DJ Aakmael is a producer we’ve been loving for many years and we’re proud to be presenting you with his Freerange debut. The US artist has had consistent releases dating back to 2004 and has graced the discographies of many a fine label including Uzuri, Earthrumental, Kolour Ltd, his own UnXpozd Entertainment and most recently the hotly tipped UK label Church. Here on his Daydreeming EP we’re treated to four original tracks of real house music produced by a true original of the underground. Kicking off we have Daydreeming with muscular beats laying the foundation for some widescreen orchestral strings and off-kilter and subtly deranged torchsong vocals. Rimbaudian steps up for the remix following what for us, is one of the tracks of 2016; Werka 8 from his Meda Fury release. The Swedish producer brings a very fresh approach with a loopy and hypnotic techno edge which draws you in with it’s repeating vocal and trippy sinewave melodies. Flipping over we have Basement 2 which drops the tempo slightly for a more heads down Detroit-inspired jam. A simple three note synth repeats throughout while moody pads bring the deep heat resulting in a track that you could get lost in for days. Beacot Road closes the EP in fine style with introspective filtered piano chords providing the magic on this simple, stripped back track, the whole thing sounding somehow blunted like it’s being beamed through a thick haze of ganja smoke. ‘Concentrate’ is a dusty & nostalgic Deep House jam, with its MPC’d piano chords, swinging hats and vintage hip hop style hooks. ‘Homage’ is a soothing slab of House with slow filtering chords, crisp hats, deep subby bass & ethereal pads. ‘Use What You Got’ is a lesson in doing just that, doing what he knows best, how he knows best. Raw, bumpin’ rhythms back up crystalline synths that sparkle over cavernous bass. ‘Don’t U Ever’ takes a deeper dive with it’s low-passed lead humming along over phasing hats, chunky kicks and chopped vocals calling back to the days of Max Graef and Money $ex. Finishing up the EP is the sexiest cut ‘Line’ with chopped soul vocals echoing over deeply filtered chords and bass synth accents.

Glaswegian House don Tiptoes offers up some absolute belters for his Record Business EP which chalks up his 3rd appearance on the Slothboogie label. The SB crew have been gagging to release these tracks ever since he dropped early demos at one of their infamous 24-hour parties at Sisyphos, Berlin that caused a mad rush to the booth and demands for track IDs!

The title track ‘Record Business’ is a peak time filtered House bomb that has been causing mayhem in sets over the past year… an absolute ear worm! 'Call Me' is another juicy slab of HOUSE that features looped up Motown licks, Jackin’ brass stabs and someone who is not very happy that Tiptoes hasn’t been returning her calls! Finishing off the A side is ‘Food’; the very essence of a ‘Deep House Roller’. Hypnotic tonal loops cycle over tribal drums which are guaranteed to lock any dance floor into a trance.

A project she describes as a "straight down the middle, sample-based deep house record, wearing its '90s influences on its sleeve, with pride." It's late night deep house, filled with emotion and groove, which speaks to us all. More

SlothBoogie Records return for 2023 with a five tracker from Moonee.

Groovence Discs boss Francois Lefevre is well versed in deep grooves and has been releasing some of his finest discoveries on the label since 2015. More recently he's been making his own deep and atmospheric productions under the Moonee moniker which took off in 2020 thanks to debut track Faith & Sorrow. Collaborations with some of the French scene’s finest producers Mangabey and Tour Maubourg soon followed as well as a remix for Sweely’s banger 'I Gotta Keep On'.

The Wabi Sabi EP on the label landed in 2022 and was highlighted by Juno's editorial team as 'a sumptuous, slowly building chunk of intergalactic deep house beat loveliness'. That same EP caught the SlothBoogie crew's eye and they immediately began working on presenting a selection of Moonee's tracks that would celebrate their shared love of deep yet pumping Disco and House sounds.

The Primal Groove EP was born and it starts off with 'Apples', a Motor city soul drenched track with filtered bass, dusty horn samples and spaced out guitar licks. Shuffled along by MPC beats before an otherworldly vocal washes over and brings it all to a close. 'Shishingo' is up next with it’s clever vocal manipulation, bouncy drums, subtle organ flourishes and a skipping bassline that builds up to some good ol’ time piano workout. Completing the A side is 'Dinner At Michelle's'... the most disco cut of the 12''. More shuffling shakers and filtered guitar loops backed by a thumping kick and ever circling strings leading the way for a full on 4/4 workout.

Flipping over to the B sides introduces us to the title track 'Primal Groove' that takes us deep into a nostalgic trip with its string swells and filtered bass. Moonee is flexing his deep house muscles on this one as snappy percussion punctuates more MPC sampling, building tension towards the reveal of the main heads down groove section… classy business. Finally for dessert is 'Boka' a sumptuous glistening track that’s primed for beachside sunsets. Saturated with hypnotic vibes that’ll help you drift away into a calmer, more peaceful sanctuary. More

Tiptoes makes a welcome return to SlothBoogie Records with a fresh four-track EP, entitled ‘The Akai Samurai Strikes Again’.

Glasgow’s Tiptoes has long been a respected name in the Scottish electronic music circuit, bringing his eclectic style to the table as a DJ, blending everything from jazz to jungle, house to techno, garage, broken beat and many more genres. His productions are a nod to his many influences and once again with this EP were treated to an amalgamation of sounds.

‘Techno Woo’ leads the way and see Tiptoes embracing a filter house feel, merging a number of choppy funk licks, vocal chants, and bass lines in an ever-unfolding dynamic matter, while dusty drums carry the bouncy groove throughout. ‘Brotherman’ then tips the focus on to soul drenched guitar lines, brass melodies, snaking bass grooves and hypnotic vocal lines alongside loose, swinging percussion.

Opening the flip side is ‘Mars Landings’, embracing a deeper house aesthetic courtesy of hazy Rhodes chords, swelling vocal loops and organic drums before ‘Strings’ rounds things out, as the name would suggest the composition is built around expansive string melodies, gritty bass stabs and sturdy, thunderous drums. London’s SlothBoogie records welcomes Subjoi to its roster with his four-track ‘Reflections’ EP.

Hailing from Warsaw in Poland and now residing in Adelaide, Australia, Subjoi has been gaining steady traction in the House scene over the past five years, racking up releases on the likes of clipp.art, Shall Not Fade’s Lost Palms sub-label, Lobster Theremin sub-label Distant Hawaii and 13th Hour amongst others. Here we see him joining the roster of SlothBoogie Records with some more soul-infused and sun-drenched house cuts.

Up first on the EP is ‘At A Time’, seeing Subjoi lay down an amalgamation of disco string, brass and vocal samples atop a swinging drum groove, dynamically evolving with filter sweeps and a loopy feel throughout. ‘Gone’ follows next and employs more classic house tropes courtesy of a bouncy piano line, robust drums and hooky vocal chops.

Opening the B-side is ‘What You Do’, shifting things aesthetically to 2-step drums alongside airy stab sequences, bubbling synth melodies and processed R&B style vocal lines. ‘Sapporo Nights’ completes the EP next on a deeper tip, journeying through hazy string lines, warm bell chimes, heavy doses of sub bass and stripped-back, bumpy drums. Jesse Bru joins forces with Max Ulis this April for the collaborative ‘Similar Nature’ EP, comprising five original cuts from the duo and pencilled for release on SlothBoogie Records.

West Coast Canada producer and DJ Jesse Bru, as well as being a regular on SlothBoogie Records, has been releasing his twist on contemporary house via the likes of Happiness Therapy, Pulse Msc and Inhale Exhale amongst others in recent years. Here we see him team up with fellow Vancouver-based artist Max Ulis, who also operates as one half of the duo Sabota.

‘Banh Mi’ leads the way and much like the Vietnamese delicacy itself lays down a delectable soul-infused feel filled with dubbed out chords, distorted drums, and vocal chants. ‘Moisture Cult’ follows and retains a similarly dubbed out feel, fusing spiralling stab echoes and pulsating subs with shuffled drums. ‘TBH’ then shifts focus over to a modern electro feel with crunchy 808 drums, snaking arpeggio lines, resonant leads, and elongated subs.

Up next is ‘Semblance’ which twists and turns through choppy breaks, intricately intertwined bass stabs, plucked synths and airy atmospherics before ‘Big Chirp’ rounds out the release on a raw house tip with swinging drums, squelchy acid bass tones and sweeping ethereal pads. More

Scruscru & Mike Fot return to SlothBoogie Recordings for the second instalment of their ‘Spliff Jams’ series, ‘Vol. 2’.

Scruscru and Moscow’s Mike Fot teamed up between 2018 and 2020 for a series of jam sessions at the latter’s apartment to record a bunch of music using a variety of Roland and Korg gear late into the night. Vol.1 was released on Sloth Boogie in September of 2021 and here the pair return to the label for the Vol.2 to kick start 2022.

‘k60k’ leads the release, fusing skippy garage beats, squelchy acid licks, oscillating keys and cut up vocals, ‘Enjoint’ retrains a similar aesthetic with a shuffled garage-tinged rhythm and amalgamation of chopped and pitched vocals snippets while a bumpy bass groove and warbling chord sequences further fuel the bouncy groove.

‘Hummus Dealer’ follows next on the flip side and shifts focus to swinging breakbeats, bubbling synths and hazy brass samples throughout. ‘Bro’ccoli Lasagna’ then rounds out the release, dropping the tempo to deliver an ethereal slice of downtempo goodness fuelled by off-kilter drums, snaking resonant synth lines and airy textures.
