Klik Records is proud to welcome a new addition to it's roster, 9West. The 9West project made its first steps back in 1998 in Thessaloniki, Greece, by two music lovers above all, Tikis and George. They Both love the deeper side of things with many jazz and soul elements, maintaining a raw and kicking sound. Their free of crippling nostalgia music wins you over with consistency, tension, and dynamics as well as a sensibility, one would usually expect from house music. 9West pursues an unexacting fusion of quantum jumps and tradition - including effortless melodies and hook lines. Counting more than 45 releases so far on labels such as Dessous, King Street, Liebe*Detail etc and continuous appearances in Europe, US and South America, their full length album "Heart Shaped Moon" is due for release on early 2015 while their first ep coming from it "Decay Ep" including remixes by David Durango and Fog will be digitally released the first days of December.

The record kicks off with 'No Matter (Where Are You Are)', which embodies the primitive hypnotising rhythms that Lando's releases in the last 18 months have been known for. Listeners are then dropped into the deep end, with the dubbed out, subaquatic groove that is 'Posse Form'.
On the other side of the record (and the galaxy) you can find 'Abaraxas II', the new national anthem of utopian Neptune to close out the EP. It seems that there is an overabundance of artists today who have reached a level of success from their work, but very few of them come close to the level of output and range as Butch. Equal parts producer extraordinaire, DJ, gentleman, and comedian, Butch has everything deserving of a star in todays dance music arena. Which is why, we here at Watergate are extremely pleased to present him as next in line for our Watergate Mix Series. In twenty three tracks spanning an hour and twenty minutes, Butch guides you through a lucid dream in a technicolor world where time ceases to exist. Reminiscent of a turn of the century Danny Tenaglia, Butch displays his prowess as not only a tastemaker, but an artist encompassing a boundless spectrum of intention and interpretation. The journey begins with the washed out ambience of Jonas Kopp's '55 Dias' as the groove of Octex's 'Liagon' slowly surfaces establishing the foundation for which the mix will follow suit. Slowly but precisely, Butch moves into a lush landscape of utopian sounds with tracks like Redshape's 'Goom' and Minilogue's 'When Sadness Releases Joy Arises' before taking a turn to the heavier side of dance floor pandemonium. Almost obliviously, you find yourself locked in a hypnotic state as the sound of Truncate's remix of WestBoy's 'Green Illusion' and Polar Inertia's 'The Last Vehicle' lash out in proper "four to the floor" techno. The mix would be incomplete without two cuts from Butch himself, and this is where the mix dives into the psychedelic side of club music. Both tracks 'Spirit', exclusive to the mix, and 'Thai Cubensis' with his partner in crime Hohberg are psilocybin laced expeditions into the outer reaches of deep space. As with any psychedelic experience, it must come to an end. And, this is where your shaman, Butch, eases you back down from your journey with a plush and opulent cloud of warmth. With a compassionate touch and soothing tone, you are gently laid into the sonic opera of Weltwirtschaft's 'Maud'. As an atmosphere unlike that of a ride through the cosmos slowly fades into silence and the adventure ends, you are left with a feeling of complete content and gratification. Watergate 18 is a demonstration of a master's touch and we could not be more thrilled to have had Butch as our guide.

Australia's one-man storm of tropical funk Tornado Wallace returns to Beats In Space Records with the acid-flecked two-tracker, Kangaroo Ground & Ferntree Gully. Where Desperate Pleasures, his first EP for Beats In Space, distilled post-punk and electro influences into sun kissed sub-equatorial tones, Lewie Day's new 12 secretes lysergide and sweat from deep within a zero gravity dance bunker. 'Kangaroo Ground' shares the buoyancy of its spirit animal namesake, but grinds in high-gear with a shredded 303 line and monstrous groove more akin to a possessed croc. The label is run by Martin Nowakowski and the output is centered around Swedish producers, with a focus, albeit not an exclusive one, on west-coast based individuals. BROR is a house and techno record label.The first release is produced by Nowakowski himself. It is his first release since his latest output (April 2012) on Berlin based Room With A View with which he released already 2 EP's & got a close collaboration since 2010.BROR01 is divided into two sides with different energies, whereas "Dryg" is a four-to-the floor dark production with an epic breakdown. New York, early 90's, the haydays of the New York and Jersey clubhouse! With labels such as NuGroove, Nervous, Freeze, Strictly Rhythm, Henry Street Music taking all the spot light, there is Jovonn working on a small but sensational catalogue of music that somehow gets overshadowed by the popular releases on the mentioned labels. The honest productions, jazzy melodies and playful vocals (rooted in gospel) were taking things into a more musical, more spiritual way, lacking gimmicks or dispensable samples. For the real diggers, the true lovers of House music Jovonn always was a name to watch, a producer of some of their favorite NY house tracks, tracks that have a raw edge combined with a sincere human touch and pure underground house vibes. People such as Rex resident Dj Deep was a huge fan, and also collaborated on couple later productions with Jovonn. Slowly he started getting recognition from europe which resulted in a handfull of records on European labels such as Distanc e, Coco Soul and Estereo. Now after almost 25 years since his first release the man's small discography on his own Goldtone label and Emotive records stand out with his unique musical personality. More then 20 years after their original release dates these tunes are still very relevant and stand for many things we love about house music! We are happy to offer this selection of his hard to find early works remastered by Alden Tyrell and pressed on fresh clean high quality vinyl.

Dutch producer Mohlao is next up on Shipwreck offshoot Deep Sound Channel with a four track EP that showcases his specialist dub techno style. It follows on from top releases by Albert Van Abbe and Mike Parker, and means the label starts 2015 in style. Before now the Dutchman has released on labels like Meanwhile and Other Heights, as well as working as VC-118A on Lunar Disko Records and Tabernacle. This four track EP kicks off with 'Cladistic Mutation', a sparse underwater soundtrack with only the gentlest suggestion of rhythm, lots of reverb and tiny little details that float by like micro-bacterial debris. 'M2' is a more beat driven dub track but is still way below the surface: the kicks are smooth and hunched over, the chords are smeared out in all directions and the atmosphere is lo-fi and grainy. On the flip, 'Grain' gets even more energetic, with firm techno kick drums setting a stern tempo as all sorts of aqueous details and spacious effects peppe r the groove. There's a heavenly nature to the pads and an industrial texture to the percussion that makes this a cerebral but physical affair from start to finish. Lastly, 'Neurowaves' closes things down in blissfully dubbed out and horizontal fashion, with large sweeping pads, tweaked filters and evocative little details all placing you firmly under water. Just like the label name suggests, this is seriously deep, comforting and escapist music for the heads.

Formerly known as Al Tourettes, and half of R&S's ALSO (alongside Appleblim), Alec Storey unveiled his Second Storey project in 2013. 'One Sound' is the second single from his debut LP 'Double Divide', and intertwines Second Storey's electro and bass music influences over six restless, bouncy minutes. Brand new 'Layer Lock' is equally frenetic, but echoes IDM in its micro-melodies and unconventional structure. Two of Storey's idols take up remix duties. Luke Vibert provides a sampladelic version of 'One Sound', adding splashes of colour in the finest cut 'n' paste style. Meanwhile Cristian Vogel transforms 'Layer Lock' into a shape-shifting head-nodder whose rhythmical shifts delight and confound in equal measure. The 12" is cut to 180g vinyl by Matt Colton, and limited to 500 copies.

Primal is an Icelandic electronic music producer and Dj based in Copenhagen. The past few years, Primal has been involved with an electronic music project by the name of Kúra, featuring the Icelandic singer Fanney Osk. Kúra, which became a widely recognized electronic act in northern Europe, offered an opportunity to explore new areas, ideas and genres. He eventually got introduced to the underground techno society by Just This crew. Primal was then inspired to evolve his soundscape in new directions, resulting in a previously unexplored, darker universe with hypnotizing melancholic rhythms and heavy bass-lines. The man behind Primal, Brynjar Bjarnfoss, was born in Reykjavík, Iceland where spent his early childhood years. Since moving to Copenhagen at an early age, the music was always on the agenda. As a young adult he quickly got recognition in the Copenhagen underground electronic scene. He rapidly became a re-occurring act at various well renowned events, such as; Roskilde Festival, Distortion, Stella Polaris, STRØM and numerous clubs across Europe. He is currently featured as a newly implemented act of the Milano based Just This movement, and has recently cofounded the Just This record label.

Steve Lawler has been at the top of his game for close to two decade now having been DJ’ing in Ibiza, London and further afield since the mid 90’s, 2006 saw the launch of his ViVA Music imprint, which over the years has welcomed many of today’s tastemakers onto the roster. To date Steve retains a heavy touring and release schedule, with his ViVa Warriors brand spanning the globe and regular output coming via leading imprints in the industry like Hot Creations, where he delivered the ‘House Record’ EP in 2014 and here he adds another driving force to his affiliations, namely Leftroom. Title cut ‘Call Of The Cuckoo’ opens up the two tracker and in typical Steve Lawler fashion we’re treated to an amalgamation of rugged bass tones, penetrative, unfolding drum programming and cleverly chopped vocals. The end result is a powerful dance floor cut as you’d expect from such a seasoned producer.On the flip side Lawler offers up ‘Can’t Stop’, which lays its focus on a heavily swung drum groove, chuggy bass sequences and wandering arpeggio licks to round things off on a raw, up-tempo tip.

Based in Berlin, Slow Life is a multidisciplinary collective of Spanish and Italian creatives led by percussionist Sergio Moreira. His production first caught the ears of Phonica via a trilogy of highly impressive 12”s on the group’s Slow Life label, all of which were instant hits and flew out the shop. For this release, Moreira teams up with Xinner for three of the EP’s four tracks and the results are a spellbinding journey through deep, hypnotic Techno, broken beats and submerged ambience. The artwork is once again by acclaimed visual artist Jack Featherstone, the designer of a number of sleeves for Border Community, Electric Minds, Warm and of course, Phonica.

Foremost minimal techno producer Barem is next to serve up a compelling three track EP for the ever more essential Rhythm Cult label and comes hot on the heels of EPs from Deadbeat and Greenville Massive amongst others.As well as being a key artist on the Minus label, Barem has appeared on Leftroom, Mindshare and Moon Harbour, and is a revered live performer who has headlined everywhere from DEMF to Mutek. Of course, he is a stylistically diverse producer who shows us his well honedproduction chops here once again.First track 'Vanda' is awash with beautiful melodies as synthetic, intricate drums form a liquid groove down below. Both minimal but colourful, groovy but organic, it's a charming track with plenty of summery warmth imbued within.Next up, 'Phaius' is slightly darker and more late night, with its nagging sine waves, skittish percussion and flappy drums.Alien sound effects scurry across the face and wooden hi hats add another micro-groove with which dancers will easily relate.Finally, 'Lycaste' gets all shimmery and shuffling with a soft edge cloud of hi hats, rolling drum fills and snares all coming over in jazzy fashion. Off time hits, synth blurts and Villalobos style details all characterise this cerebral track, and a killer, classic house bass line and wandering piano line both tie the whole thing together in style.This is an EP of superb techno that is stuffed with charm, emotion and organic textures that really makes you feel something whilst drawing you to the dance floor.

My attempt was to glue everything by recording the master onto a nagra tape machine, then back to digital. Please try to make it sound as if everything is coming out from the same source (like a band playing). Getting rid of the muddiness in the bass but still keeping it firm and solid in the mid bass range whilst maintaining the drums punch.`

Revered UK producer Laurence Blake has unveiled his new alias Citizenn, a nod to his maturing sound and harder-edge approach to production. Along with this new name, comes a forthcoming release on 2020Vision, 'BE'. BE features the vocals of former Azari and III member SYF, and an exclusive remix from Hercules & Love Affair. The original mix of BE comes through with Citizenn's much loved retro-futuristic sound that's overlaid with SYF's spell binding vocals. Hercules & Love Affair's remix follows, and maintains the darkness of the original before taking a playhouse-style approach that's riddled with wonky, cosmic hues. Rounding off the EP is Citizenn's Warehouse Dub Remix - a tough, and atmospheric techno edit, forged in the depths of the world's most renowned techno haunts including Fabric, Panorama Bar and Ibiza's DC10 - and a firm influence on Citizenn's musical direction. A further remix from Forrest and 2020Vision's very own Ralph Lawson will also feature on the digital release. "BE was put together over a number of months during a hectic touring schedule, Cedric (SYF) and I were messing around with some sounds and after a few hours we had the makings of the track. I wanted to do something a bit more emotive something that could be listened to at home and in the club. Andy (Hercules & Love Affair) coming on board for the remix was like a dream come true for me. I remember seeing them on the first UK tour and have been a fan ever since. Hope you enjoy this package as much as I enjoyed putting it together" says Citizenn. Citizenn is an artist with many strings to his bow. Having already made massive impact with slew of releases on discerning labels including Madtech and Love Fever Records, and subsequently named DJ Mag's 'Best Breakthrough Artist' of 2013, BE takes Citizenn into 2015 with his strongest ammunition yet.
