Lyra Pi from DeWalta is a longplayer with 5 synthesizer and score-like modern ambient works that mark the first release of a new series by Meander. The Meander Horizon Pi Series is a departure from the labels well known dancefloor releases.
This record is also the second part of the complementary Lyra album-project. The full album contains a double LP (Lyra) on Meander as well as this Lyra Pi LP.
The 180 gram vinyl record comes in a special package, containing a handmade see-through screen-printed PVC sleeve, plus an insert card with artwork. Combined with the separately available Lyra double LP customers can create a 3LP box set.
Lyra is a star-constellation in the northern hemisphere which is highest in the midnight sky in the early summer months. It contains one of the brightest stars in the sky - Vega. Many of the songs on this album were produced during these warm and gentle months during an inspirational creative time in Portugal.
In Greek mythology, Lyra represents the Lyre of Orpheus, Apollo’s son. Made by Hermes from a tortoise-shell, it was given to Apollo who then passed it along to Orpheus. It is said to be the first music instrument ever made.

As much as it´s fun to read a personal text, it´s a pain for the artist himself (or at least for me) to write or say something about my music. Don't get me wrong, i like these personal texts. They support the release in a nice way, but having to talk about my music or style always seems awkward and it happens too much in interviews anyway. So one thing is for sure: i am not going to explain my music, my "style", tag it with some kind of genre or give an idea or explanation with words, what kind of music it is or how it sounds. If you want to get an idea, simply listen to the Tracks.
Now. Since i won't be talking about music, I thought I´d give you a brief idea of what was going on in my brain and what I was thinking, reading and researching lately about the world, the human thought, physical, nonphysical and metaphysical things. This record, the "Thinkers EP" was heavily inspired by these thoughts and research.
I stumbled upon an essay about metaphysics, which caught my interest so i started researching. Metaphysics looks at the things behind ("meta") the physical appearance and its relationship to the non-physical appearance. It asks questions about existence, objects and beings and their properties, about time and space, cause and effect as well as possibility.
During the time i was working on this music i especially read about Plato and his approach to metaphysics. He, as Socrates student started to implemented and respect the physical world in philosophy, other then Socrates who said everything physical is irrelevant and only a shadow of an ideal, "the perfect" (non-physical).

Funky and laid back Jazz constructed house tracks with spacy dimension by DeWalta.Both tracks Malbec and Syrah will bring you far on the dancefloor like a good wine does with its fine and deep flavours of fruits and whatever it can tell about the history of its ground. David Koch under his artist name DeWalta persuades first on the A side with Malbec. A dry clap introduces to the affair, short followed by a kick and a driving funky deep baseline which could be far enough to convince any dj fan of minimal hypnotic loops. Having set up that strong base, he plays then carefully some light but brillant layers of jazzy arrangements. Santé! Syrah, follows up in a more trippy way performing a jazzy and elegant journey which destination is certainly somewhere in the cosmos.

Label co-owner DeWalta returns back to Meander after his latest releases on Vakant and Cynosure - These three personal tracks, were carefully mastered and cut by Stefan Betke aka Pole at Scape Mastering. The first track „Keep On“ comes with characteristic vocals by jazz-singer Judith Ahrends. Just keep on moving! Then the extended Keep On dub mix concentrates on pure grooves and will work its magic on a good soundsystem. „Sauvignon“ on the flipside wanders to higher emotional states, comes with a warm and tricky house rhythm, that makes you swing and shake. Pure atmosphere and presence. Everything was written, played and produced by DeWalta in his studio in Berlin. This production emphasizes DeWalta s own musical signature as it gives you more depth and sound design than just another simple, dancefloor track. These tracks have already been played in the clubs for a while with excitement from big names in the scene. Now it all comes on vinyl with beautiful sleeve artwork. Enjoy! Back on his motherlabel with great & unusual music and we dare to say that it is our favorite release of him so far... "Saluki" starts straight with a crafty bass driven smooth rocket and build it's self up alongside a guiding piano loop to reach very atmospheric frictions. Soft choir singing here and there, various dub sounds brushing in the space, bringing all sound aficionados into a beautiful ride. DeWalta's crispy rhythms are eventually fading out into melancholic and moving Detroitish strings, to complete this unique piece of music. "Shagya" on the flipside is a self-developing carnevalesque odyssey. It's such a profound & delicious kickdrum, tightened with an extraordinary bass presence, it's simply irresistible not to groove happily on that one. The album consists of two individually available parts: a double LP (Lyra) with 6 tracks on Meander as well as a single LP (Lyra Pi) with 5 synth and ambient works. The Ambient-Part launches a new Meander Horizon Pi series-- a departure from Meander’s well known dancefloor releases.
Lyra is by far DeWaltas most extensive and refined project to date. With 11 exclusive songs, a total running time of over 100 minutes - plus a collaboration with long time friend and Meander co-owner Fabian Geimer-Lorusso aka. Jupiter - it marks a new beginning of ambient and score-like modern electronic music works as well as the continuation of his inspired intellectual-emotional approach to dance music.
Lyra is a star-constellation in the northern hemisphere which is highest in the midnight sky in the early summer months. It contains one of the brightest stars in the sky - Vega. Many of the songs on this album were produced in these warm and gentle months during an inspirational creative time in Portugal.
In Greek mythology, Lyra represents the Lyre of Orpheus, Apollo’s son. Made by Hermes from a tortoise-shell, it was given to Apollo who then passed it along to Orpheus. It is said to be the first music instrument ever made.

Coeo have been travelling in Japan and discovered the magic of City Pop: That Japanese Disco movement of the 1980ies. Back then there were amazing dance tracks coming out of Japan. Some with Japanese lyrics others with American vocals. Often so perfectly played and recorded that it was hard to tell if the music came out of NYC basement studios or for real Asiatic studio musicians. Coeo found a lot of rare jams and did edits for their DJ sets. As at the Toy Tonics office everybody is always searching for the rare and unknown the crew was totally excited. And so the decision was made quickly: Let’s put out a few of these rare jams & edits. Here they are.

Coeo have been travelling in Japan and discovered the magic of City Pop: That Japanese Disco movement of the 1980ies. Back then there were amazing dance tracks coming out of Japan. Some with Japanese lyrics others with American vocals. Often so perfectly played and recorded that it was hard to tell if the music came out of NYC basement studios or for real Asiatic studio musicians. Coeo found a lot of rare jams and did edits for their DJ sets. As at the Toy Tonics office everybody is always searching for the rare and unknown the crew was totally excited. And so the decision was made quickly: Let’s put out a few of these rare jams & edits. Here they are.

Woo York - supreme electronic music duo make their debut on Watergate Records.
The Ukrainian duo have a watertight reputation for crafting stunning dancefloor compositions, having
released music on Life And Death, Soma, Dystopian, Drumcode and Afterlife, the latter home to their
critically acclaimed 2018 album ‘Chasing the Dream’. Their appearances at Watergate have been numerous
over the years, making them an obvious choice to join the label family.
Their Watergate Records debut maiden offering is sparkling. The title track begins as a chugging key-laden
cut before a stirring folky melody rises to the fore with beautiful intent. With its unique sonic signature,
‘Samum’ will stand out in any set. Woo York show a new side of their outstanding musical talent “For this
release we wanted to push boundaries of the melodic techno sound. For Samum we have worked with a
bag pipe, one of the oldest instruments to give the track an almost „housy" note.”
The accompanier is ‘Prophet’, an emotional slice of dance music, hopeful and melancholic in equal doses,
this is custom made for big dancefloor moments.
Accompanying the package are remixes of ‘Samum’ by fellow Ukrainian producer and live act 8Kays, who
turns in a dark and shimmering re-rub, not losing any of the original’s power. Meanwhile Greek artist
