Real name Balázs Semsei, Norwell has turned out a steady stream of releases on labels like Dalmatia Daniel, Pinkman, Chabu Recor-dings, Seagrave and his own Farberwechsel imprint until now, always coming on strong with a personal artistic vision plus a sense of drama. Across four craftily cuts on Umwelt’s label, he revisits his own dystopian universe made of sonic frequencies fused into rich atmosphere with a strong array of emotions. From the haunting opener “Geometric Vision” to the explosive final “Conversation Patterns”, Nor-well signs one of his best release to date. Appendix may refer to any text added to the end of a book or an article, containing information that is relevant to the main subject matter. Not that this is a way to say that this is the end of Shabu Recordings in any way, but rather a call back to Norwell's work while using its previous incarnation as a starting point to elaborate and expand the world created previously. Although, it focuses on different events and it stands on its own as its own entity. Appendix starts off where Norwell's previous release on Shabu, I Kissed The Sun, left off : a big morning stroll in a psychedelic forest with unseen, yet familiar, crea- tures inhabiting it. Willie Burns (The Trilogy Tapes/WT Records/ L.I.E.S. Records) complements this unusual walk in the woods by absorbing it into his warehouse banger signature. Burns' rework focuses on micro- events of the original to create a sort of granular House version out of them. The adventure continues on a somewhat melancholic turn with We Have Been Here Before and Sometimes as the B Side. While We Have Been Before is a more dancefloor-oriented take to Krautrock's signature synthline layering, Sometimes is Norwell's venture into a more Techno universe than he's mostly associated with to come out with a soothing, yet banging work. As digital bonuses, Norwell offers Glimpse : a short but catchy synth jam riddled with different layers of complexity. This piece is then taken into obscurity by Farbwechsel Records' boss S Olbricht for a ride into a 80s-cyberpunk club where people are trying to dance their problems away in a dystopian world. More

Some might say Jordan Fields is one of the most criminally underappreciated figures to rise out of Chicago in the late 90s, not for people who know what's what though. After a career spanning more than 20 years he has established himself as one of the key figures of the underground. Coming out of where everything started, Chicago, Jordan released records on a handful of key labels like Catalyst, Track Mode, SOM Underground, Mood Groove, Maffia. He did not stop there and today he is still releasing bangers having never lost that magic touch that has kept him firmly grounded on the purest form of the underground, and that, after more than 20 years is pretty much unheard of. When we first contacted Jordan we wanted to go back to where it all started, we wanted to be transported to late 90s Chicago, to a time where it was all about the dance floor, when tracks meant something more than songs, when purely club-oriented music was the purest form of the underground. To be honest we were not expecting to get exactly what we wanted straight away, he immediately sent us a collection of tools straight out of DAT tapes he had, going all the way back to the 90s and early 2000s, so yeah to say that we are excited with this release would be a huge understatement. This is a collection of tools meant for the dancefloor, not reminiscent of some gone by era, these are the real deal, made by a true master, 20 years ago, for the future. More

We have been holding onto this one for quite a while as we were afraid putting this two tracks on one record would be overkill, but screw it! , weve never believed there is such a thing as too much awesomeness. Side A sees Legowelt doing an edit kind of song in the most Legowelt way possible and its not even an edit. The result ... craziness my friends, as can only be done by the mad man himself. Side B is quite a different beast, and one that is quite dear to our heart, as it is the debut of local producing duo Dos Attack.
