Das Komplex - Lagos
Das Komplex joins up with the King Of Kong imprint to release four soul-infused tracks entitled ‘Reverse Hallucination’. After spending years as a bedroom musician and occasional DJ Marcin Lukaszewicz, modest producer from North-Western Poland known as Das Komplex debuted four years ago on local FASRAT label. Since then he became one of the most respected Polish producers, releasing an album on Catz’n’Dogz’ Step label, as well as singles for Young Adults, Love On The Rocks or People Must Jam. His very singular, hazy breed of sample- based house-derived music made its way to sets of numerous high-profile DJs (from the late Andrew Weatherall to Axel Boman), eventually making its way to no other than DJ Harvey who included one of his tunes on his recent ‘Mercury Rising’ compilation. Das Komplex comes to King Of Kong with a new package of mind-bending yet club-ready tunes, proving his skills as master of contemporary disco music with a romantic twist. ‘Maybe There’ starts slowly with a lazy, syncopated beat only to introduce a bass riff of mammoth proportions, which carries the track for its 8 minutes - by the end reaching a proper dancefloor momentum. ‘Stay’ starts with a piano melody and hazy synths to be transformed into an epic, 10-minute mid-tempo disco groove, with live instruments and angelic vocals, a neon-lit lullaby for early morning hours. ‘Lagos’ takes a slightly darker route, but even here a heavy, percussive groove is brightened by bursts of uplifting piano, while ‘Sounds’ keeps the hazy vibe going, with layers of unintelligible voices over a smoky groove.

The top tier imprint that is Is It Balearic is back with more blissed-out and beach brilliance, this time with a trio of masterpieces from Das Complex. A whole world of influences are called up on here and then distilled into primo Complex sounds - opener 'Quest' brings a slick 80s new wave vibe with a ragged guitar riff and splashy hits over heavy drums and under well-treated vocals. It is awash with waves of dance floor warmth then 'Never Stop' is all shimmering vocals and Japanese house chords over 80s house beats. Emotive and uplifting for sure, then ' Dzis' closes out with chugging percussion and strummed acoustic guitars. It's a heart of the dance floor gem full of love and good-time vibes.

Das Komplex, aka Marcin £ukaszewicz aka.. what is this guy’s name? Whoever he is, he is fucking slow. But word on the street is, he is super happy, to be slow, and to make records, and build ships, or whatever it is that he does, when he’s not answering our emails. Rumour has it, that Henry is the man who built the Ostbahnhof - with his own bare hands.
Before that he was making music. For twenty carefree, happy-go-lucky years. Recently, he started releasing some of it, much to his surprise, on nice, family-themed labels such as Young Adults and Father & Son. This is his first offering for Love On The Rocks. It’s sublime, it’s soft, and it wants you to fall in love, at night, back in the days, under the electric light of your favourite dancefloor, with two major jams on the A-side, and a consciousness-altering, life-changing, dance floor destroying, 13-minute disco trip on the other. Music to microdose to. More

das komplex - When
Das Komplex or Marcin to his parents has been steadily putting out incredible music for the last few years, building on an extremely well tailored collection of tracks they have started hitting all sorts of people's radar, no one more so than Dj Harvey who has been supporting his releases at some of his big shows. A1. Under Feet - Whilst the people of Australia are dancing, the people of Poland are sleeping. Or vice versa...Starting off with some lcd fuelled vibes before a psychedelic phasing disco loop appears out of the smoke before twisting the track out in a slightly different direction. A2. W Podwodnym Pasniku - Funky bass, filtered chords and a familiar vocal sample combine for this almost early french house sounding track circa '96. B1. Bearded Dwarf - Very much sounding like Prins Thomas has been at work here, a big room Scandinavian sounding house track (via Poland!).
Big atmospherics, other-worldly vocal samples, lovely guitar snatches and driving piano with the addition of some tribal flute! B2. When - Our favourite cut from the EP, cleverly using a Herbie Hancock sample and layering with disco sounds, vocals and a deep driving bass line to produce his trademark atmospheric, moody house sound. As always pressed on 180gm vinyl. Please hunt down and destroy dance floors accordingly. Keep Sydney Open More

A1- D¿em A2- Everywhere B1- Obelisk B2- Slap C1- Redukcja Dysonansu Poznawczego C2- City D1- All For Love D2- Brukiew
Info:
Catz ‘n Dogz ready the next 12” on their vinyl only PETS raw and refined offshoot - STEP. This comes
in the follow up to records from A1 Bassline, Eduardo De La Calle, Andre Kronert and the label owners
themselves and marks the return Das Komplex who offers up his ‘All For Love’ LP.
Hailing from Koszalin in Poland, Das Komplex is undoubtedly an artist of many talents - a full time
Architect by trade, he has released material on Father And Son Records and Tapes label and also
offered up the extolled and coveted 6th pressing on the STEP imprint back in August 2015 - a record
that sold out rapidly after hitting the shelves. Now - his return marks the first foray into long-play format
for STEP and allows Das Komplex to stretch his legs across 8 masterful Disco grooves.
D¿em kicks things off to a sunny start with sizzling guitar licks and softly pattering bongos before the
slick Italo-tinged ‘Obelisk’ and the richly atmospheric ‘Redukcja Dysonansu Poznawczego’ follow up.
The project spreads out towards the jubilant and dreamy ‘All For Love’ which leads into ‘Brukiew’ - an
introverted but ultimately feel-good conclusion that wraps up a beautifully balmy collection and another
coup for STEP. More

After his last year debut on FASRAT Das Komplex is on fire - after EPs for Young Adults and Pets Recordings here he is again with a brand new 12" showing his versatility and ability to seamlessly blend multiple genres. All tracks on "Pudding" show clearly his dub and reggae influences applied to a light as a feather deep house rhythm frame, subtly infused with cosmic stylings and some synthpop nostalgia. At the same time, solid grooves carry Das Komplex' trademark melodic hooks - resulting in proper heads music that would work perfectly on any dancefloor - and any radio alike. "Pudding" sounds like a perfect teaser for Polish producer's debut artist album - due later this year on FASRAT.

Poland's Father And Son Records And Tapes presents another stellar release from the man Das Komplex. Side A brings us two remixes from his much sought-after debut EP "Nowadays": first one is dreamy "Like A Fish", here treated by Norwegian disco legend Rune Lindbaek together with his partner Helene Rickhard. They extend the ambient intro, which is followed by super-catchy bass and drums, slowly adding guitars for maximum uplifting effect, a true Balearic anthem. Next, the space-disco duo U-Ka turn "Siren" into a full-on slo-mo bass-heavy club hit, with shuffling rhythms and distorted vocal samples, definitely one for the dancefloor. Side B bring the title track, a new gem from Das Komplex, apparently designed to tear apart the clubs worldwide: a 16-minutes long monster of a tune, seamlessly melting deep house, disco and new wave into a completely new and original quality - not to mention a vocal sample taken from some obscure Polish record. Another sure shot for Das Komplex!

One modest man known as Das Komplex has been steadily producing music for almost a decade now in his quiet hometown of Koszalin in Western Pomerania region of Poland. It could have stayed like this if not for Maciek Sienkiewicz (veteran DJ and promoter, one of the pioneers of Polish electronic music scene), who picked some tunes for his new label FASRAT. As the artist himself prefers to stay out of the spotlight, let the music speak for itself: from sun-drenched, guitar-driven "Like A Fish" (remixes coming from some key players in modern disco/Balearic scene), through futuristic disco of "Narkoleptyczni Troche" and hazy deepness of "Nowadays", towards epic, over 13 minutes long, jazzy, dreamy, but no less energetic "Siren". Elegant, original, infectious grooves for club play and home listening alike. Limited edition with cover art by acclaimed contemporary painter Aleksandra Waliszewska.

Newborn Jr. - NJ Public Pool (Warehouse Preservation Society Remix)
King Of Kong Records, a new venture of Artur8, Anton Klint & Edvin E. presents it’s new release, the “World Museum” EP - a modern classic from Newborn Jr. Warsaw-based producer Adam Brocki released a string of collaborative records - with Earth Trax (Bartosz Kruczynski) for Phonica, Dopeness Galore, Echovolt and Rhythm Section, or as Private Press for Rekids and Indigo Area. His mature, carefully crafted sound, stripped yet powerful, now finds its place on King Of Kong. “What What What” starts the EP off on a right foot: broken rhythm, clever voice snippets, cosmic pads and heavy bassline reminds of some archetypal Shake productions, off-kilter yet somehow infectious. “World Museum” rolls out relentlessly on a steady kickdrum, and again the backbone is held firmly by bass. Swirling noises come and go, adding a dash of melancholy into this club-ready tool. “NJ Public Pool” again sounds like a long-lost timeless classic, with just right amount of melody and irresistible party vibe. It’s accompanied by a moodier and denser remix from Warehouse Preservation Society (aka TK half of Split Secs and Tavish (ESP Institute)), a druggy chugger for late night and dark corners. Rounding off the EP, Yourhighness of Rollerboys & Cocktail D'Amore Records fame straightens the beat and pushes up the tempo of “What What What” to deliver a proper party stomper. A classic sound of two decades of dance music underground updated for here and now.
