For his inaugural EP under new guise 'Yem Gel', NTS Manchester resident and visual artist Alecs Pierce comes through with a four-track cacophony of sounds for Dave Maclean (Django Django) run label Kick + Clap.
From previous experimental outings as Obsidian Pond, gristed petunia and, Handi Dogh he returns with this new project based solely on electronic compositions, giving the multi-instrumentalist artist a chance to further explore his electronic leanings. Lady Chann & Rapha team up for 'Hard Drive'…

The UK's 'number one dancehall queen' returns with a storming Carnival heater called 'Hard Drive'. 'Back it up, hard drive' is the command from the Lady on this minimal dancehall rhythm, which packs in solid sub-bass, a bark, and some well-placed/spaced-out percussion.

The producer is the Bern, Switzerland born and raised Raphaël 'Rapha' Gasser, who became hooked on dancehall after hearing a mixtape by Berlin-based Supersonic Sound and has gone on to collaborate with the genre mainstays like I-Octane, Sheba, Kiprich and more.

On the flip B-side is the remix by Newark-based Jersey Club original R3LL, upping the BPM and sure to keep forward thinking dance-floors bubbling.

After putting out releases from the likes of UK rave legend Warlock and Baltimore rapper Rye Rye produced by Bullion, Dave Maclean of Django Django's Kick + Clap label announces Tom Furse's Run To Me suite with Because Music, due out 9th October. On Run To Me Furse has mapped out the EP as one opus divided into five cohesive parts. Referencing early techno it has one foot in Cologne and the other in Detroit, with its tightly worked, precise machino-florescence, condensed and upfront, and free of the pomposity that abounds in the genre. A sound enamored with Kraftwerk, Juan Atkins and Yello, it underpins a latent narrative on themes of love, machines and obliteration. Furse elaborated further on the inspiration behind the EP: "When I sit down in the studio I'm not always sure where it's going to go, really I just have that drive to create and I use that to explore sounds that interest me. It's a release of energy, no agenda, just expression. The driving visual idea behind this EP was very Sci Fi-based, I had this notion of robots being called to arms ("run to me") by a mother robot, in order to collect suns to build a giant engine powered by 20,000 suns. I know it's not really apparent in the songs, but visual ideas like that drive me forward when I'm making music, it just seems to make it easier, like putting sound to film. " Continuing a stint on NTS as well as remixing for the likes of Sebastian Tellier, Django Django & Connan Mockasin, Furse's ability to maintain a frenetic work rate with a steady lack of concern about genre and readymade platforms or avenues of thought, means the future is a tantalizing prospect for The Horrors man turned solo artist.

Rye Rye - real name Ryeisha Berrain - began performing at the age of 16, and a chance meeting with Blaqstarr resulted in their 2006 club hit 'Shake It To The Ground', heralding an impressive list of collaborations including Diplo, Robyn, Toddla T, M.I.A. and more, with Rye Rye touring with the latter throughout 2007 and 2008 and appearing in the video for her global smash 'Paper Planes'. This time she's jumping on a spidery beat from mercurial West London producer and DEEK label boss Bullion aka Nathan Jenkins…
"I found an old MP3 player when I was back at my folks' house, in with a load of my old stuff, and it had this weird track on it… a dancehall rhythm made with a didgeridoo sample. It was labeled 'Bum Spider' and I tried for ages to google it and couldn't find anything (googling 'bum spider' brought some strange results) so I put a tweet out describing it but… nothing. Then my manager, who knows the producer Bullion, told me it was by him and that he must have sent it to me ages ago! Anyway, I called Bullion up and said I had to release this track because I'd become obsessed with it. Bullion's productions are full of distinctive rhythmic arrangements and unexpected changes - owing to a short attention span and acute attention to detail. With a slew of releases on One-Handed music, he drew the attention of Young Turks, releasing 'You Drive Me To Plastic' in 2011 and soon after, R&S, revealing his own voice on 2012's hypnotic 'Say Arr Ee'. A true child of the rave generation, DJ/producer Warlock's mixtapes and radio show, on the now legendary London pirate station Pulse FM, established his cult status as a stalwart of the early 90's UK dance scene. A true pioneer, in his time Warlock has spearheaded the country's embrace of many, newly emergent sounds.

In the late 90's, Warlock released experimental techno on seminal labels Praxis and Spiral Tribe's Network 23, before a stint as A&R at Kickin Records, where he nurtured release's from techno Gods DJ Hell and Surgeon. In 2002, he launched his own label, Rag & Bone Records, providing a outlet for the emergent sounds of Electro, 2-step and Breakbeat, courtesy of Aaron Spectre, King Cannibal, Kanji Kinetic, Stagga, and of course Warlock himself.

Recently voted in Fact Magazine as one of the most underrated DJ's, recent years have seen Warlock's sonic emissions surface on seminal labels Hypercolour, Fat Hop, Yellow Machines, Frijsfo Beats, Skint and We Buy Gold. He currently hosts a weekly show on London's finest Kool FM, which perfectly showcases his in-depth knowledge of historical dance music, alongside his thirst for new sounds.

Kick + Clap's debut release comes courtesy of fellow Scot producer Neil Landstrumm, with an EP entitled "Knights of Shame". Well known for his early Peacefrog Records' classics such as "Brown by August", Landstrumm has been navigating unchartered musical territories since the 1990's. Circling mostly around experimental techno, Landstrumm is also know for exploring grime and dubstep, long before it was the done thing and has released nine albums across legendary labels such as Peacefrog, Tresor, Mosquito, Planet Mu, Sonic Groove and his own imprint, Scandinavia. KERN transcends the usual parameters of an artist's mix to present a unique and timeless listening experience, which breaks down into a DJ-friendly and highly collectable trio of releases. *Kicking off the series is Parisian protagonist Cyril Etienne aka DJ Deep. Selected for his career-defining dedication to Detroit techno, NYC and Chicago house - "the roots" of house and techno - as DJ, producer and head of the Deeply Rooted House empire, DJ Deep heads back to his own origins to present KERN Vol.1: "As I was struggling to find an order through all the great material on the Tresor catalogue or what my label currently does, I came up with this idea of a DJ's diary - like the picture of a guy writing down in his notebook which new and classic tracks would be relevant today. I kept this concept in mind when making my selection, which really helped me to simply follow my feelings and the flow of the music." *The mix begins with a track recovered from the Tresor archives: A.E.S's "Music In My Head" produced by Arthur Forest, Eddie 'Flashin' Fowlkes and Santonio. The latter, who also brings a never-released title from '93 forth, "Amnesia". Along with Xperiment's "Karn Evil #10" and mix-closer "III", an early record from St. Germain as Deepside, these all make up The Rarities EP - one of two 12" records escorting KERN Vol.1 mixed by DJ Deep. Originally designed to appear on his "Computer Games" album in 2008, Kerri Chandler signs the a-side with "Cobal" - propped on the b-side by new French signee Marcelus, "Y02", and Psyk wielding his Maan alias on "Jackin". *DJ Deep even goes to greater lengths and digs up more exclusive works for the mix - Bleak's thudding "Noon Shape" as well as another entry from Kerri Chandler, this time an unreleased edit Rootstrax's Harlequin. Both titles are set to come out on Deeply Rooted House this fall, along with a reissue of "Head Talking" a genre-hopping tour-de-force by DJ Gregory. Meanwhile, the rest of the mix transitions from old garage to classic Chicago acid house via the likes of Visions (aka Juan Atkins) and Armando - "151" being a notable DJ Deep favourite - before techno luminaries Shed and Jeff Mills take up posts in the latter half alongside efforts from contemporary tastemakers Jonas Kopp, Ben Klock and Skudge to drive KERN Vol.1 home. "When I do these mix CDs, I try to bridge the old spirit of what I used to like so much in house and techno, with what I think is somehow still alive in the new generation of producers, making these, as we say in French, "clin d'oeil" moments. Modern Obscure Music is proud to present Pierre Bastien & DJ Low's "Swing Low", a work that fuses the poetic inventiveness of Pierre Bastien with the visionary legacy of the late DJ Low (Tom Deweerdt), a central figure in Belgian independent music and founder of the influential Lowlands label. This album, which interweaves memory and experimentation, represents Bastien's debut on the Barcelona label's catalog and a testament to the creative bond between the two artists.
The album, composed of seven pieces, stands out for its hybrid nature: five reinterpretations of Bastien's previous works, some of them coming from his influential Mecanoid (originally released by Rephlex), and two unreleased improvisations, A Pupa and Reviver, which seal the unique character of the project.
Pierre Bastien, recognized as a composer, inventor and builder of sound machines, has been a tireless explorer of the frontiers between the mechanical and the musical. From his contribution to the Belcanto Orchestra, his collaboration with the PRSNT project to his participation in Pedro Vian's Earth, Our Planet or his collaboration with Tomaga for the Other People label, his career illustrates a constant commitment to experimentation and the intersection of disciplines. Among the artists he has worked with are names such as Robert Wyatt, Jac Berrocal, Jaki Liebezeit and designer Issey Miyake. His works have found homes on iconic labels such as Marionette, Morphine and Discrepant to name a few.

The album is presented with a visual design by Koen Bruyneel, reinterpreted as a tribute to Tom Deweerdt, a decade after his departure.
