John Gürtler - B6. Five Voice
Counterchange presents ‘Eigenlicht’ by Portuguese-German multi-instrumentalist, producer and award-winning film composer John Gürtler. Gently teetering between krautrock-influenced synth mantras and saxophone improvisations, down-tempo electronica, sound design experiments and moments of rich ambience, ‘Eigenlicht’ is a diverse album of electro-acoustic music. The 11 tracks were recorded between two studios and on location at Berlin’s infamous Teufelsberg, the abandoned Cold War era US spy-radio and radar outpost named ‘Field Station Berlin’, surrounded by forest to the west of the city.

Short Info:
Counterchange presents 'Eigenlicht' by Portuguese-German multi-instrumentalist, producer and award-winning film composer John Gürtler.
Gently teetering between krautrock-influenced synth mantras and saxophone improvisations, down-tempo electronica, sound design experiments and moments of rich ambience, 'Eigenlicht' is a diverse album of electro-acoustic music. The 11 tracks were recorded between two studios and on location at Berlin's infamous Teufelsberg, the abandoned Cold War era US spy-radio and radar outpost named 'Field Station Berlin', surrounded by forest to the west of the city.
A document of Gürtler's development, many of the pieces here were first laid down in his bunker-like former basement studios at Drontheimer Straße in north Berlin, before he eventually elevated above ground - both physically and musically - building his current Paradox Paradise studio and becoming an established film music composer. In 2019 John won the European Film Academy Award for Best Score, for his soundtrack for Nora Fingscheidt's debut feature 'Systemsprenger' (System Crasher).
In recent years John collaborated on a number of projects with acclaimed German producer and composer Phillip Sollmann aka Efdemin, performing live and releasing the 'Gegen Die Zeit' EP on Sky Walking, a subsidiary of Dial records where he also remixed Efdemin's 'Parallaxis' under the moniker The Borderland State.
In part an ode to the Macbeth Systems M5 modular synthesizer, with its three oscillators, much of the album features the towering instrument, whose uniquely rich tone and rumbling, pure bass end characterises tracks like 'Eigenlicht', 'M5', 'Synthetics' and 'Five Voice'.
"The M5's built in spring reverb and huge sliders and faders - as opposed to all the tiny knobs on Eurorack synths - make it as playable as any acoustic instrument."
John's primary background is in acoustic music, coming from woodwind and keyboard instruments, improvisation and composition. The leap into working with computers and electronic instruments found him exploring ways to make synths and samplers sound as organic as possible.
One of the first analog synths John bought was a polyphonic soviet-built Electronics EM-25 (??????????? ??-25) that he had shipped from Uzbekistan. It was cheap, but built like a tank and sounded like something between an organ and a Roland Juno synth. You can hear it on 'Russia Falling' - just like the title, the softly detuned chords descend as the track builds to its howling peak.
Part of John's ongoing search took him to amplifying synthesisers in unusual spaces, from the vast basement corridors outside his old Drontheimer Straße studio to the 12 second-long reverb spaces of the Teufelsberg Station. The track 'Old Devil's Hill' is a spontaneous composition played on saxophone, recorded in the middle of Field Station Berlin's highest dome.
"I was driving up there regularly with a friend, dragging instruments and battery powered amplifiers up the hill, through holes in the fence and all the way up a tiny staircase to the highest point above Berlin, just to get that amazing sound. It's such a strange reverb because it tunes every single note into near perfect pitch."
Through connecting different kinds of old and new wind controllers, John was able to play synthesizers with a controller similar to a saxophone or clarinet, that would recognise lip pressure and intensity of breath. You can hear the M5 brought to life on 'Eigenlicht', a tribute to the synth's Scottish creator Ken Macbeth, as John plays it with a breath controller, layering intertwining patterns before opening up into a joyous solo.
"The faders on the M5 are so wide that I'd stick a tape beneath them and draw lines for certain notes, creating scales I could play with without using a keyboard, like on the track 'M5'. I had brought a lot of old leaves, branches and plant seeds into the studio to create an earthy drone bed for the track. It also features a Santur which my parents brought back from Tehran as they fled back to Europe on account of the revolution in '79." Most of the tracks feature improvised performance elements, often allowing a certain 'first take' magic.
For a period John had an original Sequential Circuits Prophet 5 at the studio. 'Suchend' is a first take, one take recording.
"I love the way there's this rhythmic warbling coming from the synth, it almost sounds like an old record. I used to pass up this kind of track for being unspectacular, but looking back it's the spontaneous and simple ones that (still) stand out to me…"
Vital Sales Points:
- Award-winning film composer (Systemsprenger / System Crasher) and regular Phillip Sollmann / Efdemin collaborator John Gürtler presents his most accomplished work yet, in an 11 track long-player, 'Eigenlicht'.
- Partly recorded on location at Berlin's Teufelsberg - the infamous former Cold War US 'listening station' - Field Station Berlin.

B1 3 Days Man! (Peewee Ferris & John Ferris Extended Mix)
Short info:
Turned on by a new dawn of chemical love, Sydney dance-funk combo Bellydance laid down their sampledelica blueprint in 1991, thinking in parallel with Weatherall's revelatory work with Primal Scream. A candy flip of streetsoul, festival jam band and Chip Monck's cautionary brown acid address, 3 Days Man! was primed for open fields and discotheques, in an age when the deejay was royalty.
With an elastic lineup that boasted up to 9 members, Bellydance synchronised more with the club scene than the city's straight-ahead pub rock racket, naturally recruiting hometown heroes Peewee and John Ferris to remix their multi-track concoction. A certified party closing anthem, the brother's sun-smacked breakbeats elevate a collective consciousness beyond the clouds.
Originally issued on Regular Records sub-label Boomshanka Music as a precursor to their album One Blood, the now sought-after 12" sports characteristic artwork from Mambo visionary and Mental As Anything co-founder Reg Mombassa. Instigated by Sydney selector Ben Fester, this Efficient Space reboot arrives fashionably late to Woodstock's 50th anniversary but just in time to help soothe universal division.

Tracklisting:
A1 Wonder Us - Haitch & Rhabdomantic Orchestra
B1 Wonder Us - Haitch & Rhabdomantic Orchestra (Renegades Of Jazz Remix)
SPECIAL REMARKS: 7 inch single
Once upon a time "Miss Avocado" made her way to the Alps in Italy. Unsuspecting, this trip brought a lovely surprise into her life:
while visiting the Rubedo Recording Studio in Turin she stumbled across a dusty tape named "Wonder Us". It was hidden behind an Ampex AG440, a vintage reel to reel recorder that was actually previously owned by the Maestro Piero Umiliani himself (yes, true story!).
Miss Avocado fell in love right away, and decided to take this hidden gem to our basement.
We listened to the song again and again, and we were literally blown away: solid afrobeat rhythm, psychedelic guitar riff, astonishing brass section and the Nigerian voice of Hector Edwards aka Haitch.
On top of that, we put this undiscovered jewel in the hands of Renegades Of Jazz, well known in the underground scene as an expert in fusing jazz and black music with breakbeat elements.
The result is a tasty 7" inches called "Veggie Tales Vol. 2"!!
We'll hope you enjoy as much as we did.
Buon appetito!
Edition of 300 copies, coming with stickers!!
Pressed on high quality wax (55 gr.)
Made with Love by Little Beat More

Short info:
„Gianmarco Liguori has created his own fascinating niche in music which exists at a
place where jazz, soundtracks and improvised art music intersect … mesmerising,
sometimes eerily ambient … grounded in electronica soundtracks, experimental Miles
Davis of the Seventies, slightly funky Eighties jazz-rock with a nod to minimalism and impressionism … Albums by Liguori offer the indefinable and stand at some distance from just about everything else going on in New Zealand music.”
Graham Reid, NZ Herald
Duga-3, composed and produced by New Zealand-based multi-instrumentalist Gianmarco Liguori, was originally released in 2011 in an edition of 200 copies. The album quickly sold out, with original copies
sought after by collectors and fans of Murray McNabb and Kim
Paterson (who appear on the LP), both pioneers of jazz rock in New
Zealand in the early 1970s.
Co-producer Murray McNabb (1947-2013), keyboardist with legendary NZ jazz rock group, Dr Tree in the
1970s, recorded his album Song For The Dreamweaver with ECM artists
Ron McLure and Adam Nussbaum in New York (1990), and had performed with the
likes of Don Cherry, Ed Blackwell, Charlie Haden, Joe Henderson and Sam Rivers. He
was also a top-tier composer/arranger for film, television and radio.
Vital Sales Points:
Third ‚solo‘ album by NZ composer/multi-instrumentalist Gianmarco Liguori, with compilation of earlier material. Features contributions from Brian Smith (Ian Carr’s Nucleus, Keith Tippet, Centipede) and Kim Paterson & Murray McNabb (Dr Tree). For fans of Spiritual jazz, British Jazz, experimental electronica, Library music.

Roman Flügel presents: Sister Midnight!
What started as a party series that saw Roman inviting friends and favorites is turning into a full-fledged label adventure now. Shaped to be the vehicle for old and new Roman Flügel music alike, unreleased surprises and previously released sure shots from the archives, it’s the first time after his involvement in the seminal Playhouse and Klang label universe, that he tends to such an enterprise himself - with the help and support of Running Back records.
Now, the journey of Roman Flügel’s own Sister Midnight label starts with the valuable Tracks On Delivery series. Originally released on the third jewel in the Playhouse crown (Ongaku Musik) from 2000 to 2002, it’s a meditation on and contemplation of techno. Remastered, recut and repackaged as a triple vinyl edition with the addition of two previously unreleased „Patterns“. Pristine sound design, hypnotic wizardry and dry then architecture let all of them appear as if they haven’t aged a day.
Or as Roman says himself:
“I’ve always tried to push myself into new territories since I started music production. Those new territories can surely be achieved by the endless possibilities of inspiration, chaos and will power. At the time of the production of my Pattern series as under the name Tracks On Delivery I was highly inspired by some of Andrew Weatherall’s Techno sets while visiting London for some of his Blood Sugar Parties. Tracks On Delivery is unthinkable without the crude ‚germanic‘ mixture of Detroit labels like Jay Denham’s Black Nation and Weatherall’s own UK Techno imprints like Emissions Output. The Pattern Series, back then created for the Frankfurt based Ongaku Musik label, and now I am very happy to be able to release 15 original Patterns along two unreleased Patterns on my own Sister Midnight label.“

Shortinfo:

DJ Minx’s sound is tasteful, the kind that only a veteran producer can achieve. Drum/pulse heavy guttural beats, that somehow seem to latch onto your ribcage and shake it to death with every single pulse. Everything is interconnected in a rhythmical way and it has an almost ‘Tribal’ nuance to it. This music harks to the essence of what House music is, in its truest most primitive form. The music is predominantly created with the rave experience in mind. You can tell it was made by someone who has spent years playing in clubs - you can actually visualize the crowd responding to subtle changes that although distinctive, never distract your ears too much from the overall groove of the tracks.

André Uhl - Are You With Me?
Retro future past explorer. Ultraromance, hazy desire, a whiff of nostalgia. Excitement, confusion, and disenchantment. Internalization leads to alienation. And the cognition that everything can turn into a straight up joke after a while. So »relax and implode«… The second full-length album of Berlin musician and futurologist André Uhl invites the listener to a sonic adventure with high emotional impact. Eleven songs are carefully crafted like sculptures in a swampy landscape. Warm, gritty, and viscid, the unique sound aesthetic leads the path through the dusty twilight, breathing down your neck, providing comfort and disturbance at the same time. The sound material was recorded in a church during André’s two months long artist residency in a monastery in Alsace, France, where a specific set of microphones was used to capture the unique reverb of the nave. Additional material was recorded in Philadelphia, New York and in André’s Berlin studio. Field recordings play a central role in the album, defining the mood and building the rhythmic foundation for all the compositions. Other elements were produced with a wide range of different analog and digital instruments. A powerful lead of a Roland Jupiter 6, the warm organ of a Moog Opus 3, the quirkiness of a circuit-bent Casio PT10 – or the clicking of an electricity meter in an apartment. »

This music was composed for SKALAR, an audio-visual kinetic art installation by light artist Christopher Bauder & Kangding Ray SKALAR is a large-scale art installation that explores the complex impact of light and sound on human perception. Created by light artist Christopher Bauder and musician Kangding Ray, this monumental artwork is a reflection on the fundamental nature and essence of human emotions. By combining a vast array of kinetic mirrors and perfectly synchronized moving lights with a sophisticated multi-channel sound system, SKALAR offers an audio-visual narration of radiant light vector drawings and multi-dimensional sound in enormous pitch-dark spaces. SKALAR is an intense journey through the cycle of basic human emotions. Everchanging tonalities trigger the full spectrum of emotional experiences using light, sound, and motion. The feelings of awe, surprise, exhilaration, and anticipation of having one’s senses overwhelmed are created, explored, and repeated in cycles throughout the piece, providing a collective, yet highly individual emotional experience. Light and darkness as endless cycles of day and night define our perception of time and influence our emotions. SKALAR is a central piece within light artist Christopher Bauder’s body of work, reflecting his deep fascination with light. In this gigantic installation, light is treated as a solid material that can be dimensionally sculpted and shaped, evoking abstract emotional associations. Intertwined with the tireless exploration of textures, rhythm, and sound design by musician and composer Kangding Ray, the silence of darkness is filled with iridescent forms of spatial light and sound. The original composition is spatialised in 360° over a 12 channels sound system, this stereo version has been mixed and mastered to convey a similar sense of space.?As of the release of this record, SKALAR has been presented in Berlin (Kraftwerk) in 2018,?in Mexico City (Frontón) in 2019 & in Amsterdam (Gashouder) in 2020. The BPitch family are pleased to announce the arrival of a new member of our team, as Berlin-based pro- ducer Amotik join us with his Daya EP. Amotik has been self-releasing his music for the past couple of years, dropping several EPs and his debut album. His minimalist, hypnotic take on techno is mesmerising and it caught the ear of BPitch boss Ellen Allien some time ago. It didn’t take long for a strong connection to be made between Amotik and the label, resulting in his first appearance with us. Daya contains four powerful cuts, with undulating low frequencies and nuanced composition designed to target mind, body and spirit...

Carl Finlow has been one of the most singular voices in electro for over two decades. From the records he makes under his given name to his numerous collaborations and alternative monikers, Finlow's music is suffused with playfulness and imagination. Silicon Scally is the most prolific of Finlow's alias projects, and on Dormant, the third Silicon Scally release for Sheffield's Central Processing Unit, Finlow constructs four pieces of thrillingly futuristic broken-beat electro.
From the opening cut 'V Electro' to Dormant's closing title-track, Finlow's production is incredibly detailed here. These tracks never stand still, their little cells of synth and percussion always evolving. When combined with some stomping drum programming, the final result is an EP which has that rare balance of endless danceability and genuinely innovative production. It's the sound of a master creator letting loose while also managing to keep everything in the pocket, a marvel of moving parts.
Dormant's tone is set from the first booming beats of 'V Electro'. The track's dense mesh of dystopian synth nodules will have you thinking of the nastiest, scuzziest Unit Moebius tune - if the aliens came to take you away, 'V Electro' is what they'd be playing as they beamed you up. Following track 'Bode' tweaks the vibe of 'V Electro' in a couple of key ways, jacking the tempo up to around 140 bpm while also incorporating some funk-flexing organ stabs which give 'Bode' the flavour of a Herbert production blasted into hyperspace.
Dormant's B-side kicks off with 'Proximity Sensor', a cut whose steady drum pulse and chunky bass motif take us back to the very earliest days of rhythmic machine music - Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode and the like. Mind you, the track's slinky synth lines are pure Drexciyan machine-funk, a vibe which is kicked into overdrive on Dormant's eponymous closer. Finlow's most intense production on the record, 'Dormant' is a polyrhythmic whirl which completely sweeps you up, leaving you no choice but to submit to its devilishly danceable impulse.
After a few recent drops which have expanded the sonic world of Central Processing Unit, Silicon Scally's Dormant EP is a reminder that the Sheffield label still does circuit-frying electro better than anyone else out there.
RIYL: Jensen Interceptor, Unit Moebius, Drexciya, Assembler Code, James Shinra

Disco Bits are back with another party time 45.
Cannon & Mirrorball are in the edit suite once again re-touching and consensually grappling with funky old 70's grooves and late nite club accapellas to bring you the heat that your record box has been needing.
A - Hot Lovin' (Dont Stop Dont Quit)
On side A they they serve up some peaktime Studio 54 realness mixed with a bit of late 80's style hip house.
This is Cerrone meeting Sergio Mendes uptown, Saturday Night, whilst Chali 2na and his posse bumrush the show and grab the mic.
B - Shack Attack !
On the flipside the boys funk it up with some never fail drum breaks from the Disco Shack, vocal snatches of a houseparty classic and a swathe of brand new instrumentation.
The result is a jam is so dope you'll get a contact high by un-sleeving the wax.
Ain't no party like a Cannon & Mirrorball party, y'all !

Dimensions Recordings are very proud to welcome the legendary Charles Webster with the first track from his first major solo album in two decades, 'Decision Time'. This first single 'The Spell' also features a remix from Burial and the vocals of Ingrid Chavez.
Operating in house music since the mid '80s, Charles Webster is revered as something like the producer's producer, spoken about in the same breath as Larry Heard or Ron Trent amongst the DJ cognoscenti, releasing music over the years under 30 different pseudonyms with over 500 remixes.
After moving to San Francisco in the late nineties, he created an album under the alias Presence entitled 'All Systems Gone'. The "pillowy" sound design of this classic is cited as a key influence on the music of Burial. For this track, Burial has paid a further tribute, contributing a rare remix, additionally to a dub mix from Charles. This track also includes the words of Prince muse Ingrid Chavez. who famously wrote the spoken word poetry in Madonna's 'Justify My Love'.
'Decision Time' is Charles' first major solo record since 2001's 'Born On The 24th July', and features an array of artists from a number of different eras, guises and genres that Charles has been involved with over his career, including Shara Nelson, Terra Deva, Sio, Thandi Draai and Sipho.

You know the score by now, a ridiculously weighty minimal house beat married with a head turner of a vocal sample to get those lockdown minds melting. That combo has been nailed once again, with another melting pot of sub bass goodness and a classic vocal you never thought you’d hear in this way.

Giorgio Records is really proud to present the first official reissue of the experimental project GAG, from 1983, which includes two very different songs. Flyin’ Bolero is spacey and hypnotic while P.T. Dance is lively, and perfect for disco nights. Unknown and obscure, these two tracks are cataloged as Italo Disco tracks but go further. As always, Giorgio Records enriches the reissue with two remixes. Flyin’ Bolero has been entrusted to Armonics, Bari producer and great artist. P.T. Dance to Kid Machine.

During the last 5 years Herrensauna has become one of the most esteemed spaces of Berlin's queer underground. Showcasing a sound between experimental sonics and heavy techno in an open and intimate club setting, the collective has launched a batch with some of the most influential artists of the new generation of techno such as residents SPFDJ, Hector Oaks and co-founders CEM and MCMLXXXV. With Tresor as their main home on a monthly basis, they have expanded their vision internationally with showcases at clubs around Europe and key appearances on Boiler Room as well as an upcoming Herrensauna Takeover with the 4 residents B2B to close the UFO1 stage of Dekmantel 2021.
Now Herrensauna are set to kick off their record label presenting music by the underground talents they have been supporting in a series of vinyl EPs. The first installment includes tracks by in-house resident Cadency aka Hector Oaks, Copenhagen's Fast Forward member Sugar on the A side, and the duo of Peder Mannerfelt & Par Grindvik aka Aasthma featuring London's Dale Cornish as well as Historical Repeater, the collaborative project of Copenhagen-based producers Ctrls and Solid Blake, on the B side. While on artwork duties is Berlin-via-Porto multidisciplinary artist Mauro Ventura who will create a painting for each release.

B1 - Zoot Module (Johnny Aux Remix)
B2 - Thru The Shutters
PBR Streetgang return to their home imprint after a brief hiatus with possibly the strongest release on the label to date and a heavy remix from cult producer Johnny Aux.
'Zoot Module' is a moody, low slung slab of Electro with haunting riffs, holding your sonic gaze front and centre.
The EP’s title track, 'Sendeturm' is named after the tower atop a very special lookout directly above the Love International festival site. The beatless piece, a melancholic ode to a lost summer in place of beauty.
On the flip Paranoid London member Johnny Aux turns out his signature rough & raw dirtbox sound that burrows its way under your skin. A true Electronic Body Mover. And closing the B side out 'Thru The Shutters' was imagined as a last track on the early hours of Sunday morning dancefloor but could just as easily be a blissed out home listen. Depth and space run through every track.

Mannequin Records is elated to present a double-LP compilation of the Dutch industrial-experimental heroes Doxa Sinistra.
Preciously selected by the expert ears of Frank Brinkhuis, head of Trumpett, "Universo" is spanning from 1982 to 1988 through their entire discography.
Doxa Sinistra was formed in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, early 1982. On the strength of live performances at Paradiso and Ultra venue Oktopus, the two piece band was invited by Trumpett to record an album in the Freakowitz & Einstein Studio in Den Burg on Texel. Armed with their Korg MS-10 and Korg MS-20 synths they took the ferry to the West Frisian island, and spent a week recording in the legendary Trumpett HQ. The result, the debut cassette Via Del Latte, was released in June 1982. Just months later band member R. K. kidnapped the band name, formed a new duo and played one live date. After that the project fizzled out.
Until early 1984, when Trumpett and Doxa Sinistra received an invitation from Italian cassette label ADN to record a new album. The invitation was accepted and Doxa Sinistra Mark II was born. Conveyer Belt, recorded between June 1984 and February 1985, appeared as an ADN/Trumpett co-release in August 1985.
After the move of the Trumpett Studios to Amsterdam late 1986, Doxa Sinistra started demoing a new album in the Summer of 1987. California based Undergroud cassette label Ladd-Frith were keen to release the ultimate results. Recorded early 1988, Newsflashes, the group's third and final album, was released as a Ladd-Frith/Trumpett co-release in the Summer of 1988.
Limited edition of 300 copies.

Geins't Naït returns to Offen, this time he enlists Scanner (living experimental electronics legend , Robin Rimbaud) to join him in his land of loop. These two veterans have clocked up many combined decades of experimentation between them, and this their first jointly composed material, has the feel of wisdom at work. It's a huge pleasure for Offen Music to release this special record.

It's been six years since Starion's incredible "Mind Bender EP" (RL09) circulated our orbit - a masterpiece seemingly beamed from a utopic late nite discotheque on a far-away star cluster, and one that immediately promoted the then Manctalo rookie up the ranks of the Red Laser hierarchy.
Subsequently dropping primo synth sizzlers with Tron-like precision via the label's V/A EPs, the producer returns with four more particle-splitting bangers for our nocturnal delectation.
Quintessentially Manctalo, 'Altered States' captures the producer's Streford-based, garage-cum-studio humming with activity. Encircled with everlasting chord progressions, excitable drum patterns and a plethora of star-studded synthesizers, the tracks glide through Starion's humble quadrant with a deep, guided desire to touch our hearts and power positive interactions.
'Mind Funk', with its spark plug percussion and intense squelch washes euphoric, gated vox through its shadowy, amorphous, electro-charged circuitry; leading us with trepidation into the vast unknown. Key title track 'Altered States' ionizes its surroundings with a charged and uplifting synth array containing a whole multitude of messages and motifs to decipher in the dance.
In one inspired moment Starion explores the archetypal realms of electronic disco through a colossally robotic rendition of 'Spacer Woman' before 'Condo Cruise' finally, ensures that Red Laser devotees have a brand new, radium-studded dancefloor gem to digest when the discotheques are open once more, its heart-tickling sequences and end-of-era majesty showing us a positive path thru the New Normal...
Housed in a limited risograph sleeve designed by Manchester artist, DJ and musician Glen Cutwerk it's another carefully mined nugget of Manctalo heritage humans and their AI-upgraded incarnations will enjoy for many millennia to come.

KAYYAK is part of the Hekaya Collective, based in Zurich. They started organizing parties at Club Zukunft, the Homebase of Kalabrese. Kalabrese became friend and mentor and started supporting the young talent Kayyak. And when he came up with two funky song-scetches Kalabrese was thrilled and the collaboration started. The A-Side „Make No Time“ has a strong afro-like guitar theme and a driven melodic bassline on top the famous rumpel-groove. A positive happy ride. On the B-Side the duo gets deeper and create a fantastic late night jam. The duo sings „Loose your fear and find your partner, make your way to relaxation“ while the groove gets more and more hypnotic, Kalabrese sits on the drums and finds a way of relaxation without losing the focus on the steady beat.

Selva Discos keeps broadening horizons. Its next release celebrates the start of a new series called Novaterra, this time focused on showcasing the music of contemporary Brazilian artists. First up is Zopelar, known not only for his work with the anarchic-techno-punk act Teto Preto but also for the project My Girlfriend and his solo LP, both on Apron Records. Novaterra vol. 1 by Zopelar is a mini-LP featuring 6 tracks that range from the introversion to the extraversion. In one hand you have an A-side banger like "Be Together", with its addictive looped-sample, and in the other, you get the laidback interlude of "Modo Avião", which sounds like one of those MF Doom's instrumentals – and between both, you will find a whole spectrum of music where you can experience the duel between super crispy beats (a signature in Zopelar's work) and the richness of melodies and harmonies that he's able to knit stitch close to perfection.

Young Italian duo Reform return to Second State with their latest release, four tracks of innovative, hard-hitting and unusually sophisticated techno.
The throbbing kick and trippy synths of “Close Encounters” opens the EP, with a foreign, clipped vocal and breaksy jungle elements adding further interest and mystique. “Stance”, meanwhile, is a straight-up stomper packed with ricocheting percussion, rubbery synth blasts and disorienting pads, all crying to be heard in a club. “Mind Control” demands to rain down on a crowd at a festival, too. A lean, nimble build steadily escalates into an irresistible, shuffling beat boosted by shifting, bouncy synth patterns and an unrelenting forward momentum. The pair’s unusual knack for blending disparate elements into something atypical but completely danceable is perhaps best demonstrated on “Horse Riding”. The drums are tribal, the stabs are acid-like, there’s a gauzy filter laid over the top, and tickling hi-hats, but also an undeniable thump commanding bodies to move.

As the pandemic continues to put a halt on clubbing as we knew it, techno dons Pan-Pot have adapted their sound to suit these uncertain times. The dancefloor focus remains, but on their latest EP, there’s a restraint and delicacy to the tracks that reveals yet another facet of the duo’s creativity, and innate understanding of what their fans want to hear right now.

Ethimm scratches the pop, does a pirouette and then takes another direction. Both on stage and in his productions, the young producer from Zurich shows his unique style. After three releases on the cult label Light of Other Days he now shows himself more danceable and club-oriented than ever before. ‘Don’t Go Away’ has already been approved in clubs several times. At peak time the track shows all his power. On ‘Lies (feat. T.A.V.)’ Ethimm speaks directly to us. His pitched voice perfectly intertwines with the beat and the melodies. The slow groove of ‘Island Jam’ is peppered with a penetrating bassline and playful sound snippets. This EP is for DJs and home listeners alike.
Produced by Elisabeth Thimm. Vocals on A1 by T.A.V. Bass on A1 by Reto C. Gaffuri. Vocals on B1 and B2 by Geraldine Roth. B1 written by Warren Doris, Deirdre Heart and Elisabeth Thimm. Mixed by Hannes Bieger. Mastered by Reto Muggli.

Kodama feat. LX One - No Title
Our third release of the decade comes from another new signee, Barcelona-based Kodama, who teams up with Dubstep OG LX One for the heavyweight A side.
Cronauer
Uplifting bells and pad harmonies pave the way to a gritty bass assault, striking with the power of a meteorite coming from outer space. Cronauer unfolds as these contrasting yet complementing parts engage and interwine, driven by heavily-swung hard-hitting drums which turn the track into a club weapon.
Piranha Plant
Time to turn page and enter the next chapter: Piranha Plant is a sublime oneiric journey of lush harps and heavenly bells, joining into masterfully composed layers of melodic bliss and. New sections keep introducing instruments like new characters in this dreamy fairytale.
Dorsia
A brisk intro catapults us straights into Dorsia, a high-energy introspective roller which joins two sides of Kodama's multifaceted output. Melancholic melodies dance over a powerful bass & drum synergy, until the second drop comes in with stomping weight, beautifully delivering our fix of bass-Nirvana.

René Pawlowitz presents himself in many different forms; whether it's as Head High, EQD, Wax, WK7, The Traveller or more recently as Hoover - he consistently, and without any fuss or hype - produces some of the most effective, qual-ity techno you can find on the planet. The Shed alias is usually reserved for his best work.
With this in mind, it really is a special event to announce this amazing new EP from Shed on Tectonic, showcasing 3 distinctive and highly effective techno cuts.
'Try' takes a broken-beat techno rhythm for it's spine - reminiscent a little of the 2008/9 dubstep/techno crossover peri-od. Tension is set with dissonant elements pulsing around swooping subs until we are saved by the heroic pads that ease in, building ever upwards to a lush finale. Close your eyes and be transported back to the rave.
'Box' is a darker, more percussive affair - claustrophobic and industrial. 130bpm 4/4 distorted kicks set the stage as frantic drum machine hats and claps crash about heavily reverb'ed ghostly samples.
Lastly we come to 'Sweep', a hypnotic bleepy roller with a bass heavy presence. As the riff loops up and over, drums build and a dissonant synth part creeps in. The not-quite 4/4 kick drives you ever forward with a gentle stumble as rat-tling hi hats flair about over head. Great finish to a great EP.

A1 - Keep It DXy
A2 – Miranda
B1 - Parkour!
B2 - Parkour! (Medlar's Timbale Dub Mix)
Two hot property New Zealanders under the guise Manuel Darquart take the WOLF reigns for their debut on the label. Drawing influence from classic Italian house labels such as Irma, Antima and Palmares (alongside having that South Pacific sea breeze ingrained in their souls), the duo let loose on a three track EP that could have easily been plucked straight out of a ‘90s Key Tronics Ensemble stash. WOLF mainstay Medlar completes the package with a percussive workout remix of ‘Parkour!’, dubbed, rerubbed and full of that timbale goodness.
With a string of releases on the likes of Coastal Haze, Childsplay and Infinite Pleasure, Manuel Darquart transport you to a distant island life where corona’s claws have yet to cause chaos. Opener ‘Keep It DXy’, sees sweeping pads caress the shores as bumping basslines mix with punchy stabs and dreamy toplines.
From the beach to the jungle, ‘Miranda’ is a stomp through the undergrowth, the tropical landscape calling out at every turn, as synth melodies dance around steamy bass arps and streams of percussive hits.
Flip it to the B for ‘Parkour’, a proto-house gem that captures that ‘80s feel with gated snares, thumping kicks and synths galore, before Medlar closes out the EP with a ripping whirlwind of percussion for his remix of ‘Parkour’.
