L'Épée is a four-piece band comprised of Emmanuelle Seigner (Ultra Orange & Emmanuelle), Anton Newcombe (The Brian Jonestown Massacre) and Lionel + Marie Limiñana (The Limiñanas).
The collaboration came about last year, when husband and wife duo The Limiñanas recorded an album ('Shadow People') with Anton Newcombe. A track featured French musician, actress, model and muse Emmanuelle Seigner on guest vocals. When she came into the studio to record the group dynamic clicked and a natural collaboration ensued.
Inspired by melancholic movie scores and the mythology of Rock'n'Roll music, from Lou Reed to the Rollin Stones, 'Diabolique' is infused with light, shadows and layers of psychedelic fuzzy guitars.
It was recorded between Lionel and Marie's home place Cabestany (FR) and Anton's Cobra Studio in Berlin.
The collective have named themselves L'Épée, meaning "the sword" in English, after it came to Anton in a dream.
They will be touring Europe later this year.

Deset crew Oscar Szafraniec for a sun-soaked collaboration featuring three brand new cuts and a stellar remix from the legendary Chicago house music hero, Glenn Underground. The project is a result of a close friendship between the producers, completely free of ego and rather a focus on pursuing the artistic side of musical expression and compositions which break expectations.
A1 track 'She's Lost' is bursting with emotionally charged melodies and a crisp, punchy rhythm structure to keep the feet moving. The stunning use of intense synths and vocals at the second half offer a perfect balance between machine music and human vulnerability, a duality between hope and loss - a blissful sound the duo clearly capture here.
A2 comes in the form of 'Voices In My Head,' a masterful piece of music heavily focused on live instrumentalism and soul infused synthesizer leads. Again, the vocals make a welcome return with slightly off-kilter melodies resting perfectly with the rest of the track. A welcome change of pace for the usual expected dance cuts, a perfect song for connected moments late at night.
B1's 'Blue Sunset' dives directly back to the dancefloor with the clear 'club banger' for the EP. Jackin' rhythms and short sharp key stabs give this a truly Chicago meets Berlin vibe while the use of hi-hats in select places boosts the energy to a boiling point. Atmospheric, energetic and a perfect weapon for the prime time.
B2 rounds out the release with an outstanding Glenn Underground rework of 'She's Lost,' which is saturated with that brilliant deep house soul which only GU can capture. Remixed under his 'CVO' alias, Glenn focuses his directive towards that late night blissed out feeling, masterfully playing the keys and adding layer upon layer of texture with each passing moment. "In celebration of 5 thrilling and inspiring years of work, we've gathered well-known artists, Goldmin regulars and emerging talents for a new compilation of Various Artists 12s". It was really important for us that the compilation express the elusive nature of the Goldmin sound. Over the past 5 years, we've had the chance to meet most of these artists in person, and follow their very own creative paths, as well as share thoughts and ideas. They've all had their own part to play in crafting the sound of the label. What it comes down to is a genre defining selection devoid of any specific standard or norm. The compilation reflects the unique sound which has grown throughout our whole catalogue, since the label's birth 5years ago. That's why, picking this selection of tracks, that we feel illustrate Goldmin Music's essential freedom was one of toughest things we've ever done. It was also important to pick only the most original and iconic tracks from each artist. In the end each track had to be their most Goldmin one and they've all been tried in all types of situations, in club at 1 and 5 AM, on the highway at night or even staring at the ceiling during a sleepless insomnia session, and they all fullfilled their duty!"

South African funk music from the 80s has recently gained recognition as some of the best funk
productions in the world; yet so many titles remain virtually unknown outside of South Africa, especially due to the scarcity of the original pressings (due in part to the destruction of any music perceived as subversive by South African government censors at the time).
The level of musicianship on these recordings is simply world-class. Even Paul Simon was trying to work with Bibi Msomi while recording his Graceland album in South Africa (read more about it in this exclusive interview).
Combining American and South African funk influences, these 6 upbeat dance tracks feature popular
synths and drum machines of the day. Tricky lends his production expertise to tracks including ‘The Moth & The Flame’ by Bob Vylan - the politically focused, London based punk and grime duo, as well as an elegant and streamlined re-edit of ‘Lucien’ from Young Magic, the Brooklyn based group who have toured the US with Tricky in recent years. The Transhumanism collective was born on the dance-floor at Dave Clarke's first Whip It party at the Melkweg in Amsterdam. This is the fourth vinyl release on Bass Agenda Recordings that features the four Dutch Electro artists w1b0, RXmode, Slaves of Sinus, and TFHats. The releases to date have had ongoing support from many key DJs who support the authentic Electro scene - Dave Clarke, UMEK, Helena Hauff, DJ Stingray, Maceo Plex, and Alienata to name but a few. Juan Atkins and Helena Hauff were still dropping w1b0's track from the first release this Summer (2019) at various festivals. It's no surprise that the first in the series has just been repressed, and now, the third in the series keeps the pressure up with 4 brand new tracks. As always, the brief here was simple - "be yourself and do your best to kill it". All four artists have risen to the occasion - maintaining the fundamentals of their individual sounds, evolving a little in some parts, and bringing a compilation with something for every discerning DJ with an ear for cutting edge Electro.

Another affiliate of The Martinez Brothers’ Cuttin Headz, Jesse Calosso has released a selection of quality releases on the label, as well as a standout EP on Tuskegee. Harvard Bass’ knack for the perfect dancefloor melody has been picked up by the biggest labels in the game including Relief, Turbo Recordings, Saved, Do Not Sleep and VIVA Music. Having worked with many of his contemporaries in recent years, Kid Enigma has previously collaborated with Mat.Joe and Nathan Barato, releasing on the likes of Kaluki and Defected in the process. Following his collaborative ‘Conscious’ EP alongside Rossko earlier this year, Per Hammar returns to FUSE sub-label Infuse with three more standout offerings this September. Swedish don Per Hammar has been turning out quality dub, house and techno with a dusty sense of atmosphere for more than a decade. In that time, he has established a number of his own labels including Dirty Hands and 10YEARS, while most recently founding De Vloer with Mandar member Malin Genie. Now firmly established as a key protagonist in the underground scene, the Berlin-based talent reasserts that position once more here as he returns to Infuse with his slick three-track ‘Side Effects’ EP. ‘Side Effects’ is a sublime 10-minute excursion into warm depths. Sustained pads drift in the distance as subtle percussion rolls in the foreground keep you locked, whilst soft-edged chords bring colour and soul and ensure this is a warm and hypnotic cut. Next, ‘Document Save’ is a more edgy affair with subtle synth details, samples and trippy pads all weaving in and out of the busy, fluttering drum line that keeps you on your toes. Last of all, ‘Remote Dubb’ is the most visceral on the EP: employing coarse synth textures and bustling drums that are expertly designed to enliven the ‘floor.

After some time he started throwing parties at Tancploshadka club in Saint P, touring around Russia and quite often playing at Denis Simachev Shop & Bar, so it makes perfect sense that his first record appears on the affiliated label.
First tune here is a peak-time banger with an Acidic feel featuring a vocal hook from Kirill Ivanov, frontman of a Russian indie pop band SBP4, followed by a huge percussive hypno jam on A2.

‘Broken Belief’ brings together a selection of recordings by Japanese multi-instrumentalist Toshfumi Hinata drawn from a body of work originally recorded between 1985-1987. Attending Berklee College of Music after spending time living in both the United States and the United Kingdom, Hinata would study under the tutelage of pianist Patricia Laliberte, graduating from the esteemed American school in 1982. Returning to Japan after becoming disillusioned with his classical training, Hinata experimented with many different forms of music. Moving away from depending simply on acoustic instruments, he would instead become entrenched in the possibilities of the latest analog synthesizers being developed at the time.
Toshifumi Hinata’s initial idea was to make his first album with just a Prophet 5 and Linn Drum Machine. Tweaking filters and creating intricate sequences, Hinata would record various sounds on analog tapes and overdub many different layers; recording violin, piano and other accompaniments separately later on. It would become a method of working for the musician which he would apply almost entirely throughout this period. A deeply submerged process; one in which he would seek, as he himself puts it, to "weave musical images".
Toshifumi Hinata would go on to record several more albums released only on CD throughout the late 1980s and 1990s, after which he focused mainly on music for TV dramas, commercials and documentaries. Now living in Tokyo he is almost exclusively focused on creating music for documentaries. After a ten year hiatus, original Boytronic vocalist and songwriter Holger Wobker (ex – Kamerata/Beachead), returns with the former Boytronic frontman James Knights (Scarlet Soho/KNIGHT$) to release the brand new Boytronic album, THE ROBOT TREATMENT.
Never before in the history of pop music has a predecessor collaborated with their replacement to make a new album. It’s very much a thing of legend. And perhaps it’s hard for some to understand why two singers occupying the same position would make a new album together. The answer is simply Boytronic.
No one can dispute Boytronic has had a colourful and at times turbulent history, after Holger Wobker and Peter Sawatzki honed their musical craft at sex shows in Hamburg’s red light district on the Reeperbahn. Known best for their top ten hit YOU, they also released two timeless synthpop records; The Working Model (’83) and The Continental (’85), with both albums considered well ahead of their time and remaining popular to this day. With the band shrouded in mystery, by the late 80s their management had claimed ownership of their name and with a new line-up they continued on without Holger.
Holger returned briefly for the Autotunes album in 2002, playing several live shows alongside the new band. But it was never quite the same Boytronic that captured the hearts and minds of fans all over the world. Fast forward to 2016, and James was invited by the band to act as frontman. Despite critically acclaimed live performances surrounding the release of the Jewel album in 2017, differences of opinion over the musical direction of the band saw James leave the old line-up in January 2018.
Holger and James met in Berlin. They soon realised they had far more in common musically than they’d realised. A love for Hi NRG, Italo Disco, Divine, The Flirts, even Fleetwood Mac. Both were eager to bring back the original sound of Boytronic, and knew 2019 was the right time. They set to work on what would become The Robot Treatment. Sending files back and forth between Germany and the UK the record soon took shape, and in November 2018 Holger visited James to mix the album with Martin Dubka, against the backdrop of the iconic River Thames in Maidenhead, UK.

Back in 2009 My Rules label owner Justin Van Der Volgen released a mix cd done completely with his own edits titled Try To Find Me Vol 2.
The mix was received incredibly well and had fans scrambling for years to try and spot the track list. It earned a 4.5 review on Resident Advisor, and had a certain rather known and respected DJ opening their sets with it.
Since then the status has only grown and is now considered by some one of the best mixes of all time.
So to mark the 10 year anniversary Justin has decided to finally release two of the most requested edits from it.
On the A-side you get a high powered vocal cut from Peggi Blu which comes on like a lost Chaka Khan anthem.
Flip over to the B side and you'll find Gregg Diamond's charging string-laden disco trip stripped back into a hypnotising euphoric roller.
Two peak time cuts not to be missed.

In this present, we are touched to have unreleased business from Memphis. In unlocking the stoic DAT tapes we open a direct channel from 1993 to this now; three tracks which are meditative, essential rhythm with direct, organic charge. It’s Dream Night Dance Music and Osram 509, with RHK, En-Trance, and Microgravity.

The wicked intensity of Toronto's E-Saggila takes on novel limits for her new album for Northern Electronics. Constructed out of her live works, there's a lack of restraint on 'My World My Way' that could only be forged in the moment. Following on from last year's album for BANK Records NYC, E-Saggila has put together something that addresses the club and the headphones in equal measure. Taking the approach of a documentarian of our virtual landscape, there's a deep motive that underpins the heavy digital signal processing. With plenty of storming mechanical rhythms that embark from gabber's chaotic neighborhood, the samples of voices, conversations, and phone calls, all wind the listener around the desperation that's embedded in the digital world's seamless mediation of our lives. Owing as much to power violence and industrial as to Rotterdam, E-Saggila's affinity for the extremes is as conceptually critical as it is stylistically present. Riding the BPMs high, and binding this all together with ambient music's sensibilities, 'My World My Way' moves in sharp strides between a political statement and a dancefloor assault.

The infamous Kiwi returns to Needwant with his second EP on the London label (home to the likes of The Revenge, Ejeca, Maxxi Soundsystem and many more) On this cut Kiwi does what he does best by incorporating emotion and grit into dance music. The EP features 3 mixes of ‘Kiya’ as well as a remix from underground hero Brian Ring. The record has already seen support form the likes of Theo Kottis, AME, Tensnake, catz n dogz, Nick Warren & Fort Romeau to name a few. The record opens with the original version of ‘Kiya' which features warm bass tones, spaced out synth lines, shuffling percussion and a tribal-esq vocal. The Rave mix gives ‘Kiya’ dance floor authority, introducing driving acid synth lines and a weightier low end. On the B side Kiwi delivers a deconstructed ‘Dreamscape’ mix stripping ‘Kiya' back to it’s beautiful bare bones. ‘Kiya’ will be another addition to Kiwi’s already impressive physical discography which includes releases on imprints such as Disco Halal, Future Boogie & 17 Steps. His unique approach to remixing and producing over the years has meant that he has seen a wealth of support from names such as Andrew Weatherall, DJ Harvey, Gerd Janson, Daniel Avery, Erol Alkan, Optimo, Annie Mac and Skream.

Even those of you who are already familiar with our label's concept of rediscovering music which has unjustifiably been lost, overlooked or forgotten will be surprised by the reissue of the six-track-record 'Bruchstuecke' LP by Free-Jazz artists Phrydderichs Phaelda. This band was a short living school band project of the Gymnasium Voerde Mitte (West-Germany) led by pianist and music teacher Friedrich Schepers joined by other teachers and students (Hans Klimek on bass, Lutz Leonhardt on drums, Wolfgang Kulawik on guitar). In 1975 they went to the studio to record 6 instrumental tracks in a style that could be best described as jazz / fusion with hints of r'n'b and rock, which are brimming with crisp snare drums played in polyrhythmic and ever-changing patterns and tempos. Alongside that the astounded listener gets to enjoy thrilling electric guitar lines and breathtaking electric piano excursions together with ultrawarm and elaborate bass guitar parts. All this is held together by the four musicians great overview and ability to improvise and react spontaneously to their fellows. This creates a kind of magic which is rare to hear in music these days. Stefan Leisering and Juergen von Knoblauch, the two record digging members of Jazzanova have immediately understood the unique quality of 'Bruchstuecke' and decided to re-release this overlooked masterpiece. In the course of the original release of this album in the early 1980s only a small amount has been pressed. Now with this reissue on Notes On A Journey is the chance to make this gem available to a larger audience - to people who share a great interest in the remarkable development of underground Jazz in Germany during those exciting years.

Wrapping up the Summer season for Selva Discos comes the fourth installment of the Brasingles series. This time, the label presents a slow burner from singer-songwriter Taciana Barros, taken from her only solo album "Janela dos Sonhos" (1995), produced by the mighty Mitar Subotic aka Suba. Taciana is known for his work as singer of the band Gang 90 e as Absurdettes – one of the milestones for the Brazilian rock/new wave scene in the 80s – and her personal involvement with Suba in the early 90s led to the recording of "Janela dos Sonhos", originally released on CD and K7. The Serbian producer also contributed with a unique "extended remix" of "Tudo Faz Sentido" – and those who are slightly familiar with the Brazilian music industry knows how rare it is to have such kind of remix on an official release. The original song is already catchy, seductive and quite polished as the best songs from that 1995 vintage are, but the Suba remix manages to take it to another level and then further, extending its mysterious atmosphere and intensifying the sexiness that lays underneath it all the way until it reaches the awesome breakdown – and then bringing the song back to a greater effect. It truly is an exquisite track that combines the excellence of Suba's production skills and Taciana's voice and songwriting talent that surely will hold the listener on repeat. As most of the Brasingles releases, this is a loud 12" single with the original song on the A side and a rework on the B side, to please both the DJ and the home listener.

Real name Roshan Chauhan, UK artist and mix engineer R.O.S.H. has a knack for blending an array of different styles resulting in a refreshing approach to club music and his next release on Radio Slave’s respected Rekids imprint demonstrates exactly that. With its raw melodies and rough, syncopated percussion, ‘AMG (CLA45 Mix)’ is a monster destined to shake warehouses. ‘In Roll’ then combines a frenetic rhythm with a deep and atmospheric aesthetic before R.O.S.H. takes us into even murkier territories with ‘PACE’ using metallic snares, shadowy reverb and whirring synths. Hailing from Chicago, Beau Wanzer has carved out a singular voice in electronic music since debuting on the L.I.E.S. label in 2013. Wanzer’s music is not industrial, wave, electro, or techno - it’s a unique and twisted amalgamation of all that, and more. Crazy as it sounds, we at Suction Records have been sitting on this Beau Wanzer material since 2003. Back then Beau was working at Weekend Records And Soap — a Chicago hub for the city’s exploding electro scene — when Solvent and Lowfish rolled into town to perform at an Ersatz Audio label showcase. We met Beau at the shop and he gave us a 21-track CDR. We were instant fans, fast friends, and went on to the share the stage with him several times, well before he released his first records. That CDR contains these 6 tracks now released on 10”-vinyl as the “Do The Spider Shimmy” EP. This is suction049. Had that CDR not been held onto, and recently-unearthed by Solvent, this music would have disappeared into digital oblivion; Beau had long forgotten them and didn’t even have a copy of these CDR tracks. Beau Wanzer’s trademark sound — raw, minimal electronics and effected-beyond-recognition vocals — were already in full-effect circa 2003, but what makes this material different from his contemporary output is the dry, drumbox-funk influence of Detroit’s Ersatz Audio label (Le Car, ADULT.), which is also heard loud and clear across the EP.

The project signaled both the arrival of a highly anticipated album, but also a complete presentation of Shaun's universe as an artist, with Tsugi noting the release as a "first step towards the total blossoming of a big name in electronic music" as they welcomed him to curate their highly coveted cover CD, showcasing his diverse, expansive palette as both a skilled producer and also a highly accomplished DJ. Having revisited the project's material with updates and edits throughout his own live sets, the Frenchman now welcomes an impressive cast of emerging and established names to remix the package, spanning pockets of IDM and ambient textures through to warping techno as he releases the four-part "Mercurial Skin Remixes" on Taapion this September.

Cologne’s resident conjurer Hodini steps up for his second solo EP on WOLF Music Recordings. Bringing elements from his hip hop background into this unique five tracker, Hodini dusts off long forgotten cuts, sampled with that MPC chopped graininess, blending lo-fi vocal sound bites with deft jazz loops, all adding a distinct, textured edge to his work.

Two of the harder-hitting club tracks close out the EP, both focused around hypnotic bassline carousels and looping layers. ‘Where’s The Wine’ interjects Rhodes flickers with bongo rhythms and unsettling laughes, as ‘One4Fries’ marries off-kilter, piano stabs alongside jazzy flourishes and fizzing percussion.
