Side A opens with Soul Absorption, a track with a heavy low end, absorbing synths, and an atmosphere that plunges you into a deep abyss. Next comes Haunted, which takes the darkness further with a haunting, psychotic synth sequence and a heart-rending bassline that keeps you on your toes.
On the B-side, Infectious delves into shadowy territory with a modulated synth line that simulates something infectious and consuming. Finally, The Weight Of Guilt closes the EP with the heaviest and most aggressive track. Thunderous percussion and a crushing bassline capture the intensity and gravity reflected in its title.

"El Caos Reina" by Oxygeno is the new chapter of our label. This EP is made up of four raw, mental and introspective tracks where the creator tells us the story of a difficult and uncertain time.
Side A opens with "Veneno En Los Labios", an exercise with heavy drums, wrapped by a crunchy bass and a tense and nostalgic atmosphere. This track is followed by "Condenados", a more experimental, dark and anxious piece, where you can feel the terror of the situation.
On the B-side we first find "Grito Al Vacio", the most energetic track, with a strong kick and bassline, cutting percussions and a pad that appears as a desperate scream. In the last track but not least, "As De Corazones", is the hypnotic piece of the album but keeping the forcefulness of the rest.

Oxygeno writes a new chapter with Vertigo, moving into a more angry mood. The EP kicks off with Thirty Against One, with a heart-wrenching bassline, distorted drums and a tense atmosphere. Norbak pays tribute to the original, carefully using the stems and getting a powerful and direct remix.
Side A continues with Vertigo, a suffocating and anxious track, rising and becoming more and more tense as the track progresses. Forged in the fertile acid house scene of the late 80s, A Trifle Too Far comprises childhood friends Simon Ward and Tony Grimley from Hornchurch, on London's outer fringes in Essex. Their insatiable thirst for seeking out new sounds led them to countless shindigs, parties and raves, eventually inspiring them to craft their own music based on their adventures on the dancefloor. Their studio collaboration culminated in the creation of the remarkable record you currently hold in your hands: 'Catch Your Ear / Meringueatang'. This two-track release, recorded in 1992, offers forward-thinking and fresh prog-house cuts, as rare as hen's teeth and as exhilarating as they were upon their original release over three decades ago. Catch Your Ear was expertly engineered by Evren Omer, boss of Essex-based techno bunker Strategy Records, while Meringueatang was helmed by Matt Clayden, one half of M&M and Acorn Arts and the proprietor of X-Gate Records, another stalwart in Essex's underground dance scene. 'Catch Your Ear / Meringueatang' remains the only musical collaboration between the duo. When Mint Condition approached them to reissue this highly sought-after EP, both Simon and Tony were surprised and delighted in equal measure by the proposition. Now, a few months down the line, we find ourselves with yet another top-tier addition to the MC reissue catalogue, fully licensed from the artists, mastered and cut by Keith Tenniswood at Curve Pusher, and available once again for purchase. Is anyone in France keyed into the sound of UK funky as sharply as Kaval? Sneaker sets out a strong case with this four-tracker of cool and deadly shufflers which take that insistent groove and give it a different lick.
Kaval has got plenty going on in Toulouse, where he’s riding the online airwaves with the Egregore Collective and got his name all over the Riddim Supplies series 12”s. Those with their sticky fingers on all the best bits of wax the past few years might have stumbled across those records in the racks. Elsewhere, he’s also locked in with the Ruff Club crew who are bringing the DIY free party vibe to Toulouse under railway lines, in abandoned buildings and anywhere they can sneak a genny, a system, some lights and a vibe. All this is to say Kaval is the real deal, doing things the proper way, and it shows in his tunes.
The cuts on this record are absolutely built for the dance, functional like a DJ record should be but not at the expense of the flair. ‘Combo II’ has fun slipping snatches of MCs around utopian synth licks, while ‘Pistolaser’ is spilling over with crafty micro edits and snappy samples that bring the limber groove to life. The crooked beat and rounded square wave bass is a given, and Kaval wields the rhythm section with poise, but it’s the playful energy he brings to the top end which really lifts his gear. It’s no wonder his tracks have been bumped by the likes of Nick Léon, perfectly bridging the gap from funky into the deft Latin-tinged zones explored by the Miami heavyweight.
It’s records like this that prove exploration of UK funky, like so many club genres, has so much more to give to the dance.
