Hibernation is at an end: it's 2023 and Aniara Recordings are back. Dorisburg delivers the first of three new Aniara 12" releases. A-side "Voices" continues right where the Swedish label left off with its signature sound in 2019: 9 minutes of evocative minimalism that's as entrancing as it gets. On the flip side we find "Skulptur 7", a haunting, atmospheric dancefloor cut in the inimitable style of Dorisburg. More

Warsaw-based Bartosz Kruczynski returns as Earth Trax to Phonica’s main label, following on from last year’s well received ‘L’Avventura’ 12”, this time in collaboration with regular production partner Newborn Jr.
The pair have created a string of brilliant records together, such as ‘Sax & Flute’ on Rhythm Section, ‘Mirage’ on Les Yeux Orange and ‘If You’ on Shall Not Fade. Bartosz also has a growing solo discography under his own name, along with a variety of aliases such as The Phantom, Pejzaz, and of course; Earth Trax.
The A side here leads with the title track ‘Truth’, in which rose-tinted reminiscences of the golden early 90s era of House music echo, with dubbed out diva vocals cascading over wide snares, 303 acid lines and that almighty bassline, appearing through shimmering delays and reverbs in a vision of bygone nights at the Hacienda or Shelleys. Next up is the ‘Back Alley mix’ or a traditional dub mix - everything you need from the main mix but less vocal and more plays on THAT bassline with dub effects.
On the flip, as its title suggests, ‘Old Way, New Way’ bridges the gap, combing the same bassline driven Chicago house stylings with the deep new age textures that have characterised previous releases from the pair, flutes and pads floating sweetly above jacking drum grooves, reminiscent of mid-90s Italo House. Finally, ‘And Then’ fulfils the transformation, with ethereal late night pads enveloping a more lofi rhythm section and more flute for a more subtle, end of night Don Carlos ‘Alone’ feel. More

Dorisburg returns to Boss records with a high quality tight modern club release as we would expect from him!. On the A-side 'Internet Tension', he weaves an augmented and hypnotic sonic fabric. Straight forward grooves merged with enigmatic melodies that leads your mind to abandoned server rooms and haunted programming code. A more elaborated rhythm is what hits you at the flipside with 'Rytm804'. Spacey and percussive drumming paired with lamenting bells and emotive harmonies constitute a hymn that's otherworldly. Swedish label Aniara Recordings brings you deep, dirty and slow house & techno from the northern hemisphere. Gothenburg duo Genius of Time is giving us a fresh take on what modern house music can be in the roaring 10's. On the label side is Same Old Place, a very well-crafted track that builds slowly but surely through a rolling groove, until it drops into the void where a loving and soothing vocal calls you back into an embrace of spine-tingling piano stabs. Goosebumps every time! Tight Genes on the info side plays the same game, starting out in a darker shade with a relentless bassline, and as suddenly as the floor falls out from under your feet, a distant uplifting melody rises up as a bumping bassline drops in, unfolding into an uplifting oldschool house burner.
