Percebes starts 2021 by releasing the label honcho’s brand new “Gestures Of Release” LP: a highly personalised universe that manages to display diversity whilst retaining a unique sense of coherence. An offering of tracks that reflect the producer’s unique take on languages he knows well: deep, crunchy disco house (“Miles Away”), dreamy downtempo (“Suave”) and mellow freestyle funk (“Membrana”). Of course there are also plenty of irresistible bumping dance floor moments of classic inspiration (“Gestures Of Release”, “Clone Forge” and the bass heavy “Time Apart”).
Guests include funk band Thunder & Co, legendary junglist producer AL:X, fellow Percebes founder Hélder Russo and Chicago new school gold medalist Andrew “Change Request” Emil. The quality in production, mixing and mastering is second to none. It’s an LP that plays and sounds as close to a maxi single as physically possible! Perfectly crafted tracks that a DJ can use on both dance floors and cooler settings alike, but also, an album that any music lover can enjoy on a proper turntable. Quoting Vito Corleone, it’s “an offer you can’t refuse”.
The vinyl comes with bonus music in its digital counterpart (includes full length album with four extra tracks as a free download with purchase). Overall, great bang-for-the-buck pack full of future classics, as usual with Percebes so far. “Gestures Of Release” will be out in April 2021. More

Ka§par, - Ode to the Ancients
You're about to feel (again) why every record Ka§par does for Groovement takes a while to be released. Simply because special things need time to emerge. After Whatchadoo's underground buzz he's been intensely working in the studio, readying his most mature record yet. Inspired by the great masters and their legacy, Ka§par pushes himself towards the future with his own galactic sound palette. Ode to the ancients EP is certainly his most accomplished, consistent and authorial work to date. A side opens with the multi layered sonic deepness of 'Ode to the ancients', a transcendental journey through time - ancient to future - that resonates much of the essence of Ka§par's working ethos. A very complex piece of music embodied in a strong feeling of togetherness and universal highness. A moment of creation where simplicity unfolds if we let the mind travel through space. Second offering (A2 - Twin Sparkle) keeps the same cosmological path but with a more energetic and sophisticated approach. A complete mind, body and soul experience. B side starts with Glasgow best. Carlos Nilmmns aka Ross McMillan from Solab fame builds up a future classic, reworking the elegant 'Able to find' original that shows one of the many Ka§par's hidden facets. Capturing textures from Chicago and Detroit with a touch of Glasgow, Ross delivers an amazing piano house roller that already grabbed Jus-Ed's attention. We are lucky and proud of this. Then comes the original... a beautiful post-dubstep track showcasing why Ka§par's music has no categories and will always be striving to break established patterns. After 'Whatchadoo's impact 'Ode to the ancients' puts the focus on the right place. Music is not about quantity more about passion and talent. Ka§par has both!

SofaTalk - Like a MagPie (Kaidi Tatham Remix)
Tracklist
A1. Exercices de Style A2. Telepathic Flute A3. The Hope Suite B1. Like a MagPie B2. Like a MagPie (Kaidi Tatham Remix)
Shortinfo:
Rome based artist SofaTalk draws his inspiration from a melting pot of genres, including disco, funk, neosoul, boogie, broken beat and future jazz. He combines these classic influences with contemporary electronic sounds to form a truely unique style of production. He's also the founder of Cognitiva Records and a sought-after selector.
For this release he creates four deep and laid back original tracks. London-based veteran Kaidi Tatham adds the icing on the cake with a signature broken beat remix.
Exercices de Style opens the record on a smooth vibe with beautiful Rhodes pieces, and complex rhythms. On Telepathic Flute, as the title suggests, a flute lights up the mood, with the help of a saxophone and a guitar. The A side's third track, entitled The Hope Suite, moves towards a more mysterious atmosphere, built up by several tension moments with subtle releases.
The B side consists of two versions of a track called Like a Magpie. SofaTalk's original version combines guitar, bass, trumpet, saxophone, flute, piano chords and drums for a full jazz house session. On the remix, Kaidi Tatham gives the original a funky twist by extending the guitar part, then adding his unique rolling drums and brilliant keyboard improvisations.

A1. Nothing In The City A2. Polyphonic Mind B1. Livetrackrecording (Dubby) B2. #1stereo (Analog Jam)
Shortinfo:
Parisian label Escapade launches with a four-track 12" by Yuri Shulgin. The Russian artist first appeared in 2010 under the Mistanomista moniker on the Italian label Black Sunshine. He later released three records under his real name, first on Anton Zap's Ethereal Sound, then on Black Wall and finally on Modernista.
Yuri's productions mix jazzy and funky vibes with electronic elements, which inevitably calls to mind the classic Detroit house sound. They have a warm and authentic feeling to them, thanks to his bass, guitar and keys abilities. Poducers such as Vakula have relied on his instrumentalist skills, but on Polyphonic Mind it is his turn to call on other musicians.
'Nothing In The City' features his friend Yuri Smirnov on the alto saxophone and kicks off this release on a laid back groove, which becomes more energetic in the second half of the track. Trumpet player Victor Netesov a.k.a. Humsafar joins them on 'Polyphonic Mind' for a full jazzy session. On the B side, Shulgin reveals his experimental facet with two jams using synths and delays. 'Livetrackrecording (Dubby)' leans into hypnotic territory while '#1stereo (Analog Jam)' rounds up the record with dreamy explorations.
