Jacek Sienkiewicz - Mustang (Tobias. Remix)
Tracklist:
A SU17
B1 Mustang
B2 Mustang (Tobias. Remix)
Info:
Time for a little Recognition… Pets welcome a true Polish techno founding father to the fold: Jacek Sienkiewicz.
DJ since the early 90s, producer since the late 90s and one of the earliest artists to stamp their country down on the techno map; Jacek was one of the first Polish producers to be signed by the likes of Trapez, Cocoon and Klang and laid down the foundations for the likes of Pets founders Catz N Dogz several years later when they emerged as 3 Channels. OG status confirmed, he’s remained just as consistent as he is influential. This single is proof: ‘SU17’ is a bubbling sine cauldron that starts with a simmer but builds to a boil with its ever-morphing, lava-like flow. Expert drum momentum and sudden layers of instrumental help to create a fluid three-track-in-one experience that spellbinds you crowd for the entire eight minutes without realising.
‘Mustang’ is a cascading synth odyssey that gently rises and falls like an Escher looped staircase. Gradually building in momentum with more of Jacek’s signature hypnosis flare, it’s not until the drums double up with an almost live-style visceral feel that you realise just how high Jacek’s taken you. It
comes complete with a star-lit switch from Berlin’s serial innovator Tobias, where the synths are deftly refocused and a whole layer of orchestral delight are layered within. The perfect way to follow up last summer’s reissue of his 2002 track ‘Case Filter’ on ‘Friends Of Pets Part 3’, Jacek and Pets feedback loop of roots, inspiration and future is beginning to warm up… More

The sun, kissing the forehead through half-closed blinds; the night, coming uninvited through a
windowpane like a damp, sticky shroud. Light and darkness, solid foundations and elusive glimpses
of parallel realities. Armies of digital insects - taken aback by warmth of one brave heart, 90s chillout
rooms updated for todays vast and desolated space full of fragile souls desperate in their look for
any kind of communion; “artificial intelligence” after three decades of wandering, trying to finally
find a helping hand, solace and peace. Shimmer and shine. Welcome to “Pristine”, a new recording
from the mind of Jacek Sienkiewicz.
For the past years Jacek has been escaping his image of relentless producer and performer of
driving, multi-layered club music. His most recent works include deep ambient records, abstract
electro-acoustic experiments, and super smart, stripped-down yet incredibly complex
contemporary electronica. The last few records, mostly on his own label Recognition include albums
with Max Loderbauer and Atom™, reinterpretations of works by Bogdan Mazurek of the legendary
Polish Radio Experimental Studio, scores for radio plays and last year’s massively overlooked
“Krasz”, music for theatrical performance of Ballard’s/Cronenberg’s “Crash”.
“Pristine”, a labour of love, is at times abstract and atonal, at times breathtakingly beautiful and
tender.
8 tracks written and performed in Jacek’s unmistakable, singular style, and covering many grounds -
abstract, electronic forms, neo-classical wonders, super tight compositions and freeform, jazz-like
improvisations and stripped-down rhythms. Different moods, machine-translated and reverseengineered in a variety of recording locations, make up this exceptional record.
Shimmer and shine, immerse and enjoy.
Co-Financed By The Minister Of Culture And National Heritage of Poland.

jacek sienkiewicz - TRAKER
Tracklist 12":
A. LIGHTIN
B. TRAKER
Short Info:
Most recently Jacek Sienkiewicz had been mainly preoccupied with with experimental music - his explorations of outer limits of sound resulted in 3 albums released already in 2019, with two more to follow by the end of the year. So, It was good and perhaps refreshing to hear his surprising return to the dancefloor with "Lightin", an unexpected Summer afterparty anthem released digitally in June. By popular demand, it's now released on vinyl in its full, 11+ minutes glory. Lightweight, gentle and tuneful, propelled by a syncopated rhythm, it rolls like a steam engine taking you to your favourite holiday destination. Side B brings us another new track - "Tracker" is definitely built for clubs and designed for peak time moments, be it in a cramped, dark basement or a big room at a festival. This EP is Jacek's first new club-oriented record on his Recognition label since 2016's "Hideland" - and a teaser for an all-new album, due next year.

IMOW, or “In My Own Wave” - Atmospheric, cinematic, stirring and utterly engaging, this is surely Sienkiewicz’s most personal work to date and very possibly his best!
Tracklist:
A1 short film

A4 no8
B1 IMOW
B2 museum
B3 flock
B4 me
Info:
IMOW, or “In My Own Wave” is a moody record. Although overtly experimental in form, it’s quite different
to Sienkiewicz’s abstract, improvisational albums recorded with Max Loderbauer or AtomTM.
Clocking in only 35 minutes and comprising of eight tracks, “IMOW” is several years of work distilled
into a dense, concise whole.
Atmospheric, cinematic, stirring and utterly engaging, this is surely Sienkiewicz’s most personal work
to date and very possibly his best: his constant struggle to find a perfect balance of flesh and machine,
or to translate human emotions to sound by means of a modern studio is manifested here in its purest,
most consistent and, surprisingly, very accessible form. From subtle drones, through chants and
rhythms echoing in mountainous chambers, to innumerable insect-like sounds and tiny details, it’s an
encephalogram recorded to tape (or disk). With all its complexity, it’s not overwhelming: the meticulously
constructed compositions leave both space for the sounds to breathe, and for the listener to
fully experience it, without being bored, tired, wishing for less or being hungry for more. And there’s
beauty in this record, and hope - in the world of overpowering darkness and constant noise “IMOW”
feels like a peaceful trip into the untouched nature with all its wonders - offering in equal parts rest,
strength and inspiration. More

Info:
Recognition opens up its archives and invites to a futuristic sentimental journey with respective stages set by the records 9702 (CD version) and 9799 (four exclusive tracks on a vinyl EP). Four tracks from single come from the time of Jacek Sienkiewicz's first record (Recognition CD). These earliest recordings openly refer to a formula and rhythmical density of Detroit Techno, although end result of this confrontation turns out to be surprisingly "separate" and individualistic. In turn, 9702 album contains a set of varied tracks recorded withing five years after Warsaw label's launch and its first release. Extended compositions and short improvised sound notes resemble eccentric propositions of such labels as (early) Warp or Rephlex, standing next to melancholy-saturated minimalistic techno and abstract collage structures which prove out to share many characteristics of clicks'n'cuts movement of the second half of the 1990s. Usage of human voice samples is an outstanding feature of many of these archive materials. Entirety of mastered-anew content encompassing both records, contains all principal trademarks which distinguish Jacek Sienkiewicz's creations an his label Recognition - utmost care about depth of sound sphere, experimental inclinations and focus on complex motoric aspect of the rhythmical base. This collection of music from Recognition's first five years, surprising for its freshness and sheer impetus, is a must for all fans of Jacek Sienkiewicz and Polish electronic music of the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries. In connection with publication of yet-unheard tracks, Jacek shares another slice of yet-unknown artistic vision, connecting sound with other media such as image, light and movement. RECOGNITION XX - audio-video performance - comes out in summer as a result of this retrospective look.

Info:
Sound and rhythm are effective means of individual’s self-defence in face of chaotic steamroller of everyday life. Hiding in a familiar yet simultaneously hardly recognisable parallel space does not have to result from the need of escaping the world or nurturing one’s ego. Too many times to mention, music appearing under Recognition imprint served as a peculiar type of a vehicle of survival and a tool for internal transformation.
“Hideland”, new record by Polish electronic music producer Jacek Sienkiewicz is released precisely year after “Drifting”, which largely explored tropes of classical club techno sound. Eight (nine in extended CD version) tracks comprising this album go beyond easy-to-pigeonhole genres, creating a microcosm of utopian sound constructs. Surprisingly unobvious and precisely composed release could be fascinating both for loyal fans and for new listeners looking for threads of experimentalism. It’s another intriguing proposal in Jacek Sienkiewicz’s growing discography, but above all - a laboratory where dreams and artistic visions metamorphose into concrete reality. More

Info:
Instynkt - highly anticipated record released by highly unanticipated duo of two labels Bocian (whose repertoire stretches from freeform noise to
improvised jazz) and Recognition (known for state-of-the-art modern techno sound). Four new tracks by Jacek Sienkiewicz appear both as essence and
antithesis of artist's earlier work, instead confronting listener with hardly categorisable and puzzling form. You can still manage to hear echoes of
electronic music masters (from Autechre to Xenakis) in this material, but Instynkt functions as an autonomous entity, or a sound event provoking
questions rather than attempting to answer them. This proposal, very distinct and floating beyond today's tendencies, will undoubtedly worry pessimists
shedding their tears over end-of-all-aesthetics and music losing its magical aura. It is also quite likely to awaken a need for further exploration in all
listeners open enough - and daring enough.

The new Jacek Scienkiewicz CD Album.
Tracklist CD: 1. Stand Up 2. 130mm 3. 230km 4. Drifting 5. Vagrant Blues 6. No Matter What 7. Mistrz 8. Free Float 9. Sunsetstorm 10. Suppress Your Pressure
Short Info:
Jacek Sienkiewicz is back. “Drifting” is the artist's 5th full-length release and the second one on his Warsaw-based label Recognition since 1999. His records were played and strongly supported by
renowned artists such as Sven Väth and Richie Hawtin; legendary producers like Ricardo Villalobos, Uwe Schmidt and recently, Max Loderbauer collaborated with Jacek. “Drifting” takes its listener on a complex but still accessible journey to a state-of-the-art Techno territory where Carl Craig melodies coexist with stark minimalism of Robert Hood, but they serve only as entry points for further exploration. There is no doubt - Sienkiewicz knows all of his roots yet he
creates signature sound that results from his highly original approach to modern electronic music production. His new album can be seen as a personal diary that Sienkiewicz uses to invite all listeners, no matter what their listening preferences might be, for a deep and unique ride. Constant drift and dislocation creates imaginary landscapes of future unknown. It is a surprise gift in the times of market flood with predictable releases and tasteless hype.
Above all, this album comes both from the soul and the brain and it shouldn't be missed. Every listen is a different adventure. Enjoy.

A Rave History (Original Mix)
B1 Rave History (Life Mix)
B2 Music Manifesto (Credits: vocals by Qzen)
Info:
To know what’s up right now, we must understand what went down in history…
‘Rave History’: Easily one of Catz ‘n Dogz most evocative, classically-informed and ferociously euphoric pieces of work to date, this is a celebration of every black wax brick laid in the foundations of dance music culture. Every hand that was ever raised in sweaty exultation. Every stranger whoever
got hugged on the dancefloor for no reason but pure love for the moment. Every whistle. Every horn. Every damn time.
From its quintessential break to its iconic vocal via its sizzling bass-heavy groove; ‘Rave History’ is the ultimate finale piece, a show-stopping opener or a wild mid-set excursion. It resonates with everything that’s relevant now and everything that’s ever been relevant. Loaded with pure positivity,
this will complement any style of DJ set, any crowd, any age, any country. This is our DNA. For added euphoric stimuli, the Szczecin boys have also thrown in a kickless hype tool in the form of the feel-heavy Life Mix. Choral pads, cascading FX, dramatic one-strike piano notes, splashing
cymbals and that almighty vocal sample that comes with one essential message every single one of us can raise our sweaty hands and hug strangers to: no matter how weird things feel in the world right now, when we’re together with like-minded dancing neighbours, everything is going to be ALL
RIGHT. More

A1 Bullfrogging
A2 Early Doors
B1 Bullfrogging (Mark Henning Remix)
Info:
Time for a little neck bulging, slimy skin hip-slinking summer fun as a true craftsman steps from the
studio shadows: Jay Shepheard, who’s back with a track that’s so infectious if you licked its back
you’d trip for weeks.
Prepare yourselves for ‘Bullfrogging’: wry funk, warmth and humanised technoid soul. Taking a vocal
texture then processing, harmonising and splicing the spawn out of it, Jay’s precision balance of
electronic hustle and anthromorphised action has all the hallmarks for a summer anthem.
‘Early Doors’ follows suit and there’s a massive clue in the title… Soft-focused, warm, rolling and
laced with textured chimes, it’s definitely tailored for those key transitions between warm-up and
second gear. Deep, trippy but coded with a hookiness that grabs rather than soothes, once again it’s
classic Shepheard but with a revitalised 2017 twist. Hey, he didn’t lock himself away in the studio for
twelve months for nothing, right?
Neither did Jay’s long-time friend and neighbour Mark Henning; a man who hasn’t taken on a remix
since the early 2010s. His return to the remix game is as poignant and powerful as Jay’s return to
releases as he removes around 70 percent of the frog and maximises the bullishness of the elements,
creating a relentless tribal slammer of a version that still retains the warmth and soul of Jay’s original.
Two returns to action, three killer tracks, one label you can always count on as your friend and no
frogs harmed during the whole process. We’re pulling out some serious stops here. More

Info:
Welcome to Poland: Another country in the midst of fearful flux; where a huge proportion of the country feel their voice is no longer represented by the government; where raw emotions are being exploited cheaply by media to distract, divert and crudely divide; where there is more of a need than ever for like-minded positive souls to unite without prejudice and work together for a better future. The headlines sound too familiar for many of us in the world. But just as Trump does not represent most people in America and Brexit doesn’t define everyone in Britain, Poland’s right wing government does not exemplify the majority of Polish people. Like all world citizens, our generation and younger are good-minded, thoughtful people who do want to bring down barriers and work together. Their vision is one of inclusion and one of a proud future and how we can improve the lives of our children and grandchildren… Not become
entangled in embittered roots of the past. It’s evident in Poland’s thriving creative cultures from the provocative art of Katarzyna Kozyra to the literature and poetry and films of Wojciech Kuczok. It’s evident in the stark optimist architecture of Daniel Libeskind. It’s evident in Krakow’s thriving club scene and the country’s bubbling pools of electronic music talent. It’s everything Catz N Dogz do: their attitude, their music, their labels, their WOODED festival and, perhaps most importantly, their friends. Not just there to carry you home; friends carry you everywhere. And right here on ‘Friends Of Pets’ Catz N Dogz are carrying their companions’ creativity with the same esteem and pride they host their Polish festival. A cultural statement and powerful showcase of their country’s great thinkers, creators, collaborators and disrupters in electronic music, across 16 tracks – almost all of which is homegrown – we’re treated to the full spectrum. Ranging from blissful smoky beat soul to mischievous relentless rolling techno and all shades of house in between, it’s one of Pets’ most heartfelt homage to realness, togetherness and strength against adversity. Exist to resist but persist to rewind; these are the real Polish headlines and here
are the amazing stories of the beautiful, kind and creative people behind them…
SELTRON 400: AKA Eltron John and SLG’s latest project. Eltron is an incredibly eclectic DJ
who’s renowned throughout Krakow’s best clubs while SLG is a dear friend of the label and
kindred spirit with Catz N Dogz, breaking through around the same time in the early 2000s.
Together their SELTRON 400 project shatters the walls between all shades of rave,
galvanising them for the future with timeless analog machine weight. SLG also appears on
the collection under his real name Lukasz Seliga with a remix of Swedish soulmate Kornél
Kovács.
Adam Port: Born in Poland, based in Berlin, Adam Port needs no introduction. One of the
most consistent and innovative names in the game with releases across the board from
Freerange to Souvenir via his main home Keinemusik, arguably one the most influential
European labels at the moment.
Earth Trax: AKA Bartosz Kruczyñski who’s perhaps most famously known as Ptaki alongside
Jaromir Kamiñski. Together they created ‘Przelot’, one of the best electronic Polish albums
ever made that’s guaranteed to stand the test of time. As a solo artist Earth Trax also has a
great body of work as The Phantom, has been recommended as part of Thump’s top 100
records of 2016 and has a whole stack of releases planned on labels such as Phonica
Records and many more. 4
The Analog Roland Orchestra: Polish-born Michal is a walking orchestra. Conjuring magic
on his collection of rare Roland synths, he’s worked with many acts on many stages. His
passion for Roland has been so strong he’s channelled it into a book: R For Roland, a
compendium of beautifully photographed Roland synths, histories and stories. With releases
on Pokerflat, STEP and Rotary Cocktail Rec, he’s a super sharp producer, too.
Dig deep and share the knowledge: Each of these friends has their own story to tell and their
own sound to share. This is the real Poland. This is the real Pets. This is real electronic
music. We can only be stronger by working together, globally, nationally, friendly…

Jacek Sienkiewicz: The Godfather! Jacek was the first ever Polish techno producer to sign to a big
label and is regarded as one of the most inspiring homegrown talents for all DJs and producers. His
early Cocoon releases are regarded as gamechangers and he remains true to his timeless craft.
‘Case Filter’ is a fine example; previously released on WMF in 2002, it still sounds resonant and
relevant 15 years later. A personal favourite at the Pets HQ.
Universo: Also known as Kixnare who’s renowned for hip-hop breaks and a series of killer beat
albums on U Know Me Records. Now exploring the technoid unknown with deeply layered 4/4
dancefloor soul as Universo, it’s a whole new chapter that resonates deeply with Pets’ core.

architecture of Daniel Libeskind. A cultural statement and powerful showcase of their country’s great thinkers,
creators, collaborators and disrupters in electronic music, across 16 tracks – almost all of which is homegrown – we’re treated to the full spectrum. Ranging from blissful smoky beat soul to mischievous relentless rolling techno and all shades of house in between, it’s one of Pets’ most
heartfelt homage to realness, togetherness and strength against adversity. Exist to resist but persist to rewind; these are the real Polish headlines and here are the amazing stories of the beautiful,
kind and creative people behind them…
Jacek Sienkiewicz: The Godfather!
SELTRON 400: AKA Eltron John and SLG’s latest project. Eltron is an incredibly eclectic DJ who’s
renowned throughout Krakow’s best clubs while SLG is a dear friend of the label and kindred spirit
with Catz N Dogz, breaking through around the same time in the early 2000s. Together their
SELTRON 400 project shatters the walls between all shades of rave, galvanising them for the future
with timeless analog machine weight. SLG also appears on the collection under his real name Lukasz
Seliga with a remix of Swedish soulmate Kornél Kovács.
Dig deep and share the knowledge: Each of these friends has their own story to tell and their own
sound to share. This is the real Poland. This is the real Pets. This is real electronic music. We can
only be stronger by working together, globally, nationally, friendly… More

A1 4 the lovers
A2 Where my girls at B1 blomst
B2 Soulsista (vinyl only)
Info:
This one goes out to all you lovers out there…
With their love of good house and techno brimming over with each release, every day is Valentine’s
Day at Pets HQ. So when Black Loops sent them ‘4 The Lovers’ the label cats (and dogs) knew it
would be a perfect fit for a debut. With its walking bassline, dreamy flurries and sultry spoken
word, ‘4 The Lovers’ melts the stoniest of hearts and sets the scene for the sweet soiree that
follows…
‘Where My Girls At’ continues the racy theme as the Italians-in-Berlin who’ve been building a
smouldering reputation for the last four years on labels such as Toy Tonics, Neovinyl and Gruuv lay
down a persistent kickdrum smooth talk, thumping and bumping as the swooning filtered pads add
layers of allure. ‘Blomst’, meanwhile flutters its come-to-bed eyes with hip-rattling percussive
scratches, a plucked bouncy bassline and blushing chords that climax in style.
Finally we find true romance with ‘Soulsista’. The sonic soulmate you never knew you needed, its
deep dubby bassline slinks and purrs over jacking Chicago-style beats and cosmic weaves, bubbles
and vapour trails wisp and whirr somewhere above you on cloud nine.
Four slices of pristine, pure positivity. We guarantee your own love of good house and techno will be
brimming over by the time you’ve finished listening. Beautiful. More

Info:
Five years deep into the game, all nine lives fully intact: Utrechtian feral feline Larry De Kat prowls
his way onto Pets… And we really don’t need to tell you how purrrrfectly apt this debut union is.
Fresh from launching his own Katnip imprint (and putting the final touches on a hush-hush disco edit
series), Pets have managed to prise four of his finest, broadest creations from his creative claws.
Each one floor-bound, each one backing up the hype he’s enjoyed from the likes of Axel Boman,
Mark E and Laurent Garnier, each one making us feel like cats who got the creamiest of creams…
‘I Know You Can Hear Me’ takes the lead on a more direct tip that you might expect from De Kat.
Big pumps wrapped in a fine vibe balance of Detroit and Parisian house textures, but done with
Larry’s signature dubby, jacking style, it’s the perfect paws-sitive statement of intent.
Slinking deeper into the EP, ‘Naakte Groove’ lives up to its nude name with a lean-but-warm bass
riff that purrs with finesse around a straight-up strutting drum arrangement. So much fun in such a
tight, detailed groove, you’ll want this on loop forever.
‘Amlou’ stalks up behind with dusty, thumping charm. Rolling and scratching like it was 20 years
younger, there’s an innate physicality in the drums that snaps you out when the big disco hook rides
in from nowhere.
Finally we hit ‘She Doesn’t’. The dubbiest groove of the set, all eyes are on that bulbous sub,
rippling synths and precision tuned snare shot. Hypnotic, heavy, unhurried and heads down… These
sounds are fur real. Like all the best stray cats, expect Larry to return to Pets as and when he
pleases. More

A1. Avesys B1. Voschod B2. Landing a Man
Info:
Out with old, in with the bold… Pets prepare us for a fresh new year start with an early-ears peak at what they
have in store for 2017. It starts right here with a techno maestro who – thanks to a deep stash of thoroughbred
beats on Soma, Hypercolour, Echocord and Kontra – shouldn’t require much of an introduction: Roberto Clementi.
Resident at Harmonized – one of Italy’s finest underground club institutions – here we find Roberto analysing his
role at its fullest flex: the range, versatility and subtlety and the almost important need to master all shades of the
night: the ability to set the scene and prepare the countdown, knowing when to play the lead and knowing how to
bring things home with respect to the dancefloor who make the party every single trip.
It begins with ‘Avesys’ in every possible way: its dubby warmth, rippling rhythmic elements and patient percussive
builds (all wrapped up with soft-but-stern insistency), don’t just mark the perfect tone and timbre of an on-point
take off set, but also trigger the whole full-spectrum, deep space EP concept. Scene setters don’t come any
clearer.
‘Voschod’ follows with a one-way trip into space as we explore the lesser-told half of the 60s space race and the
Russian’s second wave manned spacecraft trips. You can almost hear the countdown as the kicks rumble beneath
you and you can definitely feel the fire power and low end thrust when the full track takes off. Peaktime Clementi;
guaranteed lead-taking material.
Maintaining the outer planetary sensation, ‘Landing A Man’ spins us into gravity-free stasis with an historic
homage to Kennedy’s ambition to land a man on the moon. Looping up the respected president with trippy,
head-turning results he utilises a drum set so wide and cliff-like you can feel the earth’s orbit and gravity drawing
you back to terra firma with weight and confident firmness. Bringing it home… Only to shoot you back into space
again very soon. Happy new future everyone. More

simon garcia - I never knew, Mr. Tophat Remix
Tracklist:
A1. I Never Knew feat. Trisse Young
A2. Trimmer
B1. I Never Knew (Mr. Tophat Remix)
Info:
He’s back in the kitchen… After a summer of endless touring Madrid-based Garcia has returned to his flavour lab to cook up a whole new wealth of grooves and the future is looking tasty.
Last spotted on Pets in 2013 - and since serving up styles on some of the most respected labels in techno – Pokerflat, Freerange, Darkroom, Perspectiv and Supplement Facts - Garcia provides two quintessential winter warmers. ‘I Never Knew’ chugs with a full bodied dynamic that’s nicely reminiscent of Yoshitoshi 15-20 years ago as molten machines create a funk that wraps itself around the short-but-perfectly formed humanised sample.
“Trimmer” lives up to its name with his signature Hypnotic Vibes less-is-more flow. A precision-chiselled groove that spirals deeper and deeper into itself, it comprises nothing but a bubblesome bass lick, sturdy kicks, subtle FX and an undulating synth line that ripples almost majestically. A serious DJ tool for those who like their understated blends to suddenly catch you by surprise, this is the epitome of restrained.
Speaking of surprise, just on Mr Tophat’s remix of ‘I Never Knew’. Closing the show with a true switch-flipper, the second you think you have the remix and its slinky Brett Johnson/Classis Music style groove locked down BOOM… In come those organs and a whole heap more. Nine minutes of heaven – you won’t be trimming this one down in a hurry. You won’t be trimming any of them. Enjoy… More

Meet Thorsteinssøn. The Iceland-born-Denmark-bred Gunnar Thor Viggosson better
known as one half of 76-79 with Tommy Vicari Jnr and bossman at Comfortable
Records and Vanity. Right now, though, we’re calling him the man behind the first
Pets artist album this year… Deliciously cosmic and cheerily schizophrenic,
‘Academy Of Heroes’ is inspired by a brilliant creative project Thorsteinssøn
practiced during his years living in Amsterdam: Solar Industry Radio. A project that
would begin with a made up artist or band name in styles ranging from cosmic
funk, scandinavien disco to noise collages of the galaxies. A joyously backwards
project that inspired a rich rainbow of styles, the content was then represented 24/7
online, collaged with strange jingles and sifi snippets. Genius. Returning to those
creations, Thorsteinssøn and Pets have weaved together a full album that cherry
picks from his thunderous proliferation: from the strutting west coast deep house of
‘1976’ to the introverted electro boogie of ‘N M T F R’ by way of the poignant chords
of ‘Untitled Disco Six’, the wry acid wriggles of ‘Channel DISQ’ and the Trans Am
twinkles of ‘Beneath A Steel Sky’, the 14 collection acts as an immersive, timeless
collage. A smorgasbord of synthetic exploration, rich in sci-fi, space and robotic
sympathy, pieced together with the same spirit of his cult radio transmissions, it
works just as well on the cans as it does in the dance… And it’s en route with an
equally alluring package of remixes. An album, a radio show for freaks or simply a
journey into Thorsteinssøns world.. Whatever… He really is a creative maverick.

A1. Thorsteinssøn - Sixtrak Blues (Ashworth Remix)
B1. Thorsteinssøn - Sammy (Geeeman Remix)
B2. Thorsteinssøn - Midnight At Taffey's (Cab Drivers Remix)
Info:
With the highly anticipated release of Thorsteinssøn’s 'Academy of Heroes’ album on
the horizon, Pets Recordings have decided the flip the switch early and precede the
longplayer
with a fantastic trio of remixes. Academy of Heroes is described as
‘deliciously cosmic and cheerily schizophrenic’ and looking to break down and
reconstruct some of this glorious frenzy are three exciting producers, each of which
have chosen a track from the album to remix. First up is London based Pets pal
Ashworth, who returns to the label for the first time since December's ‘Collapsed’ ep.
’Sixtrack Blues’ is the track of choice with Ashworth harnessing the originals dreamy
vibe and adding a punchy guitar driven groove. Talking of ‘punch’, Gerd steps up,
under his Geeeman guise, on a rework of ’Sammy’. Taking the original’s liquidy and
acidic melody the Dutchman straightens and replays, replacing the original’s loose
drums with a raw, kickass
rhythm of his own to turn Sammy into a warehouse
weapon. Fresh from their Boiler Room debut, Berlin live act Cab Drivers select the
bulbous cosmic disco of ‘Midnight At Taffey’s’ to resculpt.
A driving drum pattern
turns the original slomo
groover into a stellar swinging workout. A superb selection
of remixes, each far removed from Thorsteinssøn’s originals. Making the anticipation
for the Academy Of Heroes that much greater. Enjoy More

mathias kaden - no kick

mathias kaden - polyphonic
Tracklist Single:
A1 Mathias Kaden - Polyphonic B1. Mathias Kaden - NoKick
Info:
Pets are proud to welcome long-time friend Mathias Kaden whose making his label
debut with two of the trippiest, sense-shaking, freakiest jams we think he’s ever
conjured.
As teased in his recent Boiler Room show (and most sets he’s played lately), both
‘Polyphonic’ and ‘NoKick’ offer a fresh-yet-heritage-rooted take on techno and have
been tailored to cut through on the biggest of festival and carnival rigs. Perfect timing,
then. Let’s tuck in:
‘Polyphonic’ sits somewhere between Paperclip People and Basement Jaxx. Its
sterling acid house hook lays down the foundations while a dizzying array of FX and
sonic chemtrails swoop, bend and flare above the groove like fireworks. A proper
sonic rocket display of a track that defies conventional arrangement, make no
mistakes: this blows minds.
‘NoKick’ continues this theme with even more derring-do. As the name suggests,
there’s no kick drum at play here, just a swinging break with a classic 2 Bad Mice
style old school bassline and even more laser-blazing FX trickery that rifles the
spectrum with head-turning, twisted dexterity. Complete with crowd cheers and
carnivalian whoops and hollers, this is the ultimate DJ tool that winds the crowds up
like nobody’s business.
Better late than never: After years of releasing on some of the biggest and most
respected labels in techno, Mathias’s appearance on Pets has been long overdue.
But rest assured; these tracks really are a seriously special occasion. Only a fool
would sleep on these… More

sonic rocket display of a track that defies conventional arrangement, make no
mistakes: this blows minds.

A1 Catz ’n Dogz - Upsi Bubsi B1. Catz ’n Dogz - Elixir
Info:
Following on from the successful release of ‘Basic Colour Theory: Remixed’ in March, Catz n’ Dogz announce their latest EP ‘Upsi Bubsi'. The duo's first release of 2016 welcomes the New Year in true Catz n Dogz fashion with two tracks EP is a fruitful twist of cosmic melodies mixed under the duo's trademark heavy tech-house styled bass and percussion. The EPs’ opening and title track ‘Upsi Bubsi' is a certified floor filler from the get go. The track opens with a thunderous mix of 909 loops alongside a repeated throb of intense arpeggiated bass. The track is peppered with splurges of crashing cymbals,
rolling toms and the hypnotic looped vocal whispering ‘don't stop'; a track clearly engineered for the dance floor. As the track builds, we are greeted with Egyptian styled keys, an unusual choice of sounds for most indeed, but a skill that we have become accustomed to in many of the duo’s productions. ‘Elixir' offers a different experience to its counterpart with a collage of rising melodic chords and an 808 break beat. The track is a beautiful arrangement of graceful choir sounding melodies over warm sub-bass chords, seemingly inspired by early 90's Detroit. The track takes full form introducing tribal drum patterns alongside splashes of keys and styled cosmic percussion. The track is a testament to the producer’s
creative prowess, showcasing their broad abilities to tackle all styles and genres of
dance music. This release undoubtedly highlights Catz N’ Dogz’ arsenal of talent in creating two very unique but equally as strong productions. Both possess the quality and pedigree of the duo's back catalogue and are set to command the globe’s top dance floors. More

Info:
Fresh from Catz ’N Dogz own recent remixes of Disclosure, Roisin Murphy and Rufus comes their own remix album of the critically acclaimed “Basic Colour Theory” album the Polish DJs, producers and Pets Recordings’ label owners have now invited a prolific array of artists to remix a selection of the LP’s signature tracks. This collection will be released digitally as well as on vinyl on 11th March 2016 The 2015 original LP combined traditional songwriting meets Catz ‘N Dogz trademark infectious basslines; a natural result of extensive sonic exploration and the osmotic process of years of DJing worldwide, all the while developing a deeper understanding of what they want to deliver through their music. From more simple edit work, to entire tonal shifts, the pair’s songwriting has been reassembled by an eclectic, star-studded cast of beatmakers that include Jamie Jones, Maurice Fulton, Skudge and Yotam Avni all skillfully apply curious fusions of their own unique musical roots. This is a remixer's remix compilation that succeeds in connecting the tracks musical dots into a singular musical vision. Rethought and reimagined, melodies and vocals are respectfully trimmed away In favour of new found rhythms., The remix clearly thought of as an extended method of quotation, citation and commentary with each new sound enforcing the consistency and dependability of Catz ‘N Dogz original production. Across the weighty 4 tracks of warm grooves and up-tempo cuts, each remix demands attention; blissfully capturing the original's fun-based lovingness and while often delivering unlikely juxtapositions carefully avoids any artistic tangle. 3
adam port & jennifer touch - this time, adam port remix
Tracklist:
A1. This Time
A2. This Time (Sei A Remix)
B1. This Time (Adam Port Remix)
Info:
Pets Recordings hit their 59th release, handing the reigns to rising star Adam Port who presents a fresh update on '80s synthtronica, mixed with a smattering of gradual peak-time, bottom-heavy house structure. 'This Time' is the product of a new and fruitful relationship between Adam and vocalist Jennifer Touch, who grabbed Port's attention with her stand out vocals on the Nightstalker EP on Riotvan. The pair connected and began meeting for off the cuff, un-planned sessions at the Keinemusik studio in Stattbad, with Port bringing his knowledge of the dance-floor, Touch her 80's'esque new wave sound and influences. "It's a very good flow with her" says Adam. "We're speaking the same music language even when we have a different background".
Pets bosses Catz 'n Dogz immediately asked to sign the track after hearing Adam play it out. Full of dark, new wave pop sensibilities and edgy, dance-floor nuance, the original's slow and meandering electronic drum rhythm - permeated by crisp, mechanical snares, cymbal flashes and a guitar-picked loop with deep bassline and chanting background vocal melodies - make way for Jennifer's haunting vocal delivery while melancholy synths drape the track during it's choral bridge. Adam then progressively notches up in tempo as marching beats help to drive the track towards the dance-floor.
Sei A delivers a punchy, bassy remix - driven by a thick and pounding kick drum at it's core - while radiating, pulsing synth bass slowly melt into range, before a high tempo organ riff heralds a darker, techno leaning excursion into full force peak-time territory before brutalist saw wave bass lines bring the warehouse vibes on the drop. Finally, Port finishes off the release with his own alternate version, focusing on percussion and a deep, ethereal sub bassline and Jennifer's vocals, chopped, spliced and staggered, while the basslines and melodies create subtle shifts in this hypnotic, repetitive techno workout.

Info:
The Polish DJs, producers and Pets Recordings' label owners known for their electrifying performances and catchy cuts announce their third LP, 'Basic Colour Theory', a fruitful collection of evocative melodies and gorgeous vocals. This album marks a pivotal moment in their career as house outfit Catz 'N Dogz.
Taking firm lead of the Eastern European electronic music revolution, the pair, who have previously graced the cover of both Mixmag and DJ Mag Spain, have for some time been poised for significant success as their international recognition on the underground has never lacked momentum. 'Basic Colour Theory' will add to the list of remarkable accolades the dynamic duo already have under their belt; joining their acclaimed Essential Mix in 2013, and weighty remixes for a who's who in music electronic or otherwise, including Basement Jaxx, Kings Of Leon, Thomas Schumacher, Friendly Fires, and Kim Ann Foxman, not to mention their two previous LPs. Colour; such a pervasive part of everything we visually encounter, and its many theories a logical structure that for many artists, designers and music producers becomes an intuitive choice - a melting pot of ideas and influences in varying quantities. Evoking particular moods and emotions through choice of palette in design and sound architecture. In this full length offering, traditional songwriting meets Catz 'N Dogz signature infectious basslines; a natural result of extensive sonic exploration and the osmotic process of years of DJing worldwide, all the while developing a deeper understanding of what they want to say through their music. Their knack for reading a crowd just right has seen them lording stages of some of the most coveted festivals across the globe, including SW4, Park Life, Bestival, Snowbombing, Electric Daisy Carnival and BPM, and has also resulted in them being booked for the iconic Movement Festival 2015 (Detroit) and Exit Festival 2016 (Serbia). The same talent that has helped them achieve such stratospheric success is translated here in a collection of inviting tracks, as they showcase their on-point producing talents. "It's our third album and we did a lot of research, preparation, reading, watching documentaries about the music scene, people and looking for inspirations everywhere. We were talking a lot about people who inspire us, art, creative process, philosophy and meaning of work and music in our life."From the off, opening cut 'Good Touch' exemplifies this is a true game changer for this unstoppable duo, and is the start of a fifteen-track voyage through experimental sounds as they explore a different approach to electronic music. Although a rewarding listening experience from start to finish, this is an album where each track stands alone for its own musical purpose, dancing through the listener's mind long after listening. Tracks such as 'Czas Poczeka' express the heart and soul that both producers have put into this body of work, all the while keeping it up-tempo with rhythmic cuts like 'Nobody Cares', and expressing their affinity with varying styles. 'Killing With Kindness' is a soul-drenched groover, with its warm chords and atmospherics straddling a subtly clipped garage-like shuffle. Tracks such as ''From Your Heart' and 'Coming Back' are filled with emotion, from the beguiling vocals to the moving chord progressions.

Messrs David van der Leeuw and Luigi Vittorio Jansen have been making waves with their Beesmunt Soundsystem project, a lauded club night and DJ outfit that's grown into a behemoth, breaking out of the Amsterdam dance music scene in which they made their name. Now the duo are returning to Pets Recordings with their new Raindance EP. Beesmunt are used to controlling crowds and opening up the heavens with their eclectic, upfront and often frenetic style of house music. After releases on Soweso, Just Jack and of course last years huge Pets debut 'Bodyshape', Catz N'Dogz have invited this emerging tour de force back, to bring their upfront, pristine production skills for another slice of block rocking music. Opening cut 'Searchin' kicks things off. The deep and bubbling number is characterised by the duo's deep and bass heavy kick drums, with sweeping atmospherics, eerie vocal stabs and dusty, slo-mo drum claps. A mid tempo late night workout that touches all the right parts in equal measure as it blends house deepness with minimal pace. Title track 'Raindance' starts with thick and fattened kick drums, while ticking clicks, 808 modulation percussion and one hit bass getting gnarlier and more stripped back on every 4th beat, evoking the sweaty vibes that characterised their raucous parties back at home. Keeping true to its namesake on the flip, 'Ominous' takes a different approach, coming with a stripped back, sound design approach, building up ominously into unpredictable beats before their trademark kick drum - rough around the edges and dripping in analogue clarity - pitches the track up a notch and un-relents until the very end. Finally, Borrowed Identity enters with remix of Searchin', focusing on the atmospheric sweeps and vocal chops before dropping for a more 4x4 influenced workout, touched by hollow baselines and EQ's chords.
Beesmunt Soundsystem are on fire with their unapologetic, raw style and sound. Two producers well ahead of their years.

Info:
Just ahead of a landmark 50th EP release, Catz 'N Dogz's Pets Recordings turn to Johan Cederberg aka HNNY for a special five track release that very much invites us deep into the off kilter world of the revered Swedish producer. Before now HNNY - preferably pronounced "honey" - has won himself many fans with curious and quirky releases on labels including Studio Barnhus, Let's Play House and Local Talk. Producing house but with a charming sense of melody, a great ear for a sample and an irresistible sense of groove, he is a firm DJ and dancer favourite all across Europe, and for good reason. Opening the EP is 'Happy Happy House House', a lazy, beachy cut awash with sun-kissed melody and trip hop grooves. Swaying gently to and fro, it's an immediately soothing track before 'Brasilian Sound' is as Latin as you would expect from the title: it's a percussive, summery, atmospheric jaunt though up-tempo and feel-good house that's littered with distant whistles, the sound of kids playing in the park and a variety of loveable instruments. 'Fresh Laundry' then drops into a much slower and more purposeful groove - stoned drums and a distant bassline unfold lazily before big wind instruments begin tooting up top. It's human, imperfect and full of keys that imbue it with the joys of spring. On the flip, 'Fruktstund' is another adult lullaby with colourful, cartoony instrumentals, angular grooves and plenty of organic textures, whilst closer 'Yogalates' is much the same with its big xylophones, joyous piano chords, rubbery kicks and generally disarming sense of playfulness. Spring is just round the corner but it feels so much closer with these enchanting new cuts from HNNY.
