Chicago pioneer DJ Skull steps up for the latest Bass Culture release bringing that original energy as only a native of the Windy City can do. After remixing ‘Houdini’ by D’Julz earlier this year it’s an honour to welcome DJ Skull back to the label for his debut EP. Skull’s depth of experience dates back the mideighties when he began to play house music when he was just 10 years old. Fast forward to 2018 and he’s still deeply involved with the music, keeping the passion alive and traveling across the world to spread the house music gospel. On this threetrack EP he brings the funk, undiluted and fresh with chunky bass, crisp beats and hints of acid coming through.On the Aside we have ‘Powered Funk’, a delightful cut with a laid back groove and a contagious rhythm that gets under your skin immediately. The beats skip along with precision, keeping the energy levels high while the low end keeps your hips swinging and head nodding. The main melody is uplifting and evolves into a symphony of positive vibrations. Flip the record over and side B kicks off with ‘Bopping’, a pianoled jam with the keys working in tandem with the gentle flutter of a flute and a jazzy double bass providing the heart and soul of the cut. Skull rolls this one out masterfully, with gentle progression and non stop energy throughout. Finally, we have the aptlynamed ‘Aseed’, a 303inspired track which uses that infamous acidsound to great effect. The low end rumbles along purposefully, with crisp 4x4 beats pushing things forward and that irresistable acid riff inducing the listener into a state of hypnosis. Ron 'DJ Skull' Maney is a legend. 'NRG Music' dropped in 1991 on Chicago's Saber label and cemented his rep as one to watch over the coming years. One of Chicago's new wave of producers with a fierce style and original sound. The original press of 'NRG Music' was super lo-fi and that suited Maney's sound. His blend of jacking box jams, deep pads, porno samples and nasty ass acid lines all complement each other on what is one of the era's most unique EP's. Robert Witschakowski-Jockel founded the project The Exaltics in 2006 as well as the electro/ techno label SolarOneMusic with his long term friend Nico Jagiella. Killer deep space electro techno on Solar One Music!!! Feeling inspired by the journey into space, SolarOneMusic has been working hard to create their own Hubble Telescope Series, which captures the feeling of space exploration through different experimental dance-floor tracks. As a homage to the Hubble Telescope and all the great scientists and engineers at the NASA and ESA and each part of the series comes with a cover print picture taken by the Hubble Telescope. The series consists of 3 releases featuring E.R.P., Heinrich Mueller, Rudolph Klorzeiger, The Exaltics, Robert Heise, Crotaphytus and Luxus Varta. Featured for the first part of the series, is the talented artist Emeric Di Paolo aka Luxus Varta including a stellar collab with Paris the Black FU!!! A superb spacey, atmospheric sound bed with a incomparable, hypnotic voice from Paris The Black FU. "Kuft" the first track of this release sounds like a space trip to another galaxy with his pulsating bassline and drexciyan soundscapes. "Ieloh" has a super warm melody with contrasting futuristic cracking sounds. Breigs is a twinkling sound bombardment with a mysterious voice inside.
