San Proper is the real deal. Somewhat of a street legend even.. Ask anyone crossed paths with him and you will hear the wildest stories. This might be his debut album, but make no mistake, Proper is a hardcore DJ veteran, starting his career DJ'ing small-time gigs in the shadiest bars, six nights a week. True love for music and his unbreakable optimism kept him in the groove. His enthusiasm caught on and slowly but surely he garnered a devoted following. In 2007 he released his first releases for Rush Hour, but his big break came in 2009 when he dropped his now classic single 'Keep It Raw' for Perlon and shot to #1 in Germany's Groove Magazine Top 50. More singles followed and his profile of a must see DJ and pure bred entertainer rose, touring and creating cult followings everywhere from the Japan to South America. Dr. Proper has never been in a hurry, but in the fall of 2011 the time felt right for San to start working on his debut album. Months of rampaging studio sessions followed, writing tracks all over the globe during his frantic touring schedule or in his Amsterdam studio and Paris apartment. The journey finished in Berlin, where he ended up in the studio of Proper believer Ricardo Villalobos who eventually mixed the album, ensuring audiophile bliss. The result is the trippiest of trips. Taking you on a journey inside the twisted brain of a man who has seen it all, and then some, boasting raw emotion and subconscious desires. 'Animal' has its roots in house music, but you will have a hard time categorizing this beast, sounding like a cluster bomb of electronic funk, jazz and psychedelia. Like any good trip there will be some highs and some lows, but man, what a ride...

The Dutch six piece put their heads together to create two laidback tunes full of atmosphere and organic magic that blend just the right amount of spontaneity and song craft. The band have honed their sound at home and on stage with sold-out shows in and around Amsterdam, including as support act for bands such as Jungle By Night.

The A side track Loud N’ Stuff is one of those special moments when all the elements just fall into place, coming together in a hungover haze of new wave disco jams and dancing at their studio space in Haarlem. On the flip, Pada Pada combines tropical rhythms and percussion with lush chord progressions to perfectly soundtrack those cocktails by the pool on a wavy summer eve. Both tracks were recorded with Nic Mauskovic, with additional passes on the mixer for dubs and delays, to give the tracks an extra spacey sheen.

Munir surfed the globe with his band MIDNIGHT RUNNERS and stirred up the underground Funk community worldwide, earning him releases on Omega Supreme Records, Groove College and more recent at Hobo Camp Records. His early Disco and New Age influences result into heavy Funk and House sounds. Through vintage beat machines and synths, and with the help of his friend from Japan; Azumi, Munir captures the feeling of the late 70s and early 80s and transforms it into well-balanced layered cuts from 2016. Both sides showcase his skills and passion. Thick chord arrangements on the keys, boogie basslines and smooth guitar licks create his recognizable sound.

Melbourne’s got it (goin’ on)! Returning back to the city we hauled in yet another producer. M5K fixes us up with three edgy House tracks together with smooth, synthesized melodies and a wicked kick.
M5K has built up quite the resume, with releases on Melbourne recordlabels. Not just some new kid on the block, eh! Exactly the reason we’re excited to have him featured on Dopeness Galore.
The A side will get the party started. ‘We Got It (Goin’ On)’ reels you in with the synthesized boogie and sci-fi sound effects the Melbourne sound is known for. The track steadily climaxes to a high-energy war of sounds, making you want to get on
down by laying the track down with a double kick. Now, get ready for the flip side! We kept the artwork black, because this release
just feels dirty. Just listen to how grimy the bass gets and let Shawty tell you why. The final and title track is layered with repeating chords over a groovy baseline. M5K really breaks it down with ‘Healin Feelin’.
