Release Note:
Born and raised in the heart of the French Alps, and now residing in Paris, DJ Physical's sound is one of a harsh romance. Perhaps it was the beauty and serenity of the snow-covered mountain tops and the ferocious nature of French techno moulding together that spawned his 'Raw Poetry' aesthetic; an emotive blend of dark and light that feels like it could belong in concert halls and theatres as well as underground sex clubs.

Following an outing on Lobster Theremin's recent various artist fundraiser for Ukraine, and appearances on Rinse France and Running Out Of Steam, the Parisian local serves up five deadly cuts of brooding electro and techno. 'Not So Human' delivers the influence of trance on the contemporary techno soundscape, but doesn't over-do it. Trance-licked, not dominated, the uncompromising cut of wave-driven techno is the perfect accompaniment for when you want to take things up a notch. 'Sex Club' maintains DJ Physicals' fascination with 'Raw Poetry' - brimming with breaks-driven breakdowns, spinetingling atmospherics and low-pressure basslines that highlight the variety of influence the emerging producer brings to the table.

Acid synth-lines and lively trance-inspo create an altogether lighter mood as we flip the record on 'Mortal Dance', before 'Easy Dancer' changes its tune altogether with a pounding cut of progressive, freaky electronica.

Closing the release is 'Go Further' - misty electro, Southern-trap samples and those distinctive, high-culture ambient interludes creating a sense of emotive mystery. A well-rounded release with plenty of left-turns, this is DJ Physical's 'Raw Poetry' at its finest. More

Release Note:
LIP006 introduces a new face to the label: DJ Physical. Seemingly emerging out of nowhere but already familiar to the connaisseur, 2022 sees him bursting onto the scene with releases on renowned labels such as 10 Pills Mate and Shall Not Fade.

For his 'Calm & Quiet' EP on Life In Patterns he delivers an auditory self-portrait describing his state of mind during the last two years. The brutality of these long periods of confinement and the frustration it entailed are expressed in distant melancholic pads, raw acid lines and sombre rap vocals showcasing the Paris based artist's UK jungle and Australian techno influences.

The EP is completed by two collaborations, a stab infused roller with label head Ferdinger and an acidic moody banger with childhood mate DJ Bigspin.

As &on&on, DJ's Noni and Worth Way have been making some serious waves over the past year, being named one of DJ Mag top artists to check out in 2022 and also featured on Disclosure's DJ Kicks compilation.

On their first release on the label, the duo boast their prowess in composing uplifting, melodic dance music which draws on myriad influences to create unique and innovative sounds. Whilst every track on Mentalphysics has fun and festivity at its core, some take their inspiration from disco ('Mid Valley'), whilst others from groovy deep house ('All Day') or breakbeat ('Delta T'). Alex Virgo breathes his love of disco into all that he touches. With each release the London producer explores the genre's myriad forms, ranging from nu-disco to italo and cosmic inflections. On "Don't Buy The Sun" EP retro drum machines reverberate amongst full-bodied synth melodies, often backed by an assertive beat that gives the tracks their driving propulsion. At times, the music seems most fitted to an industrial warehouse setting whilst at others, a space shuttle ride to the moon.

DJ Boring embarks on the sixth expedition into the exotic lands of palm trees and blue skies with his dreamy 'Different Dates' EP.

Expedition six features three jams packed full of moody synth lines and broken beat drum sequences, accompanied by a mind-blowing remix from Baltra. More

Maroki comes through with a 6-track serotonin boost for our Lost Palms series.

With its title meaning 'flower' in Dutch, Bloem EP sees Maroki depart somewhat from the colder acid and electro inflections of most of his previous releases, favouring instead a sunnier vibe and a focus on melody and texture.

'ICBT1' embodies this sugar-coated departure perfectly. High-frequency metallic synth plucks form a dynamic melody, making up just one element of a dense soundscape which also compiles a reverb laden cymbal break, elated flutes and pitched-up vocal chops. The title track, together with 'Forgot You' strips things back a little, both driven by an understated deep house beat. 'Bloem' sees the EP at its most gentle with bubbly xylophonic tinkles that evoke the hypnotic allure of K-Lone's 'Cape Cira' LP; whilst 'Forgot You' gets its melody from the low ends.

'Forgot Me' is its moody older sibling and the most minimal track of them all, showcasing the darker underbelly to Maroki's sound with eerie underwater arpeggios and hollow percussion. This atmosphere sticks around for 'Why': an entrancing full-bodied breaks track sure to be closing DJ sets this Summer.
