Wipe The Needle consisting of Swedish Mikael Nybom and London-man Lee Gomez, have done a lot for themselves through the Defected sublabel 4th Floor and now with a full-length album coming on Soundmen on Wax. But it’s their first Raw Fusion release which is truly the crème de la crème of house music! The release starts off with a high resolution gospel banger done with the help of Swedish resident, via Lusaka Zambia, Mr Aaron Phiri aka Zulu Gestapo (last of the Gris Gris) from the raw uncut concrete jungle hip-hop duo Hearin' Aid. His vocals break down the firmest of titanium walls when mashed up with the organs and jacked up kicks of this soon to be peak hour business.

Heads up, we got a hot premiere on GAMM from Chicago's finest Emmaculate and Basement Boys legend DJ Spen !
The story behind this release goes something like this...
Our buddy and GAMM contributor Coflo spins at a dope house party, drops the A side 'Step Into A Black Whole' and the club literally explodes when the track hits the massive hip hop breakdown (KRS!) and returns and transforms into a jazzy Afrobeat house stomper. It's an +11 min long musical journey going from house to hip hop to Disco-Afrobeat. The GAMM representative in the house "feels it" and asks Coflo who's behind the tune, and after a few months, the connection is made with Emmaculate and DJ Spen to secure the release for GAMM.
A few weeks later, Emmaculate delivers a second track, 'Boogie On Disco Woman', which is a killer Funk/Disco/Soul rework with raw drums, nasty clavinets and soulful female vocals.
This could easily have been the feature track, but lands on the B side this time.
Incredible jams !

'Drum Tartar' is a percussive tour de force that oscillates between groovy Jazz-Funk and spicy Bossa-Nova, culminating in a thundering drum break that continues for an impressive third of the track.

Our favourite Colombian of all time is by far Felipe Gordon. His individual (and jazzy) take on house music and beyond has given him a big following within the underground dance community. We reached out to Felipe and asked him if he wanted to do a release on GAMM with only one request..."do whatever you want".
The music we got sent back is a beautiful four-track EP that delivers all aspects of Felipe Gordon's unique take on dance music.

Our multi-talented musician and producer Lay-Far once in a while takes a break from producing for editing long forgotten gems that need a little retouch.
Here at GAMM we're of course much in favour of this direction, especially when he delivers the goods as with this sunny release.
On the the A Side Lay-Far takes on a classic Nu-Yorican jazz-funk-disco jam with big strings and a killer fender grooves loop.
On the B, it's time to brush off a killer Japanese jazz-funk-disco winner that's been a big tune on the rare groove scene since the 90's...

You'll hear reminiscence of Dilla, 90's R&B and on the opening track 'Chill' and a kinda 90's Jersey house / r&b track (pitched down) on the B Side track 'Hanna-Mi-Dia' (feat vocals from Blu & Ta'Raach).

GAMM is back after a short leave of absence with a grand disco rework (not edit).
Our friend Moplen definitely knows his way around the disco and here it all comes full circle as both music and vinyl artwork (full-color 12" vintage sleeve and labels) look and feel like the sound of black New York City circa 1977.
The Blackout Night comes in a main extended +9 min long version and reprise mix (dub version), both are soaked in big strings, soulful vocals, and a thumpin' Disco backbeat.
One for the DJs...one for the dancers...

'Love Me' has that 80's house backbone but loops and filters the disco samples into a real journey...proper Loft biz if you ask us.
'U&Me' is a serious boogie stepper that is as bumpy as it gets and together with the smooth vocals this will sound ace at any disco jam :)

Just like its precursor, this is a highly personal release to Al Kent, as he not only created the musical reworks but also the full artwork from top to bottom.
The release comes with Al's beautiful design in a full-colour sleeve, inners etc...it's a truly eye-catching 12" to have in your collection :)
As for the music, Al delivers as always with three solid productions that range from Philly-style disco (Welcome To The Dub), Jazz-Funk (Dubanova) and a truly amazing end piece entitled 'Happiness & Peace' that is both psychedelic and beautiful at the same time...our fave cut if you ask us (check check).

Japanese born but nowadays NYC resident, DJ Monchan is a long-time purveyor of Disco edits and early House music, something you'll clearly hear on his debut release on GAMM.
The first track 'What is your love worth' is really something special as it starts off with a gritty and raw early house loop but then makes a dramatic turn over to high energy NY Disco...and then back to the grit.
A great jam session!
The B-side offers a deeper Disco-House track that easily could've been released in the early 90's on any of the relevant NYC labels of the time.
