Sometimes you wait and things fall into place, this is an A&R man’s dream. You can spend hours banging your head, waiting for lightening to strike, trying to find the perfect pairing, it’s there floating around in your head but the answer is not clear. The record needs a remix, but who would be perfect? Not being one for doing things by numbers, sometimes you have to leave the music for a moment. Give it a life of its own and allow the musical landscape to adapt to it. I had been mulling over remixes for Seven for quite some time. We had the Krystal Klear mix which was perfect, that happened early on, I just needed something to compliment it and round of the remix single. Detroit Swindle are notorious for being very selective, but armed with Classic as my calling card I got ready to approach them. Low and behold, possibly within a day or two of formalising my approach in my head, they emailed me and asked if they could remix the record. The stars aligned and it all made sense. These two remixes complement each other perfectly, and this feels like a complete single coming from the heart, remixed with love. More

Ahead of an interestingly cheeky release schedule in 2023 from Seven Davis Jr., collaborators and fellow associates on Secret Angels Records, we present to you “savedbythebell”. Described as a vibey intermission project. Music you might hear on an elevator ride inside a massive mothership that’s traveling through multiple dimensions. Sounds from an 80s themed alternate timeline. There are no rules here. There are no one set descriptions and multiple meanings abound. Although this be more of an instrumental adventure with only one song (chorus and verses etc). Its all interdimensional vibes. Featuring 5 fresh tracks produced within in the last 2 years by Sev. (who previously had the habit of releasing mixtures of older tracks/reworked
demos along with new songs). And with all releases from Seven Davis Jr., this one picks up where the previous ended. Sev’s 2021 song based album “I See The Future” left us with an unpredictable track titled “New Life Who Dis”. This ep introduces us to forthcoming new sounds from that new life. Not just for dance floors, also for “chillen” or lounging on a nice day, or disassociating in the depths of a wormhole, or at an after hours where everyone’s faces are on fire and no one ever sleeps! 7 years after debut album “Universes” on Ninja Tune, Seven Davis Jr. returns with the official follow up titled “I See The Future” on his own Secret Angels imprint. The 11 song adventure provides a fun concentrated blend of deep house, soul, disco, funk, electronica and underground textures. The album brings together Sev’s different flavors into a finely aged familiar yet new atmosphere. First two tracks “Records” featuring L3ni (member of Natasha Diggs Soul In The Horn collective in New York) and “U Already Know” featuring bassist Neil White (half of Canadian Rock duo The Carps), were originally produced in London early 2016 at a studio provided to Jr. by Domino Publishing located in the basement of a run down home rumored to formerly belong to The Rolling Stones. Title track “I See The Future” was produced in Houston Texas early 2017 and features fellow Texan Oye Manny (Sure Shot, Secret Angels), who co-produced the track. “Figure It Out” featuring LA soulful house DJ Juliet Mendoza (Dusk Recordings), was recorded early 2021 post-lockdown. While “Escape The Matrix” was a demo produced around 2013 then reworked in 2020. “Share Your Toys” featuring Toribio (front man of NYC live band Conclave), “Boys & Girls” and “N’Joy” were all produced in Los Angeles late 2019 pre-covid. “Mission Completed” was produced during 2020 in Seattle Washington, where Sev spent lockdown. “Let’s Travel...” the most recent of the recordings, was produced in Houston Texas over the summer of 2021 in a hotel room during a road trip. Closing track “New Life, Who Dis” was produced in early 2019 and has a different origin. The moody instrumental was first made for a celebrity that Sev had been invited to ghost produce for. We cannot mention said celeb (because, NDA). After many sessions it became clear the celeb only wanted criminally watered down and copy cat ideas. So Sev respectfully declined the invitation and decided to save this track for something special. More

JTT Originally from London, Jimmy moved to Bristol in '95, drawn by the Fresh 4, Full Cycle and the big Bristol sound. He started out DJing at house parties and renowned underground venues like Cosies. Bristol's melting pot, combined with his Gilles Peterson-inspired school years made for some eclectic roots. It was only a matter of time before playing other people's records wasn't enough Inspired by a Salsoul-sampled techno track (East End Trax's Chalk Line), with his first computer and some self-taught software Jimmy cut his first edit. Recutting tunes quickly became standard procedure, for his own sets quickly became the norm. Alexander was involved in promoting Underground Society at the now legendary Bowgie Nightclub in Newquay during the early 90s. Bringing in and DJing alongside the likes of Marshall Jefferson, DJ Disciple, Paul Trouble Anderson, Robert Owens and Noel Watson to an always packed out fortnightly event that closed at 12.30AM ! Probably the only Soulful and Deep House music night in Cornwall during the peak of the rave years. "

The focus on this collection is the idea of the 'cosmic' from the Disco era.
