Vertical67's 13 track debut CD album including a remix by Wisp (Rephlex Records). Thomas Pahl, aka Vertical67, steps up with a full album after a few EP's on labels like 100% Silk and Lunar Disko. Yet the longplay format surely isn't new to him, as his albums, dating back from 2008-2009 on Acroplane Recordings, prove. With Panta Rhei however, the analog guy from Berlin finds himself in a more calm, serene mood. Pahl made his interest in ambient music clear at an early stage with his 'The Coloured Chaos' project. While that project was based around the use of samples and a guitar, the project here is about synth driven textures. A versatile selection of 12 beautiful and very personal tracks. Deep, melancholic moods are present, as well as more lightweight and uplifting moments. To top off this project, Thomas' friend and acclaimed producer Wisp, aka Reid Dunn (of Rephlex Records fame), delivers a remix of the opening track. With this album, Photic Fields i nitiate a series of CD releases, that focuses on the (even) more quiet, home-listening vein within the electronic music spectrum. Playing music for others is an act of alchemy that can alter thought patterns and life paths to varying degrees. It is a formidable power to wield." Ostling is one of those artists who works in a specific continuum but adds his own touch here and there--and when it comes to reverb-drenched, acid-lashed, wound-up IDM pitter-patter, not many can do it as well, or as elegantly, as this. Aquasky are a trio that formed in Bournemouth in 1995, inspired by the likes of LTJ Bukem, DJ Krust and Roni Size. They were signed to Moving Shadow for a three-single deal by the strength of the first two tracks that they made together. But the label had a heavy release schedule back then, so it took 2 years for the 3 releases to come out. During that time though they wrote more music for R&S and Reinforced as well as untold remixes.

These two tracks were written whilst signed to Moving Shadow but were not released at the time as drum and bass was progressing in style and tempo. So, they were put to DAT and forgotten about until 2015 when the band put out a 20 year compilation, finding the tracks on one of their many DAT tapes.

The music will take you right back to the mid-90’s when the music was deep and rolling and there were no hard and fat rules on how to make drum & bass.

This release has a close connection to Vinyl Fanatiks as the label is run by Brent from Aquasky.

Pressed by the mighty Phil ‘The Vinylman’ East on 180g heavyweight vinyl. This release is a bespoke product as no one record is the same. Designed to look like the planet Mars and part of a 4 vinyl Cosmik series.

Pivoting effortlessly as the track progresses from drumloop to thunderous drumloop with a simmering haunted atmosphere and deep, weighty basslines to yearning filtered vocal samples, this track has it all.

Smooth jungly synthwork seizes the foreground before crisp breaks begin to reveal our direction through The Space Between, jittery key stabs and familiar old school FX create a unique sci-fi style backdrop as the breaks drive the vibe forward, switching and weaving in style, constantly mixing it up to ram the point home that you cannot fully appreciate a Eusabia track until every second has been consumed - many times over, as The Space Between demands.

A more contemplative piece, Scope of Understanding strips things back with a synthwave-esque vibe tinged with intrigue and allure. Soon the breakbeats leap into gear and develop with an incredible level of refined detail, expertly edited, chopped and cut to a darkly undertone of sub bass and subtle micro melodies. Scope of Understanding will leave you in awe of the quickfire ideas Eusabia can conjure in the space of 6 minutes.

AA2 - Self Reflection
A smooth atmospheric introduction ushers in a thumping drum tools workout, somehow perfectly in sync with the calm harmonies dancing around in the composition. Certainly a track to enjoy both on the discerning dancefloor and while driving home with rain lashing at the windscreen at 2am, Self Reflection's synths and breaks conclude the EP in style leaving a long lasting memory of a Spatial debut you will not forget.

Breaks are on the agenda immediately with The Navigator, bringing forth a myriad of fluid drum samples, filtered and chopped with old school sensibilities shining through. Opening with an immediate dancefloor impact, Lysithea utilises an addictive, memorable breakbeat pattern with thrusting snares and excitable hi-hats to craft a classic old school serenity, riddled with the washing waves of ambient soundscapes that intersect jubilantly to the breaks. A piece which demonstrates Aural Imbalance's versatility in the genre, blending an abundance of both adjacent and paradoxical techniques to the mix.

AA1 - Altered Perception
Thick, enveloping atmospheric synths open Altered Perception, a track perfect to reset the mind with delicately balanced serene tones and a smooth drumloop. The breakdown arrives and the star of the show reveals itself for the second half, an unforgettable earworm melodic bassline that elevates the track to new heights. When the graceful outro knowingly takes its bow, you will be left to reflect on something quite special.

AA2 - Mountain Sky
Aural Imbalance closes the EP in style with an uneasy array of effects stuttering around tense synths to create an eerie introduction to Mountain Sky, before finely edited Hot Pants breaks and a delicious 808 bassline begin their calculated phonic onslaught to the ears. We are treated to an impressive medley of classic atmospheric inspiration here, rounded of superbly with a nicely elongated outro.
