Munich’s Zenker Brothers arrive on Index Marcel Fengler for the first time with Pollioni, a four-track EP that captures the unique style that has brought the duo acclaim over a string of releases for Tresor and their own Ilian Tape label since they combined their considerable production talents as a dual force in dextrous, charismatic techno. Each of Pollioni’s tracks eschew the standard four-four in favour of insistent beat patterns that service a maelstrom of rave era-indebted synths and tumescent basslines, working themselves into grooves with their own personality and once again showing the Zenker ability to forge techno that rises above the standard DJ tool style into something more characterful and lasting. ‘Night Hustler’ opens the A-side with a swinging, low-end-heavy groove that opens up for a sinister melody in the its second half. It’s followed by ‘Bias’, which builds rolling tribalistic drums around a slowly rising degraded synth line. B1 ‘Karma Lounge’ mines similar territory in the duo’s collaboration with Ilian Tape colleague Philipp Von Bergmann, before ‘Neunkeu’ closes the EP by establishing its place in the continuum with its hardcore stabs and a sci-fi acid backbone.

We are proud to present our second album “Cosmic Transmission”. In another time it felt like, only an unpredictable extreme event could change the way we choose to live together. Now it feels so crazy, it can be overwhelming, but always remember we are just a tiny micro spaceship traveling through a gigantic universe. When nothing is safe, all is possible. We are one - one love. M&D More

Not much more than a year has passed since the Zenker Brothers presented their debut EP – ‘Lion in Mars’ – on Tresor Records. The follow-up record segues perfectly between a triumphant year in the studio and in performance, and a 2014 which promises to take their growing reputation for blazing techno to new heights. ‘Stratus Phunk’ is an incendiary record, developing the ideas seeded in their first release to their fullest extent. The title track runs along the entire A-side. Building the raw acoustic sounds of wind. instruments into a rolling jam which soon becomes an unstoppable locomotive, shape -shifting in and out of smoky synth lines, tracky hi-hats and acetic basslines, « Stratus Phunk » is a vintage tune forged in the Tresor basement furnace. On the flip, « Thirty-Two » and « Vamp Like » explore the more splintered dimensions of the Münich based brothers’ work, familiar to whoever follows the releases on their own Ilian Tape label.

Techno was inevitable for the Zenker Brothers. Eldest brother Dario cottoned on first, using his family ties to Munich's infamous Ultraschall club to edge into the DJ booth as an enthusiastic teen. Following its demise he migrated to Harry Klein with the rest of the Ultraschall crew, picking up a residency in 2006 that has only just been brought to a close. It was at this stage Marco received his own electronic awakening. Inspired by a set of his brother's at the very same institution, he joined Dario there a year later. Production-wise, however, the brothers continued to pursue separate paths: Dario sewing an assortment of seeds and racking up a wayfaring collec- tion of records for labels like Frozen Border, Vakant, Time To Express and Traut Muzik. Meanwhile Marco was cultivating deep and dreamy techno on the Zenkers' own Ilian Tape stable. After years of playing and working together side by side, in 2011 they emerged in official collaboration as Zenker Brothers with 'Berg 10 EP'. Now, the Zenker Brothers are back with their first release for Tresor, brandishing a matured sound and level of sensitivity yet displayed by either before. 'Lion In Mars' is like a fresh breeze billowing through the Tresor vaults. Honing in on signa- tures from the archive and repackaging them in modern sentiment, here Zenker Brothers deliver a record that gleans through the generations to deliver a cunning symbiosis of techno future, past
and present. On the A-side "Knighthof" and "The Future Is You" offer driving vintage basement techno with a Zenker twist, whilst B-side tracks "Davin" and "Cosmilian", the EP's clattering dystopic closer, blend Detroit tones together with their respective Ilian-proven pallets.

Emerging Belgian DJ/producer STEYA shares her debut EP on IMF, becoming just the ninth artist to release a full body of work on Marcel Fengler's influential label.
The Berlin-based artist has stamped herself as one to watch since breaking through in 2022, a regular at RSO Berlin and Grelle Forelle in Vienna, she's also played Tomorrowland, Exhale, Rex Club andBasement in NYC.
Her first forays into production reinforced her quality, with 'Neon Reecho' featuring on RAW's Third Eye compilation in 2021, followed by the release of 'Elysian' on BCCO's second V/A as well as the excellent 'Prototype X' on the '10 Years of IMF' that dropped in 2022, followed by a standout contribution to the label's new HARDPROOF V/A series in 2023 with 'Trigger Me'.
Her debut EP crystalises 20 years of devotion to techno, presenting abroad palette of sonic influences formed since her early days as araver in Antwerp. At the same time, it continues the label's philosophy of pairing a next generation artist with one of the greats of the genre, with STEYA's hero Rolando featuring on her 'Dopamine EP' with a remix of the incandescent 'Things You Never Said'. Growing up in Belgium where the 'Knights of the Jaguar' was a staple childhood anthem, it was "one of her biggest wishes to have him as a remixer".
An EP borne through two years of dedicated studio time, 'Dopamine EP' kicks off with the electric title track, a gritty tribal outing marked by dynamic shifts in tempo throughout. 'Fast Life' is a slick bass-led cut with plenty of bottom-end kick before a punchy synth melody get sadded to the brew. Swedish producer Hertz - a favourite of STEYA's ("I've played one of his tracks in every set since the beginning of my career") joins the project to re-work the title track, upping the energy ofthe original. 'Things You Never Said' begins life centred around energetic rolling grooves, before warm synth rushes give it a distinct Motor City vibe. Rolando fittingly steps up for remix duties to close out the EP, delivering a masterclass in deep simmering techno, extending the original by two minutes.
"It's a big honour to release my debut EP on such an amazing label like IMF, which is very close to my heart. I poured my heart and soul into this project. It showcases the artistic direction I've developed overthe last few years and is an important milestone in my artist journey." - STEYA
"After experiencing many of her stunning DJ sets, it's wonderful to seeher thriving also as a producer. What really excites me is witnessing her continuous growth, always fuelled by her deep passion for music. So, I'm thrilled to release STEYA's debut EP on IMF, featuring three original dancefloor anthems and two stellar remixes by Rolando and Hertz." - Marcel Fengler

Thirteen EPs and several VA's make up the story of Marcel Fengler's IMF label, and the music continues to go from strength to strength. The latest addition to the release catalogue may be one of the strongest to date, featuring a generous number of individual inputs inside a six-track EP. Delivering the goods this time, Stuttgart-based Rove Ranger serves up two sublime stompers, with enigmatic London local The Advent serving up a thumping remix for the first half of this split release. Madrid's Rodiaz supplies another duo of weighty originals on the second side, backed up by legendary Scottish techno titans Slam.
Rove Ranger's 'Workout' opens proceedings energetically, revolving around a rolling acid bassline, swirling tonal percussion, offbeat licks, catchy vocal chops and crisp, driven hat grooves to churn out an impressive opening track before The Advent puts his own deeper, darker spin on it, pulling the original track around through a series of envelopes and creative modulations, giving it an entirely different persona. Rove Ranger closes off his side of the release with the breakbeat-laced sounds of 'Unforgotten', implementing endless audio width alongside pensive chords, thumping industrial grooves and hollowed-out sub-bass.
Rodiaz kicks the second half of the EP off with a bang, coming in brutal and fast on 'Space Methods' through an array of thudding drum grooves and rattling percussive toppers to for man unconventionally gripping beat structure - subtly accented with minimal melodic components to add endless character to this peak-time bomb. Slam follows up with an archetypally hard-hitting rendition, firing off a relentless assault of weighty kicks, rattling hat grooves and coarse industrial fills, leaving very little room for a breather throughout this tirade of hair-raising tenacity before Rodiaz distils the EP into a close with the groove-focused
'Output Methods', playing on detuned tonal elements alongside tribal-infused percussion and eerie pads from start to finish.

There's no denying Marcel Fengler's profound impact on the ever-changing techno landscape. A pioneer in his own right, Fengler's works have flooded dancefloors and set lists worldwide for decades, and that shows no sign of changing anytime soon. His latest work is an all-encompassing four-track EP titled "Unleashed", including a remix from sought-after Stuttgart duo SHDW & Obscure Shape.
Kicking off with the title track, "Unleashed" introduces the EP with high-octane rhythms, pulsating low frequency sonics and rave like harmonic layers. An unrelenting onslaught of fast paced thumping techno, built around long, sweeping notes, vocal injections and a piston-like bassline, this one was made for the height of the party. "Caution" is next to feature, presenting itself as a robust industrial number with harsh percussive drive and endless layers of cadence throughout the mix. Weighty yet groovy in a unique up-tempo way, its robotic vocal splashes make the perfect accomplice for its potent warehouse vibes.
"Cypher" pulls you into the second half of the EP with rattling rhythms and more gritty sweeping musicality. Exhibiting the depth in his production skills, Fengler loads up the mix with a kaleidoscope of percussive elements alongside thumping kicks, surging synths, and another haunting robotic vox before SHDW & Obscure Shape get their teeth into a signature remix. Taking it deeper and darker, the duo's emphasis on subtle progressions and increasing intensity throughout the mix with offbeat trickery and creative unpredictability make their remix of "Cypher" a certified peak-time bomb.
"It has been quite a journey with this EP, as I've been exceptionally discerning about the sound and the entire production process. My goal was to create a release tailored for the dance floor, with the right amount of energy for peak-time moments, while also ensuring a profound and well-structured sonic experience. After testing potential tracks in my DJ sets, I distilled what I believe captures the essence I want to share with the audience. Furthermore, I'm thrilled to have SHDW & Obscure Shape on board for a formidable remix. Their work carries echoes of the raw and forceful sonic textures from earlier times, which I hold in high regard. I'm genuinely delighted with how everything has come together, and I hope you enjoy it!" - Marcel Fengler

Release Note:
Marcel Fengler's IMF begins 2022 with IMF011, the beginning of a new era of the label's outlook, which will combine a focus on new talent, established remixers and a design overhaul.
Belgian artist Milo Spykers is first out of the traps for 2022, with his "Hier & Nu" EP (complete with a remix from Fengler) delivering a four-track punch of modern techno. Spyker's use of dense synths across the EP imbue his tracks with a memorable character that leaps out of the speakers.
From the jagged and oppressive leads of "Hier & Nu" to the outright anthemic riffs of "The Helicity" via the cascading stabs of "Happex", the "Hier & Nu" EP is a boisterous work of controlled chaos. Fengler's remix of "Hier Nu" extracts Spyker's synths, and with clinical precision, reconstructs them around a lean, muscular rhythm track that oozes tension.
"Milo's a very talented young producer. He's got an uncomrpimising taste in techno and that convinced me that he's both a DJ and producer I want to support. I'm really happy to welcome him to the IMF Family." (Marcel Fengler, Jan 2022)

A project 18 months in the making, Marcel Fengler presents a IMF10, a three part compilation series detailing the past, present and future of his label Index Marcel Fengler. Part 2 focuses on the warmer and more soulful side of IMF and features an outstanding array of artists making their debut for the label, all of which have a strong personal meaning to Fengler. There’s FJAAK, the exciting Berlin trio he admires for their authentic identity and honest sound, a special Shed remix of the enigmatic VRIL whose timeless productions continue to strike a chord with him, good friend Eric Cloutier who he has long wanted to get involved in IMF and of course long-time label champion Thomas Hessler. Vienna’s Arthur Robert – a new face Marcel discovered after he sent him tracks over Facebook – contributes a beautiful shimmering work to the compilation.
Highlighting this section of the project is the first AZUR track – Marcel’s new side project. He explains: “I’ve always liked to be diverse with my music, but I also don’t want to confuse people. This is the reason why I decided to give my melodic side its own identity. My music under the Marcel Fengler name will go back to its roots and be more raw and rough in production terms.”
The final digital package will be complemented by a DJ mix from Thomas Hessler comprised of tracks from IMF10.
Stay tuned for Part 3 to follow, which includes originals and remixes by Marcel Fengler, Sebastian Kramer (aka Redshape), Luke Slater, Peter Van Hoesen and more.

A project 18 months in the making, Marcel Fengler presents a IMF10, an astonishing three part compilation series detailing the past, present and future of his label Index Marcel Fengler.
After a big period of change in the career of label head Marcel Fengler throughout 2016 that naturally involved IMF, it’s time to distill the label’s vision in sonic form. IMF10 is a collection of exclusive originals and remixes created by some of electronic music’s most skilled producers, alongside contributions from rising talents who are set to shape the direction of the label for years to come.
Split into three parts to be released throughout the first half of 2018, each volume consists of six tracks and encapsulates a different tone, highlighting not only the versatile sonic constellation of the label, but also the breadth Fengler enjoys exploring in his DJ sets.
Part one explores deeper and more hypnotic territory, as the legendary Alva Noto makes his debut for IMF re-working the Fengler classic ‘Sphinx’ into a spaced-out industrial beast. DIN, the collaborative project between Fengler and Efdemin reaps an atmosphere-heavy new production titled ‘Akustikkoppler’. Scuba also contributes courtesy of his SCB project, crafting a tripped-out interpretation of Somewhen’s ‘Dain’ from IMF05. Elsewhere close friends Matrixxman (in collaboration with rising producer Riccardo Limiti) and Lucy, also join the project crafting powerful and timeless originals. Always with an eye on the future, Fengler drafts in emerging Slovenian talent Blaukoma, who impresses with the pulsing, tension-packed ‘Iris Pattern’.

Dispersion’ is an EP deep in style, talent and wonder. Embellishing the underground kudos of Berlin-based techno DJ and producer AVION, owner of the hotly tipped, and renowned imprint Crossing, Dispersion is an eclectic mix of cerebral, uncompromising and colorful techno. Title track ‘Dispersion’ is a gleaming display of spacious dancefloor beats; melancholic, yet industrial. ‘Real’ is clinical, functional techno, emulating some of The Wizard’s influential magic. ‘Inverse’ blends together a contemporary approach to sonic aptitudes, while remaining a strictly dancefloor and body orientated, while ‘Enidan’ a colorful moment of ambient beauty, plays the EP out.
It is the first release on Marcel Fengler’s regarded, techno imprint IMF in 2017. ‘Dispersion’ is an ambitious, and unique EP, from a true underground –and mysterious – talent. The EP’s style embodies the bright, hypnotic and pulsing music that has characterized his releases to date on Crossing. Talking about the release, Fengler states, “He got my attention after some pretty strong releases on his own imprint Crossing. I felt that this was something I didn’t have on my label, but still reflected the idea of IMF.”

Thomas Hessler returns with his second full EP for IMF, with four tracks further establishing the on-the-rise German producer's talent for sleek, agile techno.
EP opener Push is the record's most intense cut, brimming with a powerful intent that's barely contained by the track's dramatic surging synths. It's followed by Rise, which matches its rhythmic urgency to an escalating melody that teases while it builds towards its cathartic 'house lights up' moment.
The record's B1 track, the aptly-titled Reflections, is the EP's most contemplative, with an unwavering pulse underpinning a subtle rising-and-falling melody that always threatens to burst into technicolour before dipping back into darkness. Finally, EP closer The Hope may be optimistically named yet is conversely the track most likely to incite dancefloor panic, with a drum rhythm that bucks like a rodeo bull, to which your best course of action is to hold on tight and enjoy the ride. Strength lies in calmness – and vice versa. Marcel Fengler returns on IMF and offers three new inspirited musical pieces that protrude from the club context just as well as cater for your home stereo, picking up on the diverse musical moods defined by his debut album Fokus (Ostgut Ton, 2013) while concentrating on intertwining sound aesthetics. With “Kyu” laid out on the A-side, this new 12" starts off with a delicate yet muscular floor-pleaser – its subtle 4/4 rhythm is counteracted by lush claps on 2/4, but the true finesse comes in form of its varying rhythmic details, crisp hi-hats and underlying, subtle melodies, most notably the twirling organ trills, sustained synth pads and alienated shout outs. “Shitau” on B1 picks up on these introverted and adoring musical moods with more organic bell percussion and swelling synth layers adding a more cinematic touch to the complex rhythm patterns—then pausing for a short dreamy break, gaining speed again before culminating in a grand finale. “Zen” follows up with intimate string arrangements until Fengler varies the tone and tempo with tribalist percussion and a lush kick drum. This EP is an ideal companion, whether you're pruning your bonsai or branching out a club set.

Index Marcel Fengler unearths another Berlin-forged gem with a debut release for Somewhen. Following an impressive pair of EPs on his own Sana imprint, label boss Marcel Fengler was quick to invite the newcomer to the IMF family. Following a pair of head turning performances on line-ups alongside Fengler at his Berghain home, the time has come for IMF 05 to bring Somewhen’s talents to wider attention A cut ‘Dain’ is a stripped down techno trip engineered for dancefloors at dawn: a siren call to the club’s most battle hardened heads, its subtle machinations will prove deadly in the right DJ’s hands. Over on the B-side, ‘Aula’ is the EP’s more unpredictable beast, its rougher rave edges rounded off by a rich bass synth and enigmatic vox pads that give the track an unsettling air as it nears its conclusion. XJ closes the EP with an insistent slice of acid with Somewhen’s own playful modern twist.

Marcel Fengler launches his own label – IMF (Index Marcel Fengler) with a rich, experimental and varied 3 track EP. Through his numerous releases for Ostgut Ton and Mote- Evolver, or remixes for artists like Skudge or Perc, Fengler has built his own distinct modern techno sound. Introducing the EP , setting the tone and announcing its intentions, ‘Knavish‘ is a thick, textural and spacious piece of sound design that careers across the audio spectrum with stunning fluidity. Like a seductive opening chapter, it draws us in, yet leaves much for our burning curiosity to discover. Moving on further off-centre, the churning ten minute adventure of ‘Hidden Empire‘ begins its rumbling ascent in the paranoid depths of Fengler’s more subversive electronic language. Fusing the attitude of punk with the metallic ring of industry, its lively synth play and heavy forward stomp make this a challenging and indeed rewarding find. Featured on his new ‘Berghain 05‘ mix, ‘Sphinx‘ takes a straighter path into the kind of sensory techno that Marcel is well known for presenting on the Berghain floor. Funky, playfully aggressive, heavily defined and certainly cosmic, a concerto of outer-space tones, static and filtered waves join the racing percussion in tense unison.
