Tracklisting
A1 SAMA - Onyankopon
A2 SAMA - I Reject What I Just Said
B1 SAMA - One Small Mistake
B2 SAMA - And All Of A Sudden, I Was Free
Sales Note
Previously releasing tracks and EPs on several respected big room labels such as Drumcode, Kraftek and Noir, Dutch DJ/producer SAMA announces the arrival of his new darker, grittier label Maximalist_Minimalist. Showcasing his new sound, the Utrecht- based DJ/producer delivers four hard-hitting, groove-led techno tracks built with intricate sound design and a perfectionist mindset.
Leading the release is 'Onyankopon', a dark and dubby number with a chunky groove and gritty percussion. 'I Reject What I Just Said' enters harder and more driving territories, with textured sound design meeting polyrhythmic synth stabs and eerie atmospheres. The B-side starts with the trippy leads and atonal pads of 'One Small Mistake', before 'And All Of A Sudden, I Was Free' closes out the release with a driving roller.
"I've felt the need to reinvent myself, to really create my own identity, and not attach myself too much to other labels anymore. For this reason, I ultimately set up this imprint: to provoke myself to become the artist that I so much adore and aspire to be. That's why this brand will serve as an extension of myself; my creative identity, if you will." - SAMA

Tracklisting
A1 SAMA - Phoneutria
A2 SAMA - A Last Speck Of Light
B1 SAMA - Silence Is For The Elite
B2 SAMA - Tiger Mosquito
Sales Note
SAMA strikes down with his fifth techno outing on Maximalist_Minimalist since the opening of the label in 2022.
The title track 'Phoneutria' is one of SAMA's most favourite techno tracks, created from a desire to awaken people from their hypnosis in a set and to create a highlight, rather than trying to blend in. This semi broken-beat track is by far the most requested track in SAMA's recent sets, and has been turning heads since the summer of 2023, getting heavy early rotation from Rodhad and Rene Wise. Phoneutria is filled to the brim with details, percussion and a heavy roaring bass demanding attention.
Right after being struck by the opener track's wall of sound, the beatless 'A Last Speck Of Light' creates a soft, cozy space that invites the listener into a state of stillness. 'A Last Speck Of Light' doesn't try to take you anywhere, but is rather a moment suspended. A fragment of time that simply is, asking nothing but presence.
The B-side of MXMN005 is reserved for the more functional tracks, without losing the intricacies of SAMA's perfectionism. 'Silence Is For The Elite' is a modern track with crisp and fun jittery sounddesign, built around a heavy groove.
The last track of the EP, 'Tiger Mosquito', is the most forward-pushing of the four, with a very straight groove and dark, buzzing and almost aggravating textures and atmospherics, hence the name.
All in all, MXMN005 shows exactly why Maximalist_Minimalist earns its name. Tracks ranging from extremely minimalist and intimate to thunderous and filled to the brim with details. Music that doesn't take itself too serious, and music that absolutely, and proudly, does.
The artwork, as always, has been painted by Argentinian painter Julian 'Ric' Santesteban, showing a new colour palate for the first time in the MXMN series, accompanied by 5 eyes for the fifth and maybe most personal techno release to date for the label.

SAMA - Gentle Reminder
Tracklisting
A1 SAMA - There's Not A Lot To Say
A2 SAMA - Benefit The Masses
B1 SAMA - Fragments Of Distrust
B2 SAMA - Gentle Reminder
Sales Note
Nine months after the well received MXMN002, SAMA is back on his own imprint with his third release. 4 tracks, all centered around a general theme; each track consists of textural soundscapes and heavy growl-like sounds, but with vastly different flavours.
Whereas "There's Not A lot To Say" is the most subdued and atmospheric track, "Benefit The Masses" is the more in-yourface track, driven by a heavy broken-beat kick pattern. On the B-side, "Fragments Of Distrust" is a more tribal and groovy track, and to top it off "Gentle Reminder" is the most driving track, with a forward-pushing locked groove. Long story short: there should be a track in there for everyone's needs.
As with the first two releases, the artwork is painted by Argentinian artist Ric Santesteban.

Tracklisting:
A1 SAMA - End All
A2 SAMA - Kill The Heat
B1 SAMA - Forced To Revolt
B2 SAMA - Tripping Over Wires
Sales Note
Half a year after the Dutch DJ/producer's debut release on his new Maximalist_Minimalist imprint, SAMA makes his return with MXMN002. Cementin the venture into his new, gritty sound, the release sees his pitch-perfect production moulded into another set of four hard-hitting, club-ready techno tracks.
Leading the release, 'End All' combines gritty shakers, hard kicks, and synth stabs for an eerie, atmospheric lead track. 'Kill The Heat' follows with dark arpeggiators over modulating rhythms and robust drums. On the flip, 'Forced To Revolt' kicks off the B-side with an intense vibe, placing the focus on evolving and interweaving synthesis, before 'Tripping Over Wires' closes the release with its groovy percussion and trippy melodic sensibilities.

"Meeting points,
the end is the beginning.
Echoes of a conversation
where revelation promises revolution.
My feet in the future
mark the direction of my movement,
and my mind in the present
turns illusion into experience.
I let go, I trust
and flow with the sound
of my silence."
