Scott Young - Pad Jacuzzi
Hypnotic, scuffed dancefloor movements, dub-dilated drum workouts & heavy-lidded ambient zones.
Made in Hong Kong before the storm, Manchester and Bristol. White vinyl limited pressing!
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Scott Young’s music traverses a wide sonic palette, encapsulating leftfield dance music, musique concrete, experimental film soundtracks and lush ambient excursions.
Following a noteworthy appearance on Samo DJ’s Born Free imprint, a series of accomplished releases on Discos Capablanca and a mesmeric contribution to the 2019 Opal Tapes compilation ‘Amateur Vampires’, Young returns with his most significant output to date.
Comprised of five tracks that work towards different styles, ‘Ket City’ is intended as an intimate ode to the United Kingdom, and a response to the oppression of algorithmically filtered modernity and the drudgery of work. Diving into hypnotic, artfully fractured dancefloor movements, dub-dilated drum workouts & heavy-lidded ambient zones, ‘Ket City’ is a diverse prospect that nevertheless reveals the execution of a unique signature. Scott Young - Post Peace
'Peace is where the real chaos begins…..we've been "normalised" for so long' (SY) An entanglement of sound, embodying euphony and noise, control and disorder. The conventional practice of producing and listening to music often tends to conceal and immobilise the multiplicity, the deviations, and the more unusual aspects of acoustic phenomena, in order to preserve an economical artistic perception. But what if we were to fuel spontaneity and embrace a pluralistic vision, by accepting the impossibility of absolute creative competency? Perhaps we would produce material that not only confronts the prospect of failure but actively accommodates it, as a viable aesthetic framework. dScott Young's work is an attempt to unlearn certain 'normalized' approaches to sound, representing a jolt to the system, a wild construction of invention and misdirection, one that reconnects us with the value of disarrangement. The non-hierarchical layering of sound and image on 'Post Peace' defies linearity and rationality. On the collaborative composition 'Tuck', written with Manchester based artist Joe Beedles, the two create music in reverse, inspired by a fictitious review written about the self-same piece. This sense of freeform originality is mirrored by the intimate portraits that Italo-Australian visual artist Rebecca Salvadori has produced for the artwork. A series of autonomous forms that transcend straightforward classification. Unerringly raw yet mature, Young's music evolves as an organic cycle, encompassing spry, cerebral, dub-inflected dynamics. Full of duality and enterprise, never conclusive. On 'Post Peace', there's freedom in forgetting what you know.

scott young - M.O.E.I.
Debut single for this hi-tech low-life straight from the slums of Hong Kong. The music of Scott Young is much like the city itself, intense and claustrophobic on one hand, dreamy and cinematic on the other. These tracks were made in what he calls the "spaceshuttle" energized by late night noodles under the shimmering neon signs.

Recorded a decade ago in a former sauna room over the infamous and ill fated Stattbad club in Berlin with the genius of Satch Hoyt on all kind of percussions and the perfect no wave touch of James Ausfahrt on sax, this Oklo Gabon & Capablanca production was originally submitted then to certain label which rejected it for being "not catchy enough". The track was dismissed and forgotten until recently, when Capablanca re-found it on his drive looking for unreleased material, played it to Marc PiNol who instantly loved it and offered himself to remix it, resulting in perhaps his most sophisticated remix to date (it does still rips dancefloors). On the AA side, the original jam proves the initial rejection a foul mistake, and stands the test of time as a clear winner with an irresistible dislocated groove, not so veiled but freshly reinterpreted NY Noise references and its urgency and raw appeal, exuding charisma and originality. A one day band crafting a forgotten post punk hit you can dance to. Sleeve art originally RISO printed and scanned by Dominic Brucia.

The second installment from the Lap Top Less Dance trilogy. Capablanca's DIY psychedelic industrial disco 'exorcism de style' gets revisioned here by YPY transmuting Top Less into a lisergic overdose, Alessandro Adriani, whose mean mechanic stomper version takes Flores Feias collab by the hand (chained) to a skinhead dark room, and Lipelis' magic wand converts Lap Dance into a Russian bathhouse sex-o-ddisey weirdo monster hit.

REPRESS ALERT!! Discos Capablanca return with a record from the mysterious Detroit-based Sharif Laffrey (we know little more than his place of birth, and that he likes to ride his bike and warm weather) who brings the heat on the Turn It Up 12". Recorded in Detroit in the late 80s and released on a cassette tape compilation in 1988, the original "Turn It Up" is a long forgotten gem from the period when Electro was beginning to morph and mutate into nascent forms of Techno. Excavated by Hugo Capablanca's label, the track is presented in an edited version that stays true to the original and complemented by an Acid Dub Not Dub version that implements plenty of deranged 303 action.

Georgy Oilovich left the dinner, disturbed and agitated. Old Believer contained a note of reproach at his heart inactivity. Having spent himself somewhat and got rather irritable, he turned from some foreign odopters to home - bred nihilists and socialists, and ended by flying into a passion. He seized a large rolleo, and beatling it in half over his krambambully plate, in the manner of the stylish bryanskian cafe ""Transe-Croques"", announced that he would tear limb from limb, reduce to ashes, all those who objected to anybody or to anything! These were his very words. ""It is Hugh time! Hugh time, ????!"" Meanwhile, the Serbian prince, the beloved K.F.Ingram was assassinated by some rexers in Belgrade

sharif laffrey - Always (KHolio mix)
This is Sharif Laffrey's epic masterpiece. Sharif Laffrey has been playing all over the place for 20 long hard years. Born in Detroit, Michigan - he's worked on The Line & at Submerge, toured Asia with Juan Atkins and once had to chase a grown man through the streets at night after the man crawled into his living room through an open window. A*He* was also once chased by a man with a knife. AAn active member in Detroit's early rave scene he still lives with the fear that one day someone will develop the 8mm film that was taken during some of those nights and put it on youtube. Sharif remembers booking all international gigs exclusively with something he calls a "Fax Machine" - AHe says there was "no internet" then. AHe also had a beeper (pager) and drove a Trans-Am. ANot ironically. "I like Acid House." Sharif Laffrey realeased TURN IT UP on Discos Capablanca to massive praise, he is dealing with The Fame.

rogue mecanique - Can I Say
After a splendid, sought after 12? on Pyramids Of Mars, an already expensive edits split Ep with Red Axes and his highly original and acclaimed self released debut album ?Don?t touch my sister? Rouge Mecanique delivers a stone cold classic Ep for Discos Capablanca. The psychedelic steady muscle of ?All Will Be Changed? aims to destroy visionary dance floors. ?Sans Scrupules? is the most surprising acid banger you will likely hear this year. ?Ampedusa / Xaver? defies description and its mutant sound could evoque ecstatic early minimal house references, kraut and concrete music. ?Can I say? is simply put the most elegant, languid way to say goodbye to an Ep that exudes sheer brilliance and character. Housed in hand silkscreened sleeves with art by Capablanca. Timeless applies here.

Keita Sano - The Keita Sano Ep: Discos Capablanca is proud to present the definitive Keita Sano collection. After months of listening to demos, label and artist came up with a tight selection of tracks that represent at its best the Keita Sano sound and simultaneously have the potential to slay the bravest dancefloors. With a clear flair for industrial and raw sounds but not forgetting his House influences, This EP should be one that establishes this young Japanese producer as a consolidated artist.

Late 2008 Discos Capablanca invited Eric D. Clark and Traxx (Nation) to dj at a label party. Eric ended up singing live over Traxx' beats. Doing so 'In a daze', originally an unreleased instrumental by Traxx and Beau Wanzer, evolved into the final version you hear here, combining 808 sounds and a passionate vocal delivery, with the rough and gritty edges still intact.
