by Romanian stalwart Triptil. On the flip side it's an intimate two step affair on B1's 'Lucid Thinking', a seductive, low slung session complete dulcet piano stokes and heady atmospheres. This milestone 12" sees the imprint tap Canadian beat smith ckb, who delivers an intimate and groovy affair entitled "Round-Robin". Now based in Leeds, the Canadian has spent over a decade exploring both contemporary and left field production techniques. Working meticulously to strike a healthy balance between the two that delivers on the dancefloor. ckb certainly accomplishes this across the EP, as the youngster fires up with 4 distinctive cuts that are energized by complex rhythmic elements and heady atmospheric tones. Ukraine's minimal hypnotist Silat Beksi now prepares to make his signature mark on his label Modeight with the aptly titled "On My Own" Ep. This is his first solo contribution to the label, having initially christened its opening with the heady, breakbeat infused stylings of the "Inception" EP. The result of a collaborative effort alongside Heidelberg producer Durrrred. Modeight's discography already boasts a roster of producers who are pushing boundaries in the minimal field, with Romania's RQZ and Dragutesku, Germany's Durrrred and "Methylat" duo Virkut & Amin Ravelle's combined output constituting a powerful sonic statement for Modeight. Silat himself continues to delve deep into his extensive musical influences, showing no signs of slowing his creative output as the talent prepares to release more music on Welsh imprint Curtea Veche and Milan label Hashplant. This EP sees Silat in his element as he laces nuanced rhythms on top of funky bassline riffs and hazy electronic artefacts, cementing himself once again as a unique and characteristically engaging artist. Since its inception in 2022 the PILLZ label has built a reputation for refined underground moods, and “Take A Chill Pill” is certainly no different.; The astounding Belgian producer; Session 4000 maneuvers and delievers 4 cuts between gritty shades of house and electro. This EP shifts the night into fifth gear with spaced out atmosfears and direct drive. Here is a producer whose experience for the hazy after hours takes us deep into such imagined trips as a “ravey conga paradise”, or some “hypnotic textured blend of vox sampled hits,” or twisted ravey motions, and big bass lines that blast the floor. SEXTAPE005 lands in the form of four ethereal modular jams courtesy of Bristol-based Boulderhead. “Tomorrow People” is a record which tickles the dancefloor’s most tender spots, the tracks are trippy, dreamy and warm yet all the while driving, complex and intense.

The record kicks off with Okii - a sassy bassline driven groover with a playful vocal destined to put a smile on any listeners face. The intensity is turned up a notch with A2 - Tomorrow People, a slinky fist pumper with squelchy stabs and dissonant vocals designed to get the crowd going.

On the flip Informatic serves a tight yet smooth ride into bliss via shuffly percussion and long and enveloping pads resulting in a track with perfect utility for the warm up or the crack on. The EP ends with Nutrient Streams, a sticky minimal roller that cruises effortlessly with the same psychedelic swagger heard throughout the whole EP.

wAFF makes a triumphant return to Hot Creations after a seven-year hiatus with his three-track, groove-driven ‘Slapfunk EP’. Since his first outing back in 2012, wAFF has been an integral part of the Hot Creations family, remixing various releases and dropping a total of four EPs - the last being ‘Sick Pleasure’ in 2016, which still stands today as a highlight in the label’s extensive catalogue. Marking a long-awaited return to Jamie Jones and Lee Foss’ beloved imprint after seven years, with material via renowned labels such as Solid Grooves, Cocoon, Desolat and his very own NATURE imprint over that period further establishing him as a leading name, he arrives fresh from his third Paradise show of the season ready to ignite dancefloors with a trio of irresistible beats on ‘Slapfunk’. Title track ‘Slapfunk’ opens the release with shifting stabs, warping bass patterns and fizzing lead synths, steadily progressing into a menacing club-focused workout. Continuing his signature style, ‘Questions’ showcases a blend of pulsating beats synchronised with a warped vocal topline that enhances the allure. Finally, ‘Next Game’ delivers a punchy trip loaded with subtle minimal-leaning influences, combining chopped vocal snippets with slick, stripped-back percussion. More

Steve O'Sullivan recently resurrected his much loved Mosaic imprint, and with it comes the Red Label Series. Following on from a first release by Ben Sims comes this new three track EP by Markus Suckut. In the last four years, German Suckut has established himself as a fine techno producer with credits on labels like Stroboscopic Aretfacts, Figure and his own SCKT. His grooves are tight, atmospheric and expertly crafted for maximum impact.
This EP kicks off with 'Turn On', a hunched over, hurried and minimal techno shuffler with doom laden spoken word snippets beaming in over the rubbery kicks. 'Tune In' is less direct, instead seeming to rock back and forth in one sport, with feint industrial sounds and distant rumbles permeating the thick groove, before finally 'Drop Out' is another dubbed out, shadowy and oppressive groove riddled with muted sine waves and rippling chords. Hugely textured, humid and inviting, these are three more killer tracks from Suckut and Mosaic. More

To the untrained ear a collaboration between Mosaic boss Steve O'Sullivan and minimal house maestro Ricardo Villalobos may not seem like the most obvious sound clash. However, dig a little deeper and you'll find that both these artists have a long history and shared love of stripped back aesthetics and dubbed out rhythms carving out respective sounds that have never strayed far from their roots. Sullric is the result of a daylong session at the end of 2016 where the pair plugged in, switched on and set everything to cycle: recording several hours' worth of material to tape with an edit of their favourite passage worked into two versions in post-production. As you'd expect from anything Villalobos turns his hands to, the sound palette is fully laden with dreamy tinges of warped audio, pulsating synthesis and psychedelic tinges that are as equal as they are diverse never failing to surprise. O'Sullivan's input shines through in the rhythmic feel and the application of effects throughout, holding the entire track together as they hit on a moment that truly captures the spirit of joint electronic enterprise. The Side A edit totals 10 mins and leads with lighter touch hat work that evolves in layers and builds, focusing more on the bass edged tones and vocals that envelope the senses throughout: the use of meditative gongs and a large stringed breakdown cutting through the mix to maximum effect. Side B, titled the deeper dub, stretches over 12 mins and is slightly denser in feel as the rhythmic chug is brought to the fore - driving the track into a sparser territory that gives more ground and emphasis to the breakdowns when they drop. Either way, if you're seeking some heavy beats with weird shit on top look no further.

Stereo:type presents its first vinyl release from UK producer Risk Assessment, already known for notable releases on Glitterbox, No Fuss, Midnight Riot and Tinted to name but a few. With four original tracks all ploughing the rich furrow of 80s nu disco vibe that he's been championing of late, with 'Baby Call Me' a glitzy, glitterballl-teasing vocal track with a slice of Cameo-style funk thrown in for good measure leading the charge. 'Can You Dig It?' is loopier and more 'track'-orientated, essential DJ material, while the B-side boasts the filtered, soul-inflected house of 'Want You Back' and the glorious Barry White-esque tones of disco monster 'Dancin' In My Eyes'.
