One of Detroit’s finest exports is legendary house and techno pioneer, Gari Romalis, and as we enter what could potentially be a summer of love he creates an outstanding four track EP, “Black Traxx Matter”, spreading a message which scratches way below the surface, using music as a tool to share. The body of work spans across distinctive and slinky deep house energy, oozing class and emotion, notably what we have all come to love and adore in Romalis’ back catalogue. Opener “Black 2 Da Future” rides an effortlessly cool groove, brushing by in the summer breeze, paying homage to brighter days. Next up is “Black Diamondz (Africa Mix)" consisting of a tight and punchy drum arrangement, and warm and infectious sub bass. Welcoming you with open arms.

“Black Luv” is lighter on its feet than the previous tracks, a definite housey spring in its step, all of the elements conversing in sweet harmony. A cruise down nostalgia lane. “Purpose Reprise (Motivate Mix)” closes this wonderful EP, six and a half minutes of pure bliss which shifts into a pure and powerful moment when a spoken word sample enters the room, as the soft keys work their way around the message.

Real name Fernando Cappelletti, the Rosario native’s early releases arrived on AirDrop Records, followed by appearances on Esperanza before launching Savor Music alongside Jorge Savoretti in 2011. Since then the label has hosted the likes of Felipe Valenzuela, Martinez, Kastil, Marcman and Franco Cinelli whilst garnering a reputation as one of Argentina’s key purveyors of house and techno. The album’s subterranean aesthetics are present from the beginning, with mesmerising tape echoes in ‘The Real’, deep pads in ‘Trb’ and the rhythmic energy of ‘Rainforest’. ‘Geibi’ then demonstrates intricate pops and glitches before ‘In Amour’ settles for a compelling groove. ‘Flavor’ is then a percussive number with a hypnotizing appeal until ‘Faiser’ concludes the album with a punchy, dancefloor driven workout.

Jorge Savoretti delivers an array of intuitive cuts in his debut album ‘Triskelion’ this summer, the first album to land on his vinyl label Savor Music. Born and raised in Argentina, Savoretti began DJing at a young age and quickly picked up an accomplished residency at El So´tano as a teenager. Before long Savoretti got involved in the studio, dropping his debut release ‘Frozen’ on Argentine label Igloo to inaugurate a discography now boasting Oslo, Drumma, Esperanza, Lawler’s VIVa Music and Hawtin’s M- nus. 2011 saw him launch Savor Music, a vinyl imprint that has so far hosted the likes of Felipe Valenzuela, Martinez, Franco Cinelli as well as fellow founder Cape. “Triskelion is an album composed of different musical landscapes based on diverse influences that I have had since first listening to underground house/techno in Argentina in the 90s” says Savoretti on the album. “It's what I've experienced throughout my 'techno' history reflected in the present and also a new starting point of what's coming up in the future - European/American influences touched by Latin feelings.” These eclectic landscapes are vivid from the off as Savoretti instigates his album with a downtempo cut named ‘Minigang Love’ before following a dubby direction in ‘Chrystalis’. He then injects purring basslines and a dose of rhythm in the likes of ‘Jardin Av’ and ‘Lovejack’ until spectral synths and heady grooves appear in ‘Souljack’ and ‘Silb Ando’. ‘Cuban Dreams’ focuses on a stripped back approach with its subtle rimshot and tantalising hook, before ethereal house appears in the form of ‘Revolution’ to later be joined by an innovative display of synths in ‘Simple Acid’. Atmospherics and otherworldly pads are the focal point in ‘Song For Konamita’, whilst title track ‘Triskelion’ saunters along gently, until ‘Aurora Borealis’ concludes the album with a cinematic crescendo.
