Glasgow/London label collective Numbers announce their newest release and their second from the fast rising Welsh beatmaker known as Doc Daneeka. ’Treptow’, set for release on 9th June 2014, follows the breakthrough club anthem ‘Walk On In’ which rightly appeared in a swathe of end of year round-ups including Time Out’s Top 10 dance tunes of 2013. The eponymous Side A on the Doc’s new offering, a banger titled ‘Treptow’, is designed to move heads and feet via the medium of thunderous kick drums and slamming piano stabs, and showcases some of his darkest, starkest work to date. The pounding, grunting rhythms of the A-side could sit pride of place amongst the back-catalogue of any of the Detroit's intense second wave godfathers, while its deeper flip-side, 'Paname (Piano Vers)', in its full near nine-minute glory, takes a similar propulsive formula but via a journey of keys and filters that expands and builds gradually to dazzling effect.

After four impressive releases from the likes of Ossie and Behling & Simpson, 2020 Midnight Visions kicks of its attack on 2013 with a new EP from the UK’s Doc Daneeka. Last year saw Doc team up with Benjamin Damage for a well received full length on 50 Weapons, They Live!, which stood apart for its pioneering hybridisation of house, bass and techno. Here, on his own terms, Doc explores a more extroverted, melodically rich variant of bass heavy house across all four tracks. ‘Day By Day’ slowly percolates on lush pads and skippy percussion until flourishing into a reserved yet euphoric track with the arrival of a gauzy old soul sample. From there warm pulses of sub bass prop the lush and rousing arrangement until the end. ‘Just Say The Words’ is another cautiously joyous track with nimble neon chords bringing plenty of dynamism to the buried deep cry of “yes I will”. Rubbery beats sound clean and crisp, lending a most modern and contemporary edge to this new school house template. B1 sees ‘Everyday’ teasing out frazzled synth lines above a booming bottom end that bounces in time with another well­placed diva wail. Shades of Julio Bashmore lurk within and the end result is familiar feelings of house joy achieved in fresh and unfamiliar ways. Chesus (pronounced chay -zuss) is C from C.R.S.T., half of Darkhouse Fam and the one and only Metabeats fresh from his recent hip hop smash "Hookers" with Action Bronson. So apart from having a finger in just about every conceivable pie, Chesus is going back to his house roots on this solo project, which features the local talents, also making a fair name for themselves,The Organ Grinder and Didz. This is an E.P. of classic house smashers, harking back to the house heyday of the 90's but with a production twist from 2012. Throw ya hands up!

"I was introduced to Abi at the end of 2010 through a mutual friend - Johnny Dub who co- runs the excellent Manchester night hoya:hoya. Instantly I was blown away by her voice. I sent her some stuff that was on a slightly different tip to my usual beats. She dug it, sent it back, I worked on it some more - Tobyjug was born and i'm glad to say it has been the start of a long working relationship and friendship. We first came across Presk in Eindhoven last year playing support for Doc Daneeka. He played a set of straight original material and tore the place down. ?Since then we've heckled and begged until he finally signed his life away to us, and now that we own his soul we plan on sharing it with you. This E.P. comes correct for 2011 - with Presk riding off the back off a cheeky Tyler remix that is messing up dancefloors and topping charts all over the shop.
