Growing up in the 80’s opened doors to the imagination. Like many of us, I watched a lot of music videos just when cable television was on the rise. It introduced me to a new way of storytelling – and because of that, I’ve always liked the idea of cinematic concepts and visual movement.” Ron Trent’s 30+ year oeuvre has encompassed many genres of dance music with a signature, cinematic sound – organic, powerful, and emotive. His new EP WARM treads surprising territories, which to the listener may encompass unexpected influences, while maintaining that sense of space and narrative.
Balearic opener On A Journey feels equal parts Cluster and Yo La Tengo, with cosmic guitars and elastic bass entwining around a strutting drum line, while closer Exhale is a slow, heavy number with New Age and soft rock overtones, pairing natural percussion with subdued bass and deep, emotive guitar. Night Ride has the most familiar sound to listeners – those piano lines, synths, chord progressions, and earthy vocal refrains and percussion – sounding like a long lost production finally seeing the light of day.

With his roots in Assam, northeast India, and his hustle now based in Brooklyn, the psychedelic soul-savant known as jitwam. will officially drop his second album on the Copenhagen-based label Tartelet Records in May 2019. To mark its release, a music video to the album's opener "busstop" was shot in the exhilarating city of Mumbai across three days. HONEYCOMB hits the sweet spot between jitwam's work in dance music and efforts as a bandleader, connecting people instudio and on-stage. The record encapsulates his diverse upbringing in India and Australia, before living in monasteries in Thailand, orphanages in South Africa, and finally the US, where he currently resides. On jitwam's journey, he's worn several musical faces that all highlight soulful sounds within the world of psychedelic indie rock, the hip-hop realm, and underground house music These sounds and musical identities are apparent in his 12-track album of broken microphone blues, heartfelt vocals, and smooth assorted instrumentation. For their second LP ‘Elios’ on Periodica Records, musical collective “Parbleu” - led by Andres Balbucea and Andrea De Fazio - reach towards realms both astral and ancient to present a solar sonic suite of sky-seeking exotica inspired by the mythological adventures of Helios. Elemental grooves anchor textures of cosmic magic and faraway fantasy, wherein panoramic conga and bongo displays lead to limbo line hysteria and fat-bottomed bass grooves slide through layers of galactic grease. Phaser riffs and flangers arps fly in unison, lyrical runs dart and dash through flourishes of baroque Turkish psychedelia, and as moonbeam lasers fire over thrilling balearic escapes, Iberian reeds dance joyously amidst jangling six-string sunstrokes.

Info: It's not often that silly, boyish dreams come true. But, if you take a closer look at our past 12 months, dreams seem to come true every other day. We've had a great year with releases on such great labels and had the opportunity to play our music all over the world and we've enjoyed every minute of this musical rollercoaster. And today, we've got another dream that's turning into reality: We're starting our own label. This is Heist Recordings, and you're looking at our very first release. We're extremely proud to share this two track EP of our own music with you and we hope you'll like it as much as we do. The break up is a track that checks all the boxes of the signature DS sound. An infectious set of airy chords, a bumpy bass-line and a lush female vocal give the track that feeling that bridges everything we love about the house from back in the days with the things that get everyone excited today. The make up is a deeper track, but still a genuine house tune, with some repetitive almost hypnotic vocals and stabs and of course, a pumping groove. You'll lose track of everything halfway through the break, but as soon as the beat kicks in, you know its business time. This is just the first step. Enjoy it, and be sure to keep an eye out for more of Heist in the near future.

The make up is a deeper track, but still a genuine house tune, with some repetitive almost hypnotic vocals and stabs and of course, a pumping groove. You'll lose track of everything halfway through the break, but as soon as the beat kicks in, you know its business time. This is just the first step. Enjoy it, and be sure to keep an eye out for more of Heist in the near future.
