Catz ‘n Dogz make a standout debut on Crosstown Rebels with two compelling new house tracks on ‘Can’t Stand’, complete with a remix from leftfield innovator Robag Wruhme. A pairing whose renowned reputation has been built and shaped across an illustrious career, Polish duo Grzegorz Demiañczuk and Wojciech Tarañczuk, aka Catz’ n Dogz, have been serving up their own diverse and varied take on house for more than fifteen years. Founders of their own Pets Recordings imprint, in that time they have released on esteemed labels, from Diynamic to Defected, Glitterbox to Watergate and more, while playing at almost every major club and festival across the globe. Their fresh in-between sounds and knack for cooking up curious and impactful sounds have made them mainstays of the scene, and that run of stellar releases continues here with a debut appearance on Crosstown Rebels as they link with ZenSoFly for ‘Can’t Stand’ - with longstanding German favourite Robag Wruhme on remix duties. Opener ‘Can’t Stand’ sees the pair reunite with vocalist ZenSoFly, a talent they’ve worked with on notable hits like ‘Wave.’ Her vocals bring soul and attitude over a tight, rubbery and sleazy house beat, underpinned with a heavy bassline - providing the sort of chunky cut to lock in a dancefloor and make it march in unison. Robag Wruhme has been a Pampa label mainstay and famously curveball producer for many years with his scintillating blend of minimalism, melody and unusual sound sources. That is the case again with this remix, a dark workout that hurries along on snappy drums, detuned vocals and scuzzed up, droning synths to ensure maximum impact. The EP is closed out with ‘Wake Up’, a widescreen and atmospheric cut packed with detail. The bassline is taught, freaky vocals echo within the mix, and synths spray about to dramatic effect, delivering another full flavour house cut with a dark soul and futuristic designs.

Picking up right where EP #1 left off, EP #2 kicks things off with a bang. First up is Catz 'N Dogz and Yotam Avni's for 'Blakkat'; a high pace burner ideally suited for dance floors from Panorama Bar to under the LED's of Watergate and every club in-between.
The duo return with the 'Bright Version' of 'Afterglow' for the second cut on EP 2 and aptly titled, it pushes an intense, glitter filled ride to it's limits.
Embarking onto the B-side, 'O.A. Peas' from heavy hitter Eats Everything & Lord Leopard take a trip down memory lane with a heavily sample based feel good tune that will absolutely demolish dance floors worldwide.
Rounding out the EP is a final collaboration between Catz 'N Dogz and Reno Wurzbacher with 'To Ma People' and it's by far the smoothest and most laid back tune of the bundle, but never does it let you rest as a mesmerizing groove and lush atmospherics tell a deep, complex tale of late nights and early mornings.

Flying high after their successful Watergate 22 compilation, Catz N' Dogz return to deliver eight exclusive tracks from their mix via two EP's showcasing their expert ability to navigate a multitude of different styles.
EP #1 commences with Catz 'N Dogz original 'Fire Burning When We Are', a tune that sees them flying solo to create a stunning journey that lands somewhere sonically between Carl Craig and Henrik Schwarz where infectious drums reinforce an ensemble of dramatic harmonies tangling with euphoric melodies.
'Afterglow' follows suit with an attitude infused vocal from Shaun J. Wright laid over a trek into a world where 'Old School' vibes meet a 'New School' plan of attack resulting in an absolute floor filler perfect for any time.
Rounding out the EP are remixes from two of the best: Prosumer and Sebo K. Prosumer steps up first to rework 'Fire Burning When We Are' and creates a massive tune with the signature Prosumer touch, evident in the timelessness and maturity of the reimagining. Sebo K in turn hands over a Jackin' remake of 'Afterglow' by staying true to the original by keeping everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.

Following on from the successful release of ‘Basic Colour Theory: Remixed’ in March, Catz n’ Dogz announce their latest EP ‘Upsi Bubsi'. The duo's first release of 2016 welcomes the New Year in true Catz n Dogz fashion with two tracks EP is a fruitful twist of cosmic melodies mixed under the duo's trademark heavy tech-house styled bass and percussion. The EPs’ opening and title track ‘Upsi Bubsi' is a certified floor filler from the get go. The track opens with a thunderous mix of 909 loops alongside a repeated throb of intense arpeggiated bass. The track is peppered with splurges of crashing cymbals,
rolling toms and the hypnotic looped vocal whispering ‘don't stop'; a track clearly engineered for the dance floor. As the track builds, we are greeted with Egyptian styled keys, an unusual choice of sounds for most indeed, but a skill that we have become accustomed to in many of the duo’s productions. ‘Elixir' offers a different experience to its counterpart with a collage of rising melodic chords and an 808 break beat. The track is a beautiful arrangement of graceful choir sounding melodies over warm sub-bass chords, seemingly inspired by early 90's Detroit. The track takes full form introducing tribal drum patterns alongside splashes of keys and styled cosmic percussion. The track is a testament to the producer’s
creative prowess, showcasing their broad abilities to tackle all styles and genres of
dance music. This release undoubtedly highlights Catz N’ Dogz’ arsenal of talent in creating two very unique but equally as strong productions. Both possess the quality and pedigree of the duo's back catalogue and are set to command the globe’s top dance floors.

This collection will be released digitally as well as on vinyl on 11th March 2016 The 2015 original LP combined traditional songwriting meets Catz ‘N Dogz trademark infectious basslines; a natural result of extensive sonic exploration and the osmotic process of years of DJing worldwide, all the while developing a deeper understanding of what they want to deliver through their music. From more simple edit work, to entire tonal shifts, the pair’s songwriting has been reassembled by an eclectic, star-studded cast of beatmakers that include Jamie Jones, Maurice Fulton, Skudge and Yotam Avni all skillfully apply curious fusions of their own unique musical roots. This is a remixer's remix compilation that succeeds in connecting the tracks musical dots into a singular musical vision. The Polish DJs, producers and Pets Recordings' label owners known for their electrifying performances and catchy cuts announce their third LP, 'Basic Colour Theory', a fruitful collection of evocative melodies and gorgeous vocals. This album marks a pivotal moment in their career as house outfit Catz 'N Dogz.
Taking firm lead of the Eastern European electronic music revolution, the pair, who have previously graced the cover of both Mixmag and DJ Mag Spain, have for some time been poised for significant success as their international recognition on the underground has never lacked momentum. 'Basic Colour Theory' will add to the list of remarkable accolades the dynamic duo already have under their belt; joining their acclaimed Essential Mix in 2013, and weighty remixes for a who's who in music electronic or otherwise, including Basement Jaxx, Kings Of Leon, Thomas Schumacher, Friendly Fires, and Kim Ann Foxman, not to mention their two previous LPs. Colour; such a pervasive part of everything we visually encounter, and its many theories a logical structure that for many artists, designers and music producers becomes an intuitive choice - a melting pot of ideas and influences in varying quantities. Evoking particular moods and emotions through choice of palette in design and sound architecture. In this full length offering, traditional songwriting meets Catz 'N Dogz signature infectious basslines; a natural result of extensive sonic exploration and the osmotic process of years of DJing worldwide, all the while developing a deeper understanding of what they want to say through their music. Their knack for reading a crowd just right has seen them lording stages of some of the most coveted festivals across the globe, including SW4, Park Life, Bestival, Snowbombing, Electric Daisy Carnival and BPM, and has also resulted in them being booked for the iconic Movement Festival 2015 (Detroit) and Exit Festival 2016 (Serbia). The same talent that has helped them achieve such stratospheric success is translated here in a collection of inviting tracks, as they showcase their on-point producing talents. "It's our third album and we did a lot of research, preparation, reading, watching documentaries about the music scene, people and looking for inspirations everywhere. We were talking a lot about people who inspire us, art, creative process, philosophy and meaning of work and music in our life." From the off, opening cut 'Good Touch' exemplifies this is a true game changer for this unstoppable duo, and is the start of a fifteen-track voyage through experimental sounds as they explore a different approach to electronic music. Although a rewarding listening experience from start to finish, this is an album where each track stands alone for its own musical purpose, dancing through the listener's mind long after listening. Tracks such as 'Czas Poczeka' express the heart and soul that both producers have put into this body of work, all the while keeping it up-tempo with rhythmic cuts like 'Nobody Cares', and expressing their affinity with varying styles. Coming in hot on Berlin's Toy Tonics label: a new EP by the talented duo ALMA NEGRA!
Founded in 2013, Alma Negra is a Swiss collective centered around the brother duo Dersu and Diego Figueira, whose diverse roots in Switzerland and Cape Verde inform their sound. The project was launched with the ambitious vision to explore the world's diverse rhythms and drive musical innovation by mixing different styles. Their work is anchored in a process of digging and sampling, skillfully blending traditional sounds-from Fela Kuti-influenced Nigerian afrobeat and Angolan Lamento to Caribbean Zouk and the Maloya sound of Réunion-into a contemporary dance music context.
The Figueira brothers' eclectic DJ sets embody this ethos, peppering disco and house with salsa, samba, jazz, and Afro-Caribbean carnival rhythms, all under their guiding motto: "As long as it's Funky."
Since 2014, Alma Negra has made an important contribution to intercultural exchange in their hometown of Basel. Their international presence began in 2015 with their first shows abroad in countries like France, the Netherlands, and Portugal. From 2016 to 2019, their reach expanded significantly, with performances in major hubs like London, Paris, and Berlin, as well as Istanbul, Tel Aviv, and Tunisia. Highlights from this period include sets at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Dimensions Croatia, and Fuse Club in Brussels. "La Duquesa" was the album's dreamy single standout, a journey into deep, tropical ecstasy.
"XTC" begins in the same spirit, and captures the all the blissful allusions of its name, but its initial gentility belies the deep intensity to come. Floating pads glow with celestial ambience as a kick drum is gradually coaxed into solid form, and the introduction of spoken text begins the second act. "Many people are experimenting with the drug Ecstasy," it says, "…is the drug like the lie and meditation the truth? Or am I missing something that could really help me?". "XTC" then transforms: sweetly imploring tones become demanding, gentle gradients between chords turn hard-edged, and sharp hi-hats cut through the haze. Complete with Koze's signature percussive quirks, it drives towards the track's final pay off: an undeniable, all-consuming, irresistible high.
"Knee On Belly" recalls Koze at his most tongue-in-cheek and overt; it is bright, bold and literally brassy, using cut-up horns of all shapes and sizes to patchwork together his own unique arrangement. With the highs and mid ranges accounted for, Koze adds in a swollen, thrumming bass line to mix to bring this floor-filler to life. Just in time for summer, Pampa issued Aimlessness, the long-awaited new album from Dntel AKA Los Angeles producer Jimmy Tamborello. His latest electronic suite brought forth stronger leanings toward house grooves, building upon the pop and IDM approaches he explored earlier in his career as half of the Postal Service and a member of Figurine - with a healthy dose of Pampa otherworldliness on top. Now, Robag Wruhme steps in and recontextualizes two Aimlessness cuts for a remix EP. Wruhme is already a beloved member of DJ Koze's extended family, having released the full-length Thora Vukk about one year ago, which was deemed "another success for both him and Pampa" in Resident Advisor's four-star review. First up is Robag's "Kloff Mottüré" mix of "Bright Night", a starry-eyed transformation of Dntel's work that twinkles like fireflies in the clear midnight sky. With symphonic splashes, playful pitter-patters and a tranquil breakdown, it sounds a bit like teenage toads skinny-dipping amongst the lilypads. Next up, Robag finds inspiration in Dntel's "Jitters", not once but twice: The "Marf Labo" mix takes the title quite literally, offering a jittery breakbeat interpretation with a metallic angel chorus swirling over the haphazard beats. Finally, on the flip side, the "Emmens Worsch" mix brings things more closely aligned with the grooving, heartfelt house thump that Pampa has engendered. It's the EP's most DJ-friendly cut, while at the same time showing off Robag's gentle production touches and letting Tamborello's sweet, subdued voice shine through.
