Glasgow's finest Austin Ato is first out of the blocks off this mysterious new series “I Love Your Edits” with a 4 track EP of Disco Edits & Reworks following on from his work on Classic Music Company, Percolate, Phonica White, Defected, Me Me Me, Futureboogie, Delusions Of Grandeur and our very own Pantai People.

Two tracks on the funkier edge, whilst two are full on face-melters, both will tear the floors up. More

Since 2017’s ‘Song For Mr Lewis EP’ on Phonica White, Austin Ato has dropped stunningly funky 12”s with ease on many respected house labels including Classic Records and Defected. We were waiting for the right track for his follow-up on Phonica White and when we heard ‘When Love Is Tender’, we knew it was the one - a huge disco house based on an obscure Philadelphia-style jam.

It’s the simplicity of the original mix that sets the tone with pumping and driving Disco drums backed to roof raising saxophone licks and soulful vocal snippets, with those all-important deeply moving Philly string samples that are restrained when necessary and released at all the right moments, especially when the drum drops. ‘All Night Long’ highlights Austin Ato’s sample chopping expertise. The drums roll effortlessly through the track as dusty Soul and Disco samples echo and repeat, conjuring sonic memories of Andrés and Pépé Bradock’s best work. More

Scottish producer Austin Ato has been making waves the last couple of years having had well received releases on Futureboogie and Phonica White and this year looks to be his best yet! Full disclosure...I changed the entire release schedule to jam this record in this year. When you listen, hopefully can see why. From getting the demos during my breakfast, the record was agreed and in the schedule by the time I’d finished my dinner. Currently if you cut Austin Ato I believe he’ll bleed an amazing record. This record swings between a peak-time hands in the air pink loveheart vibe, hot and heavy classic sample based house, and some real basement orientated machine-made jacking house. Its like a quadruple A Side release, and I personally find it impossible to pick a favourite on here. More

Austin Ato is the latest project from Colin Bailey, the multi talented producer from Oban in Scotland who has been the man behind the Drums Of Death moniker since 2008, and has also recorded under the Frankie Dreams and Coba aliases. With forthcoming material also due on Phonica White, Ato lands on Futureboogie with the massive feel good vibes of “Music Will Save The Day”, backed with two superb remixes from Auntie Flo and Christophe. Featured here are two original mixes of “Music Will Save The Day”. The “Dub Mix” the is classic house music jam, packed full of energizing musical flourishes, from the Balearic tinges of the sequenced mallet riff, whimsical pads and booming bassline to the searing crowd chant and the joyous piano motif. Ato displays some serious musical chops here, which are further enhanced on the “Vocal Mix” with the addition of a bi-lingual vocal hook that will surely act as a call to arms on any discerning dancefloor. On the “Auntie Flo’s Hidden Garden Remix”, the Huntleys & Palmers mainstay strips things right back for a beatless excursion, letting the percussive elements drive the forward motion whilst the melodies and thick synth pads wash over like crashing waves, a great reinterpretation by Brian d’Souza AKA Auntie Flo. Futureboogie’s very own Christophe provides the second remix; tweaking an acid riff over a heavy, old school drumbeat and teasing in the musical elements, providing a tougher and more jackin’ take on the Original Mix, whilst keeping faithful to the original vibe. French firecracker Adrien Calvet shacks up on those sun-kissed Bali shores providing a luscious EP for Pantai People’s fifth release. Soulful serenity underpinned by bumping house grooves with that distinctive French feel.

On the A, title track ‘Le Doigt De Toto’ kicks off the journey with its infectious bassline, sweeping pads and absorbing vocals. Beachside or boothside, this one hits just right. Berlin’s Cinthie then works her magic giving it a late night, heads down, deep house rework.

Flip it for another two gems, the jazz-infused, acid-tinged ‘Riesling’ featuring Coupe Melba that slips down like a smokey Negroni with an added kick and the slap bass channelling, cosmic percussive workout ‘Esperance’.
