Montreal's Beaubien Ouest can cause quite the daze in the heat of Summer, so stepping out of the bedroom into the shed made all the difference for Holland. Live-off-the- floor takes with pals Rory Seydel (on guitar) and Jeremy Dabrowski (on the bass) can be heard on the title track, whereas freaked-out Dx7 melodies and harmonies makeup Royal Plus and Closer. Our second record from Sweden's Sune is a proper full-length. Ten tracks, forty- five minutes—classic LP! And it's arranged as such, too; it tells a story through tightly-arranged chapters. Early on in the journey, they're bouncy and whimsically animated, pillowy white clouds slowly drifting across an azure sky. As we get more invested, the tempo rises and the warm, squishy house beats feel as though they can't always quite keep up. A delight. To conclude the A-side, Sune brings a twinkly ballad, a late- night Joe Jackson piano serenade with instrumental hip-hop drums keeping everything in place. The other side only wants to party; it begins with a wiggly bass lick that's got a wicked charm to it, and continues to explore the unusual jazz-club-meets- sweaty-warehouse space that Sune's compositions are so often possessed with. The B concludes as the A did, with a lilting, hopeful, and heartfelt send-off. Everything is fine? Everything is fine. Everything is fine.

Following up his recent Basic EP for Vancouver-based Hybridity Music, Project Pablo's latest offering will be released on August 5, 2014. Three raw heavily swung funky playful house "Utensils" is aimed straight at the dance-floor…Over top of dark gritty rolling grooves, Pablo layers frenetic vocal snippets, cheeky jazzy chord stabs, and warm resonant synth melodies. The release is "tape saturated, swung-out house music; hints of the old and new."
Project Pablo is the latest moniker of Patrick Holland (formerly 8prn). Over the last couple of years the young producer has been making some waves within the West Coast underground electronic scene, producing a slew of remixes, and curating mixes for i-D Magazine, Do Androids Dance, and the Slowcast. He also runs the label, ASL Singles Club in collaboration with Heartbeat(s) and Chef. The label was recently featured on thump and xlr8r. Project Pablo's own production is diverse, moving between a more experimental/ambient sound to classic Chicago House. He recently played SXSW in collaboration with installation artist Charles Long, and will playing a number of festivals throughout the summer; Sled Island, Bass Coast and Shambhala.
