Just Be has been riding a wave of success in the past year and further cements this new incarnation with next installment for the mighty Crosstown Rebels. Favouring the potential of techno as a vessel for shock and awe, Curiosity Records emerges with a focused intent and a powerful opening statement with this EP from one of the unsung heroes of French electronic music, Arnaud Le Texier. Having followed his heart throughout his career and always seeking to unlock the creative potential of minimalism in music, Arnaud has traveled far and wide both as a DJ and a producer before reaching this point here, where he heeds the call of long-serving Parisian upstart Skat in providing tracks for his new label. CRY001 stands strong as a testament to the principles that make techno exciting, avoiding the popular trend of industrial brutality in search of a more spiritual message within the intense drum patterns and synth arrangements. On first impressions, “Loudness Contour” may seem to stalk into the realms of functional monotony, but the long lead in is merely a cunning ruse crafted by Arnaud to make the steady crescendo of his track all the more thrilling. By the time the searing synths come flailing in, full submission to the music is the only possible response. “Lowenthal” meanwhile takes a more delicate approach, laying down a soothing bed of dubby aesthetic before building urgent rhythmic constructions on top on a quest towards an unknown destination. It’s a sound steeped in mystery and allure even as the drums hit hard and the bass throbs out relentlessly. If the intention of the label needed to be any clearer after those two tracks, the inclusion of an ambient mix of “Loudness Countour” should assuage any doubts you might have. Embracing the creative fruits that techno has borne in its finest moments, Curiosity is an imprint more concerned with the emotional and intellectual dimensions of mechanical electronic music, letting the ‘hardness’ of the track follow as the spirit dictates.

Debukas follows up his two critically acclaimed EP's with another superb emission of underground electronics with a pop sensibility. His way of approaching electronic music been compared to the likes of John Talabot, Caribou and Hot Chip in the way he mixes his pop and underground influences. And with a history that ranges from top of the pops appearances to twisted Detroit electro and with a grounding in classic house and techno, he's suitably placed to explore such wide ranging influences from Arthur Russell to Yello to Model 500. People might wear their analogue credentials on their sleeves these days, but for Debukas the music making process has always featured miles of wires, unreliable synths and hardware drum machines, which can all be seen on his youtube tribute videos. He also brings this same process to his original material, mixing his voice with his machines during long jam sessions which form the basis of his music. Reach Out Feel is one of his more club ready tracks, exploring his housier leanings, but retaining the trademark Debukas musicality . It comes with a very handy acapella of Reach Out Feel. Love Plant cuts up his vocals into a signature leftfield house groove and builds up to a more jackin' finale. Satellite is one of his most beautiful laid-back tracks with the nearest thing to a full vocal we can expect from him, the way he extracts real emotion from his synths on this track is breathtaking.

t's with great pleasure that we offer up our next release from Dez Williams. One of our favourite producers of recent years through releases on standout UK labels like SCSI-AV, Acruacree, Ai and many others, we had noticed an absence of new 12"s since his storming doublepack on Patrick Pulsinger's Cheap imprint in 2008. So to put things right, here's an end to the Dez Williams vinyl drought - 4 tracks of bonafide Holyhead magic to rock the floor. Starting with the melting frequencies of 'Underground Persistent', acid is in control. Like an Emmanuel Top and Kosmik Messenger track if they'd ever collaborated, this combines swingy 808 drums and masterful Detroit strings to a searing acid-line that keeps going and going. Switching things into more straight-ahead acid territory on A2, 'Untitledacid 6' has pretty much one intention and that's to jack hard. Perhaps one of Dez's heaviest techno tracks to date, it's a perfect snapshot of many hedonistic nights spent at The Orbit throughout his formative techno years. 'Freedom' on the flip is a dense techno workout that joins a strong looped vocal and distorted percussion to swamping sound fx, in a rough but funky way. This time an expert pad progression brings the track to an unexpected but fitting finale. Finally, and showing what a complete supremo he is where dark floor-friendly electro is concerned, Dez turns in a blistering cut of sci-fi electro with 'Courtesy Call'. We could have made a number of records with the amount of great electro tracks that Dez does, but in this case we just picked our favourite of the bunch. Light In The Attic presents The Bobby Whitlock Story: Where There’s A Will, There’s A Way collecting the first two early 1970’s solo albums by Memphis singer/songwriter/keyboardist/guitarist Bobby Whitlock. Presented here together on CD or on two seperate LP's. Bobby Whitlock (1972) and Raw Velvet (also 1972) are star-studded (George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Delaney & Bonnie), soulful albums from one of rock music’s key unsung figures. Check! Whitlock’s story is a remarkable one. Born to a hardscrabble existence, raised in abject poverty, abused by his preacher father and was sent out to pick cotton in the fields. Moving from one railroad town to another, Whitlock was quite literally from the wrong side of the tracks. Yet thanks to his singing and piano playing, music was Whitlock’s escape. Winding up in Memphis, Whitlock hooked up with Stax Records, who signed him as the first white artist to their new pop label HIP. But it was soul music, not pop, that was in Whitlock’s heart – and his break came when Delaney & Bonnie asked him to join their band, The Friends. Following Delaney & Bonnie from Stax to Elektra Records, Whitlock found his life starting to intertwine with ‘60s rock royalty. Delaney & Bonnie took him on tour with Blind Faith, where Eric Clapton was impressed with Whitlock’s playing and the camaraderie he saw in The Friends. Soon, Whitlock joined Clapton, Jim Gordon and Carl Radle in Derek & The Dominos, the crack unit that backed George Harrison on much of the seminal All Things Must Pass and recorded the classic rock album Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs. During the recording of those albums, Whitlock tentatively made his first steps as a solo artist. Though drugs were already beginning to tear Derek & The Dominoes apart, Whitlock was able to call on some high profile friends (and “Friends”) to play on his album, including Clapton, Harrison, session bassist Klaus Voorman (John Lennon, Carly Simon, et al), drummer Jim Gordon, Chris Wood (of Traffic) and others. “I really loved my first record and everything that was behind it,” says Whitlock now. “And for the love that was brought to the room by everyone each time we recorded. I know that you can hear it in Eric’s solo on "The Scenery Has Slowly Changed.” When Bobby presented his album to Atlantic Records they rejected it, citing a different vision for his debut record. So Bobby bought himself out of his contract. Soon after, The Dominos split up following troubled second album sessions. Bobby just kept moving: first back to his rural home in England, then to France, where the Rolling Stones were recording Exile On Main Street. He found a deal for his debut album (via producer Jimmy Miller) and a follow-up too. That second album,Raw Velvet, featured the Edwin Hawkins Singers, the L.A. Symphony, Eric Clapton, Jim Gordon and Bobby’s new band members: Rick Vito on guitar, Keith Ellis on bass and Don Poncher on drums. Andy Johns produced both Whitlock solo albums. Andy was the recording engineer of Exile on Main Street and later produced Television’s Marquee Moon. Pat Thomas, the reissue producer of this CD, told Bobby Whitlock during their first conversation about reissuing these recordings: "Your first two solo albums are the missing link for all this seminal music that has been on CD for years; Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, All Things Must Pass, Mad Dogs and Englishmen, Dave Mason’s Alone Together, and Delaney & Bonnie and Friends ’On Tour’ with Eric Clapton.”

Bruno Pronsato presents his new project, Archangel - his first solo release in 2 years. This single highlights the developments that have occurred in the Pronsato sound in that time, and features Bruno himself on vocal duties. The A side is Bruno's cover version of Gary Numan's classic, Metal. Although initially faithful to Numan's original, the song is ultimately deconstructed and formed into a new structure. On the flip we find a live version of the album track Momentum Of The Farce. With a running time of 11 minutes, it traverses a number of moods - melancholic, brooding, sensual and celestial. The Archangel LP, The Bedroom Slant will be released on Foom in the new year.

Swiss producer Ripperton returns to present his new studio album “A Little Part Of Shade” due for release June 2013. The musician’s second full-length album will further deepen his impressive catalogue of work and follow the 2010 critically acclaimed “Niwa” seeing his return to Joris Voorn and Edwin Oosterwal’s Amsterdam based Green label. “A Little Part Of Shade” uses sympathetic touches of club synthetics to underline fluidly written and playful melodies. Ripperton gained popularity as a producer with his Lazy Fat People project releasing on high profile labels such as Border Community, Planet E, or Wagon Repair; he rapidly grew as a solo artist with an almost endless run of key releases on Green, Liebe Detail, Connaisseur, Music Man, Systematic, Dessous and remixes for Radiohead (“Nude”), Laurent Garnier (“Controlling The House”), Ellen Allien (“My Tree”), Beanfield (“Tides”), Max Copper (‘Egomodal’) labeled him as a refined studio producer, adding a newfound sense of introspection to electronic house music. Since the release of Niwa in 2010, Ripperton has been busy working on this album – combining traditional song craft with a more familiar rhythmical style. “A Little Part Of Shade is about the part of shade that everyone has. It's about the private garden; it’s quite the opposite of Niwa. It's an inside garden. It can be bright or dark or in the middle. It can destroy or help you…” If you weren't convinced of Raphaël Ripperton’s compositional talent by his debut album, his sophomore release will do the trick. The LP’s multiple programmed rhythms loosely mimic a more natural world and see’s him work alongside a variety of artists including Hemlock Smith, the multi talented writer, graphist and photographer Van Hai, and Germain Umdenstock, whom features on the opening lead track “A Little Part Of Shade”; providing guitar melodies over his carefully constructed landscapes. Drawing on the collaborative talents from his own highly respected independent Perspectiv label Ripperton’s track “Black Wall” features the vocals of Masaya and succeeds in demanding an almost attentive listen. “A Little Part Of Shade” conjoins emotional forces with Rippertons fascinating use of soundscapes and contains smooth instrumentation throughout before closing with the achingly soulful “Spike” featuring Hemlock Smith’s tender vocals. The thirteen musically broad and emotionally deep tracks that are included in “A Little Part Of Shade reflect Rippertons approach to electronic music production, song writing attitude, and the sense of poignant delivery that extends far beyond the purview of techno clubs.

Always surprising us with their A&R skills, Hot Creations are back with another outstanding release, this time from rising star Greg Pidock, who is soon to release his debut album on the label. ‘Blame Game’ is fresh and beautifully crafted with deep vocals and warm melodies, building effortlessly into sonic bliss. On remix duty, Minus favourite Hobo picks up the pace to deliver two on point reworks aimed steadily at the dance floor. A formally trained artist, Greg received his BFA in Intermedia & Cyberarts when he was 20. Introduced to Jamie Jones and Lee Foss in 2012, Pidcock was quickly signed to the label and has spent the last year working on his debut album. Studying in Montreal he soon became the Creative Director at Montreal’s legendary Cherry nightclub, DJing alongside legends. This led to the formation of Bad Pony Records with Tone Depth of Bedrock fame - a process, which firmly cemented his goals of creating music and art. Currently the resident DJ at the renowned Velvet Nightclub in Montreal and working with Turkish composer, Mercan Dede, as a sound engineer, Greg Pidcock is about to explode onto the international scene with his blend of passionate, sexy, heavy house. Member of the Minus family since 2007, Joel Boychuk aka Hobo very much holds his own identity. With an early Detroit influence he has explored his own form of techno expressionism: sometimes dark and abstract, others more sample heavy and groove based. With a lot of time spent on his recently released album ‘Iron Triangle’, Hobo now plans to focus on DJing after being an almost exclusively live performer for 6 years. Both original and remix have been featured heavily in Jamie’s recent sets..

Hailed as 'the most requested record ever' by London's Phonica Records, re-release of this brilliant track on International Feel, complete with a 2013 Techno Redux and the glorious New Beat of 'God is Gracious'. 180 gram vinyl. Played by everyone!Feb 2009, Punta Del Este, Uruguay….. International Feel is born out of the frustration of not been able to get a deal for the Rocha single (yeah, I know we've heard that too many times already), but what actually inspired Rocha and therefore the label ? One track: 'Boutade' by Mugwump. The best chunky Slo Mo dance track ever made (or if you prefer, the 'best dance track of the noughties' - copyright Bill Brewster). We loved it so much that Mugwump were the first remixers we contacted to reinterpret the Rocha release. Four years (and some grey hair) later, we've come full circle and are (as our American cousins say) very 'stoked' to be able to announce the re-release of this brilliant track on International Feel, complete with a (already road tested by Weatherall & Smagghe) 2013 Techno Redux and the glorious New Beat of 'God is Gracious' (and for all the zero and one merchants, it'll also be available digitally for the first time with an added dub of the new 2013 version). Originally released on Ewan Pearson's elusive Misericord imprint and played by everyone from Mr Scruff to Optimo, Tensnake to Dixon and the aforementioned Weatherall & Smagghe, the tension, joy and energy rush created by the filmic strings and monstrous Carl Craig-esque bassline, has made 'Boutade' the track that refuses to lie down and die (and hailed as 'the most requested record ever' by London's Phonica Records). Resident Advisor have described Mugwump's output as 'the most diverse catalogue in the current house music field' and Pitchfork simply reviewed their music as 'timeless'. Whatever the description, the reality is that Geoffroy Mugwump and Kolombo have created a legacy of non-formulaic music fusing together their love of 80's pop music, ebm, dub, industrial & new-beat influences with disco & techno and have released their music on a variety of worlds leading dance labels, from Kompakt to R&S, Cocoon to Gigolo as well as Permanent Vacation, Eskimo, Endless Flight any many others.

They met the last winter at Jose´s studio in Madrid to bring out this 4 tracks ep. Here you can find a full Ep with 4 raw cuts made with machines. "Empty Wallet" and "USS cygnus" are two acid and intense tracks, perfect for the more sophisticated dancefloors. "Crawlspace" and "We Live This Life" are two slow and minimalist hypnotic gems in the way of tetrode and downbeat. "The Inner circle ep" defines perfectly the musical discourse of the label, but it´s also the declaration of intentions of two producers who live for music.

The Smugglers Inn is an independent radio show/podcast which is produced and presented by Daniel Berman aka Red Rack'em/Hot Coins every second Wednesday at http://www.myhouseyourhouse.net. The show has become a unique testing ground for new artists and productions and many of todays highly rated 'new school' producers benefited from early support on the show. Continuing the tradition from Voyage 1, the last track feels like a gateway to the next edition.Munichproduction maestro Bartellow contributes a track which is kind of hard to classify. A beat driven intro with a hypnotic vocal refrain transforms into a heads down bassline driven raw house affair and then segues back to the deep for a mad outro. One for the heads!

'After years of playing unsigned tracks and watching them get picked up by other labels, I thought it was about time I represented the radio show on vinyl in the form of a series of releases aimed at the dancefloor. I try to support new and less hyped artists on the radio show, so each release will feature a single track from four different producers. Each show usually has quite a few unsigned tracks in it and the best ones go into the cut for what goes on each record. So I have no idea what will be on the releases - it's totally down to what I get sent and which tracks are the strongest. It's a really exciting way to do a label and I don't have to wait for someone to write another 2 good tracks to release a record by them, which is pretty cool.'

Following on from the success of Artifacts ?The Way It Do/We Trapped?, the somethinksounds cartel rolls on picking up even more steam this time calling on the untapped talents of Lokiboi who serve up the insatiable ?Late Reaction EP? which features a collaboration with Love Fever darling Citizen. Having appeared previously on Kolour Recordings as Klic (aka Medlar) & Lokiboi, this is his first solo appearance and his first
opportunity to demonstrate his unbelievable studio skills. Up first ?Late Reaction? rattles into our consciousness; constantly shifting this one never
lets up for moment and expert drum programming techniques ensure it has total control over the listeners emotions throughout. Intensity levels drop for the intro of ?Help Yourself? as slower kick drums pulsate and shuffling percussion rolls along as though it is being heard from the room next door. Atmospheric pads path the way for incredible smooth garage beats to roll along with snapping snares and chopped vocals giving the track direction. ?Love Saves The Day? invites man of the moment Citizen to get in on the action instantly bringing his brand of reverbed, garage-house soundscapes which is much complemented by the percussive arrangements of Lokiboi. Excellent vocals and soaring pads take the
whole thing to a match made in dancefloor paradise. Rounding off this superb release we have ?Keep On Loving Me Dry? which builds and
builds to a dramatic climax before descending into possibly the biggest breakdown on the EP. All Killers, No Fillers.

Unxpozd presents the 5th project from Dj Aakmael, “Deep Theories EP”. Up first is “Dearest One” featuring the vocals of JMellodees, putting you in a setting of an old smoky jazz club (ala Billie Holiday’s time). The buzz on this track is already heating up, and will be sure to bang at a party in a large club environment or small and intimate setting! “Untitled 94” is Aakmael taking you back to the original deep house sound of the early 90’s, with a phat bass, mello keys and tricked out solo that is simply irresistible! On the flip side, “School Old 2” is a follow up to the first School Old on Unified Records. We are very happy to welcome our old friend Pablo Valentino for the second release of 2013. It is no coincidence if Pablo & Dairmount hooked up nearly 10 years ago when Pablo started his imprint Faces, dedicated to leftfield Black music influenced soundscapes rooted in Hip Hop culture. Both sharing a strong sense of underground activism, a deep love of the Black Music tree and a lovely obsession for futuristic sounds, it is no surprise that these two naturally decided to join effort under the Room with A View umbrella. Pablo's beatmaker science & love of sampling have always been highly appreciated by Phil and it didn't take him long to fall in love with One at first listening. The track displays perfectly the dusty roughness of heavy disco grooves that Pablo likes to give to his House productions. Low key harmonies & catchy Soul & funk samples are no strangers in Pablo's world. True to a spirit reminiscent of the famous Raw Cuts serie of Motor City Drum Ensemble, it is again no surprise that Valentino has been a long time friend & collaborator of Danilo Plessow. Both through their Hipsta Wonkaz production duo (on Faces & Ubiquity) & Pablo's long running curation of Danilo's work on Faces & MCDE Recordings, both friends paved a unique & personal path. As an A&R, Pablo has pushed the envelope with other unique sound scientists such as The Revenge, RedNose Distrikt or Grooveman Spot. In recent years, Pablo created the Creative Swing Alliance duo with Steven Joyce Ames with who the Strasbourg based omni-man signed brilliant works & remixes on respected labels such as Tsuba, Wolf Music, City Fly, Endless Flight, Quintessentials or K7. Next up, Pablo's monster original received the magic treatment of Amsterdam's finest Detroit Swindle. One of the hottest dj & production units of the global House scene confirms here why labels like Freerange, Saints & Sonnets or Dirt Crew went bananas to sign their early work. The Dutch duo has made a spectacular & fast rise and is already in high demand all over the planet. 2020Vision mark their 250th release with a very fitting project from the originator of the label Ralph Lawson. Lawson presents a selection of classic mixes and unreleased gems produced alongside his original production partner Carl Finlow. Many tracks were made 10 years ago but listening to them today will be the first time you (or anyone else) will have heard many of them. They will also be new for a whole new generation of DJs and music lovers. Montreal dream pop duo Footprintz have already captivated the world with their magical debut album on Visionquest ‘Escape Yourself’ and next single ‘Fear Of Numbers’ is about to keep the fire burning.
