Archie Hamilton’s Moscow Records invites Mennie for his first solo release of 2019, featuring two spacey cuts in the form of ‘Proxima’. Joining Moscow Records following releases on Poker Flat, Infuse and Rawax, Mennie is a regular DJ at Florence’s Tenax Club when not performing across Europe including appearances in the UK, France, Germany and Spain. Alongside Julien Sandre, the Italian producer is also one half of Jarau and together they’ve released on labels like One Records, Visionquest and Pleasure Zone. Kicking things off, ‘Proxima’ injects acid squelches into an atmospheric background which builds to include a wonky bassline laced with echoing distorted vocals. he NoHamilton EP gets underway with ‘Lip Service’, a rough-and-ready track with firm emphasis on a grinding, hypnotic loop that easily surpasses your average DJ tool. Highly finessed and progressing steadily, it’s the perfect example of how to do less with more. Looking towards more sun-kissed planes, the duo deliver the EP's A2 track, a more heads- down cut that’s loaded with good-time grooves from the get go. Sure to work a charm whenever it’s unleashed, ‘Bored of Life’ serves up an intriguing insight into both producers’ boundless studio output. Romanian duo SIT culminate matters with their ‘Lip Service’ rework. Consisting of Cristi Cons and Vlad Caia, the pair have been excelling consistently, with both their Resident Advisor mix and latest release on the iconic Sushitech label proving a potent reminder of this. Taking the listener down the rabbit hole once more, they inject Archie Hamilton & Noha's original with an eerie sheen, also adding an off-kilter baseline that’s hard not to get lost in. Following the hypnotic ‘What’s In Your Head’ EP in 2016, Archie Hamilton returns to Moscow Records with his first solo EP on the imprint since the release last year.
Since finishing 2016 with a place in RA's top 100 DJs poll, he’s been touring the world, had a summer residency at Amnesia and released another massive EP on FUSE. An integral part of the stellar ascent of the brand, and founder at tastemaker label initiatives Moscow Records, Moss Co. and Arkityp,he is an artist very much in control of his rise. The record opens with Confusion; an out and out anthem which has been tearing up dance floors across the globe all summer. A trademark bassline drives the track forward as stabs build, tight percussion cuts through and a repeating vocal enters. Then when the track drops it shifts the mood completely, causing any dance floor to bump uncontrollably. Dos Equis is something different altogether. Minimalistic percussion and a tight sub lay the foundations for a funky bass guitar line. Warming pads meet Rhodes keys and out of nowhere a beautifully subtle vocal line appears. As the track breaks down, a mind bending synth line takes the listener out of their state of reflection. The title track on the flip is a classic piece of groovy Hamilton weaponry. A positive mood that bounces along to a whispering voice in the background. The track develops as lush chords permeate the groove, soaking the dance floor in the last of the summer sun to create a euphoric crescendo. More

When titans collide! Moscow and FUSE bosses Archie Hamilton and Enzo Siragusa clash heads on MOSCOW020 bringing both of their influences to bear.?
Ricochet is an unashamed terrace bomb which has been tried and tested by the boys all winter. Nothing complicated here, just big beats and tension-filled break that satisfies the dance-floor with the introduction of a familiar sounding old school hip-hop style lead. Dubby chords then switch the track up for a few bars before going back to business. The flip opens with Transcend, an understated acid track perfect to keep things lively mid- set. The lead weaves it’s way through the track whilst playing with a barely audible vocal and plenty of groovy percussion.? The record closes with Dubinnovation - something quite different from either of the producers’ usual styles. As the title suggests, the track takes influence from dub, using the sampled voice of Lee Scratch Perry. Rolling beats, rasping bass and mind warping effects make this the ultimate after party weapon. More

Moscow Records close 2016 with a fantastic 3-track EP from Berlin imports Roustam and Tolga Fidan. This being their first outing together, the pair deliver a high quality, intelligent journey through minimal house and techno. The record opens with Brodsky Beat; a groovy, dance floor-focused track. Lively percussion and tight bass communicate perfectly with the hope-filled lead to build tension throughout. The Omega Variant on the A2 has a much more abstract feel. Broken beats and skippy percussion play back and forth with deep, spacey hooks and a peculiar synth, giving the listener a sense of mystery. Finally, Growing Up Is Just a Phase is a calming 14 minute trip that uses the entirety of the B Side to tell a story of reassurance and calm. Laid-back rhythms, guitar samples, relaxed vocals and a wandering synth line work together to form the perfect warmup track. More

Moscow Records’ first release of 2016 comes from label boss Archie Hamilton, remixed by Romanian talent Ali Nasser. The title track on the A side is an uplifting piece of minimal house blending a familiar synth line with a trippy vocal and his characteristic groove. Ali Nasser’s remix on the flip brings together both classic percussion and synth elements, in a contemporary style, constructing a timeless house classic.
