One of the finest examples of the mid-late 90's minimal sound. Aggressive, spare, funky...much like Robert Hood's seminal masterpiece, Minimal Nation LP. Unlike much of the mindless, meathead bangers of hard techno, this single is tastefully understated. Taking cues from early g-man (and perhaps less directly from Basic Channel) this record doesn't oversaturate with a barrage of hard beats...it holds back and leaves the listener hypnotized and wanting more. This is hard techno that works. It jacks; it throbs; it fills the dance floor. It's smarter than the rest, and it isn't afraid to show its detroit roots. It's everything that the idiom of hard techno should be and rarely was able to achieve. Whilst most will know Dave Maclean as the drummer, producer and de-facto leader from the Mercury-nominated, UK four-piece Django Django, Maclean is first and foremost a DJ and record collector. Maclean's eclectic tastes have long been looking for a suitable outlet and today sees a long-awaited dream finally come to fruition, as Maclean announces the launch of his record label Kick + Clap. Kick + Clap's debut release comes courtesy of fellow Scot producer Neil Landstrumm, with an EP entitled "Knights of Shame". Well known for his early Peacefrog Records' classics such as "Brown by August", Landstrumm has been navigating unchartered musical territories since the 1990's. Circling mostly around experimental techno, Landstrumm is also know for exploring grime and dubstep, long before it was the done thing and has released nine albums across legendary labels such as Peacefrog, Tresor, Mosquito, Planet Mu, Sonic Groove and his own imprint, Scandinavia. With very little music made available to the public Lido established a cult following amongst the high profile DJs that have been lucky enough to seure his unreleased remixes to play in their live set. These unreleased remixes - with their signature intro four notes acting as a craftsmen stamp (the same notes illustrated on the cover) - have led to numerous bootleg live recordings of the remixes; giving an almost folklore-eque mythical quality to them.
This EP - led by the single of the same name - is the first release to feature original music of Lido's. It is being released on Pelican Fly, the cult Franco-Belgian label that introduced the world to the likes of occasional Lido collaborator Cashmere Cat. It strays away from thetraditional four to the floor of electronic music, instead highlighting hip hop influenced beats, walls of synth and heavily treated vocals, all with the ominous specter of pop know how lurking in the shadows.

Pulshar return to Desolat with another stunning long player filled with a selection of sumptuous productions that further demonstrate their grasp over intimate and deeply ethereal electronic music. Vinyl version of 'Blood and Mathematics' features the originals and instrumentals via download code, and is perfectly timed for when the days begin to draw to a close. Barcelona based duo Sergio S. Vidal and Pablo Bolivar have cemented the Pulshar name and reputation as proponents of dub-heavy, soulful and at times psychedelic electronic music. Their first Desolat long player 'Inside' received critical acclaim and effortlessly bridged the gap between the dance-floor and the home listening environment. They returned to Desolat in 2013 with a deliciously deep and trippy EP in 'Different Drum', and now continue their relationship with the label with 'Blood and Mathematics'. Pulshar continue their affair with Electro, Instrumental Hip-Hop, Dub and Psychedelia. They have distilled this to create a distinctive and soulful brand of electronic music and the new Long Player represents where the artists are in 2014. All the tracks are written and produced by them, with only Guti as a featuring artist on 'Running Away'. This has resulted in them cultivating a traditional 'album' experience where one track effortlessly segues into the next and takes the listener through a range of emotions across the record. After a cataclysmic entry into the Electric Deluxe fold, AnD follow up the 'Kundalini EP' with more pummeling dancefloor works on 'Dark Matter'. Over a slew of dancefloor artillery for labels such as Repitch Recordings, Black Sun Records and Horizontal Ground, this production outfit have continued to refine their distinct and menacing sound. Melding steely industrial sentiment with their own toolkit of analogue- fashioned tropes, AnD have crafted an unforgeable signature which has allowed them to freewheel through techno's many tomes-and beyond-without ever straying too far from the mark. It explains why D'n'B nestles with ease amongst the blistering 4/4 material; and suggests there could well be more fluctuations to come. But this time it's a pretty no-nonsense affair. On the A-side "Cosmic Strings" is as delirious as any stone cold Tresor classic. Then on the flip, "Photon Visibility Function" coils dark and brooding atmospherics round the most malevolent concoction of AnD-isms. This one has been made to split the club right open, paving the way for the duo's debut full-length album, 'Cosmic Microwave Background', to fill the void this Fall. Expect more cosmos-themed compositions both of and well beyond AnD's sonic system, due out in October. The sleeve artwork has been created from a series of paintings by AnD themselves, reinterpreted here by EDLX's own in-house designer Jan Willem van de Baan into a set of industrial-evoking pieces inspired by the sound and aesthetics of the EP. The album "Cosmic Microwave Background" will be out on October 20th, serving as the final high point of this year's Amsterdam Dance Event, where Electric Deluxe is hosting a showcase on Saturday in the legendary industrial building Gashouder with AnD finishing off the night.

But another cataclysmic compilation this is not. 'Cosmic Microwave Background' is a far more composed and calculated affair, which sees the AnD sound assiduously recast into long-player format.
The analogue bleeps of "Particle" and grainy textures in "The Epoch of Recombination" are some of the fluctuations that temper AnD's debut album into a solid listening experience, meanwhile exposing some of the pair's fluid and intuitive working process-with themselves as much as with their machines. Juxtaposing production precision with more freeform composition, 'Cosmic Microwave Background' as an opus is as intriguing and unexpected in its entirety as it's individual parts-for the vinyl collectors, reordered here into a double LP of functional floor material and more experimental pieces.
Not that the album is quite so black and white. There are anomalies such as "Non-Sky Signal Noise" which tread the velveteen grey area in between, with truly rewarding results. On 'Cosmic Microwave Background' AnD have found their door between worlds, and flung it wide open.
The sleeve artwork has been created from a series of paintings by AnD themselves, reinterpreted here by EDLX's own in-house designer Jan Willem van de Baan into a set of industrial-evoking pieces inspired by the sound and aesthetics of the LP.

Summer is here and sees us returning with true colours, daylight all night long, and a deliberate breath of fresh air.
Norwegian-Italian producer Pelifics makes disco, infused with a strong homage to 80’s pop, and a little dash of 90s house. The result is melodic, inspiring, kicking, danceable music that leave the listener oscillating between sounds of youthful nostalgia and the future sound of disco. After a three-year production hiatus, Barcelona's techno kingpin Paco Osuna returns with not only a new release for Richie Hawtin's Minus label, but also his debut LP, entitled Long Play-eight precision tracks, purpose-built for the dance floor in his inimitable style.Long Play is a meeting point of Paco Osuna's past and his future. The product of nearly 20 years behind the decks from early residencies at Amnesia in the late '90s, to an integral role in Hawtin's current ENTER. events at Space and a push forward for techno, house, minimal, and tech-house, Long Play's sleek and exuberant tracks are thread together by Osuna's always-addictive basslines. "The bassline is my obsession," he says-the key ingredient to making picture-perfect techno and playing incredible, unflaggingly energetic DJ sets. After taking a lengthy break from production to focus on his busy performance schedule, Osuna worked on Long Play in fits and starts. But the album really came to life after the recent birth of his son. "I had this really crazy idea to record him crying or making noises, and put it in a track. Thank god I didn't do that," he says with a laugh. "I knew I needed to do something serious." What resulted was this suite of dance-floor tracks that succinctly represent what Osuna's fans have come to expect from his legendary DJ sets. "Soft, hard, funky... I'm very open-minded, and I like to play everything," he explains. Gentle congas and a swerving bassline make "Let's Dream" the "perfect track for an afterhours," Osuna contends. It's followed by a divebombing bass synth that punctuates the hearty tech-house thump of "Only You." "Nop Games" brings to mind Osuna's slick minimalist moments, and "Gate Scape" fills the gaps in between with a quickened pace with upbeat drums. He continues in that vein, with the insistent tick of "Pluss Bass" working for more frenzied moments. "Because it's super-crazy and people go crazy when I play it," he notes. Elsewhere, Osuna takes a restrained detour on "Longituden" for a low-slung dance-floor workout, and on the darker "Away From Home," he points inward for a more cerebral transitional track. Lastly, "Ying Yang" starts off sleek and laidback, but crescendos with a burst of sensuality-the perfect way to tie these eight pieces together. Assembling these genre-spanning tracks at his home studio in Barcelona was an arduous process, which involved late-night sessions scheduled around his newborn, occasionally producing on headphones, and even moving houses, but from the bustle emerged a newfound focus. "I just wanted to do something that I can say to my son in the future, 'I made this album right when you were born, and you were my inspiration,'" he says. His duties as a new father aside, Osuna continues to balance running his Mindshake label, maintaining his post at ENTER., and producing his own longstanding Club4 events in Barcelona, all of which played an important role in the genesis of Long Play. "Playing music for other people, seeing their reactions, hearing weird sounds and wondering how the producer got them when I go back home, I try to remember how I felt when I heard those sounds, and bring those emotions to my music," he says. With a lifelong dedication to making the highest quality techno, and a passion for making people move, for Osuna, Long Play is as much a look inward as a look outward deep progressions, hard percussion, funky moods, and blissful moments of transition all coalescing into a pure expression of his modern techno sound.

With previous solo releases on Hotflush, Rush Hour & Icee Hot, it felt like the perfect time for Lando to release on his own label.
The debut Myth release from Lando is his first original release this year, and highlights his shift towards the Detroit side of techno. The lead track 'I Can See It In You' is a freaky & cavernous one, which bounces along to a demanding tension. Whereas A2. 'Altered Maze' seems to contrast that as a rolling, deeper number, but without losing the funk that Lando's sets are famous for.
The B-Side 'Purple Home' features Lando's signature work on the 909, along with a remix from the Dutch duo Will & Ink, who turn it into a big room peak time stomper with off-kilter flair.

Following the winning format of the series thus far, Part 3 boasts two slamming new remixes of classics from the vault, and two brand spanking new tracks from Poker Flat's stellar roster. Argy's "Love Dose" of 2005 marked the debut of one of the scene's most fascinating newcomers, and defined the sound of minimal courtesy of an unforgettable remix by Luciano; now getting a 2014 update, the track has been taken to by the talented duo Audiofly, who makeover its identity with their signature sleek deep tech style. Two heavyweights go up against each other next, as Joeski tackles the Martin Landsky classic "Reject"; the deep jacking soulful groove of that track is remade with a unique take on tough house beats by the Maya Records master
Providing the originals side of the 4 Jacks coin are UK favourite Mark Henning, who applies his signature dark pads to a tech house humber with a light touch on "Mad Half Hour", while Dario D'Attis provides some authentic squelchy retro funk on the irresistible "96000". Three of the 4 Jacks have now been revealed, proving again that at 15 years deep, and Poker Flat Recordings is still at the top of its game.

We here at Watergate are extremely excited to bring you our next 12" release from a close friend of the club and producer extraordinaire, Alex Niggemann. For this EP Alex joined forces with the acclaimed voice from WhoMadeWho, Bon Homme, to create an incredibly warm and beautiful journey. "Sorrow" is a masterfully crafted array of sound and emotion. While a big rolling kick and crisp hand claps drive the groove, a capricious arpeggio, warm piano chords and the smooth serenade of Bon Homme's vocals create an undeniably passionate excursion into the deeper moments one can experience on the dance floor.
On remix duties we have two heavy hitters; the one and only Deetron and Watergate mainstay Marco Resmann. Up first is Deetron and he does exactly what he does best. A massive peak time revision that keeps the emotion of the original while adding his signature touch of shimmering synth loops and huge sub bass perfect for peak time club antics. Marco Resmann rounds out the release with his rendition of "Sorrow" creating a vast and psychotropic soundscape by using echoing atmospherics, washed out vocals and heavy, chugging drums.
