Living and breathing electronic music for what has now been twenty years, Arne Schaffhausen and Wayan Raabe have carved out a piece of its history and showed us that in the vast spectrum of dance music, where the normal world ends, Extrawelt begins. Their single "Gazelle Flip" on USA based label Dreaming Awake continues their journey into genre defying music. Call it Techno or Electro, but one thing is for sure, this is Extrawelt!

Roman Flügel’s debut on Running Back under his given name (Roman IV doesn’t count) is a wonderful confirmation of his outstanding position in the past, present and future of electronic music. Needless to mention all his merits (or monikers for that sake) and excessive in almost any style, „Garden Party“ highlights his competence in the dance hall and sees Flügel in a jovial mood. Presented by someone who knows the roots of it all, you can hear and envision traces of disco, stories of Manchester’s Hacienda, memories of the night life in Frankfurt as well as the reflections in and of US-American mirror balls. But simultaneously, the rich content here also shows the blossoms of the seed, if one avoids the danger of retromania. This is serious fun and as uplifting as a garden party should be. Or based loosely on the creator’s thoughts: if ABC’s blue-eyed soul stems from punk and new wave, Flügel’s „Look of Love“ is a direct result of more than 25 years of kick drums .

Extraordinary pieces of music have long stood in direct correlation to the physical surroundings that inspire them. When Oliver Koletzki and Niko Schwind packed up their Berlin studios last April to spend a month locked away in a cottage nestled in the stunning nature of Cape Town's Noordhoek area before heading to AfrikaBurn, little did they know that its long beaches, dramatic mountain views and the heritage of its indigenous people would have such a profound effect on the club-ready sound they had championed with a string of EPs and live-performances since 2015. The result of four weeks of geo-cultural stimuli and creative experimentation culminated in the album Noordhoek, released in May 2018 on Stil vor Talent.

While the productions on Noordhoek display the same on-point sound design of previous Oliver Koletzki and Niko Schwind releases, the impressive emotional depth and electronic floor-focus of its twelve tracks effortlessly merge with complex rhythmic textures to form a contemporary narrative on ancient dance rituals. After a roller coaster ride through twelve versatile yet coherent productions, one thing is certain as the ultimate crack of thunder crashes down on Noordhoek: South Africa fuelled the creative energy of two remarkable musicians, who where able to translate the abundance of their impressions into a truly original world of sound.

They did four EPs on Toy Tonics since then - followed by selected releases on Neo Vinyl, Pets and Gruuv records.
Since the beginning Black Loops have been consistently developing their own style. The fact that Riccardo Paffetti - the Black Loops main man - is a drummer explains why their way to program the beats has this special flow. A flow that you can't find on many other house production.
