For their first installment, the Chateau Chepere crew brings a diverse EP from ambient house maestra Rai Scott.
Opening the EP is 'Logical Positivism', a deep, driving and cinematic nod to the forest dance floors of the late 90's. On 'Inspired', Rai brings the club in an introspective, melancholic mood. Slower, steady beats with rolling percussions and dreamy pads to shroud the dancers. Picking up the pace is 'Open Your Eyes', a warm, bitter-sweet piece of house from from her own alter ego Serendipity. The club friendly 2021 rework shifts into an early morning vibe, while keeping it deep and moody. Closing out the EP is the title track 'Anahata Nada', a gorgeous, warm piece of ambient for the chill rooms. More

The Detached Observation EP kicks off with Paradise Crane - a deep and dreamy production carried by soaring synths that echo throughout. Valentino Mora builds upon the soundscape left by Rai, remixing with fine affect as he introduces a simplistic yet highly effective tech groove to complement her work well.
The B side sees Rai offer up a balearic feel with rich horn lines dancing around a haze of muffled bass line and soft kicks. The EP comes to close with more delightful reverb soaked chords which are carried by liquid smooth hats from start to finish coming together in fine form for the title track. More

Over the past ten years the pair have worked their magic through all strands of the house spectrum on labels such as Trelik, Finale Sessions, Verdant as well as Ornate, but on here, chief cut Biosflash places them squarely back in the domain of laidback, deep house. This is a perfect summer roller, and can't fail to put a smile on your face, as you roll your windows down. Stratocaster keeps the sunshine vibe high, yet mines a little deeper, channelling the sounds of classic late-90s deep house labels such as as Seasons, Straight Up and Rotax.

It's out of the shadows and into the light with the next release on Ornate music. At the reins is OCH, a name you might not have heard in a while, but whose solid and reliable CV names Sect, All Inn, Baby Ford's Trelik and PalL SL among his label references. In all honesty, it's like he never went away. We get three cuts of precision deepness. Lean, rather than minimal, these are fat-free, perfectly balanced excursions into the ethereal edges of house. Tight claps, subtle, eerie vocal samples that drift in and out of the mix, the mood is uplifting without any need for euphoric histrionics. This is refined music that won't sound out of place on the floor at CDV or Sunwaves, whenever we can return to the dancefloor. It's timely that as Ornate Music reaches its milestone thirtieth release, it introduces another new face to its stable of deep house heavy hitters, that already includes names such as Leif, Miles Sagnia, Jayson Wynters and Dubbyman. All of whom, like new boy here, El Choop, earned their chops in the ranks at respected Welsh festival Freerotation. Unlike those other alumni though, El Choop's pedigree leans heavily on dub techno, as evidenced on previous releases for Default Position and Etui. This latest missive blends the best of both worlds, two crystalline cuts of the deepest house with subtle shades of dub. It's the sound of late-night drives, or stolen closed-eye, post-party moments. Closing out the release, there's a full-side remix of lead cut New Speak from deep house royalty, Nail, who opens up some Basic-Channel like space with a shot of DiY swing. Pure class.

Gauss is a collaborative studio project that has been active since 2014. Individually, Chicago native Natan H has released on labels as respected as ManMakeMusic and Finale Sessions, while Maltese producer Owen Jay has been spotted on Underground Quality and Minuendo to name but a few.
Independent from their accomplished solo careers, Gauss has a strong identity all of its own which taps into the immersive mood of Ornate Music while coming at it from a fresh direction. Building on the foundations of their self-released 12" series and appearances on Contrast-Wax and Hizou Deep Rooted Music, the Maximum Entropy EP finds the duo in formidable form.
From low-blowing electro drums to shimmering pads, rugged, snaking house grooves to hypnotic, metallic chords, on this record Gauss have carved out a cohesive sound world that channels the spirit of classic dub techno.
