Welcome to Anthony Naples first outing for Running Back. Swerve sees the New York resident putting his dancing shoes back on and taking a pause from his admittedly brilliant other side. A development that last year’s Club Pez on ANS already foreshadowed. While his music is at times ethereal and cerebral, but also engaging and compelling, Naples manages to fill the gap between finesse and function with idiosyncratic abilities.
Starting with the title track that builds a bridge between a beehive and Joey Beltram’s hoover sound, it’s clear that Naples has something unique in case of temperature and tempo. Swerve flows around an addictive bass line, adds a splash of piano and manages to feel big without the usual cheap tricks. Played by Four Tet and Pete Tong. If bangers-not-bangers would be a genre, Naples would have created one of its prime examples.
The rest follows lead: Here With You uses skippy beats underneath a TB-303, Right As The Sun Goes extracts elements of its two predecessors, but mirrors them with delightful mellowness and finally, Be To feels like the continuation of the sprawling hypnotism of the mid-nineties.

Originally conceived as a D.J. mixtape dedicated to friends and the time spent with them in the morning hours after the parties over (or beginning) - it quickly morphed into a soft focused meditation on all things warm and intangible.

This album represents the first time Anthony wrote the songs on instruments first - guitar, bass, synthesizer, drums, et cetera. Through changing well worn musical habits and endless jammin’, a new side of the A.N. sound revealed itself as liquid, phased-out, in-studio magic.

Blawan's new side project Bored Young Adults is up next on Will Bankhead's label The Trilogy Tapes. The Shy Dancers On Bungalowdorf Beach features some restrained and slow burning techno experiments that differ from Jamie Robert's more usual hard-hitting sounds. The seething title track treads the same path as Kassem Mosse or Vactrol Park. The Fentanyl techno of "But We Need This Bench" sounds like an old Regis record played on -8, while devoted fans of the young UK producer's sound will get something a bit more familiar on the menacing hypnotic techno grinder "Check Up From The Neck Up".

At long last, it's finally here. After two years of waiting, New York's Anthony Naples is ready to finally reveal his debut full-length LP, Body Pill, set for release on February 17th on Four Tet's Text Records. To coincide with the announcement, Naples has made "Refugio," the first single from the LP available. Listen to the full track here. It's a amazing how much can happen in a short time frame. At the beginning of 2012, Anthony Naples didn't have a song to his name; by the end of that year, he'd been heralded as one of the city's rising producer talents. The genesis was "Mad Disrespect" - a single that dominated Brooklyn's underground electronic music scene from even before its offical release. The track was a milestone for all involved. Not only was it Naples' first single, but it also was the first track he'd recorded, period. On a whim, he sent the track to Eamon Harkin and Justin Carter, the founders of New York's respected Mister Saturday Night series. A regular at their parties but an unknown to the duo, Anthony caught the pair's attention with "Mad Disrespect," and ended up as the cornerstone of label's inaugural release: the Mad Disrespect EP. Anthony's music caught the ear of a number of people that summer, none more important than Kieran Hebden, aka Four Tet, who commissioned Anthony to remix his single "128 Harps" - again, Anthony's first remix at that point. From there on, things sped up. He followed "Mad Disrespect" with a series of 12" released on a veritable who's who of influential labels: Scotland's respected Rubadub label, Four Tet's Text Records, Opal Tapes - all of which culminated in El Portal, his EP for Will Bankhead's Trilogy Tapes imprint. Along the way, he was invited to open for Four Tet at London's Fabric and invited to play Berlin's prestigious Panorama Bar. And now, a little over two years later, comes Body Pill, Anthony Naples debut full-length for Text Records. As Anthony tells it, the title comes from a mangled English translation that caught his eye in a Japanese vending machine. "When I ran the title past Kieran, and he said it just sounded like a lost rave classic, but I thought in the end it makes sense. The LP is a small dose of synthetic noises and rhythms." Naples says. Stylistically, the album draws inspiration from the city that gave Anthony his start: New York. "I wanted to make a streetwise record that was also solid and simple, like a brick or those weird fluorescent light tubes in the subway. They give off this weird hum that you hear only when you're alone in the station between trains late at night. I wanted to make a record that evoked that experience." Body Pill is a surprising album for Anthony, his most understated and mature release to date. Body Pill opens with a wall of ambient noise on "Ris," only to be overtaken by an a modest synth groove. Ambient noise washes over and eventually overtakes tracks like "Way Stone" and "Pale" later on in the record. But that's not to say there aren't echoes of Naples' work for Mister Saturday Night lurking throughout the record. "Abrazo" feels like the natural companion to Anthony's earlier singles, with elegant strings mingling with a deconstructed house-inspired beat. "Used to Be" is arguably Anthony's largest beat to date whose rolling hi-hats counterbalance the track's stabbing synths. The album's closer "Miles" abruptly morphs from a lo-fi house anthem into a surprisingly minimal synth soundscape, a microcosm of the record as a whole.

Says Mr Saturday Night about their first release...This is Mister Saturday Night, a party thrown by Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin. With a love of great music and a passion for building community, the Mister works to create an experience that?s truly fun and engaging for everyone involved. We find just the right space, install our very own sound system, make it feel like home and present music that we love all night long. We're starting a record label to release sounds that reflect the spirit of the party. All the music is lovingly picked by Justin and Eamon, and so far all the records are from new Brooklyn-based artists that they've met through the party. WRWTFWW Records is honored to announce the first ever vinyl release of Joe Hisaishi’s original soundtrack for the critically acclaimed and all around classic 1993 Japanese yakuza/crime/thriller movie Sonatine. The legendary album comes in a limited edition housed in a luxurious heavyweight sleeve with selective varnish printing and a special paper obi belt.
The celebrated Sonatine was directed, written and edited by Takeshi Kitano, who also takes center stage as the main protagonist of the thrilling yakuza film. Director, screenwriter, comedian, actor, tv personality and icon, 'Beat' Takeshi is also known for Boiling Point, Hana-Bi, Battle Royale, Johnny Mnemonic, Ghost in the Shell and many many more.
Considered one of the greatest ever, Joe Hisaishi is a composer, musical director, conductor and pianist behind over 100 film scores including Kitano’s A Scene at the Sea, Kikujiro, and Brother, as well as his famed work for director and animator Hayao Miyazaki’s Studio Ghibli masterpieces Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke and the list goes on. Little known fact: his first ever produced-album is a collaboration with percussionist Midori Takada (Through the Looking Glass): MKWAJU Ensemble’s MKAWJU also released on WRWTFWW Records.
The Sonatine movie score showcases the composer’s more contemplative, minimalistic, and intimate side in a superb and deeply evocative neo-classical and ambient musical journey. The depth and emotional resonance of the compositions make for an exceptional and timeless soundtrack. It is known to be one of Hisaishi’s own favorites.

It’s rare that a certain sound is entirely an artist’s own. Although undeniably a stew of impeccable influences – from blues to folk to Latin to dusty funk, soul and hip-hop – one cannot hear a Tommy Guerrero song without immediately recognising it as his - and his only.
The cult skater from San Francisco is globally renowned as one of the original members of the legendary "Bones Brigade" team. And as an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, his laid-back soul is beloved by all who’ve basked in its blissful glow.
There’s something elemental about this music that really stirs the soul. Strikingly beautiful and instantly addictive, it’s a kind of funk-fuelled, melody-driven, groove-based magic. There's a serenity and heart in the playing that radiates warmth and splendour, as if crafted for endless sunsets. His albums that surfaced on Mo Wax at the turn of the century have been treasured since their release and it’s two of his most vital LPs that we're honoured to reintroduce.
The originals were quietly pressed on to a single piece of vinyl so we've worked closely with Tommy this year to bring you these fresh, limited editions. They have been lovingly remastered, cut nice and loud on to heavyweight double vinyl and presented in deluxe gatefold jackets.
A Little Bit Of Somethin’ is a quietly majestic gem. Brimming with Guerrero’s horizontal “loose grooves”, these brief but innovative instrumentals demonstrate a rich variety and, as such, comprise an LP that is aptly titled. An enchanting start-to-finish listen, it was instantly regarded as essential upon release via Mo Wax in 2000. It has aged remarkably well.
Throughout this inspired collection, simplicity is key. In deploying it, Guerrero presents a beautifully crafted melodic soundscape. The distinctive, mellifluous approach of his guitar style, blending Brazilian, Cuban, Mexican, soul and jazz motifs, is at once startlingly new and tantalisingly familiar. Set against unrushed percussion, the music releases a crystal clear stream of healing frequencies to create a fragile, hypnotic atmosphere.
Each track clocks in at around three minutes and, with a lack of studio polish or commitment to traditional song structure, it’s a wonder how this enigmatic record demands your attention. However, through its gentle dynamism and impressive playing, it does just that. Whilst resolutely low-key, this lo-fi aesthetic feels genuinely organic and remarkably personal; its powerful intimacy truly connects. It’s what makes this album so beloved of those lucky enough to be already familiar with it. From Margaret Kilgallen's truly iconic cover artwork to the music contained within, it's all brilliantly effortless.
Guerrero’s musical ideas are consistently compelling throughout, making it impossible to select highlights. The album’s laconic drift touches upon jazz-fusion workouts and slow-mo hip-hop drums, Tortoise-style experimental post-rock and cinematic sound textures. It’s at once hazy, light and bouncy yet sombre and bluesy. The Latin soul of El Chicano blends with the breezy jazz of Grant Green. By employing guitars and drum machines to create a stripped down rhythmic tapestry of spellbinding, addictive songs, there are even traces of The Durutti Column. Central Processing Unit releases have all been logged in an eight-bit binary numbering system ever since the Sheffield label arrived on the scene with Cygnus' 2012 LPNewmark Phase. With 256 variations allowed for in the binary catalogue, CPU now hit the halfway point more than a dozen years into their run. In that time the imprint has grown into one of the most celebrated voices in contemporary electro, its monochrome sleeve design reaching iconic status and early releases trading for big money in certain circles. As such,CPU128 Classicsserves as both a victory lap and a line in the sand, a survey of some of the highs in the imprint's discography and a second chance for CPU aficionados to get their hands on out-of-print material. And where else to begin but with a track from the very first CPU release? 'Red District Girls', a choice cut fromNewmark Phase, is as perfect a scene-setter now as it was all those years ago. This is a number which brings the Drexciya sound into the present day, offsetting some whip-smart drum tracking and a grizzled synth bassline with brilliantly eerie keys higher in the mix. CPU's reputation as a premier purveyor of modern machine-funk has been built on tracks like 'Red District Girls'. This lineage is unsurprisingly well represented onCPU128 Classics. From DMX Krew's clattering 'Not Very' to Jensen Interceptor's gurgling 'mActavis', Mikron's vroom-vrooming 'Sleep Paralysis' to the stentorian punch of MNLTH's 'Flektro',CPU128 Classicsis bursting full of mutated dancefloor tackle. It's as true now as it was back in 2012 - if you're looking for broken-beat 808s, sidewinder bass and synths which sound like they've been beamed in from deep space, then CPU is your go-to. However, just because the label is well-known for that particular sound doesn't meanCPU128lacks variation. Far from it - indeed, while post-Warp synth-work remains an overarching principle here, this collection demonstrates just how far the label casts its net in sonic terms. Take, for instance, more cerebral offerings like CN's 'Stellar Awakening'. The track still shares a clear point of origin with something like 'Red District Girls', but there's an altogether more carefree feeling to this nugget of sun-kissed electro that sets the scene for another lane of CPU's output, one of cerebral synth exploration indebted to ats like Boards of Canada. This is truer still on Mrs Jynx's 'Diving Loop' - with softly keening synth pads offset by only faint pitter-patter drums, 'Diving Loop' is a beautiful piece of dawn chorus electronica which proves yet again that the robots have feelings too. While the final joint here, Microlith's 2016 offering 'Dance With Me', is still forged on piston-precise drum programming and a cornucopia of bleep-bloop synths, the track's uplifting bounce is a world away from the foreboding feeling of some of this record's darker joints. As such, it's a perfect way to close outCPU128 Classics, an album which celebrates Central Processing Unit's past in order to look to the future. Here's to 128 more.

The three-track vinyl is sourced from the original reels, cut at 45rpm, and comes with its iconic artwork on a 350gsm sleeve.
Ich möchte ein Eisbär sein…Written by Martin Eicher after a nightmare in which he saw talking polar bears on the walls, and with music by the Grauzone crew consisting of Martin and his brother Stephan Eicher, Marco Repetto, Christian "GT" Trüssel, and Claudine Chirac (on saxophone), "Eisbär" is the most recognizable title from the band, a sublime mix of ingredients reflecting the transitional era it comes from - the raw energy of punk music still palpable, combined with the audacity of early electronics, the warm groove of a disco gem, beautifully fragile lyrics, and one of the best basslines ever. It became a mega hit, totally unplanned, but how could you resist such a track?
"FILM 2" is the ultimate b-side monster, a menacing all-instrumental pre-techno masterpiece, slowly building to a magnetizing frenzy. An instant underground favorite, it was famously heard played at both speeds depending on the scenes and DJs you were frequenting, 45rpm as it was first intended, and 33rpm for the cosmic experience (search Daniele Baldelli’s Cosmic C75 1982 mixtape online for a great example of this).
The maxi single ends with "Ich Lieb Sie", a synth-pop meets doo-wop ballad, a true love song oozing with innocence. Simple, stylish, and just right.
At the crossroads of post-punk, new wave, pop, and electronic experimentation, the Eisbär maxi offers three songs that are technically different but hold the same spirit, the perfect embodiment of Grauzone’s music - wild, unpredictable, and youthful, yet sophisticated, catchy, and ingenious. "Rather than a compilation, this record is a summary of what Espionnage has done in the past two years, from the rap 12"s, the instrumental 12"s to the remixes I was given the opportunity to do. The members of The Espionnage Sound System, Yvan from Double Pact included (even if he only appears here on the interlude betweeen "Camille Groult Starr (rmx)" and "Si Tu Savais (rmx)"), have been essential to the label's development as a whole. The Chronowax Distribution staff has been equally vital to a structure primarily dedicated to independent vinyl production. By the way, I have to thank Ulysse Genet who, on top of lending his name to a track title, suggested the name "Espionnage" instead of "Le Cirque Disques" (which was my initial idea) and drew the first logo. Many thanks to my team : Olivier Rosset, Charlotte Dutoit, Thibaut de Longeville, Alexander Wise, the 360 Creative & Marketing teams, as well as X2N, Tom Kan, DJ Gilb'R, Roulé, Crydamoure, Benoît Blue Boy and his daughters Ludella and Amadine ; who have all contributed on one level or another to what this record is. Written and produced in a country house surrounded only by vast, empty landscapes and an endless sky, ‘Suicide Disco’ is the fruit of a 3-year long collaboration and Years of Denial’s debut LP for Veyl.
Urged to escape from crowded cities and information overload, the duo sharpened their sound and working process through isolation and introspection, crafting 11 songs filled to brim with enormous hooks, New Wave nostalgia and razor-sharp production details.
Barkosina’s voice echoes and oscillates against Jerome’s snares, profound and wounded at once. Her expressionist narrative take us to unknown yet familiar places, amplified by dub delays and otherworldly reverbs. Each track tells a story based on the intensity of relationships, a touching and distorted invitation into intimacy and complicity.
