B1. config4 05:54 min
Side B
B1: config5 05:06 min
B2. config2 04:44 min
B3. Court 04:45 min
SHORT INFO:
J. Alberts “config” EP for Couldn’t Care More is one more step into his very own microcosm of electronic music wizadry: There is the flickering groove of “Armor”, myriads of cut-up sonic pieces morphed into a glorious track somewhere next to Techno and House and there’s the distorted quiet beauty of slowly breathing “config4”, ambientesque but filled with tension like Huerco S does it. There are the holographic breakbeats of “config5”, with voice samples and synth stabs melted in New Yorks fiercest heat and there’s the sped-up ambient groove of ghostly “config2”. The last track “Court” sums it up, a breathless groove mutation topped by spheric keyboard sounds. J. Albert gets it all together and he does it with a quite uncanny certainty. A different level.

Tracklist 12”:
A1. Don’t Hide It
A2. Xtra Sauce
B1. Vista
Short info:
As owner and curator of the Exotic Dance Records label , J. Albert has released a steady handful of projects on his Brooklyn based imprint , as well as showcasing new music from Deejay Xanax and
Person Of Interest . Add to that, recent releases on the 1080p label and Black Opal , and J. Albert is fast making a mark on the scene for his raw and undiluted deep fusion of house, techno and jazzy vibes.
His debut EP for Hypercolour opens up with “Don’t Hide It” ; a bumpin’ and jazzy flavoured house cut, resplendent with rolling snare drums and warm stabs, a sampled double bass riff and choppy vocal refrains
“Xtra Sauce” is another stellar house track, fans of the Ron Trent/Prescription Chicago sound will instantly find an affection here with the rolling drums and soft keys, all pushed along at an energetic pace, whilst “Vista” finds J. Albert in more playful mode, carving out a 10 minute jackin’ underground house vibe that cuts raw and hypnotising. More

"I met Marcell at a gig I played at Karlstorbahnhof in Heidelberg earlier this year, he was serving beers behind the bar all night, it was a fun but not so busy party. The club shut the doors early and we were holed up in this old train station-come-club having a few drinks into the early hours. We sat down, chewed the fat and bonded over Jungle (and UK music in general). Marcell's buddy Phillip was insistent on me checking out his tunes through a small little bluetooth speaker!!! and these sorts of scenarios never quite play out how you'd like them too right?! This one did!" Patrick Conway
