Biome is fast becoming one of the most in-demand producers in the Dubstep scene, with a series of high-profile releases sealing his reputation as a master of arcane sound design and intense sharp-edged production. Following a handful of essential singles, Black Box has compiled Biome's most developed and complete release yet - the Two Way EP - showcasing the breadth and variety in his music. The EP opens with 'Reality', a dazzling mix of sublime bell chimes, lofty breaks and searing midrange, before moving into 'Inner Mind', a lush ensemble of emotive strings & pads, cruising drums, and delicate touches of piano and vocal. The second disc leads with the taut dynamics of 'Charged', where tense, unresolved textures and prodding synth hits flow over a tight structure of beats & bass. Abacus was just an all out bass experiment that I never thought would see the light of day and Dusty really shows off the more melodic style of my productions. After hearing these tunes played on big systems for so long I'm really happy that everyone can now finally get their hands on a copy."

"The Banshee EP was one of the last projects we worked on together in Bristol before moving to live elsewhere. After playing 'Banshee' across 2019 the track had picked up some interest and as our time in Bristol came to an end, we sat down to write three accompanying tracks that celebrated the last few years making music there.
After only having the tracks for a few months, lockdown hit and we never really had a chance to play the rest of the EP out to an audience, so we are excited to finally share these tracks at a time when shows are beginning to look possible again."

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, Plastikman's redefining acid techno masterpiece, Sheet One, has been mastered from the original tapes and reissued on vinyl via Mute and NovaMute.
Released in 1993 on Mute's subsidiary label NovaMute, this record was the debut for Richie Hawtin's alias Plastikman. 30 years on Sheet One is a landmark album in the field of electronic music, it changed the shape of what the genre could be and became.
Introducing one of techno's most recognisable logos, the album achieved a degree of notoriety for its acid blotter-style perforated artwork. Musically it focuses on laser-precise minimalist rhythms to drive a series of echo-box acid lines that gradually acquire power over the course of lengthy album tracks, with frequent use of the Roland TB-303, which gained prominence in the electronic music world as a staple of Chicago's acid house scene. Hawtin once described Sheet One perfectly in an interview with MusicRadar, saying "...It's music for the end of the party as you're melting into the floor, which is exactly what the name Plastikman was made to represent."
This seminal album helped to establish the template for minimal techno, and is a must listen for lovers of electronic music.

Kouslin returns to Livity Sound with a second collection of slippery club tracks after the 2020 Vision E.P. With an emphasis on head-twisting sound design and a detailed line in percussive programming, the London-based producer continues to reach into intriguing new areas without forsaking soundsystem-ready physicality.
The tracks which make up the Patterns E.P. stemmed from a period of personal experimentation, where Kouslin returned to making music for its therapeutic benefits rather than a fixed purpose. The loops and sketches he returned to and expanded upon for this EP bristle with originality at every turn.
There is a continued exploration of dancehall rhythms on 'King', while 'Five Four' toys with time signatures for a jagged, fast-paced abstraction of techno. 'Why Don't You Don't' is harder to pin down thanks to its knotty beat and mutant synthesis, and 'Michael' flips the script further with an unexpected swerve into pearlescent melodic lead lines - the perfect demonstration of the honest and instinctive approach Kouslin took when making these tracks.

SP:MC returns with another 12" on his own imprint Declassified Records. This, his fifth release continues to explore the UKG framework - whilst incorporating his influences & previous work in Dubstep & Jungle/D&B. The A side 'It's Over Now' is an upbeat affair, reminiscent of much-played track 'All Night' on Declassified 003. Tight snappy drums, soulful stabs with cheeky splices of an old R&B acapella. Not forgetting that trademark chest shaking low-end! The B side 'Full Circle' welcomes the first guest to the label - Dubstep pioneer DJ Youngsta. A decade on from their last collaboration on the legendary Tempa label, the two pick up where they left off with a deep tribal cut - harking back the the formative years of the Dubstep genre. Pev swiftly follows up the Pulse EP with another four tracks of sprightly club gear that continue to shape out his current areas of exploration in the studio. As ever, there are no fixed concepts or approaches - just an instinct for energising, inventive tracks taking in a range of tempos and rhythms.
The first half of Pulse Modulation EP is marked out by linear rhythms which showcase the most techno aspects of Pev's sound. 'Pulse V' is charged with the kind of alien synth lines which could only come from his studio, but also draw a line to the hi-tech soul of foundational Detroit techno. 'Pulse VI' has a starker, bleep-led sound pitched towards tougher dancefloors.
'Pulse VII' strips things back in comparison, leaning in on a blanket of bass and keeping the drums sparse and to the point - a study in soundsystem pressure. Widening the spectrum of the record, 'Pulse VIII' sees Pev make a rare push up into 160+ territory - something normally reserved for his DJ sets. Swerving obvious break edits, his take on jungle is lean and crisp, delivering a fresh slant on the sound while maintaining the sharp focus of his current output.
