This limited edition of 500 comes on an arousing Pitch Black 10" vinyl, housed in heavy cardboard old Stoughton tip-on jacket.
Described by The New York Times as "a surreal cinematic tone poem that pays slavering homage to Italian giallo horror films of the 1970s", Amer finds its influences in the films of Dario Argento, Luis Buñuel, or Mario Bava and makes for a truly visceral cinematic experience, thanks notably to a perfectly curated soundtrack compiling some of the best songs from cult Italian movies of the past.
Amer includes 3 songs by the great Stelvio Cipriani, well known for the marvelous soundtrack of poliziottesco movie La Polizia Sta A Guardare (1973) whose main theme was reborn in 2007 on Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof, as well as music for countless cult spaghetti western and giallo movies. He received a Nastro d'Argento award for best score for The Anonymous Venetian (1970).

nights get ever colder. The label owned by Paris stalwart D’Julz welcomes back an old friend in Anonym, the man responsible for BCR006 and BCR021 returns for a four-track outing which includes a remix from Orlando Voorn. Sultry atmospherics and masterful production are evident throughout this crisp new addition to the Bass Culture catalogue, another instant classic from the Detroit badboy Anonym.The first of the four tracks on this EP goes by the name of ‘Castaway’, and its effortless groove will have you drifting away to a desert island the second you hear it. As a slightly obscured vocal repeats ‘castaway’ over and over, you’re lulled into a dreamlike state. Simple and highly effective, its progression is subtle and invigorating. Right after that we have Dutch supremo Orlando Voorn taking charge of the remix and pushing the track deeper into celestial territory with flashes of synth that transport you out into the cosmos. The atmosphere of the original is expertly retained, with a steady pace and cool, mellow vibes throughout. Flip the record over and there are two more killer cuts. First we have ‘Doin It To Ya Body’, which keeps things minimal and straight to the point. Bright disco strings lie at the heart of this track, slowly weaving their way in and out of the background while the drums and rugged b-line keep your feet moving and head bopping. Lastly, ‘Wara Coco’ offers more hypnotic vibes drawing you with its dainty melody, dancing around the top end, while a mean bassline throbs away, deep down in the low end. It’s an strong combination and finishes off the EP in style.

Caleb Cornett aka Amtrac has been pushing his creative limits as a producer, DJ, musician and vocalist since 2008. Through this release he skillfully creates feelings of elation and euphoria sharply contrasted with a moody and melancholic ambience. Next up Creme Organization is a return by regular artist Lake Haze. Following his Natural Insight EP earlier in the year comes Intergalactic Communicationz, four more fresh tracks of acid, techno and electro that is brilliantly evocative. The Portuguese artist known as Goncalo Salgado also please son labels like Unknown to the Unknown and is a real hardware master. At The Gates ov Futron is a turbulent lack track with zipping acid and a cacophony of percussion that is visceral as well as cinematic. Drexciyan Aquarium is, as the name suggest, an aqueous electro track that slithers and slides through an expansive underwater world. Poseidon's Dream then offers a more rugged electro groove that is backed by heavenly pads and a real sense of loss in the synths. Last of all, Intergalactic Communication closes out this far travelling and intergalactic EP with a sci-fi deep house track that is filled with light, 909s and a sense that the end of the world is coming.

ESHU Records hits release number ten with a new EP from the in-house production collective made up of Jocelyn Abell, Ivano Tetelepta and Daniel Lekatompessy. Fraktur features six tracks of stripped back house and techno that are all atmospheric and heady. Opener Winter Track is a smooth and rolling dub techno number that is grainy and economical yet hugely absorbing thanks to its circling synth details and woody drums. Creating Moods is even more expansive and spacious, with gently swirling pads enveloping a soft, broken rubber kick drum. The title track is another expertly distilled, dry and heady groove with its frayed edges and warm analogue feel, then 'Hello' really flips the script with over driven Jeff Mills kicks and intergalactic synths bring a spooky sci-fi feel to proceedings. Yorubaland is then a cosmic ambient interlude with fax tones bleeping and blipping as lazy pads smear out in the background and last of all Core comes on strong with more quick and slick intergalactic techno carrying you off to some distant planet. This is another faultless EP from this fine Dutch collective. Pressed on 180 grams vinyl.

Abyssal is a trippy and atmospheric cut, the kind of deep techno that can transport you into a second state if dropped at the right time. Kevin Saunderson's KMS imprint is a label that should require no introduction. The motor city label has been a Techno mainstay since it's inception in 1987. Numerous Detroit luminaries have released classic after classic on the labels hallowed grooves over the last 25+ years and it's influence is still felt in contemporary dance music today. The idea behind the KMS "Origins" series is to shine a light on the lesser known cuts in the KMS vaults as well as the classics that have given the label it's legendary status during it's lifetime. Kicking off EP #2 is the man himself, Anthony 'Shake' Shakir here utilising his Schematics alias to deliver to us the storming almost hardcore-esque 'Shock therapy' from 1992. This cut is rough, raw and is intent on troubling your bass-bins with some low frequency and breakbeats sounding like it's coming straight from the D via Essex! Heavyweight. Following Shake we have Dwayne Jensen with a slamming cut from 2000, lifted from a white label only release this is true school Detroit techno, perfect for dark basements, taking no prisoners! Autofac's gonna be a new one to you, but the names behind it—Juan MacLean and Marcus Lambkin, a.k.a. Shit Robot—most certainly are not. The DFA house, disco, and techno veterans have long been friends, sharing bills around the world, vocalists on records, engineers on mixing boards. For a while now, they've also been collaborating in the studio, and it's with tremendous honor that we get to be the label that presents the world with the fruits of their labors. Souls on Ice is a snarled, fierce, aggressive four-tracker, all of it recorded live, which gives it a distinct loopiness and patience. The EP starts off on a bumpin' techno tip and slowly drifts towards a spacier, groovier house sound. The always trustworthy Sound Carrier label steps back into the limelight to hit us with another fix of quality techno from monsieur Chris Carrier. The Parisian producer never stops making music, and he presents three new extra terrestrial cuts here on this latest instalment from his excellent label. The story here is about two powerful intergalactic beings who discover that they have been lied to by their leaders - there are no magic mushrooms, just a forest of poisoned ones. They have laid down their arms to discuss this despicable turn of events… Track one is a rolling slice of analogue techno with acid licks and squelches bubbling away at its core. Named ‘Cat’s Eye Nebula’ it sucks us in to an interplanetary vortex, with cosmic FX transporting to the interior of a spaceship, while the beats give the feeling of a bumpy ride into the cosmos. This is followed by the more composed solemnity of ‘Galactus’. Shuffling beats slide over a funky bassline, the outer space theme continues with Carrier implementing a series of manipulated sounds which convey the feeling of futuristic machinery, blinking dashboards or robots communicating with one another.

On August 22nd Rebekah returns to the fold with her second EP on Soma, following her 2015 debut 'Confined Heart'. Staying true to her UK techno roots, the Berlin based artist delivers three monster cuts that exemplify her ferocious sound. Title track 'Anxiety' has Rebekah firing on all cylinders as raucous synth sequences pulse through wild percussion, never seeming to let up and certainly taking no prisoners. 'The Riddle' continues with similar energy levels as Rebekah infuses pounding rhythms with straight up percussive elements, before taking a perfectly controlled dive into deeper elements - comprising short blasts of subtle pads that give a more emotive side to the track. '19 Grams' rounds of the EP with a little more subdued start, but in true Rebekah fashion, the pace quickly intensifies as shattering hi hats and saw tooth sequences blast in, effortlessly held together by beautifully gliding pads that give a perfect structure. Rebekah delivers yet another excellently crafted EP that defines her sound as a producer and also a DJ.

With 45 years in the DJ game under his belt and having played endless gigs all over the world during that time it's safe to say Mr.K knows exactly what he's doing when it comes to the re-edit thing! With unprecedented access to TK's vaults Danny has been turning in some stellar reworkings as of late and the cuts included on this latest instalment keep the quality sky high! The Ritchie Family's sunny 1977 b-side 'Summer dance' is a roof raising soulful stormer of the highest degree! 100% Disco heat, a record that would have gotten numerous spins in the 'real' Disco clubs and dance-floors upon it's release. It has it all - soaring string arrangements, driving percussion breakdowns and of course, top shelf vocals from Cheryl, Cassandra and Gwendolin. With those super crisp drums upfront in the mix, punctuated by orchestral stabs this edit is perfect for the DJ's, and will be a welcome go-to cut in the booth! Don't snooze... Wild Honey were a soul trio from Texas, here their 1976 number "At the top of the stairs" - a deep vocal track - gets the Mr.K treatment with Danny editing the vocals out and giving us a rolling, string laden stomper. With a respectful, slight rearrangement he manages to bring a new slant on this already well loved underground Disco jam pushing it into the stratosphere! Pretty heavy stuff indeed, not for the faint hearted but for the dancers! This one is sure to ignite any club lucky enough to hear it bursting out of the speaker stack! Another essential edit!
